Amazing food and service. Although there were many empty tables inside, I was told they were all reserved so I just sat outside. The waiter came back shortly after and let me know there was a table available and I could sit inside. They only had the menu written in Portuguese so the waiter brought it with him and patiently explained every dish on it in English! I ordered some fried beans, clams, cod? fish and fries. The beans were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The clams were fresh and perfectly balanced and had a freshness coming from herbs and lime. Oh but the fish, the main course!! Cooked to perfection, the flesh was so tender and flaky, with the skin nicely torched and crispy. The fries were also very crispy on the outside but tender inside with good seasoning. The food was perfect and I highly recommend anyone to visit here! Thank you!!

Mae Restaurante is a laid-back restaurant in Lisbon that serves up great Portuguese food in the city. The menu is well-curated, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and traditional Portuguese dishes. The pork neck cooked for 48 hours is a must-try, and the cucumber sour is a refreshing and delicious accompaniment. The service at Mae Restaurante is excellent. I found the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere at the restaurant is warm and inviting, and it's the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. The restaurant has a small outdoor terrace, which is a great option for dining al fresco. Definitely recommended and definitely would go again

“Outstanding local cuisine” Fresh dishes with constantly updating menu and wide selection of wine. The service guys are very helpful and open-minded. The only thing - reserve a table in advance if you want be seated immediately, otherwise you’ll be waiting loooooong.

Amazing food, I wish it existed 10 years ago, when I worked nearby... The food is simply amazing. Not "to the letter" traditional dishes, but traditional high quality ingredients with a modern twist. We booked and arrived early for lunch, but it was full when we left, so probably a good idea to book a table. The "bacalhau à bras" had high quality fish on top (not common) and a kind of ham made with veal and was super tasty. The "queijinho do ceu" was super sweet and tasty, and we could tell super fresh. Service was super nice too. I went back recently, tried the octopus and the chocolate mousse and they were great too. Also found out how they get all the photos on the wall (ask them about it).

Excellent food and service. We took starters to share - all from the menu, all did not disappoint. I also had octopus for the main course - fantastic. Real food, tasty and prepared with care. Will come back for sure.

Best lunch I had during my time in Lisbon. Food was amazing and staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and tentative. I wouldn’t miss it if I’m nearby

We found this little gem and liked it so much we came twice! The food and wine is excellent - fresh seafood, a tender octopus, a Portugeuse-style creme brûlée, and we especially loved the tempura green beans... - but the service is what makes this place exceptional. The staff is absolutely lovely. They’re usually busy and yet they remembered us *and* everything we had ordered from the first time... As another reviewer noted, the menu is entirely in Portuguese... but the staff will carefully explain every single dish to you.

I didn't expect to be everything great. The food was great, delicious, we even order more of what we didn't intend. The wine choice was great and the service was welcoming. My favorite dish 'duck drumstick'. You won't regret it 🙂 'Mae' means 'mum' , so you will see photos of random mothers on the wall😊 that gives warm touch and welcoming atmosphere

How to describe this experience...we went there twice! The best quality price ratio we found after 2 weeks in Lisboa! The food is delicate with interesting classics revisited, a wine selection pairing and of high quality, fresh products and desert homemade, the staff is absolutely spot on, attentive and happy to describe everything for you. An address to keep and in our classic list for when we will come back!

Presentation, fantastic, and staff is extremely welcoming. The octopus, croquettes, bacalhau a bras and the garlic prawns were absolutely impeccable!!! 👌 The meat dishes however fell short as they were swimming in overwhelmingly sweet sauces which made it quite hard to finish despite the meat themselves being very tender - I believe that with a little alteration these could also be impeccable! 😊 Space is quite nice and well lit, and seems to be really great for groups! It could otherwise benefit from a little more cozyness to feel more personal. Overall, I would recommend trying this place.

Fantastic meal- we wanted a place near our hotel. We arrived a little after they opened. Service was great; attentive. Food was delicious and so was the wine. I’d def go back. The tuna tacos are next level. Glad we found this place -

The name says it: cooking with love! And you can feel the love in the cooking. It is by far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Taste : 100%. Service 100%. Ambiance 100%. The food was so incredibly flavourful. We had the croaker and shrimp, and the octopus; everything was so fresh; so delicious! Even the desert didnt disappoint! Thank you for having us

Nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere The service is excellent very attentive staff. The food was very good, especially the squid dishes are highly recommended Wines are recommended by the friendly staff. We had a good white wine that went perfectly with the food Be sure to reserve!! We were lucky - without a reservation - and got a small table and overall a very good price-performance ratio

The best food experience I had in Lisbon. I had grilled fish with vegetables and finally got not boiled vegetables like in a lot of Portuguese restaurants, but nicely cooked ones. Service is amazing, waiters are very friendly and smiling. Place is 10 out of 10!♥️

All the food, service and ambience was great! Small but great and diverse menu. I had the salmorejo (starter) that was very good but personally I found it quite strong flavour and slightly salty. As a main I had bacalhau à Brás, that was great! The arroz de corvina was very good too, flavours were well balanced. As dessert I had the chocolate mousse and it was so tasty, would maybe share and it’s a very good portion. I found the prices slightly high however, considering all the service and quality of the food/drinks it’s more than worth it! I’ll definitely come back! Highly recommend to book a table in advance!

Very friendly place, with Portuguese typical food with some "modern touches". The wall is full of mothers frames, which makes it very original and cozy.

This is an absolute hidden gem! We didn’t have a reservation but the accommodating manager gave us the opportunity to sit outside - which was just as pleasant! We got to know about the concept (food cooked with love, just like a mother does) and the changing menu. We picked the tuna tacos and the pani puri for starters, as well as the prawn rice with fish on top for mains. For drinks we picked the sangria and the cucumber sour. This was undoubtedly one of the best meals we have had while visiting Lisbon. The fish was always perfectly cooked, soft and served in an inviting and innovative way. The main course was especially comforting with a twist of sophistication. The drinks had a smooth mouthfeel with undertones of flavor - especially the sangria with undertones of grapefruit, cinnamon and mint. To top it all, the service was absolutely on point. Despite sitting outside, we were not forgotten at all and felt very well taken care of. I look forward to visiting again!

Best meal of the week. Advise booking, full the first night we went. Staff are all brilliant, food so well cooked. Menus explained, wine recommended, these guys know their stuff. Bread and olives brought over were welcome but are added to bill. Incredible value for money. Food of this quality for this price is unheard of at home for us.

Great place to have local food. It is a bit out of the touristic places but is really worth the detour.

Amazing food, amazing staff. A bit too expensive for the quantity of food served, well I get that it's in the middle of Lisbon, so that's usual, still I found it too much gourmet, the plates could be better served. The room's decoration is very pleasing, dedicated to mom's. Desserts are very good too.

We found this gem on our last day in Lisbon and we wish we found it earlier. We LOVED this place. If you are a foodie than this is a must try place. We went to restaurants 3 times the price of this place and they weren’t as good. I highly recommend going to this place and the staff were amazing. Next time I’m in Lisbon, I’m 100% coming back.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Lisbon. Everything from bread & butter through lovely scallops to fall-apart pork neck… And it’s also a beautiful spot!

Overall it is a fine place. A good starter was served; the beef was accompanied by apple puree; and the seafood rice was tasty, but the strong taste of the peppers overshadowed the taste of the fish. A lack of detail in the service.

Really nice place. I loved the bras bacalhau. The guy that served us was really nice and suggested all the most typical dishes. They payed great attention to my wife as she’s gluten allergic and made double check on every choice we made to be sure they were gluten free. Amazing quality for a good price.
