Great little coffee shop! My pourover was great, and the vibe was real. I had heard that the atrium seats were highly coveted, and this proved to be true, as they were all taken. So get there early and enjoy it. I want to come back during warmer months and relax on the patio.

Very cozy, great food, friendly and helpful staff. If you get the breakfast sandwich, I highly recommend getting the rosemary potato frittata.

Came here a few years back and remembered it to be really good. I ordered the same thing and unfortunately wasnt as good as i remembered. The hazelnut latte tasted gritty and the turkey club was really salty and hard. The sandwich literally cut my mouth lol, i think the ciabatta was overtoasted since the tops were black.

Food and coffee is great but I’ve consistently found the service to be horrible. Every time I place an order they react like I’ve offended them. I live next door so I’ve given this place plenty of chances, but am always disappointed. Every other place in this neighborhood is a delight.

In a beautiful building, nice spot to sit and work with plugs too. Outdoor patio is super chill. Coffee tastes above average, though not impressive. Staff efficient and nice, though not necessarily warm (which is fine!)

A nice coffeeshop with a decent range of pastry and bagels. My medium roast was delicious, but I’d rather drink a light roast. Apparently they do make pour over but they did not do it for me today. I’d go again if I’d be in the area.

Render is my go- to to-go spot in the neighborhood & has been over the past 8 years. The breakfast sandwich remains unbeatable. I wish, however, I could say the same of service...I don’t know what happened *gestures broadly at COVID* but the younger baristas are constantly complaining in front of guests & it’s wildly offputting. Hospitality is only special when your staffs thinks so. :/

Lovely place. The patio space is cute. Good vibes. A bit busy, but I could successfully secure a table. Wifi available. Good for hanging out with friends (but don't bring too many friends. Small tables)

Review for Render Coffee ☕🌿 Address: 563 Columbus Ave APT 2, Boston, MA 02118 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “Great” Nestled in the bustling heart of Boston, Render Coffee is a hidden gem that marries the art of coffee with the warmth of community. Service 🙋‍♂️ A delightful encounter with Day, our barista, set the tone for our visit. Their genuine laughter at my attempts at humor was the cream to my coffee - an unexpected and welcome layer of joy. It’s this kind of personal touch that transforms a standard coffee run into a memorable morning ritual. The service here isn’t just about pouring a drink; it’s about crafting an experience, one smile, one cup at a time. Decor 🎨🪴 Stepping into Render Coffee feels like entering a secret garden. The elongated interior unfolds like a storybook, each chapter more enchanting than the last, culminating in a plant-adorned alcove that opens to a patio cradled by the arms of weathered brick. It’s an urban oasis that invites you to sit, sip, and savor. Here, the world outside falls away, leaving room for whispered secrets and shared glances - a true sanctuary for the soul. Food 🍽️☕ Though we didn’t partake in their food offerings, the coffee itself was an adventure. My black coffee was a dark, brooding concoction, steeped in the rich bitterness that true aficionados cherish. On the other hand, my girlfriend’s vanilla almond milk latte was a sweet ballet in a cup - perhaps a touch too sugary for her taste, but a dance well-performed nonetheless. Each sip was a silent ode to the craft of coffee making. In Retrospect 🤔 Render Coffee stands as a testament to the simple pleasures that life affords - a pleasant chat, a robust cup of coffee, and a tranquil spot to watch the world by. It’s a place where the coffee is strong, the ambiance stronger, and the moments spent there are the strongest memories of all. Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “Great” “A Serendipitous Brew of Charm, Laughter, and Coffee Alchemy.” Render Coffee isn’t just a place to grab a caffeine fix; it’s where moments are savored, and the bustle of city life is sweetened with every sip. It’s where the coffee is as rich as the conversations, and the setting as inviting as the aroma that greets you at the door. ☕🌸🌟

I'm glad to have found this place. This place is going to be my favourite spot in this streak in Boston, as it's not very far of my home. Located in almost the end of Columbus Ave, you can see from the outside inside of the bar, just going up the stairs. You'll find a high table and the bar when you enter in, every time I went there were almost no lane, as you order and they take what you have order to your table, that's awesome. The café is divided in two areas, one next to the building with some small windows, and one full of big windows, where it's very nice to work with your laptop or read. The power plugs of the outer zone don't work, so keep it in mind before sitting there with your laptop. Talking about the coffee and the food, they are very good in my opinion. The coffee tastes like coffee ( I like strong coffee ), and they have also other options as Chai, Hazelnut or tea, I really recommend them too. I also like having coffee in a ceramic glass or mug, so many cafés give you paper glass although you are taking the coffee there. Also they have some pastries, muffins and bagels, just in the bar. I tried bagels ( I love bagels ) with cream cheese and there awesome. The music is not very loud, and people used to be quiet.

My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here. They had delicious dairy free vanilla syrup and oat milk for a latte. Also, I really enjoyed the vegan breakfast sandwich with impossible sausage. I recommend it to anyone with a dairy allergy.

