Another Hidden Gem I ran across on my mid-week Dinner Discovery. This place has an amazing outdoor presence with plenty of space in between tables and it’s a large amount of outdoor seating. Everything was amazing and tasted great. We had almost all the starters, all very good. My favorite of course was the calamari with shrimp. They have a great Irish beer selection and whiskey for days. The inside feels like your really in a Irish Pub in Ireland. Great atmosphere and a most try if you happen to be in the area.

My fiancé and I did our wedding shower here in early June. The shower was outside in their garden area and it was amazing! The garden area was stunning and everything was in full bloom. You didn't even feel like you were in the city. We were able to feast on their brunch buffet, which everyone love. I also have to give a big complement to the staff and owners. They were always on point with drinks, food, and whatever else any of our guests needed. They were also very nice and friendly and really added to the shower. Would 100% recommend you come here.

We encountered an inconvenience at Chief O'Neil's when we were informed that bringing our baby's stroller inside the bar or even outside on their patio was not allowed. This posed a challenge for us as we had intended to have a meal while our baby napped in the stroller. Consequently, we had to resort to letting our baby roam freely while we ate. Considering this experience, I wouldn't particularly recommend Chief O'Neil's for families with children who still rely on strollers. Additionally, I would like to mention that we were also disappointed when we were given a broken high chair. As you can see in the photo we took, the clip was clearly busted, rendering the high chair unusable. This further added to our frustration and made our dining experience even more challenging.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding at Chiefs in June! Everything was exactly what we were looking for. The garden was beautiful, the food was beyond what we expected, and the staff just so well versed in what they do. They really made our day memorable. Working with Chrissy and Siobhan during the event planning was fun, easy and stress free. Even with all that ease, they delivered in such a professional way. Thank you so much! We’ll be stopping in for a pint soon enough!

Dont think about it, just go! Came for brunch and, of course, very crowded and the place was packed which was to be expected. We were seated at the bar, which we didnt mind. The bartender was great to us--attentive, personable, and kept conversation with us when he could. Also, originally from Ireland! 😁 Learned a lot of the pub's history and talked of soccer as it was playing on the screen. The food was spectacular! Coming from a smaller city and not having anything like this, honestly, this my first brunch buffet and had no expectations whatsoever but to have an ayce brunch and aycd bloodies/mimosas. It's an A+! This place is one to remember. The selection was outstanding from table to table. Their breakfast pastries and desserts--a huge selection as well. The atmosphere was lively, just seeing families together ranging from infant to someone in their 90s. I was also able to spectate for a few seconds an Irish event happening at the same time (awesome to see). The space, decor, the people gives a feeling of warmth and comfort, making one feel at home. Thanks for an awesome experience! I can't stop raving about this place and will definitely be back.

First time coming to Chief O'Neill's for brunch. This place is an absolute gem. The outside seating is wonderful, its spacious and really green/floral. The brunch is buffet style, the food is great, so many options to choose from. Then after you fill yourself up with breakfast food, they have a vast assortment of desserts to choose from! I don't often have cookies and Crème brûlée after breakfast, but it was definitely a treat. I highly recommend coming here!

Always an amazing dinner, excellent staff, and the decor is just “chef kiss” (pun intended lol) Bonus points if you really look at the wall decor, you’ll get a little history lesson.

Our overall dining experience was good, but could have been a little better. For it being St. Patrick's Day they seemed under staffed & orders were slowly fulfilled. We started with a bowl of Baked Onion Soup (bountiful flavor but subtle) & Cheese Curd Fritti (light & fluffy) which made it to the table before we received our drinks which were a Red-Haired Lass (unimpressive to say the least in every way) along with a Magners Cider Beer (excellent if this is something you like). Our entrées were the Shepherd's Pie (the Rosemary stood out) with Fish & Chips (the Malt Vinegar was awesome & the Mushy Peas were a pleasant surprise). We ended our evening with both the Crème Brulée (average) & Bread Pudding (this was EXCELLENT! served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream but the flavor & texture were awesome & the Rasins were a delightful touch). I would recommend dining here for sure to experience the atmosphere & menu for yourself.

Beautiful outdoor space for dining. Good food, friendly and helpful service. We also enjoyed the live traditional Irish music! My only suggestion would be to add more vegetarian items to the menu and/or update the menu online. The online menu listed several interesting vegetarian options, but I was disappointed when the server told us they were no longer available.

Had a great dining experience here with a large group of friends, celebrating a birthday. They went out of their way to be of service, and played the bagpipes for my friend's birthday!! The Christmas decorations, up early but I never mind that, were simply stunning! Will be back!!

My husband & I have visited before. It is the perfect place to kick off the Lenten Season. Both meals hit the spot and that soda bread is fantastic!! We will definitely return. A fun atmosphere and a nice neighborhood gem!

Mixed feelings. We have been here before but this visit was super disappointing… To start we waited 15 mins for water. Then we waited 45 more minutes to get our soup (the restaurant was NOT busy). Then we waited ANOTHER 30 mins for our food. The food was pretty average. The waiter was not very attentive nor cared that we had to wait so long for our food. The patio is the only reason I MAY be coming back to Chief O’Neill’s Pub Restaurant.

Can't say enough good things about Chief Oniell's. We had our wedding here last month and it couldn't have gone smoothly without the staff and vendors. This place has excellent food, from the brunch to the dinner. Also, if your planning on having an event here. The staff is excellent and very accommodating.

