Next Gen Adelaide’s facilities are pretty disgusting there is some type of growth on the walls of the bathroom, hair on the floors, algae in the water fountain. Seems like management or the owners don’t prioritise cleanliness at all. It’s pretty crazy that this is considered one of the premium gyms when it’s so run down.

Large and well equipped gym complex near the city centre. Includes big variety of things to do: indoor and outdoor pools, hot spa, wet and dry saunas, fully equipped gym, tennis courts, and excellent kitchen if you get hungry.

The facilities at the club are amazing. I have used the cafe, gym and tennis at the club so far and have loved it. The next gen app needs to improve. I think for such a prestige club there should be an option to enter the gates using the phone/app rather than carrying a physical card at all times. The customer service at the reception has improved a lot since I joined the club with some very nice staff members. There are still some people at the reception who are not polite. Sales team needs to improve as I have heard lots of negative comments.

Very disappointed in the quality of the gym & facilities, have been a member for many years, the gym equipment is falling apart, no lights outside when doing a morning swim, constants wet towels and body hairs in the gold bathrooms, where the tiles are falling off the walls & mould present. Many emails to membership team with no replies, expecting to increase membership fees when they cant maintain the cleanliness or functions of the basics. Very much needing a major upgrade & a lot of members speaking of this!

First time back after COVID19. Everything was super clean. Mitzi the instructor fabulous and welcomed a very small class back. It's good to be back. Shane the maintenance contractor had nice little chat aswell. Well done next Gen.under the circumstances.😁

It's time to bring back extended opening hours guys! Pandemic is over and being kicked out of the pool at 9 is unreasonable. You are afterall offering a premium experience

Pool over last few weeks has been disgusting. Water is murky and lots of sand on the bottom. Today was yet again very disappointing very murky water and lots of sand on the bottom and a most unusual chemical smell. Many people chose not to swim or take classes today for that reason. Time to do something urgently about the pool before people get sick Congratulations to all the team who cleaned and vacuumed the sand from the bottom of the pool the following day. 6/3/23 Unfortunately 10 days later the pool is exactly the same. Told by duty manager Daniel today the pool had been cleaned overnight, if management is happy with that quality of cleaning then standards at Next Gen have hit an all time low . Also told waiting on a new part for filtering system does that mean the pool is not being filtered correctly therefore posing a health risks to anyone exercising or swimming in the pool. Have heard this excuse for weeks now! If a wanted to get sandy feet I would go to the beach to exercise but instead I come to a supposedly top class gym and pay for the privilege, time to do something urgently about the state of the pool. Several people are choosing not to use these facilities for that reason .

Next Gen a multi national company and this is how they run livestreaming classes. They offer livestream classes due to restricted numbers allowed in classes. This mornings Pilates at 10.30am there was no image just sound. Then the 11.30am Yoga started off working but 8 mins into the class the image started breaking up, it did correct itself only to then have no sound for the remainder of the 45min class. I've complained via they feedback channel a number of times but things don't change much. You can allocate time in your day to do a livestream class and If you are lucky it might actually work properly. I attend other online livestream classes from other businesses in Adelaide and they all work perfect ever time. So what's up Next Generation????????:(

The gym areas and equipment are pretty good. Great range and quality. The membership lockers upstairs need updating and regular cleans more often especially considering the extra cost for that area. Some of the staff at the reception in the afternoons and weekends, and staff in the cafe/restaurant in the mornings are can be a bit rude and dismissive. There is also lack of communication with staff and with customers with what is under each membership tier and at this point I don’t see much difference considering the cost which is disappointing. Have had months of using the rackets there for the squash courts with no payment and no issues, then to be rudely told one day I can’t do that and have to pay. What’s the point of paying for platinum if you don’t get anything different except for outdated bathrooms with mould upstairs ? In general the gym is good but could use some changes to the staffing and some updating to the bathrooms and squash courts.

Offers a lot on paper delivers not much. Tired and not well maintained building and equipment. Female showers are revolting drains blocked every time I used them water overflows and loads of hair sitting in the drain. Fungal infections after using the pool on numerous occasions. Water balance needs checking and decks cleaning properly. Shame as I was looking forward to being a next gen user but I can't go back too unhygienic.

Unfortunately you can’t get through to find out membership prices. I would have liked to join, but based on the extremely poor customer service this won’t be happening. The prices must be severely overpriced if they can’t even return your call. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME THEY DONT WANT YOUR BUSINESS!!!

