A really nice place in the city to have a good time. We ordered their Korean spiced Cauliflower (tasted good but could have been crispier), soy chorizo and potato pasteilillos (scrumptious filling in this one), street corn nachos (tasted great but we would have liked some more toppings on the chips at the bottom), salvadorean fish tacos (loved the crispy tofu and the tartar sauce combo in this one) and their icecream and ice cream float (can be skipped). Their game collection is expansive and some of them are fun, especially if you go with a large group. There is a $7 fee per person for 3 hours of access to their games section which I found reasonable. The best part of our experience, however, was the staff. They were all so nice and explained the rules to us quite patiently. Our server constantly kept checking on whether we were doing okay and her food recommendations were commendable. She also gave me an extra scoop of ice cream toward the end (thank you!). We will go back with more people the next time.

What a FUN idea! Loads of board games are located on shelves for you to choose from yourself or you can ask a Game Sommelier to pick some for you to choose from. I suggest that you have the Game Sommelier ask you questions regarding games you like and see what they bring to your table. You may find your new favorite game! Some cool Japanese style seating is available, along with a couple bar chairs and some regular tables. You pay $7/person to play the games. Food & drink just add to the experience. Street parking

This is definitely a place to visit. The vegan/vegetarian menu was incredible. It was hard to pick something to try with so many delicious sounding items. It was sad to hear the seitan wings were sold out but the Buffalo "chicken" sandwich was so good. Plus the French fries were some of the best I ate. You could stay here for hours, eating and playing all the games! Plus with the added bar menu, amazing! It's a great place for everyone! I'll be back!

This venue is a gem! As an out of state resident I was thrilled to see that a local business existed that let you play board games, enjoy great cocktails & have great food all under the same roof! All members of staff were extremely helpful if we ever needed them. We had a few minor issues with service, but we understand that for a Sunday there were more people than usual. They played the football games while we were there but the atmosphere of everyone in there was amazing. I’d be more than happy to visit this establishment over and over again. What a great crowd and business model!

Super fun! Instead of just sitting and drinking at a bar you can play some games while drinking. We play some pretty complicated games at home - so it was great to have a "game master" who knew the rules set up and help us start the game. They stopped by and checked on the games and were great! (Super shout to the employee who loves Atlantis rising and gave us a great tutorial!) Definitely worth the $7 fee to play!

This place has everything present to give you a wonderful time. A huge selection of board games to choose from and the staff are there to help or recommend games to play. I Enjoyed the vegetarian dishes on the menu. I ordered a Kimchi Burger and Butter Beer. The kimchi burger was mild spicy, juicy and full of flavor. The butter beer had an amazing combination of spices with a strong taste of apple juice. There is a $7 fee for access to games which I think is reasonable given the amazing amount of fun you can have playing them. In the end we had an insane amount of fun building a Jenga tower and bringing it down. The pieces fell everywhere but the staff was still polite and fine with a little chaos.

Incredible. The staff is so kind & knowledgeable about both the menu and the 1300+ games. My girlfriend and I love bringing friends to Queen & Rook because the drinks are creative & thoughtfully crafted, there’s always something going on, and they are so committed to giving back to the community. They have awesome N/A options as well as vegan milkshakes so if you are not a drinker, this place has plenty of fun options for you as well

Lots of fun playing games at Queen & Rook! The staff was super nice and informative about the games, and have usa good suggestion that our group had fun playing.

$7 for 3 hours with a massive (and properly organized) game library is a tremendous value. They have a large selection of games for quite literally all ages, from colorful children's games to horror-themed games for adults. Plus they serve alcohol — what more could you ask for? Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. I've taken a few groups here and everyone always has a great time. Probably would recommend trying to make a reservation if you're going on a Saturday night, however our group of 4 got a table after a 45 minute wait, which we spent around the corner at a bar.

My friend and I today happened to stumble across the game shop as we were exploring the area today and the worker there, Mikayla, was so kind, friendly, funny, and helpful. They seemed excited and energetic about working there and were answering all my questions and telling me about the connected cafe, so we hopped over there next to check it out. There are some really cool events and a 10% discount in the store if you eat at the cafe, and 3 hours of gameplay is just $7. I am vegan and was happy to find a broad selection of vegan options. Our waitress, Pratigya, was helpful and our game master, Josh, found and explained to us some fun and easy 2 player games that we had so much fun playing over a delicious lunch. I got lavendar lemonade, chorizo pastelillos, and korean cauliflower (all 3 vegan), and my friend got a cookies n creme milkshake and mozzarella sticks (vegetarian). It was lovely to find this great plant-based cafe, and not only that but a fun place to hang out and play games with friends. The staff is so friendly, the food is good, and the atmosphere is fun. I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

I LOVE Q&R! One of my favorite places in Philly and always the best time. The kindest staff, the yummiest food, fantastic drinks, and games to your heart’s content. Grateful to support such an incredible institution and so excited for the new location!

