If you love your pet, you will NOT take them here. My dog has been coming to Banfield for 8 years until now. I've gone to several different Banfield locations and they have amazing service and treat my dog very well. However, this Banfield location (N Elston) is the worst. I've brought my dog here for a couple of visits. After every visit, she is really unhappy. She immediately has to go to the bathroom as if she had not been outside for a potty break all day. She comes home and drinks bowls of water as if she wasn't allowed to drink the whole day. It takes my dog a few days to recover from the visit. I will never take her back to them again. Also, when my dog was sick, they said they would not see my dog until 5 weeks out since that was the next available appointment time. It takes them 5 tries to actually schedule the appointment. I would highly recommend seeking out other places for your pet.

Edit- My dog passed away. She had a liver problem that was never diagnose by Banfield. They always told my she was overweight when in reality she was swollen. Will never take any other of my pets here. So many years paying for a wellness plan and was never given the right diagnosis. Please do not take your pets With them! They left my dog blind advising and giving medication that never worked. She was left blind. They mentioned surgery but of course charging the overpriced services they always do! I took my pet to another vet and thankfully she's doing way better! Paying out of pocket is better than giving these people your money with their scam of wellness plans. I wish I had seen this before my poor dog was left blind, for their negligence!

I’m going to be very candid here…THIS SPECIFIC BANFIELD LOCATION IS HORRIBLE. I was “talked into” purchasing the Wellness Program for my dogs, and while I don’t mind the program that much, it’s the actual veterinarians there that are horrendous. One in particular, I won’t say any names, has an attitude that made me feel like I’m disrupting her day. She was not very helpful and gave me short one word answers when I asked questions. My dog is not scared of any human, except the vet at Banfield Lincoln Park. He came back from the observation room shaking. And now he has to be physically lifted to be taken to that location. What the hell did Banfield do to my dog????? And now when I want an appointment, they only do drop off? My pup is already terrified by your vets. I’m not going to leave him in a cold metal crate with your clearly incompetent staff. Avoid this place at all costs.

The doctor an staff here did not listen to any of my concerns. I dropped my dog off at 8AM, I called 3X. Each time I was told the doctor will call me, never happened. I had to call to DEMAND to speak with her, I told them he was sick an I wanted blood work done an I would pay for it an to start from there. I never received a phone call, but was told to pick up my dog at 4Pm. The doctor told me my dog was watched over an everything seemed fine. She tried to excuse herself by telling me she has seen 50 animals that day an she didn’t have the time an it I wanted blood work done I need to bring him back. I’ve had Banefield for 10 years an I finally canceled. Your dog is nothing more then a # to them, find another smaller vet an I promise you not only will your dog have better care, but you will also save money. I lost my dog due to there incompetence, an it’s a regret I will always have to live with. Banefield is nothing more then another corporate greedy money hungry business. 0 stars if I could give them.

Tried to setup an appointment for my pet to look at a health concern. The earliest visit for a sick pet was 4 weeks, scheduling a wellness plan comprehensive exam for this location was 6 weeks out. It also took calling 8 times to get someone to even answer the phone. I have been going here for 7 years and it wasn't always this way, seems closing a nearby Banfield location and not hiring enough staff to handle the transferred clients and you end up with terrible service.

I went to Banfield by North/Clybourn for years without any issues. I would meet with the vet in the small rooms and my appointments were mostlyon time and done in about 30 mins or less. When that location closed I tried Elston for the first time in 2022 and it is an absolute nightmare. I had an appointment scheduled months in advance for 9am. I dropped my dog off and thought it was odd that someone took him into a back room that was filled with dogs in cages all barking angrily. I was waiting in the lobby by the receptionist for 30 minutes thinking a few vaccines would be done in that time and maybe they aren’t meeting the vets in small rooms due to Covid? After sitting there for a half hour I asked if they knew how much longer it would take and they told me a few hours. No heads up in advance so I wasted time sitting around and then had to drive home and wait hours later to drive back to pick up. This location is horribly mismanaged and understaffed. This is not the fault of employees, as even the automated phone messages make claims of staffing and vet shortages. Yet this multi-billion dollar company clearly forces them to schedule more appointments than staffing can handle to maximize profits. You should consider the poor quality of care and time you will waste here due to this cost cutting. I believe the scary reviews here about misdiagnosis, an obvious effect of a company that schedules hundreds of appointments each day between a couple of vets and one receptionist. I set an appointment with a local vet and will never waste my time or risk my dog’s health by going to Banfield ever again.

Not recommended at all. Poor customer service and they don't truly care about the animals either. Just a job for these guys at best. If you care about your animal I would suggest you bring them somewhere else.

I called to make an appointment to get my dog vaccinated. The lady I talked to told me my appointment was set for September 9th. I took the day off just to make sure I wasn’t in a hurry. Come to find out they made my appointment for October 7 and won’t move it up even though it was their mistake and made me miss work because of them. Just because I didn’t want to make a scene, but if I would’ve been white they would’ve gone out of their way to help me.

