Incredible. I’ve had the luxury or trying octopus in many different ways in many different countries but the grilled octopus here was the most tender and delicious of all. As I’m writing this review I can taste the memory… We also enjoyed the shrimp and mussel risotto and the mixed green salad. Topped it off with the chocolate mousse and we were smitten. The service was amazing and very helpful. Would highly recommend.

The food was delicious. We had the codfish, risotto, steak, and a chicken dish. Everyone was happy and left with full stomachs! We also had a glass of the house red and green wine, and finished with some port.

Our second time back and it is just as good as we remember. The Algarve fish stew, served in a copper pot, is not to be missed.

We both had risotto (the shrimp one and the mushroom one) and they were both really good. They were out of multiple menu items when we went which isn't a big deal but it's why we only tried the risottos. Farol de Santa Luzia is a short walk from multiple miradouros which was great if you have to wait. You can make a reservation (we did a few weeks beforehand) but I don't think it's required. The interior walls were covered in tile and were beautiful. The food and vibes were great

If you are staying in the Alfama area, then you should consider dining in at this authentic Portuguese restaurant. My air b&b host recommended me this restaurant and I am very grateful to him. The servers spoke adequate English so that I did not have to try out my poor Portuguese speaking drills. I am not 100% sure, but I think the menu was also available in English. What are they good at? Seafood and anything that's seafood. Bacalo, camaron and pulvo were all excellent. You can try their risotto and charcuterie meats if you are not a big seafood fan. The seafood stew was memorable. It was during mid-Feb and it was quite cold (not freezing due to plenty of sun). And consuming that seafood stew was heavenly under that circumstance. I ended up dining in at this restaurant twice during my 6 days stay in the Alfama. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine in at this place (then it would fit the criteria of Michelin 1 star), but I will definitely revisit if I am in the Alfama area.

Excellent and authentic Portuguese food in a relaxed setting. This restaurant came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Good food and wine at a reasonable price. We chose the octopus salad, croquettes and prawns to start accompanied with some bread. The quality of the ingredients and dedication to presentation was apparent from the outset, this was continued in the excellent octopus main course and Bitoque, all washed down with a very good Vinho Verde. We couldn’t resist a dessert and coffee to finish, and chose from the many sweet treats available from the counter. Looking forward to coming again!

The best place we ate while in Portugal. The flavors were so fresh and delicious. It was an eating experience I had dreamed about lol. Adorable little place that thankfully took us even without reservations. They did fill up quickly so I would advise calling for a table. So very good with excellent service as well. Hopefully we will be back to experience Portugal and Farol de Santa Luzia again sometime.

We've randomly found ourselves at this restaurant after our visit at miraduro di Santa Luzia. The experience was unique, the food excellent and the atmosphere had a traditional touch. We've ordered the codfish and the shrims' risotto. Both of them were really tasty. Last but not least, the prices were reasonable in relation to the quality! The staff was really friendly which made our dinner even better!

This is a must try place in Lisbon!! We went here for out first proper Portuguese restaurant and it did not disappoint! my partner had the octopus and it was so tender and flavoursome. And my steak, wow! cooked to perfection (in my opinion which is rare) and the Worcestershire cream sauce was to die for! Please try!!

Good place to stop for dinner. You should know that the bread in the begging is not complementary ;) the salad was tasty, wine was great. The service was fast and the staff is friendly. If you already got hungry on the beautiful miradouros nearby, this is your go-to place. One other watch out, the tram 28 going by is blocking all the light every few minutes, that can be districting for some :)

Food and atmosphere here are wonderful. We had an early dinner with our 9.5 month old - there was a high chair available. Definitely try the Bacalhau dish, that was the highlight for us. You can't miss with the desserts either!

the cataplana for 2 people $39.95 is great- taste fresh and have a variety of seafood. Yet for the price I would expect more, since there is plenty other restaurants offer same dish for less than $20.

Amazing seafood. The clams especially - we were soaking up all the leftover sauce with our bread. We forgot to ask our server’s name but he was HUSTLING. He did an amazing job taking care of us and the other guests.

