Beautiful place and view, however you cannot see/visit inside the castle as the Prince of Vaduz lives there. But it worth a quick visit if you are passing by.

A landmark of the city of Valduz. Unfortunately it was under renovation when we visited early May 23, full of scaffolding. Additionally it is not possible to visit i side. We park at the free parking lots few hundred meters after the castle

Great experience walking up to see one of the oldest castles in this part of Europe. There is a walking path take a around 30 min. Don’t use car. Nature is beautiful and you would not regret. Vaduz Castle lies on a hillside 120 metres above Vaduz. It is the symbol of the capital and can be seen from far away. It is thought that the castle was constructed as a fortress as early as the 12th century, before living quarters were added in 1287. Vaduz Castle is first mentioned in documents dating back to 1322.The castle came into the ownership of the Princely Family in 1712 and the west wing served as the family's official residence until 1732. However, after that the building became increasingly dilapidated and fell into disrepair before being rebuilt and renovated between 1905 and 1912. Under Prince Franz Josef II the castle was extended and once again made fit for living. In 1939 the Prince moved in with his family and adopted Vaduz Castle as his official residence. Unfortunately, the castle is closed to visitors. However, guided tours of Vaduz and the Princely Theatre give interesting insights into the history of the castle and the Princely House.

A small, beautiful castle with a magnificent picturesque background of Swiss alps. Yes it is a view you should experience personally. Serene and peaceful up there. Its a 700 year old castle still inhabited by the royal family and open to the public only once a year on August 15. The prince still lives here. Reaching here by walking from the downtown is much better than driving, since you experience and absorb the beautiful views more. There is a small observation deck on the way to the castle from where you can see the entire town of Vaduz and the surroundings snow capped Alps.
It is a pity that the castle is not open for the public. You walk all the way up to the mountain just to watch it from the outside.

There is quite a bit of hiking involved to get to this castle. Luckily , there are many informational placards places along the way for you to read while resting on the benches. The hike is most of the fun as you can’t enter the castle under normal circumstances. Worth going on a warm day for a nice view.

Gorgeous location to take pics. The view around the castle is awesome. Could not visit due to construction and I don't think anyone can visit this castle. Worth going up the hill. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. Parking nearby is free. Free restroom right by free parking, too.

As we came to know, this is the official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. Therefore we couldn't enter the castle. But this is beautiful and historically important. The city is neat and beautiful. It is very easy to access and there are a few parking spaces 200 meters after the castle. If you're in northwest Switzerland or western Austria it's more easy and worth a quick visit

Not much you can see to be honest. It's not accessible to the public. Other than making the grumpy security guy anxious , there isn't much to do. Haha. But you do get some nice views of the city below if you decide to walk up there. The castle is being renovated these days, so it's really not worth the visit.

Whe castle is 10 min from the main street in Vaduz. You have to go up a mountain path with a amazing view over the city and the Swiss alps. The castle also look very cool, but what a shame that you can't visit the castle because the Royal familiy lives in the castle. Thats why i giv it a bit lower score. You dont have much to do when visiting the castle

Like everyone previously said, you can not go inside (the royal family still lives here) so if you choose to go to the top there is a beautiful view to take photos . A good ten minutes should suffice.

The private residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein, the castle sits on top of a hill overlooking Vaduz. To reach the castle, you'll need to hike for about 30 minutes from the Vaduz city centre. The hike is quite easy, with signboards along the way telling you the story of Liechtenstein. The view gets better as you reach the top too, with a great view of Vaduz and the surrounding mountains. While you cannot enter the castle, the scenery offers a lot of great photo opportunity. As this is an outdoor activity, be sure to wear appropriate clothing and check the weather before proceeding.

A beautiful castle 🏰 that looks stunning from the town of Vaduz. Even more beautiful in person and up close. However just nice to take just photos as you can’t go onto the property. The prince actually lives there. He has a very nice home!

It’s a private castle, no internal access. It oversees a nice view, though. I was expecting a bit more but for me, it’s a short stop on the way to Malbun(must go). It is 30min activity, limited parking slots, and a WC available at car parking.

Note that the public is not allowed in the castle, but it's worth going up there for the view and to see the exterior.

No open to visits as the royal family lives there so you can go up and take a picture, 10 minutes is more than enough.

Castle was under construction. And obviously no visiting inside but it has a nice view from the top.

I would love to give this 5 stars, however... the castle has been the primary residence of Liechtenstein's Princely Family. The castle is not open to the public as the princely family still lives in the castle. I simply can not give 5 stars to a castle, I can't experience, so 4 stars it is. I hope the House of Liechtenstein does not take this personally. However, the views are really quite beautiful, there are really nice walking trails nearby, and the castle parking was quite convenient.

The castle on the mountain, of course, looks very interesting. But you can’t see it like that, we didn’t go up the mountain. The places are very beautiful. But the city of Vaduz itself evokes an ambivalent feeling. Authentic old farmhouses are combined with state-of-the-art glass and concrete buildings. There is no clear old city center, as is the case in many cities in Germany. Sheep and cows graze right in the center of the city. Opposite is an ultra-modern building in the style of green ecology. Funny! In addition to the cathedral and a couple of museums, there is nothing else to see in the city. The only thing is that the nature and mountains here, of course, are amazing.

It looked really cool, but under heavy renovations and no easy way to get up there... so, I peered on it from afar.

Visited Vaduz. But the castle was not accessible as it was under maintenance . Vaduz as a whole is a pretty and cosy place. Great ambience

Worth the visit for the scenic view and the history behind the location, but tours of the interior aren’t offered as it is still a private residence. Accessible both by driving up the side of the mountain and walking, just be prepared for difficulty in finding parking nearby.

Vaduz Castle is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, which it overlooks from an adjacent hilltop. Since 1712 it has been in the possession of the Prince of Liechtenstein. Furthermore, since 1938 it has been the residence of the prince's family, so it is not open to the public. You can enjoy a nice hike up to the castle or drive. If you drive just around the corner there is parking. From the parking you can walk down and enjoy the stunning view. Beautiful places to take photos. Lovely site.

You won't be able to look inside, but it's definitely worth a short stop. Even from the outside, the castle is very nice, the surroundings are picturesque and the views are breathtaking. Attention, the nearby parking lot has a rather small capacity.

Built almost 700 years ago it's in possession with prince of Liechtenstein. Can only be visited from outside as it is private property. Parking is available if you're visiting by car. The walk up to the castle is lovely and scenic. On one special day of the year, August 15th, lucky locals and visitors gain a glimpse of the interior of Vaduz Castle.

View from the castle is amazing. Parking is free. Castle is private. I wish i knew this before i went there. Because you cannot get inside the castle. Google says Liechtenstein is known for its castles, i really did not understand why. 😐. Castle can also be reached by foot from the centre

Beautiful old castle located in Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 You can park app. 100 metres from the place, and you can get some great fotos of the castle and the mountains in the background 🏔️ However there is not much to see at this location, since you can't enter the castle. This means that you are done after 5 minutes. All in all, 3/5 ⭐

Castle was closed. But the road on our way to the castle was full of amazing view and dangerous turns.

The castle can be approached easily by car and offers scenic view of the area. It is closed for the public and only open for private.

Sorry to the prince and his family, that we just stayed outside of the walls by ourselves, talking about what a nice view there is from there. Next time we shall ask for an audience to be more inclusive, and hopefully have a stimulating conversation between people with (most probably) very different points of view. I know that's not REALLY a review, but a castle doesn't actually need reviews, does it?
