An extremely cozy one-of-a-kind coffee shop. Their breakfast food is amazing! The ham sandwich was one of the best I had in my entire life! It must have been made with fresh, high-quality ham. The scones are baked right there, and you can see the dough for the future batches rising in the fridge. A+ place worth stopping by at!

Good coffee shop in downtown Libertyville! I came here and took my coffee to Independence Grove which made for a fun day. The inside of here was very cute with and included a nice fire place. I got a vanilla latte which was okay - not the best coffee I’ve had but not the worst.

Sad that you’ve been closed for the past 4 months... probably the only business still closed. I used to love coming here for great food, great coffee, and great atmosphere! You care about the customers but not enough to safely reopen for curbside pick up or take out. Slightly disappointing.

Super great coffee spot, as a first time new comer to this shop I can gladly say it’s worth your money. They’re such friendly people and when asked what they recommended she recommended the biscuit with sausage and egg and man was that delicious! Biscuits are homemade and the iced coffee is super good too! Really just made my experience amazing. They deserve the 5 star’s and continued support.

We discovered this adorable coffee shop while in the area for Navy boot camp graduation. Terrific service from the most friendly people and the best cup of coffee I’ve had since moving away from Denver last year. Homemade biscuits are happy bonus, too!

Wow! The White Chocolate Chocolate Mocha is AMAZING! The owner makes your coffee... and it is obvious she shares her gift with the world, one cup at a time! My students are working on a Civics project to get signatures for a candidate to get on the ballot for state office. She allowed the students to ask for signatures in the coffee shop, even though our candidates are not in the party she represents. We had such a wonderful conversation. It was beautiful that people of difference can share a moment of kindness and respect for each other. The issues of our society can be identified and fixed by engaging in moments that matter at Coffee shops around this nation... like Birdys.

Food, coffee, and service are all fantastic. Breakfast sandwich is delicious. Pour over coffee was one of the best I've had. The owner brought me a free smoothie after my meal, for no reason other than being nice.

TLDR: The younger employees need better training and I was very disappointed after waiting over 20min for one drink. I love supporting local businesses, but I had a hard time with this one. I've had a little over a week to think about it, because I was contemplating writing a review in the first place. I was excited to try this place because I've stumbled in here a couple times but never got a chance to order. On arrival, it seemed very homey. Somewhat cluttered in a little corner, but there's a fireplace and lots of seating. The girl taking our order seemed flustered and the staff behind her was not shy to tell her when she was in the wrong. The menu was on a chalkboard, but everything was a bit overpriced. We ordered a chai latte, a regular latte, a breakfast sandwich, and a chocolate croissant. Our total was almost $30. I WAITED OVER 20MIN FOR MY CHAI. I stood in front of the counter while a couple employees asked if I got my order yet. I watched the kid behind the counter struggle to make it and after the 20mins, he placed my finished chai on his side of the counter and didn't mention he finished making it. The sandwich was alright, but we had to give them the latte back because it was 90% foam. After trying the chai we waited so long for, we were already agitated from waiting so long, and the chai didn't taste like anything but watered down milk. Not what I expected after waiting for so long for it. We asked for a refund and tried to give everything back but the worker (I think she was the owner) was VERY kind. She gave our money back with no hesitation and even told us to keep the croissant and drinks. I believe she also makes the pastries. After tasting the croissant, and seeing her kindness, we felt bad for asking for our money back but we were just really disappointed. This women def seems to love what she does and you can see it in her pastries and her kindness. I see the potential this place has and I see the good reviews people have left. My only advice to this establishment is that better training gets done. The younger employees were definitely the downside of this place.

This place makes the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The coffee is fantastic, the service is great and I wish they served dinner!!!

Very attentive and friendly staff or maybe the owner. She also gave me the smoothie sample to try. Quite unique among coffee shops around.

First time here. It wasn’t very busy and it took almost 25 minutes to get a cheese & egg biscuit to go, then they got the order wrong. The coffee and food were good. I’d like to give them another chance, but this was not a great experience.

Rustic aesthetic that is borderline elegant. Best baked goods I've had in Illinois. Cold brew is rich in flavor. Cappuccino is solid. Workers are quality folk. My wallet is lucky they're not open every weekday.

We’ve lived in the area for years & it was our first time visiting. We came for lunch & they did not disappoint! My husband & I bought had chicken salad tartines, which were delicious! We brought our 3 & 5 y/o boys who loved their smoothies & chips. I wish I would have gotten some of their delicious baked goods.. but next time. However… I did get a healthier granola snack which also amazing! Definitely a gem! Everyone behind the counter was so nice & the feel is like you’re in a friends kitchen. 😀

Quaint little spot in Libertyville. Pretty good food. A tad pricey for breakfast, but overall pretty good. The owner is very nice, ham is real carved vs. packaged, which is always a plus. Biscuits were slightly dry and crumbly (not my preference), but not so much that it wasn’t still tasty. I would say check this place out for a decent breakfast option.

