TL;DR
IF
YOU'RE
HAVING
A
TRUE
MEDICAL
EMERGENCY,
FIND
ANOTHER
ER!!
$300
and
a
waste
of
hours
of
our
time
to
not
get
seen.
Went
to
the
ER
with
my
partner
last
week
as
she
was
having
bad
stomach
cramps
and
pain
lasting
for
days.
We
went
there
after
a
referral
from
a
local
Urgent
Care
clinic,
so
she
got
vitals
taken
after
maybe
a
half
hour
and
nothing
after
that.
We
were
charged
$300
(despite
her
having
health
insurance),
and
told
to
wait
in
the
waiting
room
with
dozens
of
other
patients.
When
we
had
first
arrived,
I
overheard
an
elderly
woman
in
a
wheelchair
being
told
the
current
wait
time
was
17
hours;
that
should've
been
my
red
flag
right
away.
We
were
never
given
an
actual
time
estimate,
but
we
got
vitals
taken
relatively
quickly
and
assumed
it
wouldn't
be
too
long
of
a
wait.
Alas,
after
that
we
waited
for
over
7
hours
with
no
updates.
None
of
the
staff
coming
through
had
any
idea
how
long
the
wait
time
would
be,
no
other
patients
were
even
called
in
at
that
time.
I
should
note
this
was
a
fairly
small
area
to
pack
so
many
people,
not
to
mention
we
were
right
near
an
entrance
where
COVID-positive
patients
seemed
to
be
coming
in
and
out.
Talk
about
a
health
hazard,
especially
considering
most
of
the
people
waiting
to
be
seen
were
sick
or
elderly.
And
it's
not
like
we
could've
went
to
the
car
to
wait
our
turn;
your
name
is
called
out
a
few
times
as
they
randomly
take
attendance,
and
if
you're
not
there
for
roll
call
you're
struck
from
the
list.
So,
we
waited
for
7-8
hours
and
around
2am
we
finally
decided
we
were
too
uncomfortable
and
tired
to
keep
waiting.
My
partner
went
home
and
booked
a
telehealth
appointment
with
her
PCP
the
next
day
(technically
that
same
day).
IT
WAS
LITERALLY
EASIER
TO
MAKE
AN
APPOINTMENT
WITH
A
DOCTOR
THAN
TO
GO
TO
AN
"EMERGENCY"
ROOM.
When
we
contacted
Customer
Service
later
that
week
to
ask
for
a
refund
as
we
were
never
seen,
it
was
then
revealed
to
us
that
the
$300
charge
was
for
a
nurse
taking
vitals
specifically.
Incredulously,
we
asked
for
confirmation;
$300
for
vitals
when
that'd
be
completely
covered
during
a
visit
with
a
PCP?
And
here's
the
kicker,
they
left
us
on
read.
We'll
continue
pursuing
a
refund
for
our
hardships,
but
truly
this
is
nothing
short
of
a
scam.
Let
me
make
this
very
clear:
Rush
doesn't
care
about
your
health.
Rush
just
wants
your
money.
I'm
sure
the
doctors
and
staff
care
about
people,
but
there
was
no
system
in
place
to
ensure
patients
were
seen
in
a
timely
fashion
or
even
communicated
with.
If
you're
having
a
real
medical
emergency,
I'm
begging
you
to
go
elsewhere.
If
you're
sitting
in
that
waiting
room
right
now,
leave
and
find
another
ER.