My bagel was good and the person making it was wearing gloves and being cautious, but I didn't order the coffee I wanted because the person taking orders/making drinks kept rubbing their nose with their bare hand and then making/closing the drinks with the same hand. Please be careful about hygiene 🙏

We used to come here ever Saturday morning. There coffee beans are great. The quality of the Cappuccino they make with it really depends on the Barista on duty. Sometimes perfect temp, foam milk distribution and coffee taste. Sometimes no foam and too hot milk. Same with the bagels. You never know if you hit a day were the bagels are fresh and delicious or old and chewy. This inconsistency became worse recently. No salmon on a lox bagel is just the most hilarious example of things which went wrong with my orders. No pastry on a Sunday morning is another example of this branches overall inconsistency. If you are a thrillseeker, please go here. You never know what kind of experience you will get.

It has a blend of a coffee shop and a safe house. The flavors of each product is special, and there is no relation of the fragrance to other coffee shops I've ever tasted. And it feels like my late mom made me a nice taste of espresso and the shop has a wonderful atmosphere. What a delightful spot.

I ordered delivery and they didn't bring me everything I ordered. When I called about the problem they said I would have to come to the shop to pick up the remainder of my order, or get refunded for the part of the order that was not delivered. I found it very frustrating that they did not take ownership of the problem. That said, the coffee was great.

Got the turkey club with ciabatta bread and an Iced Americano. Iced Americano was nothing special (which is fine). Sandwich was not very good, the ciabatta bread was really hard and dry, turkey was really salty as well. I can see why they were recommending the sourdough over the ciabatta. We came here a couple years ago and remembered it to be better than it was now.

I was walking to an event that was going to have uninspired college catering coffee, happened to be passing Render and gave it a shot. Just a drip coffee, but the coffee was amazing -- nice, bright, chocolatey blend -- and the staff friendly. 3.50 for a coffee is a little precious for me normally, but this was totally worth the money.

  • 2/5 Alyssa G. 1 year ago on Google
Dont come here to do work - they kick you off the wifi after 4 hrs. I live next door and come all the time, but only out of necessity as this place has pretty bad coffee (always have grounds in my latte) and will kick you off the wifi after 4 hrs regardless of how much you spend. Also there are never seats.

  • 5/5 H. Alex C. 4 years ago on Google
Great coffee and quiche! Enjoyable and relaxing environment with back-yard outdoor seating, too.

  • 3/5 Cody S. 2 years ago on Google
Went it to grab an ice coffee the other day and wasn't all that impressed. The vibe of the place was like you'd expect if a place was remodeling. The ice coffee wasn't bad, but it had grounds in it which was unexpected. Probably won't be going back.

I love how pleasant the atmosphere is in this café, especially the beautiful solarium with plants. I was lured in by the countless photos of perfect micro foam latte art, and quite disappointed when I received my 6$ latte that tasted quite burnt with over-frothed milk thrown on top. This is the second time I gave this café a chance but the espresso drink quality was not great.

Awesome, delicious coffee and great service too. We sent here on a whim and would definitely love to come back. Service was great too. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to simply have a good coffee or a delicious, quick meal. Check them out.

I was excited to try this place, and don't get me wrong the food and coffee was good. However, my everything bagel with cream cheese turned into an onion bagel with cream cheese, and my wife's sesame bagel with hummus turned into an everything bagel with hummus. The barista who took out order didn't seem all there and a bit confused. I just wish she asked about the bagels while making them instead of guessing. Visited 5/24/21 at 945 am. Update: Thank you for refunding my order. Rating has been updated for great customer service!

Had a nice sandwich and a coffee alongside. It’s nice to sit and relax with friends. I like visiting local coffee shops and this one was a very good one. Sitting on the patio and enjoying your food and coffee is an experience to have.

  • 1/5 Sean P. 2 years ago on Google
Great food, worst service. Some of the most amazing bagel sandwiches and coffee, however the workers are extremely rude. They practically throw your food at you and if you ask them a simple question they respond in a condescending tone and roll their eyes. If I didn’t have to go to the laundromat next door once a week I would never consider ever going back. I have gone to Render multiple times in hopes that the service will surprise me, but the workers act the same every time. I understand working in the food service industry is stressful, but I get scared to even ask the employees for ketchup. Also, if you like babes toasted make sure you ask for them practically burnt or else they won’t toast them at all

  • 5/5 Kathryn H. 5 years ago on Google
Fantastic latte and almond croissant. Cortado was just a touch bitter. Ethiopian pourover was nice. Goat cheese quiche was also very tasty. Very nice outdoor patio seating, but fairly limited (indoor and outdoor). Popular place, so be prepared to get your coffee to go.

AMAZING prices for Boston, got bagels and they were very good and soft, coffees were good, maybe add more flavored syrups. The only complaint is that the tables weren’t being cleaned in between customers and multiple tables I tried sitting at had crumbs. This is not a big issue but just something to work on. Overall very spacious and pretty to sit inside. great place!