My girlfriend and I went here last night and were disappointed. I ordered the grilled cod, but it was dry and way overdone. The whole dish was swimming in a pool of olive oil. My girlfriend ordered the steak which was less than an inch thick and also way over cooked. To top the evening off, the bread they bring to the table at the beginning of the meal was not complementary, which we were not aware of until the check arrived.

Spent a month in Lisbon 8 years ago. I ate here every night after the first time I tried this place. It was that good. I just came back…it’s still amazing. The povo “octopus” cuts thru like butter. You will never find it better done than here. This place will ruin octopus for you because you will never get it better again.

We tried our first cataplana do peixe here. I had been looking forward to it and I wasn’t disappointed! It was so tasty - I was slurping up the remainder of the broth with a spoon. Note that the cataplana also comes with a side of rice and fried potatoes, so you don’t have to order those separately. Pleasant wait staff and a calm, relaxing place to wind down after a day of sightseeing. I would suggest to book a table ahead of time.

Excellent seafood-oriented restaurant with traditional dishes like fish stew prepared in a cataplana pan, grilled octopus and salted cod. The menu has English translations. The service is mainly in Portuguese but with good understanding of English - so this palace is tourist-friendly, but its is not “touristy”, but rather has a local feel. It’s no-frills, good good. This is a family business owned by the same family for over 30years. People working there are very nice. Opens at 7pm for dinner and fills up quickly every day, so you might be better off making a reservation.

The octopus salad is excellent like everything else for that matter. It is a very good address in Lisbon and it is well worth the detour. Nice calm restaurant with charming ambience. Food was good but probably not worth the higher prices when compared to other restaurants of the same category. The service was kind and fast, though I couldn't help but noticing a sexist comment from one male waiter to her colleague in front of clients when she was struggling with opening the cataplana pan ("a man is a man").

This has to be one of Lisbon’s top restaurant. The ambiance was suitable for a romantic date. The food was simply amazing. We ordered Polvo Assado and it was fresh and very very tender. It was placed over some delicious bake potatoes. My spouse had the chicken breast and we can assert that they were the most delicious chicken we ever had. I just cannot explained in simple words how they prepared it but our taste buds were jubilant. The servers were extremely attentive and courteous. It is very important that you call and reserve a table or you will not have a chance to experience heaven on Earth. Sadly, we had dinner on Sunday night and on Monday they were closed.

Best meal I have had in Lisbon, also some of the best seafood I have ever had. If you are looking for a spot with great service, amazing food, great wine and a place where there the people have passion and love for what they do, this is the place in Lisbon. Standouts: the Prawn rice dish and the grilled octopus, cannot recommend enough, and if you are looking for a nice wine, look no further than the 2016 Quinta da Pedra Alvarinho, outstanding wine!!!

Very nice food, terrific service. The waiter was superb, and the food was delicious. We had the bread/olive oil/olives to share, then two of the salt cod's, 1 top steak, two desserts, 2 espressos, 1 bottle of wine, a litre of sparkling water and 2 Pepsi's. The bill came to 101 euros for three. Our cod on sweet potatoes was delicious. The crumb was crispy, the potato and spinach sweet and balanced the cod really well. Wine was good (white Dao), desserts very good. Even though it is in a popular part of Lisbon this didn't feel like a tourist trap restaurant. Good quality food, reasonably priced, great service. Very happy with everything.

Great family restaurant. Everything was tasty, from the shrimp, to the mussels, pork, and potatoes. Excellent Portuguese menu, we had fish chowder followed shrimp risotto, shrimp starter followed by grouper. Each was perfect of its type. Wine and water all good. Be aware that wine is only by the half or full bottle, not by the glass. Service was excellent and quick even though the restaurant was totally full.

We had dinner on valentine’s day, there were only 2 staffs to do serving and 1 at the bar. The 2 staffs were busy, so I wouldn’t say the service was great, but it’s Ok. We had clams for starter, no surprise in a good way which has good flavour of garlic butter with light lemon. Then we had fish chowder, this was surprisingly good - you won’t see the actual fish in the soup, they had blend all ingredient which you can tasted the freshness of fish in every dip. For the main, the octopus is definitely the star dish! It cooked perfectly!! And we had another main was pork clams with potato, that’s our least favourite of the night, the pork was chewy and dry, and the sauce tasted a bit too salty for me. But in general the night was good!
