You get a queue number to take photos. But well, need to wait around 1 hour 😂 If you come here to feel serene, forget it. If you come here for Instagram photos, you are on the right place. Yah, maybe this place is not for me.. Anyway, the temple itself so magnificent, with mighty lions statue.

Here maximum profit is made from the tourists - of which I am one. You have to take a shuttle up the incredibly steep road. Then you are unloaded and given a sarong to wear. Then you can walk about 500 meters really steeply up the hill or have it transported by bike (for a fee). At the top there is a main area with the large white dragon staircase and the Gate to Heaven. Below this there is another area where you can also take photos. At the shuttle below you will already get his number for the photos above. So people wait in front of the Gate to Heaven until their number is called. Then it happens quickly: give the photographer your cell phone, he holds the mirror underneath for the effect, you stand between the gates of heaven and the photographer shouts at you when you want to change your pose. After 3 minutes you're done. The waiting time depends on the day. For the sake of the pictures I would prefer the afternoon because there is often fog in the morning. But of course that depends. We just took the photos below (using the same stitch). If you want, you can take a look at this temple. It's nice, but you definitely have to wait 2-3 hours.

Parking lot at the bottom, take a 10 minute shuttle to the temple entrance where you can rent a sarong (that comes with the entrance ticket). Then at the temple, you can go up the left or right side, but the iconic Instagram photo spot is a queue based on your ticket number. At noon, you can potentially wait up to 2 hours to take a photo. Very touristy and not educational at all.

Super beautiful temple in Bali. But honestly, it is too touristic. Long queue to take a picture that you have to pay. Entrance ticket is 55k and then you also have too take a shuttle bus which costs about 40k. It is a pity that this place is just made for tourists.

We arrived very early at 6.30am after leaving Ubud at 4.30am. By arriving early we hardly queued to have our photos taken. We were lucky to have amazing weather. The views were incredible from the top which adds to the time here. The temple was smaller than I had imagined but still the view makes it worth it. Yes it was touristy but isn’t most places everyone visits in Bali? If you go there wanting to see the amazing view and to see a temple so high up, then defo worth it. It was very well organised, the shuttle bus left promptly to take us to the top. We paid for the ticket and was given a sarong to wear. Had to walk up the steep road to the temple. Everyone was so friendly. The photographers take your phone in the temple to take the your photos at the gate when your number is called (number given on the ticket). Our photos were incredible. I would recommend visiting here….if you don’t like queuing go early as we did.

A very beautiful temple, unfortunately overcrowded and you should be prepared for a waiting time of 5 hours (even though we were there around 8 a.m.)

MANY GO HERE FOR INSTAGRAM PHOTOS, but I want to warn you) THERE IS NO POOL from which you are reflected, such photos are taken using a mirror.🪞 Of course, a little history: language LOOK edit Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a Balinese Hindu temple, or pura, located on the slope of Mount Lempuyang in Karangasem, Bali. Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is considered part of the pura complex surrounding Mount Lempuyang, one of Bali's highly regarded temples. The Temples of Mount Lempuyang, represented by the tallest pura at the top of Mount Lempuyang, Pura Lempuyang Luhur, is one of the Sad Kahyang Jagad, or "six shrines of the world", the six holiest places of departure in Bali. The establishment of places of worship around Mount Lempuyang is believed to predate most of the Hindu temples on the island of Bali.[1]The pura of Mount Lempuyang, represented by Pura Lempuyang Luhur, the tallest temple in the area, is grouped into one pura complex, which is the Pura Garden Kahyangan Luhur Lempuyang. The temple groups are considered part of the Sad-Kahyangan Jagad, or "six shrines of peace", the six holiest places of worship in Bali. According to Balinese beliefs, they are the key points of the island and are meant to bring spiritual balance to Bali.[2]The temple groups of Mount Lempuyang are also one of the groups of temples in Bali known as Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuwana. Each of the temples at Pura Kahyangan Padma Bhuvana marked each of the eight cardinal directions. Pura Lempuyang Luhur represents the direction of the east (purwa) and the color white. This direction is associated with the domain of the Balinese god Isvara.[3] Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang was restored in 2001.

This is hyper over hyped place. People used to wait here for hours for a picture for perfect instagram post which is far away from reality. Save your energy and oxygen, there are plenty of other places to pamper yourself.

Great temple of Hindu with background of Agung Mountain , is best to come I. The morning or catch sunset panoramic background , we park our car in the big parking area and use their shuttle bus to go to the temple located on the top / hill , nice scenery surrounded , long queue to take picture at gate of heaven. Entry ticket 30K / person , be patient to take a picture in the gate of heaven

For those who visit Bali for two weeks max. For instagram. 50k entrance, for taking photos with dark mirror (making pictures look beautiful) you should leave a tip. Dont wear a trousers because even you are fully dressed you must wear special dress given at the entrance. Visit place at the mornings because of the clouds.

Pura Lempuyang Luhur, Bali's "Gateway to Heaven," is a mesmerizing spiritual ascent. The iconic temple, perched on Mount Lempuyang, commands reverence with its grandeur and symbolic significance. The journey, comprising steep steps and lush landscapes, heightens the pilgrimage. The famed Gates of Heaven frame awe-inspiring views, creating a visual spectacle that transcends earthly bounds. Though the ascent may challenge, the spiritual ambiance and breathtaking vistas make it a pilgrimage of profound beauty. Pura Lempuyang Luhur stands as a testament to Bali's rich cultural heritage, offering seekers both a physical and spiritual journey towards enlightenment and panoramic serenity.

Amazing place! The only downside is that you have to wait for a few pictures for like 2 hours! Other then this the place is just amazing and your pictures will be perfect!

If you are a WOMAN be aware that you cannot go inside if you have your period, which for me was really disappointing since no one told me about it, and I didn’t see this in any of the sites I read or even here in the reviews. Of course you can lie and go, but I don’t lie and for that I couldn’t go. A bit ridiculous on my point of view, since a lot of people probably lie about it. Took 2 hours to get to this place and couldn’t go up….

The complex is very beautiful, but this temple is overrun with influencer/Instagram girls who come just for a picture at the gate of heaven and like to queue for 3-4 hours.