Render is a good cafe option in this neighborhood. The espresso based drinks are good but not fantastic. The food is good, including the breakfast bagel sandwiches. Seating is relatively limited. Good spot for reading or doing work if you can find a place to sit.

  • 5/5 Andreas H. 1 year ago on Google
Solid Boston coffee shop. My wife and I had a little getaway weekend and this was our go to spot each morning. Food and beverages certainly up to par. Great way to avoid the tourist crowd and have a quiet morning sit down coffee.

  • 5/5 Kristin M. 1 year ago on Google
Render is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Boston! From the back room that’s like a green house (my favorite spot to hang out and work or chat with a friend) to the delicious Hazelnut Latte and sandwiches, I could not recommend it more! A few of my favorites are: the Hazelnut latte (I crave this all the time), the Lox Bagel sandwich (the bagels are always fresh, I see Wicked Bagel delivering in the middle of the night), and the Turkey Club on Sourdough (their Sourdough bread is to die for).

  • 5/5 Nicole F. 1 year ago on Google
Incredible breakfast sandwiches, croissants, and coffee. The breakfast sandwiches are very customizable and can come with a potato fritatta on them! The almond croissant had a light almond flavor, not that thick almond paste you get at some places. Nice staff and seating inside and outside if you can find a spot - lot of people camped out at 3- and 4-seaters.

  • 3/5 Joe D. 1 year ago on Google
3/5 because of the double miss on my coffee order the 2 times I have been. 1) Ordered a cortado got a full cappuccino. 2) Ordered a cortado got a macchiato. The baristas need to be more consistent with their drinks and making them properly. The taste of the espresso was surprisingly good though, so someone is doing something right.

  • 3/5 Abbey D. 4 years ago on Google
Decent coffee, but no where to drink it. I've been here a few times because the location is convenient. The espresso is alright, and the drip coffee is very tasty. Unfortunately I've never been able to find a place to sit. The last time I went in some of the tables were just covered in the jackets of people sitting at nearby tables. Even on a slow weekday afternoon I've had to take my coffee to go, which makes it much less enjoyable.

This place is just ok. Never have I known baristas to be so impolite in this city. The espresso drinks are perfect. The milks are steamed to perfection for each drink. However, the employees ignore you when you walk in the door, when you say good morning, when you say good bye, or thank you. My girlfriend and I still say thank you as we leave and ALWAYS get ignored. One time while waiting in line, a new customer (who obviously didn’t know the faux pas of speaking to baristas inside this cafe) asked about a product, and was also ignored. What a way to start a beautiful morning. If the service was better we would come here every day not just when craving that oat milk flat white.

4.5 but I can't give half points. The atmosphere is lovely, customer service is really great, and the coffee is amazing. However the food is lacking and too expensive for not being very good at all. I mean, how do you mess up a grilled cheese??? But overall a great spot.

  • 5/5 Tim L. 6 years ago on Google
Where to start? Let’s start with the coffee. I’m a huge fan of Gracenote Coffee and they serve that stuff here. Then there are the bagels. Now they’re not the absolute best I’ve had, but I wasn’t expecting this place to have tasty bagels that are super soft on the inside. Is fluffy the right word? Anyway, do yourself a favor and come try Render out if you haven’t already. The only downside to this location is the seating. It’s surrounded by universities so be prepared to enjoy your food and beverage elsewhere.

This coffee shop is great! The cold brew and espresso were fantastic! But along with the coffee they offer some truly fantastic bagel options. The pastry case is full of delicious things like almost croissants, yoghurt cups, and big glasses of orange juice! The staff were all so friendly and super speedy. While we sat and ate our food I could see that they really did enjoy working there. That amazing attitude permeates the atmosphere and makes for the perfect place to come and eat, drink coffee, or study. I wish our stay in Boston was longer so we could visit this coffee shop more! I highly recommend this place!

Wonderful little coffee shop with a great location in the South End. Loved the outdoor, back porch seating area. Malted cold brew and chicken salad sandwich were delicious!

  • 2/5 Brian R. 4 years ago on Google
Cold brew was good. Owner was very friendly. It would have been a much better experience if we had no interaction with the barista. You would think he was doing something important based on his attitude. Being around someone for 2 minutes should not have a person want to write a negative review.

  • 5/5 Fernando S. 3 years ago on Google

Render is a cute and cozy shop. Good coffee. Bagels are yummy too! They are on the Food For All app, so it's super cool to see that they are doing their part to reduce food waste. (Also, a nice way for us customers to occasionally pick up some goodies at half off 😋 which is appreciated)

    O. M. G!!! Small and quaint. The coffee menu is small and easy to make a good choice (each selection is delish) I don't know exactly how to describe the freshly made decadent pastries that are prepared behind a huge glass windowed kitchen for your enjoyment and peace of mind....I'm hoping 5stars tells the story!
