We did not have a table booked yesterday but we were accommodated really quickly and made our way to a comfortable corner table. We had a lovely meal and enjoyed the ambiance of the room … starters were great and our steaks were lovely too … Well done Everyone at the Crown … we will be back! Rosemarie Jarvis Hanworth Hats

A lovely Gastro pub - will visit again for drinks. Very friendly staff, good selection of wine and beers and great outdoor seating areas. The only suggested improvement would be to offer more plant based foods options. The value for money for food isn’t great but presentation and taste is a winner.

I love this place. Even through the restrictions you can eat and drink, feeling confident about safety and cleanliness while having a "normal" meal out. I felt at the Crown, it is possible to remember what being out, used to be, pre covid. Staff are extremely professional, attentive and efficient. Food was amazing and the cocktails are worth going back for as well!

Attended last night on the way home from a busy shopping day. Staff were really friendly and the majority of the food was fantastic. The problem was when the dessert came out??? After two or three spoonfuls I came across a long black hair. Called the waitress over and she said they would replace it and not charge us for the dessert ?? When the bill came came they still charged us for the dessert which took the shine off what was a a really nice day !!!

The food was surprisingly quick I had the fish and chips and although it didn’t look much it was extremely tasty. I also had a watermelon Bellini which was absolutely breathtaking. Nice experience although slightly overpriced.

Disappointing. We had such high hopes! £32 for two very small portioned breakfasts and two cold coffees with an automatic 10% service fee. The kitchen clearly buys very good quality produce but we expected much more given the cost. The menu was slightly misleading where “sausages” really means “a sausage”, the toast was almost solid and a portion of baked beans contains a maximum of 8 beans. We overheard staff talking at the end of the bar which isn’t a problem but if they could keep the swearing down to a minimum at 10am it would make for a more relaxing atmosphere, particular given the number of children in earshot. The setting is lovely and well positioned off the main road, but sadly we won’t won’t be returning and I’m sorry to say that I recommend that you avoid too.

We have had many meals at The Crown and have always had a brilliant time. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, the menu is varied and of high quality and the pub itself is comfortable and provides a cozy atmosphere/environment. We have returned and would return again.

The positives: Visited for lunch on a spur of the moment moment. We found a lovely seat and ordered via the app. Quick and easy to use. Both meals arrived fairly quickly (it was busy, so we actually expected a longer wait). The food was delicious, but I would say that my meal, for the money, could have done with a bit more in the bowl and had less tomato and more aubergine. My daughter's meal was lovely. Cons: Our meal was disturbed by a big group of people who came in with babies and pushchairs. To such an extent we felt we had to move or we would have been hemmed in. Apparently they arrived early for a 3:00 booking, and decided they wouldn't wait so they invaded where we were sitting, moving furniture around us and making us feel uncomfortable - I felt staff could have maybe asked them to wait. As a result, we had men just standing around us just chatting and actually preventing my daughter getting out of her chair. It felt a bit claustrophobic. Will we return, I'm genuinely not sure at the moment. I'm sure this was a one off, but I think the comfort of other customers could maybe have been taken into consideration.

The Crown Henlow is fairly local to me and my family, which made it easy to decide on. My sister booked the table originally for 1pm. But we had to change to a later time due to a previous engagement in the morning, which was handled promptly and with no problem at all. We felt very lucky. We had a very warm welcome on arrival by varying members of the staff. We were slightly early as wanted to add some birthday flowers and balloons although our table was not quite ready we didn't have to long to complete the mission! We had a lovely ambient corner setting for Mum's 80th birthday meal. We felt so comfortable and respected. We had youngsters with us and the staff we very polite to them and responded to their requests. The food was incredible. Absolutely delicious. Hot on arrival, flavoursome and wholesome. We had organised a cake, as you do, and the request to bring out as prompted, again was dealt with efficiently and no problem. All the staff had smiles and happy faces. Friendly, approachable and polite, even asked to help with family photos. Just brilliant. We all had a very special, and tbh, delectable time! Thank you so very much for making a very special lady feel even more extra special. Credit and praise where credit and praise are due. Wishing all the staff a successful year ahead ✨️

Had a lovely roast dinner in the garden. Food and service was brilliant, staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative is that they have crammed so many tables and chairs in the garden you are sitting on top of each other, squeezing around other peoples chairs. Definitely recommend this pub though.