I had an appointment at 7:30AM and waited for an hour. Nobody showed up. I have been going to Banfield for years but this was the final straw. I am switching vets. Overpriced plans, no appointment availabilities, etc. I highly recommend taking your pet somewhere else!

They never answer their phone, they have terrible customer service when they do and in person. Booking online used to be so helpful and no less they never have any online options. They blamed my 9week old puppy for eating their earrings… they were holding my puppy. Individual vet tech asked for my dogs Instagram. They’ve forgotten to send me home with the appropriate medications. They are terrible at following instructions. I’ve never had any issues with the actual vets but always with the reception and techs. I have changed locations.

I have been taking my dog here since he was a pup. A great staff and always answering my questions. My vet always seems to change depending on when I go in but I trust the vets here and never had a problem. My dog is very shy but even he seems to like going to the vet. It isn't open 24/7 but they did recommend a place when I asked. I have my pup on the dental cleaning plan that I have a payment plan for every month. It has worked out great for me and my pup goes in every six months.

Love them. We've taken all our animals here. Staff is friendly, understanding. Doctors don't push expensive tests or procedures.

This was my first time at this specific Banfield and I have nothing but good things to say. They were extremely kind and knowledgeable. Both the doctor and everyone I spoke with addressed my concerns and were very helpful.

They’re not the best. They offer a free first exam which is great (also available at every location) but they do bare minimum work/effort. I’d suggest going to the south loop location if you wanna try this vet out at all.

The vets and vet teachs are super helpful and kind. The only downside is having to pay the membership fee all over if you cancel your membership

The vet had me take my dog off her seizure medication because she wasn't showing symptoms. It seemed like an off the cuff decision with no thought process after a 20 second discussion, but i wanted to trust the expert. My dog had a seizure shortly after. The front office person and nurse seemed nice enough, but the vet clearly wasn't willing to spend more than 20 seconds to do their job properly. They should be ashamed.

Banfield’s service has gone down tremendously in the last 3 years. To make appointments has become a hassle. Customer service team lacks compassion and don’t care. I’m not going to renew my pet’s membership anymore.

You get what you pay for..this is by far the worst pet- care. I understand people coming to these places to save a dollar or because of the amount of advertisement this place gets, but beware this place focuses more on number of animal rather then actual care. I'd recomend looking elsewhere where theres people who actually care for your animals.

is this location closed or something? Can't reach anyone on the phone (tried different days, different times during the day) - no-one picks up. I've never had such issues with Banfield before. If you service level went downhill - you need to adjust my monthly payment accordingly.

This company as a whole does not deliver their promise which is quality medicine. Horrible experience with whoever answered the phone to get my dog seen as he was having diarrhea all morning. I am glad I never took my dog here or to any banfield.

I use to look at Banfield as a 5 star rating untill i had a follow up appointment for my dog and was canceled due to someone not coming to work. I rescheduled for a week later and again banfield called the day of and cancelled again. 2 weeks in a row!

I’ve taken my dog to various banfields in 3 states over the last 8+ years. The level of care, service, and convenience were so high that I thought I’d stick with them forever. But at this location it takes so long to get an appointment—6+ weeks at least—that it’s just not worth it. So I cancelled our optimum wellness plan and am looking for a new vet.

The quality of care, the quality of the facility and the overall experience we have here has plummeted into a complete garbage hole. We have been customers for almost 15 years! What once was affordable reliable care has become a filthy vet office that cannot be trusted. The wait times and communication are shameful. I absolutely never trust the vets opinion and always end up paying for a second opinion. If you find the optimal wellness plan is for you, I'd find another Banfield!!!

Don't do the wellness program. They don't pick up their phones and when they do can't get you in for weeks. Waste of money.

I would rate Banfield 0 stars if I could. Please, I cannot emphasis this enough, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR PET HERE. My 6 year old lab had been being seen by Banfield vets since we adopted him when he was just a year old. In those 5 years of him being a patient we honestly never felt supported by the medical staff anytime that we had to take him in. About a month or so ago we took our dog to be seen since he was acting very tired and we noticed he had a small lump. They let us know that it was a benign lump and nothing to be worried about so we carried on. This week my dog stopped eating, walking, and lost a significant amount of weight so we called Banfield and they told us to take him to the emergency vet, which we did. They ran just 1 single exam which showed that he not only had multiple cancerous tumors, but that he was also filled with fluids. We were told he would only have a couple of days left and to start saying our goodbyes. They also told us that this is not something that happens overnight which is why I find it so hard to believe that Banfield did not see any signs of anything. Im not sure if Banfield just didnt run tests, not check for more lumps or even check in the first place. I truly never thought I would have to write something like this but I just hope no one has to suffer the heartbreak of putting your pet down. Banfield not only failed my pet, but it failed my family.
