10/10 we had the most incredible dinner here last night. I’m pretty particular and I thoroughly enjoyed absolutely everything about this restaurant start to finish. The food….the ambiance…the DRINKS. My husband and I can not wait to come back. I ordered the seared scallops with spaghetti squash and a cucumber Gimlet ….no words. INCREDIBLE. The gimlet was the most delicious drink I’ve had in a very long time and the meal was superb. The portions were absolutely perfect and a “normal” amount, not too large and we left fully satisfied and full. New favorite Philly restaurant!!

Sure, it's a chain restaurant, but it's quality. Located just beside The Rittenhouse Hotel & Spa. The main dining room is at the 2nd floor. First off the service was fantastic and very attentive/engaging staff members. The opening bread was excellent. The braised octopus appetizer was tender. The grilled branzino had a good crispy skin and a flavorful tangy sauce. The tagliatelle bolognese was such a classic Italian comfort food, except they use a slightly different pasta (slightly firmer than the typical pasta but somehow I liked it). By the way, great view if you can sit by the window, directly overlooking the Rittenhouse Square. The only downside? Slightly pricy (but not excessive and completely understandable given the prime location)

The drinks here are insane. So far the best cocktails I've had in Philly.

This is a beautiful restaurant with nice ambiance. We came here to celebrate my birthday. However, one thing I would complain about is the portion size. This is our first time dining here so we didn’t know how small the portions were. We asked to share basil spaghetti among 4 people as an appetizer. Instead of suggesting that we order two servings to divide among 4 people, the chef just refused saying that the servings would be too small. Why not suggest that we order two servings? Perhaps the waiter could have explained things better but my husband was annoyed that the chef would not oblige our request. The manager came and offered an apology then portioned it out for us at the table which was nice but indeed it was too small. Basically it was one bite which meant it was $6 per bite. We ordered the chicken dish, a fish dish and the lobster black pasta dish. While everything tasted good, we left a bit hungry. My favorite dish was the basil spaghetti; it was simple and delicious with ridiculously small portions. Perhaps we will return and order more dishes. The food is amazing

Great service and a nice atmosphere. However the food was less than stellar, both from a flavor and portion perspective. The octopus was okay, the cavatelli woth clams was WAY over salted. Drinks are over priced. Having said that, the bar in the lobby had fantastic service and while was equally priced was super amenable to making the drink the way we wanted.

Dining at Scarpetta Italian Restaurant was a fantastic experience. The bread service was a delightful start, truly amazing. The food itself was excellent, and the mocktails were a pleasant surprise. What really stood out, though, was the top-notch service. Our waiter, despite not sharing our Astros fandom, provided excellent service throughout the meal, making our visit all the more enjoyable. Interesting fact: In slang, “scarpetta” refers to the act of using a piece of bread to mop up or soak up the remaining sauce or juices on a plate after finishing a meal, typically in a restaurant. It’s a casual and informal term used to describe this practice of savoring every last bit of flavor from a dish, often seen as a sign of really enjoying the food. So, when someone says they’re doing “scarpetta,” they mean they’re using bread to clean their plate of any remaining delicious sauce or juices.

I took my girlfriend here for her 36th birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was so rich and tasty, and the atmosphere was perfectly fitting. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and the drinks from the bar were top tier!

Absolutely fabulous food and service served by friendly staff in a classy, relaxed setting. The only reason I have not given five stars is the prices are rather high. That said, each dish we had was absolutely DIVINE. Even the bread basket served, which included some delicious ham and cheese swirls and three different spreads, was extraordinary and a true highlight of the email. While menu options are limited, it seems one cannot go wrong. I had the burrata and tagliatelle bolognese as my main and was in heaven with every bite. If money were no object, I would be a regular here.

Had to ask multiple times for a menu, drinks took a long time to arrive, and the food was alright. Pasta bolognese was tasty but needed more flavor to really pop. It was fresh, but underwhelming seasoned. The buratta came with olives which wasn't represented on the menu. Very disappointing

Our server Liz was so sweet. She was attentive and made me and my guests feel so welcome. The manager Vince was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to apologize for a very minor issue. We were blown away by his hospitality.

Used to be one of my favorite Italian places to eat But since the pandemic, it’s just not the same The bartender downstairs can’t make a drink at a soda shop, so how would they expect him to make a drink at the bar no less ? All an all I will still go back and give them another chance. Let you know how it worked out. Oh, but the valet is the best feel like he’s one of the few people who cares maybe because he works for the hotel.

