CrossFit Beowulf

Gym

👍👍 I'd never walked into a gym in my life before attending a free "Taster session". I was nervous and unsure with an unhealthy frame and negative mindset to exercise (I did zero exercise and drank too much!). Fast forward 9 months and I'm a new and better person. I am still very much a beginner but now... People often mention great, months, community,

I'd never walked into a gym in my life before attending a free "Taster session". I was nervous and unsure with an unhealthy frame and negative mindset to exercise (I did zero exercise and drank too much!). Fast forward 9 months and I'm a new and better person. I am still very much a beginner but now attending 5 or 6 days a week, always wanting more. I'm not very good but improving in every single session. The coaches are all fantastic, effectively like having a PT session most days with the care and attention they give. Tom and Sam (owners) put their hearts and souls into making it a true community. They put on comps and events throughout the year making everyone feel welcome, regardless of ability. There are no pumped-up blokes or ladies curling dumbbells in front of the mirror. There are people of all ages, shapes and abilities, cheering each other on. You really do feel part of the family. When it comes to the workouts, everything is scalable, which means you're never put off or felt like you can't do it (I'd never put my hands on a dumbbell or barbell before walking into the gym - I still scale every single workout). In summary, joining CrossFit Beowulf really has changed my life for the better. I'm healthier, happier and fitter than I've ever been in my life, and I'm 41. If you are unsure, I can't recommend enough to just give it a go. It isn't easy, but hard work never is. Give it time, be dedicated, and the rewards will follow (and you'll make some amazing friends!).

So much more than just a gym! I started just over six months ago and it has been great. If you think crossfit isn’t for you, think again... Beowulf has a great team and community that help make Beowulf a perfect fit for all. So many say progress not perfection and at Beowulf this is so true, everyone is simply focused on helping each other improve from whatever level of fitness they are currently at, and with the help of the brilliant coaches and motivating peers, the progress comes quick. If you are thinking about checking it out, definitely do it! Swing in and see what it’s all about, you won’t regret it!

Joined a few months ago and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far. I went to a taster session and also a charity WOD with a friend, and now I’m hooked. The community they have created in this box is fantastic. The coaches are a good laugh but have the technical knowledge to push you to the next level. I go nearly everyday just so I don’t miss out on the great variation of the classes and the programming behind it all - it’s all working to make you stronger, faster, better! Join and you won’t be disappointed, I’ve never been so committed to working out 👍🏻👍🏻

Having been a Crossfit athlete for 3 months now, I was recently competing in Gotland, Sweden in the Island Games. I was representing the Isle Of Wight (my homeland) in Basketball, a sport we aren't usually very good at seeing as there isn't even a competitive league there any more! I competed in Jersey back in 2015 but I picked up a lower back injury just before the games and could barely run up and down the court so wasn't able to help the team. Since then I have got in the gym and I've really been able to strengthen my back and core since starting Crossfit earlier this year. It's not easy playing such a fast paced sport at age 42, but I found myself able to stay with the pace so much better than even earlier this year. We managed to place fifth in the end (our best ever result) out of 11 teams and we beat the Isle of Man and Jersey in the process. I was even able to pick up the Player of the Game award vs Jersey despite it being my fifth game in 5 days! I firmly believe that the conditioning and muscle development through Crossfit helped prevent me picking up injury. Big thanks to Helen and Agnes for all of their fine coaching to date. This has been the best training I have experienced to date and it's keeping me feeling young!

Terrific CrossFit Gym! Coaches are all experienced, friendly, and highly knowledgeable they really know what they are talking about. Classes are kept small so your coach can spend more time with you, to help you with anything. The Gym has a great friendly atmosphere with a real sense of community where everyone is made to feel so welcome, which is just one of the reasons I really enjoy about training there. I have been coming here for over a year and would highly recommend it to anyone. The gym is really well equipped. The classes are varied and scaled from absolute beginners all the way to elite and competition standard. There's something for everyone. Tom and his team have the the right programming on tap for everyone and what I really like is that it challenges all levels, from experienced to beginners. The best "box” for miles by far!

Joining this gym has been the highlight of 2020. I've played sports for a number of years, had peaks and troughs in my fitness journey and been a member at approx 5 gyms in the last 10years. Bodybuilding gyms, power lifting gyms and leisure centres. I can honestly say that this place knocks all others out of the park. If your looking at this gym review on Google then i guess your currently deciding wether to join or not. Your probably looking at the price of the membership and trying to figure out why it's more expensive than your local gym with a pool. Let me tell you why I pay 3.4x what I used to. Its simple, by paying over three times what I did at the leisure center. I've seen 10x the progress in 2 months than I did in 4 years at my other gym. Its heavily class based and you get a great coach to participant ratio where you get direct coaching and feedback on your movement and technique. In 2 months ive hit PR's in all major lifts due to an improvement in technique. Its simple, sign up and you will never regret it.

I decided to join after lockdown as I was feeling demotivated and wanted a new experience and challenge from my other gym. So glad I did. It's been great. Really enjoying the challenge of the sessions, and learning new techniques. I am already feeling fitter.

A great friendly gym, but more than that is the people that go there, your made to feel welcome and part of a team/community from day 1, and that keeps you going back, the coaches are without exception awesome, and always find time for everyone in the class. If your after a crossfit gym or any type of gym, give if a try. You wont be disappointed.

I’ve been at this box for just over 2 years and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Crossfit is great for a variety in training and I never thought I would pick up a barbell and do Olympic lifting but now it’s my fave!!! This is for everyone, any ability, any fitness level, gender and age!! Totally family and pet friendly with an amazing inclusive community. Amazing team of coaches and training that works. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!!!

I popped in CrossFit Beuwolf while on holiday (over from the US) & had a really great experience. Tom was responsive to my emails asking if okay for me to drop in & Coach Kev really thorough pushing me in class, & fellow athletes really welcoming. If in the Letchworth area, definitely check them out!
