This is a lovely Abbey, with superb architecture and is at the heart of the village. There are hand made cushions on the pews and represent all sorts of organisations and events. The Abbey is surrounded by a lot of nice buildings, aswell as a immaculate village green. It is a lovely place to stop for a break if you are travelling along the A47.

Thorney Abbey aka The Church of St Mary and St Botolph a fantastic Benedictine Monastery founded 972 very atmospheric as you walk in great stained glass window behind the alter a mid 7th century hermitage was here but was destroyed by the Vikings I arrived quite late but the door was still open realy pleased that it was as I have been meaning to visit for ages

Visited Thorney Abbey for a wedding. Beautiful old church & lovely setting for a wedding. No toilet facility but lovely tearoom down the road happy to accommodate.

Beautiful stained glass windows... and loved the knee cushions.

Beautiful church. When you check out the grave stones it just shows how short life could be back 150 or so years ago. A must visit !

Lovely little village, Abbey not open though. Unfortunately I think the amount of haulage trucks kinda ruined the moment stayed 3 minutes