Are you Irish? (Read till the end) If you are, you will feel at home eating here. If you are not, you will feel like an authentic Irish while eating this food. Whether it's their famous fish and chips, their poutine or their reuben sandwich, I guarantee you'll enjoy the time you spend there. Because it's not the food the only thing that makes this place special, it's their excellent team of hosts, servers, bartenders and owners and their special decorations for christmas and Saint Patrick's day. Definitely a place you must visit. (Lifehack: they have a special buffet brunch on Sundays and it's all you can eat, don't miss it!)

This bar is so cozy. The Christmas decorations are so cool and cute. The food is delicious and the Sunday brunch all you can eat is really good. The staff is friendly.

Overall good experience. Came to check out brunch for my sisters birthday given some Good reviews from word of mouth. A bit pricey, but excellent food. I give the service low stars, cause we were Never informed there was a set price for bottomless mimosas. We paid over $120 for drinks when we could saved well over $60 had we known and selected that option. Drinks were good, no doubt. But, I feel that option should’ve been given upon being sat at our table. Which is wasn’t. Also, we had to call for our plates to be collected the first 2 rounds we went for food vs them getting picked up routinely(restaurant traffic was low that’s why I bring this up). I can understand the delay if the restaurant was extremely busy, but that wasn’t the case. The plates lingering around the table, attracted many flying critter. After the 2nd time, the staff did come more often.

We had a great birthday dinner at Chief O'Neill's. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I love the Irish pub vibe. We'll definitely be going back.

I enjoyed myself & my friend did also. We had the Sunday brunch & each ordered a mimosas. There were a wide variety of foods, cold & hot. I must say, my favorite were the desserts there. I absolutely love trying new places, but this 1 is a definite return place!

I felt like I was in someone's living room with the fireplace and decor. it is a very welcoming environment. they also had live Irish Instrumental music. I had a burger , which was basic. The bottom bun was dry like a rock. My wife had fish and chips that was delicious! I will definitely go back and recommend others to visit.

Really great buffet. It’s expensive, but everything was great. We were charged extra for coffee. Thought it was weird that wasn’t included. We were sat upstairs which wasn’t as great of an atmosphere and service was slow, so I’d request sitting downstairs. It’s a cool place.

Friendly neighborhood pub with great service & delicious food. The Shepherd’s Pie is highly recommended. 🥰

  • 4/5 Jason C. 2 years ago on Google
Fish and chips were okay. Smidge greasy but it is beer battered and deep fried. rather annoyed I was not allowed to sit outside even though there were folks on the patio the claim was not enough staff so had to sit at the bar. The website could be updated as a few items/drinks aren't available. The bartender was nice and the place was fairly dead.

The Sunday brunch is incredible. Bottomless Bloody Mary and incredible food. I loved the various meats. Everyone was so nice and offered great recommendations. It is well worth the price. When I have someone I want to impress on a Sunday, I'll bring them here!

We have been coming to Chief O Neil's for decades. We decided to host a huge Birthday Party in the Beer Garden and Dining Room. We worked with Ms Shevon and she was so helpful on helping us throw a party of over 135 including 2 bars, a Buffet, and a DJ. Pauline in the outside bar greeted each guest with a huge smile and warmness. The whole staff was great. It is Chicago's Best Kept Secret. Either for a huge event up to 175 or a beer, or Sunday Brunch. Chief is the Best. Our Event was Sept 25th 2021

My fiancé and I had our wedding shower outside at Chief O’Neill’s a few weeks back. It was PERFECT! The staff and owner were so attentive and helpful through the entire process. Sasha was our server and he was the BEST! There wasn’t one guest waiting on anything and he was so kind to all of our guests. The food was so delicious! Everyone was raving about how good the fish and chips and chicken tasted. The decor and ambiance inside and out is so charming. Literally top notch service and experience at this place. We’ve been here numerous times before and we’ll definitely be back. Even some family made dates with other family to meet again at Chief O’Neill’s to have dinner Bc they had such a great experience. I would highly recommend this place for any event Bc it was wonderful! Thank you to everyone that was there to help us!

We usually love chief oniels. We just left there and we’re very disappointed. We closed on our new house today and wanted to celebrate being as though we have been on a strict budget for weeks. We got there with a reservation at 7. It wasn’t until 8:10 that we received our meal. The server was very nice and she brought us another round of beers on the house but then we just sat and waited to get cashed out. I served for 6 years before becoming a teacher and I know how sometimes restaurants can be understaffed but this was horrible. I had bussers walk by and not ask if we needed a box, our server then didn’t come back to give the check so I had to walk up to the bar to cash out. We were so excited as this was a big step in our lives and left extremely disappointed tonight. 2 stars because the food was indeed good. Just so sad how such poor service can leave a bad taste in your mouth.

They have an awesome menu. It's very focused, not too many dishes. It was still hard to pick. The outdoor patio is gorgeous as well. Definitely a good vibe here. The bar inside is also very nice and comfortable!

Wow what a find! We had a great time here. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun there was a lot of interesting photos, pictures, costumes and books to look at. They have a large bar, big indoor seating area and large, beautiful outside seating . We will be back with family! We were treated to a 10+ piece band while we ate. The waitstaff was pleasant and fast.... So glad we happened to pass by this restaurant !
