This place was the best. We ate here twice when we visit Galena. Great customer service👌. Live band at 7pm he was funny and it's fun. Lovely fish and chip so far the best fish I've ever had in this country. Careful about that fried chicken though, it's pretty hot when they serve it but it was delicious. Love the experience looking forward to come back again. Clean bathroom.

My wife and I checked in next door 15 minutes before their kitchen closed on a Wednesday. The receptionist at the hotel recommended this place as we hadn't had dinner after our 3 hour drive. We were greeted at the bar and told the kitchen was just shut down. We asked if there were other places to dine, and he said no. After a short pause he stated he could make us a few select items from the menu. What a blessing! I don't know that I would have had better food anywhere around! The chicken sandwich and Reuben were both amazing! Will most likely return before we leave town. Such wonderful quality and customer service!

Stopped here for dinner, the place was decorated wonderfully, the food choices were amazing & so hard to choose one that me & my mom both picked one & split it! I definitely recall the chicken & I'm not really even a chicken person haha service was awesome, our server was very attentive, we did not get to see the live music but I'm sure that was fun as most live music usually is.

Great pub offering delicious drinks and authentic Irish fare. You can't help but feel a warm and welcome feeling entering this pub when greeted by a friendly host and the intricately installed wood details that surround the place. We both had the fish and chips and washed it down with an Irish Margarita which was based in Jamison whiskey. Everything was delicious and our server was both knowledgeable and attentive. The musician was terrific and kept the crowd involved by having them sing along during the songs he sang. We met numerous people at the bar that were all similarly minded and there to have a good time. We will definitely return..

As authentic as one might expect for Irish experience in Northern Illinois. Great entertainer. Mrs still raving about the reuben sandwich. Sat in The Snug. Thought the bar tender should have paid more attention to guests than washing the glasses. Whiskey prices were high relative to bottle cost and industry profit model. So....we had beer. Facility and surrounding spaces were very nice. Room was clean and cozy!

This was a wonderful experience. I had grilled pork medallion with sweet potatoe hash & broccoli, the best pork I have had. The glaze was so good. My husband had bangers & mash. Also fabulous. Our waiter Elliott was very helpful, knowledgeable with the food & bar menu. So very enjoyable. I would highly recommend if you are in the area you need to stop and enjoy this unique place.

The delicious food, live music, and the whole atmosphere at Frank O'Dowd's Irish Pub & Grill made our day-trip to Galena complete. Order the corned beef!

I recently visited Frank O’Dowd’s, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience! As a non-drinker, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming this place was. The menu was kind of small, but perfected. Every dish we ordered was amazing. The ambience was simply unparalleled. It exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, the decor and charming Irish accents transport you to the heart of Ireland itself. Service was swift and efficient, which was a delightful bonus. The staff were attentive and made sure that every aspect of our dining experience was impeccable. What truly set this pub apart, though, was the live Irish band. Their lively tunes and engaging interactions with patrons elevated the evening to a whole new level. It was like being part of a traditional Irish celebration right in the heart of Galena, Illinois.