I have visited here several times and have never had a bad visit. Staff are friendly and helpful the pub has a very cosy atmosphere and the menu is great. Food is to a really high standard and the roast dinners are amazing. Food is a little on the pricey side but it is worth it as the food is of an outstanding quality. I would say verging on fine dining rather than gastropub. Highly recommended.

Not a huge menu but still plenty to offer, quite pricey but you get what you pay for and portions are fair. Nice garden area.

Really good food, more on the expensive side but good size portions. Slight technical issue which slowed things down when we went but overall positive, normally much faster service and lovely staff

Title: Disappointing Experience at The Crown Pub in Henlow Review: I am saddened to write a negative review about The Crown Pub in Henlow, as it is one of my local establishments. However, after experiencing three separate incidents involving poor service and subpar food, I feel compelled to share my disappointment. Unfortunately, these issues do not seem to be isolated incidents. One of the major letdowns at The Crown Pub is the lack of attentive service and the inconsistency in the quality of their dishes. On two separate occasions, our food arrived poorly cooked and had to be sent back. It was disheartening that the manager did not display any concern or attempt to rectify the situation, even though it meant we were unable to eat together. Additionally, there were instances where items were missed by the bar staff, and the level of salt in the food was overpowering. Furthermore, the menu at The Crown Pub has the potential to offer truly spectacular dishes. However, the lackluster execution by the chef and the disappointingly unprofessional service overshadowed this potential. Despite complaining about the food being remade and still being burnt, the manager did not make any effort to make amends, and the waitstaff appeared ill-equipped to handle the situation. Another aspect worth mentioning is that the pub seems to be understaffed, with most of the employees being very young. While age does not necessarily determine competency, it does raise concerns about their level of experience and professionalism. The young staff members were not adept at making drinks in a timely manner or providing efficient service. Considering the high prices we paid without alcohol, totaling £100 for two people with two starters and mains, it was disheartening to see that the establishment appeared indifferent towards the subpar quality of the food. Despite the diabolical experience, we were not offered any discount or compensation, which left us feeling unsatisfied. In conclusion, I cannot recommend The Crown Pub in Henlow for those seeking attentive service and decent food. The menu has the potential to offer something exceptional, but unfortunately, the chef and service let it down. The continuous issues with poorly cooked food, lack of concern from the manager, and inexperienced staff are major areas in need of improvement. In response to their response below, I feel compelled to write the reply because their response is quite ridiculous and I seems to imply we didn’t address this on site. Which we have. Having looked at all the complaints this business does not address complaints well at all. "Dear [Establishment], Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review. I appreciate your attention, but I must express my disappointment with the generic reply provided. During my visit to your establishment, I had the chance to speak directly with the manager and raise my concerns. It is disheartening to see that my feedback has been disregarded or misrepresented in your response. I had hoped for a more personalized and thoughtful reply, perhaps acknowledging the specific issues I brought to the manager's attention. Clear communication and understanding are crucial in resolving customer concerns, and I believe this is an opportunity missed. As a loyal customer, it is important to me that my feedback is valued and taken seriously. I kindly request that you reconsider your reply and provide a more attentive and sincere response. Thank you. .

This is a fantastic pub, great decor and beer garden, and the service and food were some of the best I've ever experienced. I cannot rate it highly enough. Sadly the location is poor, the area sucks, but if I ever have to pass through again I would be sure to visit again.

Met friends here for Saturday lunch. The garden area was filling up but we opted to eat in the restaurant. The menu and range of specials was great - my SiL declared the chips ‘the best ever’. Service was slightly slow as the staff were split between the garden and restaurant however the food was awesome. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

One of the best Sunday dinners I’ve ever had. Took my mother for lunch and the whole experience was brilliant, thank you for a proper Sunday roast.

The food at the Crown is just unbelievably good. I don't go that often, but when I do I forget how good it is. It might be a tad expensive, but the quality is fantastic. We went for a Friday night meal, husband had the pork belly rib special and it tasted wow! Can't fault the food at all.

Disappointed I'm sure it's a good place and it came recommended but my food was burnt, had lamb rack and made the whole dish taste off and burnt. Not sure if it was something chefy?? As it's called a gastro pub But certainly wasn't impressed. And if a whole plate tastes burnt nothing clever in it Wanted to send it back but was with new people and didn't want to fuss. Service was quick and polite. Given what the dinner cost Don't think I'd go again.