Never had a meal; only been at the bar in the evenings. It’s a great atmosphere with killer drinks. It’s never crowded (especially compared to ‘Library Bar’ in the same hotel) which is even more of a reason to love it. Highly underrated spot to sit and lounge at

The service was fantastic from the moment we walked in and spoke to the hostess to our servers (I believe our server was Sal). Sal was kind, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was beyond amazing. The aged duck was so good, it could almost make you cry. The scallops were seared perfectly and sweet. The octopus was so buttery soft and flavorful that I wish I could have eaten ten more servings. Even the bread was superb and well paired with the three accoutrements. I will definitely return whenever I visit Philly again.

It was our first time at Scarpettta's and we had a wonderful Mother's Day celebration! The layout of the restaurant is perfect, with so many tables with window seating overlooking the park. Our waiter was attentive without rushing us and the food was unique and excellent. It is a hidden gem on Rittenhouse and we'll be back!

We had an odd situation where we had 2 large groups and were initially told we could not be seated close to each other. Luckily the manager allowed us. I should note that the other tables around us were not seated the entire time we dined so I'm not sure what the initial denial was about.

Managed to snag a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner at Scarpetta and had an outstanding time. We had previously visited Scarpetta for a pasta making class (which I highly recommend!) so we came in with elevated expectations. Service was fast and congenial, and the pre-fixe menu was varied enough for most people. Each dish we received was exceptional, with the turkey maybe being the best turkey I've tasted. Drinks were similarly strong and tasty. For Thanksgiving I'd definitely recommend a visit, and I plan to return for conventional dinner as well. The views of Rittenhouse park are awesome too - ask for a window seat!

I took my boyfriend to scarpetta for his birthday. We checked in with the hostess and got seated right away. Our table was by the window overlooking rittenhouse square park. We both ordered the lump crab gnocchi with lemon preserve. It was sooo good. The dessert was truly the best part! You simply cannot go wrong with a chocolate cake! They also acknowledged that I was celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday which was very appreciative. Shout out to our amazing server, Sal Dee!!! 11/10 service! He was so kind!!! All around amazing experience we will definitely be back!

Delicious! Our beautiful bartender, Alexia, was super informative, attentive, and friendly. I told her how much I loved the bread variety that I embarrassingly woofed down way too fast. Without asking, she grabbed more for us! I had the cucumber gimlet. SUPER REFRESHING! I found it odd that fresh grated black pepper was the garnished on top but it was surprisingly a pleasant touch that brought all the flavors together nicely! We picked the polenta as an appetizer, and red snapper (per alexia’s suggestion). PHENOMENAL! I could’ve eaten until my insides ruptured! Hats off to chef! I definitely will return in the very near future!!!

Where do I start!?!? This place was great! From the service, to the food, to the environment! Awesome! The manager, Jean-Paul was so down to earth and made sure me and my friends had everything we needed. Kayla and Ryan were so nice and super attentive. We stayed for drinks and enjoyed the vibes of the bar. Would give Scarpetta a 10 if I could. Me and my girls will definitely be back.

Best Italian in Philly - hands down. Yes, it’s pricy, but the quality of pasta you get here would rival most places in Rome.

Fantastic! Everything was delicious and the service was great! Tagliatelle Bolognese, roasted chicken, dolce cheesecake, chocolate cake, cappuccino. All was perfect. Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful location overlooking Rittenhouse Square.

I went to Scarpetta for restaurant week and I couldn't have made a better choice! The food was amazing. My favorite dish was the ravioli stuffed with braised short ribs and bone marrow. And for dessert the coconut panna cotta! Everything was delicious. The service was great and everyone seemed friendly. If you sit by the window you get a nice view of Rittenhouse Square. Definitely want to go back soon!

Haven't been to Scarpetta since the Thanksgiving dinner in 2017, and the food is still quite good, well most of it. The menu is very interesting with this touch of modern and inventive 'cucina Italiana', good ingredients and more than enough choices. The obviously overcooked pasta, very far from al-dente, and the equally overcooked seared scallops couldn't change the overall positive gastro experience. The ambiance is great with magnificent views to the Rittenhouse Square. Then was the service. A total and complete disaster. Very pushy gentleman who repeatedly tried to upsell everything, from wine to adding lobster/crabmeat to our fillet mignon. Then a big no-no for a fine dining establishment, trying to sell a bottle of Super Tuscan advertized as his personal favorite. The server wasn't Robert Parker neither James Suckling, his personal tastes in wines are of no authority neither interest for us. When we ordered an additional glass of Barbaresco it was poured in the same glass where our bottle of Nebbiolo was poured before! And finally a $104 bottle of Veneto, ordered originally and found to be unavailable, was included in our check atop of the Nebbiolo bottle served as a second choice. An honest mistake? This kind of mistake would have put $104 in the server's pockets, and not vice versa. Being very forgiving and very far from bloodthirsty diners, such uhm... servers shouldn't be allowed to work in Rittenhouse Square fine dining establishments.
