Always consistently good! Their pizzas are delicious with crispy crusts. Service is friendly and fast. A must visit for our family when we are passing through Berea, KY.

A lovely Italian restaurant with no duds on the menu. It has a nice small family business feel and the pasta tastes home made.

This was fantastic. Walk in and order the pizza at the counter, then take your number and find a table. With a really large dining room, there were plenty of tables available. The line to order food would get a little long at times and stretch out the door, but it moved fast! The pizza was delicious, and the Mrs and I tried the mountaineer, which was perfectly cooked with a large amount of toppings.

I got the chicken Alfredo and a order of hot wings. My son got a cheese pizza (one of the best pizzas ever)! My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs, he said it was good. But we also ordered the ravioli and even my son said it was the best thing! The pasta came with garlic bread which was one of my favorite things with their ranch which you can appreciate if you love ranch! Might of just found new favorite restaurant! The pictures just do not do it justice!

We had to wait a bit (25 minutes) in line to order and there was also a bit of a wait for the food. However, this was on a Friday night at 6:30 PM, which I imagine is as busy as it gets. I ordered a 16-inch pepperoni pizza for myself and my son. The pepperoni was non-cupping, freshly sliced, and some of the best I've tasted. The sauce was sweet and tangy, with just the right amount. Crust was cooked thoroughly but could’ve used a little more crunch. The pricing was fair and the restaurant was clean. Definitely worth a try if you're in town

As a Berea College student, I ate at Papa Leno’s on special occasions being on a college student budget! The garlic bread sticks, cheese sticks, and ham and cheese sandwiches were outta this world delicious! Their other food too was great-pizzas, pastas, salads. When I come back to Kentucky to visit, I try to make an hour and a half drive to go back to Papa Leno’s! All these years later they are still open and thriving and the food still delicious! The workers are locals and some college students. They are all friendly and helpful. You have to give this play a try, but be ready you will likely get hooked and have to go back! Ha!

Amazing food and service. Some of the best food around. Their Italian sandwich is delicious. Their pizzas are amazing. And the fries are the best. One of my kids' favorites is the baked spagetti. My whole family loves to go here.

We stopped here after a long drive from NC. The outside is a bit misleading as we thought this was a sit-down restaurant. Rather, upon walk-in, you have to wait in line to order at the front. I don’t mind this however the restaurant is so compact and CROWDED, that we were standing inches from diners already eating at their tables. Ruins the ambiance. We sat near the soda fountain which was an issue in itself as you had to also get your own refills so there was constant lines of people brushing against our table. It’s just not the right size of a restaurant to have so much going on in such a limited amount of space. Not to mention, because of the constant movement from customers, there were some unwelcome smells wafting around. My husband ordered a mushroom pizza and had no complaints. My manicotti was okay. But the best part about our dining experience was their bread. I could eat that bread as my main entree and have absolutely no complaints. Their food is great! I just wish they thought the restaurant’s layout through a little bit more.

Found this place during our travels and the great reviews. Unfortunately this was NOT a great find. We waited about an hour due to the line to order and food preparation. They ask for tip money upfront and I do not think they should as there is no service. You get your own drinks, ect. I ordered the Italian sub and that was a huge disappointment. See photos!!!! 1 piece of salami, 1 piece of capicola, 2 pieces of banana pepper and onion with no lettuce. I had to ask for my chips and pickle which should have came with it. My husband ordered the lasagna and took it right back. Was not able to get photos before he returned it. All cheese with no meat and grease was so bad. Just a pool of it sitting on top. Would not recommend or return.

Food is not GREAT but it is good. Home made fresh bread with our order but it's drenched in butter. For garlic bread it wasn't very garlicky. I love Alfredo and their sauce wasn't quite kicking it for me. Over all mid food, great fast service 3 stars

This place is the coolest place i have been to in years. very un-assuming, cool atmosphere and great food. I am from Toledo Ohio and stop here when ever passing through Kentucky. The Mountaineer Pizza is truly the best pizza I have ever had.! My Wife and I stay the night down the block at the Boone Tavern to and from Florida each January and spend the evening at Papa Leno's with a bottle or two of Cabernet, the garlic bread and a Mountaineer Pizza. It is always one of the Highlights of our trip. If not traveling through, this little place is actually worth a day or two's drive just to experience it. If I can't get to Florida next year, I will go to Berea for a day or two just to go here. Can't say enough about it. Defiantly one of those "have to go to" places.

Had the Philly cheesesteak. Very good, beef was super tender, bread was incredible. People working there were friendly & fun!

Consistently great food made fresh and with a home style flair. Their pizza bread/dough is used all around, pizzas, sandos, garlic bread! They have homemade oven baked traditional Italian dishes with a mix of their House Specialties. Excellent serving size! Great value! Always extremely friendly staff ready to help. Step up to the counter and order, then grab yourself a seat!

Nice atmosphere, but place has a distinct smell to it. Had a grilled chicken salad which had very small, precooked/presliced chicken on it. Blue cheese was from a squeeze packet, wish it was home made or better chunky quality.

Everyone in berea knows that Papaleno’s is a staple. They have been in busy for many years and I have never had a disappointing experience. Usually I go for the pizza like a proper Papaleno goer but this time I changed it up and had the chicken philly cheesesteak which was nothing short of great. It’s a must stop in for lunch for anyone passing through the berea area.

It took about 45 minutes to place our order. Then we were told they were out of garlic bread and had no single servings of salad, so we order the regular size salad, which was not much. We waited an hour and a half for our order. It was served lukewarm and very sparing in the amount of food. After hearing so many wonderful things about this restaurant, we were very disappointed. The service was very poor however, the ones that did were nice, but really offered no solution (like re-warming the dishes) other than we are sorry. The crew behind the counter doing the cooking seem to be more interested in goofing off and playing on their phones. The girl at the register was nice, but just rolled her eyes. The cold food was disappointing, but we were just hungry tried to eat it anyway. We will definitely not go back.