This place is fun. The food is very good, The servers are friendly and are really helpful with the games. And the amount of games they have to play is astonishing. It actually sometimes makes it difficult to pick what to play. Great spot for a date night or for a bunch of friends to catch up

I have wanted to come here for quite some time. I live in New Orleans but I was determined to get to this game shop during a visit up to Philly. Definitely not disappointed! The food is amazing...easily the best I've ever had at a game Cafe. Sunny was my server and they were just the best!! Super sweet, extremely attentive...(and it was packed that night!) Thanks Sunny!! Being able to reserve a table online was great. We had plenty of time to eat and enjoy Isle of Cats. Hope to make it back here every time I visit!

I love this place!!! The atmosphere was lively and very welcoming when I came. It’s a good spot to come with friends or even family/kids. Our gamekeeper Wes was so helpful in narrowing down game options for us and we ended up enjoying each game. The people and service is amazing :D I’ll be returning in the future

I had an absolutely amazing time at this place. The service takes it over the top, Everyone was so nice and helpful even with my slightly chaotic group on a very busy night. The people that work there seem genuinely as excited about board games/gaming in general as the patrons, and it makes the vibe top notch. The food was good, the drinks were good, and the selection of games is obviously great as well. I can't wait to go back!

AMAZING PLACE! $7 for unlimited game time. Or it could be 3 hours, I can't really remember. But there are hundreds of games to choose from. The tables are small though. Luckily, we were placed on another table about half through playing. The food is all vegetarian and vegan friendly so that's a major plus. Also, the drinks are super tasty as well. I got a few margaritas and they were all delish and strong! They could work on their service though. I would love to come back!

Queen & Rook is a wonderful place to spend time with friends. It’s a welcoming atmosphere with exceptionally friendly staff and a huge library of games. They have loads of events weekly and a great community to get in with. On weekends they even have game sommeliers to recommend a perfect game for your mood and teach you how to play. The bartender made me a drink that changed my perspective on rum cocktails (undead gentleman). And food wise, definitely recommend the fish tacos or the nachos. Everything is vegetarian or vegan so rest easy if you’ve got dietary restrictions. The place is awesome, so check it out. Best make a reservation though, it gets pretty busy these days!

I've been here a couple of times and I love it so much that I keep forgetting to leave my review. The atmosphere is wonderful. The idea of grabbing a bite and playing board games is perfect. I love to be outdoors and I think it's important to always stimulate/train our minds like we do for our muscles in the gym - with the amount of board games this cafe offers, you will certainly train your mind. It's great for a date night, friends, and family. Don't forget to reserve a table. You'll have a great time!

I visited for the first time today with a group of five people. I arrived first and was greeted immediately. An associate explained the options: $7 per person for three hours of game play, and he directed me to the barcode for the menu. Unfortunately, the chef called out so food would not be available until a replacement chef came. Due to the delay, we were told the game fees would be waived which I thought was a proactive and classy touch. Julian, our waiter provided phenomenal service. He was attentive, funny, knowledgeable, and accurate. I loved him! There were so many games to choose from but we settled on Taboo and Scattergories to get our feet wet. Honestly, the library is VAST. I saw Mall Madness from my childhood, TV Show games like Law & Order and The Sopranos, and games that you may have never heard of like Battles of Westeros (check it out if you think I'm exaggerating). There was also a cart to place games on when you're finished so they can be sanitized. The menu offers many vegetarian and vegan options and I must say the Seitan Chicken wasn't bad. The desserts were delicious according to my friends. I was too full from my massive plate of shareable nachos. They offer a full bar although we didn't partake. This was a perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday and I'm honestly recommending this for friends, families, dates, or anywhere in between. Each of us said we're definitely coming back. Thank you for an excellent experience, Queen & Rook, we had a wonderful time!

Love the idea and theme of this restaurant! went with some friends to celebrate a couple birthdays. I'm not a vegan/vegetarian and usually like to choose places with a variety, but everything was amazing. The impossible Burger was one of the best I've tried, we wanted to order another but the kitchen was closing. Great choices in games by the game master, hoping to go back for trivia next time I'm in town.

Nice place for hangout with your friends. Eat and play. The food was okay, and absolutely a large selection of board games is a plus. They can help you if you need help to find fun games for your party. Unique concept and $7 per person for unlimited games is worth trying. Definitely will be back.

