Not been here for 4 years due to the pandemic but came here recently for a weekend with our church. Rooms recently decorated and upgraded, food was of a high quality considering catering for 130 people. Grounds are superb, staff helpful. We had a fantastic time. PS the Orangery is well worth a visit for their afternoon tea.

This is my second visit to the Orangery. The food is lovely, the service appalling. This is a classic case of no or poor management. EVERY table, inside and out was full of used crockery and cutlery. Not one table had been cleared or wiped. It looked awful and most off putting. When it was pointed out the response was 'we will do it when we're not busy'! That's exactly the time when tables should be cleared. Staff came out with food but returned to the kitchen empty handed. First rule of a restaurant, never return to the kitchen empty handed. Staff pleasant but need direction. Also, it was not clear how to order. The gentleman before had been standing at the counter for 20 minutes and all the staff had had their backs to him and ignored him. That's just plain rude. When we were served with our food, there was still no attempt to clean the table. We had to ask. Please get someone in charge who can run this place properly. It may be staffed by amateur volunteers but they could still act more professionally.

The gardens are designed by Capability Brown and its a wonderful peaceful place to walk around the various well trodden paths. It's like a miniature Blenheim Palace in our Sussex backyard, but without the crowds or admission charge. So many interesting things to see, 3 lakes, a kitchen garden, a walled garden. The Orangery serves lovely refreshments and sometimes has music.

A beautiful place to go for Lunch or tea. The biggest cheese scone I've ever had, and it tasted dammed good too. Good value too. And then after that you can go for a stroll around the grounds which are simply stunning.

I hadn't been to Ashburnham place in year's. A friend suggested we meet there for a catch up. What stuck me was how peaceful and calm it was. We had a stroll around the lake and enjoyed seeing the goat's. The vegetable garden was huge and you could see there was a lot of effort being put in. We went to the orangery cafe. Bargain price of Β£5.50 for a deluxe hot chocolate and a ginormous cheese scone which came with a couple of wedges of cheese and a pot of chutney. The cakes all looked delicious. Really lovely place to relax and enjoy an edible treat. There was plenty of outside seating as well. I mustn't forget to mention the staff who are all extremely polite and courteous.

I booked a baby shower here for my daughter in law. They gave us the loveliest room, the library. Everything was perfect despite them being closed to the public for refurbishment. They honoured our very large booking because I think they knew I wouldn’t find another place at short notice. Eve the receptionist and the team of waitresses that served us were so kind and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble. I go out to a lot of coffee shops and restaurants but I really was so impressed with the staff. Infact the whole place is beautiful!

Amazing experience this weekend with my little progressive community. The other downside was the unstable wifi connection; a bit frustrating as I really counted on it when my daughter was resting, but sadly couldn't do much work.

I have stayed at Ashburnham Place many times as my church has been holding its annual retreat event there every August since 1992. Ashburnham Place strikes me as the perfect venue for setting time apart from our busy everyday lives, because it has been consecrated to God as a place where He may be glorified. Everybody, no matter what they believe or not, is made very welcome by the staff and the international volunteers. Whilst I do not expect the extravagance of a 3 or 4 or 5 star hotel during a Christian retreat week, I have always enjoyed the warm hospitality, the clean accommodation and the lovely - partly homegrown - food. The stunning surroundings see me venture out on early morning rambles, which makes for a perfect start into the day. I am already looking forward to my next stay this August. My year would not be the same without my holiday at this very special place.

What a beautiful place, returning to spend the weekend with church family. The grounds are as lovely and peaceful as ever. The main areas have Ben nicely refurbished to a high standard and all the food was top notch with an impressive range of cuisines. The period meeting rooms and library gave us ample space. Highly recommended.

I have never been to any place and experience a major transformation in my life as I have at Ashburnham Place. This place embodies the peace of God. As I entered through the gates I felt like I had entered the garden of Eden. And in my few days there, I was able to recharge my entire being and saturate myself in God's word. I worshiped, I cried, I laughed and I was made whole. The perfect place for an individual or family getaway from the usual hustle and bustle of life. It is serene and calm. You can almost feel the tangible presence of the Almighty God Himself! This place has a unique history, that can only resonate with you in a personal experience. I encourage you to try it. The food is amazing, the staff is amazing and the place is - you guessed it! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't forget to mention the prayer house and garden, you can go at anytime just to be alone with Adonai Elohim. I pray you will also have this experience soon! #adullamretreat

The surrounding lake and woodlands were stunning. The decor in the main rooms were really majestic, and was a privilege to rest and enjoy the spacious rooms in the historic building. Maintenance however was not quite up to scratch, communal areas could be kept cleaner. The bedrooms are functional and fit for purpose, bed and pillows were comfortable. Again cleanliness could be improved, especially in the bathroom. Food is very average, the vegetarian dishes are generally enjoyable, good desserts, breakfast needs a bit more work.

We broke our journey here for refreshments and discovered a little gem. We sat out in a courtyard setting overlooking the grounds, and enjoyed the best cheese scones ever along with their very own freshly made apple juice. And all VERY reasonably priced. A walk around the lake made for a very enjoyable experience.

Thank you Eleonora and all the staff for the hospitality. Worth going there to have a good time with your church members.

These pictures bring back many memories of the times in the mid 60's when I visited several times with a working party from St Andrew's Church in Ilford, Essex. We were there to help with the work necessary to convert the original buildings and outhouses into something like what they are today. We would camp on the other side of the lake (in any weather!) having arrived on a Friday evening. Our transport from Ilford was by a clapped out old bus operated by one Mr Crudgington. Happy days, I must one day return.

35 years ago I was in this wonderful place, as a volunteer for two consecutive summers, my experience was wonderful, the first year I was welcomed by Mr. Jons and the second by Mr. Bets, wonderful people who did a great job for the Protestant community. This experience was a privilege and also the place is beautiful, highly recommended, and the surroundings are also worth visiting. Thank you very much for the experience.

I came here for the Revive event put on by the Icthus Fellowship. The grounds are beautiful. The house is beautiful what bit I saw, and the Orangery served the best Moroccan mint tea ever. It was a week of worship, friends, camping, healing, visits from foxes during the night, games and love for Jesus. I was blessed by light. Thankyou Lord.

I visited today and visited the Orangery. Unbelievably good scones and cakes. Absolutely charming staff. Superb value for money. Going to be favourite for me.

Ashburnham is a faith retreat. It is a hidden gem with amazing gardens and woods to walk. The walled garden and church is inspiring. An international staff provide service in the orangery restaurant. They serve excellent home made food guaranteed to satisfy. Check to see that they are open before visiting to avoid disappointment.

Ashburnham Place is the Christian retreat centre with the best memories for me. I've stayed in the house as a teenager in the 1970s and this time, camped in the ground with about 600 others from our church. A great place to meet, and do business with, God.

We spent the weekend here with our church and were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the accommodation, food and facilities. A couple of misunderstandings took off some of the gloss, but the feedback all round was good. We will be back.

I was there for the 'Filling Station' worship event held every second Monday of the month. It was the first time for me and it was brilliant. Homemade cakes tea and coffee beforehand and then wonderful worship with a 5 piece band and a great speaker who was interesting and gifted. A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere; I shall go again.
