Feels so nice to run here. It’s quiet and scenic. Don’t forget there’s a 1 mile loop around the fishing pond.

It's so pretty 😍... I've been there twice now and plan to go back. It's a great place for riding your bike, running, or walking, either by yourself, with someone, or a furry companion. Feeling stressed? Got too much on your mind? I highly suggest taking a walk here, you won't regret it 🤓💜

I'm simultaneously happy and sad this place isn't as utilized as it should be. Found it after holding a large work team gathering with tons of games and food. The park employees were super helpful with that so I was happy to come back with my family. Lots of hiking trails, brilliant foliage, natural setting. I've lived in multiple places in the country and Lake County has been the best park experience of all of them.

It was a peaceful day to view the sledding hill and have a mile walk around a very pretty pond loop

It's a nice area for picnic or just nature walks. It takes about 30-35 minutes to walk around the pond if you start and finish at shelter D. The only downside to this shelter- it doesn't have any electric outlets. Looks like they were removed at some point. Should you want to boil some water or make coffee - it won't work there. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the area. It is close to highway but it doesn't interfere with whatever activities you may plan.

We hosted a party here. The shelters are positioned far enough away so other parties do not disturb, and the scenery is very nice. The shelters are large enough to fit many people, and we could easily fit the 40ish people. The policeman that came by to remind us that it was almost time to leave was very nice.

Very nice FP. Nice 1 mile loop through the forest. Well maintained. Great place for a short walk. Sledding Hill looks enticing!

Beautiful forest preserve, found it while I was searching for forest preserves around the Northshore area. I absolutely love the one way road that circles it. Amazing for walking, biking, and scenic driving. One of a kind!

Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville, IL is a beautiful and well-maintained park that is perfect for birthday parties. The park has a variety of amenities, including picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, and trails. There is also a large open space that is perfect for setting up games and activities. I recently visited shelter B to celebrate my friend daughter's birthday party at Old School Forest Preserve and it was a huge success. We had a picnic lunch, played games, and went for a walk on the trails. The kids had a blast and the adults enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The park was very clean and the facilities were well-maintained. The picnic tables were shaded and there were plenty of grills available. The trails were also well-maintained and easy to follow. Overall, I highly recommend Old School Forest Preserve for birthday parties. It is a beautiful and well-maintained park with a variety of amenities that are perfect for kids and adults alike.

We had a fun picnic there with a good shelter and pretty clean restroom close by and water fountain next to us as well. That was great!

My husband and I had so much fun we walked. We acted like little kids and we did the exercise obstacle course they had. It was great. Thank you so much. I wish we had something like this closer to us. October 22, 2022

We went to enjoy a walk on the lighted path. Even with a full moon, it was extremely dark. Many of the lights were not working on the path and signage was not lit. Beautiful forest preserve during the day, but I won't be back for an evening walk.

What I love most about Old School is the dedicated pedestrian lane on the road. It's such a nice, lightweight way to get in some quick exercise. Every once in a while there will be a clueless loon riding or walking outside of the lane, but ya know...people. The drinking fountain is priceless when riding the Des Plaines River Trail. The preserve also seems to be home to more bucks than any other preserve.

We love the place. The areas are clean, enough place to play, walk and explore with family and friends.

Beautiful forest preserve in Libertyville, IL. Many walking paths, fields & lakes to enjoy. Sledding hill backs up to I 94 highway.

Beautiful park with various parking areas and trails of different lengths. The only reason I give it a 4 is that certain things didn't make sense. Many of the mile markers were missing in the woods, many some area didn't have trash cans, there was an ash disposal pit at one place but didn't see any outdoor grill spaces or patios, and the exercise spaces need some TLC.

Beautiful forest preserve for a leisurely walk through the woods in the late afternoon. Not a lot of people around and it was really peaceful here despite being by the expressway and smaller than most preserves. Extremely well maintained trail with bathrooms as well. Did a combination of the blue trail and yellow trail with the dog in about 45 minutes. Will return for a longer walk!

Absolutely gorgeous to visit in fall. Trail system is quite short (1-3mi) but packed with great views including locally famous sled hill.

Today I decided to get off the expressway and visit this place that I saw before when driving by and I'm glad I did, lots of places to go with nice views, you can even drive from one site to another within the park, I went to the sledding hill where you get amazing views specially before sunset, there's a pond next to it were you can go fishing. I'm definitely going back.