Visited for the first time yesterday for Sunday lunch. Roast beef was lovely and plenty of it. Only given 4 stars as, personal preference, I would have liked my potatoes a little crisper. Also had chocolate orange brownie which was delicious but absolutely not orange.

The Crown gave us the very best beginning to our vacation! Flying into Heathrow from America and then driving to Henlow meant that we checked in late, but they still welcomed us warmly, showed us to our lodgings and found us a table in the bustling dining room. We enjoyed fish and chips with moist, flaky fish in a light, almost tempura-like batter. Our room was very comfortable, done in a country-chic decor, with excellent coffee/tea making facilities, even providing a bottle of milk for our tea in the mini-fridge. The full English breakfast, included with the room, was delicious, with everything perfectly cooked/grilled without being dried out, and the sausages were the tastiest ever! We ended up making The Crown our pub of choice for the entire stay, chatting over a pint with jovial bar patrons and marveling at the family atmosphere for Sunday roast, where the staff remained pleasant and efficient despite the very full dining room. The owners were always present, making sure everything ran smoothly and genuinely caring that both their staff and customers were happy. We can't wait to go back!

Very disappointed with our way to expensive sharing Sunday lunch. Just 1.5 slices of (quite tough) beef and 1 small loin chop.... this had been substituted as no roast pork was available, but we weren't told this! Cauliflower cheese was too hard and undercooked to eat. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds were nice. This was for two people and cost 🤔 £47 😲 Probably won't be back..... Reply to your response: the "extra" chop was not offered, we had to beg for it... and it wasn't what we had ordered, we were expecting roast pork slices as stated on the menu! We were not given another cauliflower cheese as you stated, by then we were very disillusioned and didn't see another waitress. Yes, you did give a small reduction, (after a bit of a haggle), but we would so much rather have had a good meal that we could relax over and enjoy. Thanks

Fabulous! Chose to sit indoors, very clean and tidy. Fast offer of drinks and helped choosing. Starter came out swiftly and lovely and hot - fresh! Main meals shortly afterwards and checked on twice to make sure everything was ok! Truly the best garlic ciabatta I've ever eaten. The entire meal was 11/10! Can't wait to return ❤️service was courteous and polite!! thank you

Really lovely meal for two- I personally enjoyed the good selection of Salad bowls and how creative you could be with them. The Asian Salad is really refreshing and would be the perfect light meal especially in the recent heatwave we have had. Dessert which was the brownie was also 👌🏼. We will definitely be back!

Lovely country pub/restaurant in Henlow. Great location, great atmosphere and great service. Disappointing overpriced food unfortunately. Had the fish pie which should have contained salmon and prawns but I didn't get one prawn!

Lovely family meal tonight - five different menu choices for our party, all well cooked and presented and tasting delicious. Love this place - we've just moved to the area and this is our favourite local go-to gastropub every time. Highly recommend.

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure our large party was very well looked after. Food was prepared and presented to a very high standard and I recommend it highly.

We went for dinner on a Saturday evening as a party of four. One of our party had a good meal. Two of us ordered the buttermilk chicken burger which were both on the dry side. The one remaining ordered a crown burger but received a buttermilk chicken burger. He was offered to have it replaced with the correct order but declined. Fries were good. The rainbow slaw had no dressing on it. We weren't asked how our meal was during our visit and nor were we asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Overall, disappointing.

Very nice food, service was excellent and staff were all very pleasant. Was there with another 8 people and everyone enjoyed the food and drinks. The only reason for the lost start was for the linguini with crab and prawns. We ordered the large portion and it was actually quite small for 18.95 apart from that everything was great.

The last time we were here, it was dog friendly, and gratuities were discretionary. This time we were directed to the garden as we had an amazingly well behaived little dog with us. Also, "service charge" was printed on the bill and added to the total, I just hope it is not a management levied charge, and goes to the staff as a gratuity. For these two reasons, we won't be rushing back, and the food too seems to have gone dowhill a bit since last time.

Absolutely amazing stay. Could not do enough for us and the food was outstanding. The room had everything from coffee machine to hair straightener. Comfortable and spotless (yes I even looked under the bed!) if you need to go for a stay or food you can’t go wrong.