Prices are high. Poor customer service at the reception, there is a lady there that looks to hate their work. Premium facilities out of service for months. Gym change room always smells feaces. I've sent an email asking to cancel and they never replied. I asked to cancel at the reception, they told it is cancelled automatically but they still sending letters charging a fortune. When call to cancel they put on hold forever. They should renovate everything to charge what they are charging and fire the oldest reception staff.

This lifestyle centre comes at their customers with every angle making it inviting and various things to do will surely inspire you. They have been in the lead for the last 20 years in my opinion. Worth the money even if you don’t go all the time because it incorporates luxury, sport and fun. I would love to see GOLD Members like myself who pay premium membership to have at least 2 free hours of crèche per day and the hours of crèche should be longer because it’s really hard to get there between current crèche hours. If they listen to my suggestion and do this then they would be in the lead forever xx

The biggest issue I encountered at this gym is the unhygienic behaviour displayed by some of the older members. I witnessed instances that left me uncomfortable and concerned for the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the facility. For instance, I came across an older member who was using the communal hair dryer in an inappropriate manner whist naked, legs spread open and one leg on a chair, drying his crack and ball area. When I addressed the issue, I was met with aggression and dismissiveness from the member named Joe. He insisted that this behaviour was acceptable, claiming that the air flows in and out, making it harmless. Such incidents make it uncomfortable for others to use the shared amenities. Another incident involved an older member pouring water on the dry sauna element, despite being asked not to. Their response was that they have been doing it for years, disregarding the concerns raised by others. Additionally, older members frequently neglect to use towels in the sauna, leaving behind sweat and other residues between the slats of the seating area. These practices compromise the cleanliness and overall experience for all members. Moreover, I observed an older male member spitting into the pool water whilst doing walking exercises. This not only demonstrates a lack of consideration for others but also poses a health risk. These types of behaviours should not be tolerated within a gym environment. Turning to the management, I am extremely disappointed as I have been waiting for the promised credit for two months now. This credit was offered to me because I made attempts to sign up for the gym but received no response. I visited the gym in person, used a free day pass, and provided all my details on three different occasions before finally being offered a membership. Despite their assurance, I have yet to receive the credit, which reflects poorly on their professionalism and customer service. When I reported the hairdryer incident and expressed my concerns about the hygiene of older members, the management's response was disconcerting. They claimed that they could do nothing about the behaviour as it involved the use of a "communal hairdryer" and that similar issues were observed in both men's and women's change rooms. This passivity towards maintaining hygiene standards reflects a lack of responsibility on their part. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness of the gym is questionable. Numerous reviews, including mine, have pointed out issues such as bathroom mould and consistently dirty urinals. Hairdryers also require frequent sanitisation, and a warning sign would be helpful. It's disheartening to hear daily conversations among members discussing the declining cleanliness of the gym. It seems that good members are leaving while unhygienic practices go unaddressed, which raises concerns about the gym's management and business model. Shifting focus to the café, I experienced a few disappointments. On one occasion, I fell ill after consuming the eggs they served. The wait staff consistently display rudeness and disinterest in providing basic customer service, often forgetting to provide cutlery unless reminded. The juice machine has remained broken for the entire duration of my membership, and despite raising the issue, there seems to be no progress in resolving it. Although there is a new head chef, I still feel hesitant to order anything beyond the salad and smoked salmon. It appears that these options require minimal preparation, which might explain why they are safer choices. In conclusion, my experience at this gym has been mixed, with notable concerns regarding hygiene, management, and the café. Potential members, especially younger ones, should take these issues into consideration before deciding to join. The lack of action regarding unhygienic practices, poor management responses, and unsatisfactory café experiences diminish the overall appeal of this gym. Edit: thanks owner for the completely poor, irrelevant and dismissive response. It really cements my point

Very good gym. Staff can sometimes be a bit wobbly, but on the whole a truly premium “club” experience you won’t experience anywhere else in SA.

Class timetables are not properly updated…every time we come in we waste a trip (great for the environment) as we can’t get into the pool with our daughter. Either let them in at one end during the classes or make more time for free swimming AND update your timetables. Maybe an idea to include the times it’s open for free swimming (not just lane swimming as no one wants a child in the lanes. Also, showers and floors are revolting. Old plasters and god knows what. Had to leave when I forgot my flip flops last time.

The next Gen doesn’t care about maintenance in the building. One day spa is out of order another they steam room and another they sauna out off order. The sand filter for spa is broken for a week but no action has been done. Always sauna room is dirty and all shower rooms is full of mould.

I just wanted to congratulate the chef in the Gym's Cafe. His initiative for the Dracula Burger was fabulous. The flavour was well worth the weight gain! Just love the theatrics of the 'fangs'! Nice work chef! PS the Cannelloni easily surpassed a recent experience at a well regarded city Italian restaurant too. This cafe could well be rated my favourite eating spot... a big call! I'll have to keep that quiet! Quality service from the young man, great communication.... you better yourself a burger before they sell out.