Birdy's is my favorite breakfast spot in Libertyville. And that's really saying somethinh, because we have plethora of some of the best breakfast spots in the county if not the state. First of all, it's one of the coolest little buildings on Main Street. A little log cabin looking spot just on the outskirts of the main strip and next to the train tracks. I was sad when the caribou coffee, which used to occupy the building, closed. Not because I went there often, in fact my only memory of ever purchasing anything there was a hot chocolate as a young kid. But because it was a Libertyville staple, and it just fit. Birdy's fits even better. The food is as interesting as it is delicious. Best bacon, egg and cheese biscuit of my life. Don't shy away from the onions - they're unreal even if it's not traditional on a breakfast sandwich. If you like spicy, the habanero salsa will blow your socks off and clear up your sinuses for a week. I haven't even ventured into the rest of the menu because I love the biscuit so much. The green smoothie is also amazing and tastes nothing like it looks 😅 Then there's the people. The staff are great, the owner is amazingly kind and generous, and the patrons are the kind of people I like to be around. Everytime I go there I seem to somehow get into a friendly conversation. Birdy's is a new Libertyville staple but it's already amongst the best.

They've got a fantastic breakfast sandwich, and their scones are absolutely amazing, but dear lord are they expensive! Especially for the amount of food you get. $6 for a 12oz mocha, when you can get a large mocha from Hansa next door for 4.75. Also if you want a runny yolk with your breakfast sandwich, it's 1.50 extra??

Coffee and food were delicious. Staff was nice, but a bit absent minded. They let our cinnamon roll burn while it was being warmed up and struggled to get all of our order out.

Maria (the Proprietor *&* Chef) literally *is* the best! My 5 year old Grandson and I spent 2.5 hours there today (rainy morning thwarted all holiday plans), .. of which a full hour was spent just talking and hanging with Maria. I know it was an unusually slow day (holiday / rain, etc), .. and this is not a customary thing. And I usually don't have such time either. But that's part of the sweetness .. walking into a place a little slower, more simple, ... and where genuine kindness (especially to the Kiddos) matters! The other Staff is also nice. My Family likes their food, desserts, and drinks. I've only had the pleasure of a scone and tea, and green smoothie (delicious*&* NUTRITIOUS), from previous visits. I also like supporting a homemade foods, .. local, small, woman owned business. Thank you, Maria - .. you're amazing. Thank you, Birdy's.

The food is really great and the best part is the staff, everybody is very friendly and helpful, they make sure you only get the very best :) They have yummy smoothie bowls and also great lunch & dinner options, must try!

Cute place, good coffee, hot chocolate came with a marshmallow peep which is a nice touch for the kiddo. Sandwich with sausage and egg was great. It was a bit more expensive than I expected, but then both my daughter and I were full from a single sandwich, so definitely will go back

  • 5/5 Christopher D. 4 years ago on Google
Really happy with this: food this close to a train station is rarely this good! Really nice folks, good food, not expensive. She gave me a free side of their house-made jalapeño sauce, just because she wanted me to try it. They're actively friendly like that. On a Saturday at 10, most people were eating in pairs, with a few singles working on laptops. So they seem fine with you if you sit with just a coffee or order a sandwich.

Charming coffee shop. Kept the rustic decor (fireplace, stone) from its previous life as Caribou. Very clean and friendly service. Delicious coffee and pastries. Coffee Is local Hansa brand. Cherry scone was light and not too sweet. There wre other tempting fresh baked goodies on display. They also make fresh breakfast sandwiches. Selection looked good with healthful options. Will return to try more. This is a local shop worth supporting.

Excellent biscuits for both the sandwich and breakfast we had. Everyone was very friendly and helpful!

  • 5/5 Matt J. 4 years ago on Google
The biscuit was perfect, flaky and crunchy. The sauce and jam that come standard were incredible and that's weird for me to note but they were that standout. It's nice to see such thoughtful touches and attention to detail. Coffee was good, not exceptional but the best I've had in the area. Staff was very friendly and engaging. Ambience was warm and inviting, sort of like a southern porch with zero pretense. Music was a little louder and more present than I'd prefer if I were trying to get work done but definitely good for knocking out email and reflecting which is probably the right tone for the train crowd. The only thing I would have liked to have seen more of are couches. This is a mom and pop place. They are critical to our community and must be supported! Even if this was a franchise it would have my money but that it has an owner I can speak to? Five stars! Can't wait to bring friends, family, and coworkers.

A great addition to downtown Libertyville and another awesome option for morning coffee and breakfast near the train. Try one of the breakfast sandwiches on a homemade biscuit. Friendly staff always make you feel welcome whether grabbing a quick coffee to go or sitting to work for a couple hours.

Good morning Taylor I read your post and I think it is very offensive ,I love this coffee shop and its better to wait 4 months like you said and be safe. There are other restaurants that had been for open for this whole time and their employees are coming positive with covid19 you should be careful about this places god bless you