The atmosphere was good and we really enjoyed there. It's just, I disliked being there for two points. 1. They have a policy that you cannot bring your own game and play. Which I think is not mentioned anywhere in any part of the restaurant. Though the attendant was polite and courteous to tell us about that and we have to pay $7 per 2hr each even though we didn't use any of their games initially. We played an hour extra after we realised we had to pay, and they did not charge us the extra hour we were there. They were generous too! 2. The tip was flat 20%. I didn't have a problem signing my bill but felt a bit rude from the restaurant side. Apart from these, I BET YOU WILL ENJOY BEING THERE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

I had a great date night with my partner at Queen and Rook Cafe. They take reservations for indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for a table outside and it was big enough for us to eat and play games. The game selection is impressive. Neither of us are that into board games, but we kept ourselves entertained with the options for over two hours. The staff was also really helpful in making suggestions. Although I love that the menu is Veg/Vegan, the only downside of the night was the food. The temperature it was served at made us think that it had sat for a few minutes before making it to our table. The flavor was also somewhere between good and okay. The menu has a variety of options and we hope that maybe we just caught the kitchen on an off night. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back in the future.

Fun place with great customer service! I love the vast game selection and the affordability of this place. It’s around $7 per person for about 3 hours. The lavender lemonade was pretty tart yet still tastes good. It would be best to set up a reservation here, if you go here. Luckily my wait wasn’t that long but it was definitely getting busy when I had gone

There is nothing not to like about this place. Your gaming experience is personalized. Each table is assigned a game sommelier, if they choose to have one. The sommelier comes and asks your group a few questions and suggests games based on your preferences. There is an overwhelming selection of games to choose from. It was awesome to see everything from childhood favorites to adult card games, puzzles, and everything in between. We liked all of the games suggested to us, some more than others. The environment is inclusive and inviting. They have a great drink selection and a good amount of vegan and allergen friendly foods. We spent hours here, much longer than intended, but had no regrets. It was awesome.

Love the new keep! Also whoever runs the insta was really responsive when I asked about a game they had on their page. Overall have always had good experiences with them!

Amazing venue for food and games. (although I don't remember seeing anything about it being a completely vegetarian menu... the food was better than I expected)! Very courteous staff and board game gurus, with a gaming store next door giving 10% discount for Queen&Rook customers.

This is the only board game cafe I've seen that has a wait staff and a full kitchen! The food was amazing, and everyone was so kind. I was also really impressed by the wide variety of food available, including lots of vegan options. I had the brussel sprouts and pretzels, which both came with a vegan cheese. They were delicious! I didn't have a drink because I had to drive, but the drinks from the people around me looked and smelled fantastic. The decor was beautiful and functional. I really wish I had gotten the chance to hang out in (or at least get a picture of) the really cool booths set up. Bathrooms were all gender neutral! I came for an event after PAX Unplugged, and I was really impressed by how many specials and events were happening during the weekend for the convention goers. I am definitely going to come back here when I'm in the area again!

Amazing boardgame Cafe. Cuisine was vegetarian/vegan and the vibe was extremely cool and welcoming. They have a ton of board games to try for all levels of experience with a board game master to help get you started and to offer suggestions. Food was delicious and service was 10/10. They also have a good selection of board games to try, 10% off with any food/beverage purchase. If you're looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon or to test drive some board games you've been eyeing, then I highly recommend!

The food is really good. The person who welcomes people had a real attitude. Apparently they want people to wear masks as you walk to the table or walk around. Which I'm iffy, because I already had the shots. Anyway, I did not have one. They offered masks (which was nice) but they were kids sizes per the welcome person. I said ok do you want me to hold the mask to my face thinking it was too small for my big head. And he said in a snarky way "No, I want you to wear it". The attitude was a put down and probably not coming back. Since his skull was probably not as big as mine, he probably has not had 10's of those small masks break as I put them on my head, which is frustrating. Again the food is good, but maybe not so much for picky kids eaters. Too bad about the attitude, but they probably get mask issues all the time.

Had a nice outdoor seating area, but once or twice I think we were forgotten about outside. When we were seated the staff member let us know that they were short staffed, so they asked for our patience. I am glad they warned us, but it did take about 30 minutes from when our last dishes were cleared until we received the check. (we were not playing any games, but just waiting). I was pleased with the vegan menu and hopefully we will be back again sometime and get to play some games. (also did not realize before going that there is an additional $7 fee to play games)

such a fun place! The drinks are good and have such fun fandom themed names. They have TONS of games and "game masters" to help teach you the game or to help figure out the game with you. We played Ticket to Ride which is a gamr I've owned forever but never had a chance to learn on my own time. I recommend this place for anyone who loves board games!

My wife and I had not yet played our daily game of chess when we came across this bar and had to stop. The outdoor patio area is spacious and a large area is also covered. Inside they have some really great dining spaces to spend time with friends. It does cost $7/person to have access to the game library.