Next Gen is the best gym in Adelaide, or anywhere I've been really. Lovely staff, great facilities, relaxed atmosphere, all ages welcome. It's a lifestyle club, more than a gym. Aquatics, classes, traditional gym floor, tennis, squash.....good food, awesome coffee, lovely cafe staff. Nice and light and bright, spacious, easy parking. Awesome gym!

There is no free trial option so make very sure you know exactly what it is your needing to do before you pay as in my case as I ended up paying $26.33 per visit to swim 25 laps of a 25 metre pool.

This is a swimmer's dream, an oasis in the city. I can swim all year around and have the choice of an indoor and outdoor pool for those hot summer days. The Cafe is a great place to relax after the gym and swim. Staff super helpful and friendly. All types of fitness levels catered for and classes to suit you. Age and/or weight is not issue, don't let these things stop you from making a positive start. I did, you can too!

Have been a member for 5 months since moving to Adelaide, I was also a member in my native Auckland before relocation. I have only had positive experiences at Next Gen Gym, the facilities are really very good. The pool & tennis facilities are particularly good, although I have learnt to avoid the pool on Saturday mornings when the kids lessons are on😂 I will continue with my membership as a top class health club membership for me is non negotiable.

Website is poor .. no hours of opening listed Phone system poor … no answering service that provides information on whether open or not . Both things are basic for a modern business. Great facilities but little attention to the public. They often close the bar early as it suits them not the members They don’t care too much about customer service. Today 5 staff behind the bar with a line forming … they leave one staff member to serve while others continue wrapping cutlery , wiping surfaces and grinding coffee etc … you can just wait .. they are artificially busy . They need a manager who has heard of service first , cleaning second!

Been a member here for 15 plus years (with a 2 year break whilst overseas) honestly wouldn’t get a membership anywhere else. The facilities are world class and it’s a relaxing environment too.

Being going to the gym here for about a year! Don’t think I can ever move to other gyms. Sanitation is frequent. No disgusting smells. People are kind & considerate. Cafe has affordable but top notch food. NextGen is home for me!

Poor management. Today is the second day I go to the Next Gen and they don’t have towels. I had to go back home. Providing towel is part of the contract you get from the beginning. They simply don’t care. I’ll post photos and videos on how dirty and disgusting are shower areas for Gold members. A simple maintenance will take years and they have to redo the job many times over again. I went to other branches in Melbourne and they are by far better than this branch in Adelaide. I’m not sure if this is what we deserve to get in Adelaide. Poor management! Health hazardous environment! Disrespectful to clients! Breaching the contract terms! One of the rare positives is the staff. Front desk staff are good and helpful (%80) If you have better options go for them. NextGen can simply ruin your day and routines.

I have been a member for 15+years but have not seen the facilities run down as at present. I visited next gen, as regularly do, between 6 and 7 today. Went up to the gym where several of the equipment I use were out of action, some of them for many months some for several months. The gym instruments are poorly maintained or not maintained at all and several of them are hard to adjust. Next tried to go to the steam room. The steam room and sauna were both closed. So I went to take a shower. The shower area is and has been filthy for months and smells bad (probably poor drainage). There is mould on most the metal grids that cover the drains, between the wall tiles, on the ceiling and on the doors. Some of the doors jam, some door latches missing bits or jam. Screws are missing, and there are some really bad rust stains. Cleaning is next to none. Back to the locker room, the doors on the lockers have locks that are, at best, light duty, and are in various stages of disrepair. Most of the plates that are supposed to keep the doors locked are bent so a 'locked' door is not really locked and does not provide much security for valuables, some of them can be opened by putting a hand between the door and frames and simply forcing it open. The locks, which are not much better those on luggages, often jam. Around 7, leaving next gen, I attempted to provide feedback at reception. I did not get further than both the steam room and sauna out of action, when the receptionist argued that the steam room was off for an hour for maintenance. I noted that it was not as good idea to close the steamroom for maintenance when the sauna is also out of action and that there was a maintenance sign but no-one maintaining the steam room when I was there. The receptionist repeated that the steamroom was off for an hour for maintenance. Instead of arguing I decided to provide public feedback (for the first time) in this forum. Yes, superb location and superb facilities if they were new, or properly maintained. They are not. Maintenance/asset management is close to zero and, as my case illustrates, there is little interest in feedback and making things better. I will not recommend nextgen Adelaide and I am looking for alternatives at present but saddened how low the place got over the years.
