Very tasty and authentic chinese flavours (with milder spiciness and optional non spicy), with delicate presentation, in an elegant restaurant and friendly service, by the riverfront. The menu in mainly Sichuan (some dishes need to be ordered beforehand due to preparation time) but there are also a few famous dishes from elsewhere in China. The prices are also higher than the average chinese restaurant. It has outdoor sitting and is accessible.

No doubt, a reference when you are talking about Chinese gastronomy in Lisbon. An overwhelmingly rich menu with more than you could imagine. The food is absolutely incredible, never had anything less than awesome here. The Chinese culture is deeply rooted in the decoration and ambiance. The staff was very nice with nothing to remark otherwise. During the hot days, the outside seating is very pleasant! I truly recommend this, not only by personal experience but also by the feedback provided by other people close to me who were completely astounded.

I had lunch in The Old House with some friends and we had a very good experience. The space is pleasant (we sat outdoors) and the staff is ok. The menu is very rich (almost overwhelming) in options. We ordered shrimp dumplings, the old house rolls, roasted black pork, spicy noodles, Beijing roast duck and shredded pork and we ended up very satisfied. The Beijing roast duck and the shredded pork deserve a special recognition and they are a must try. For the dessert we ordered the honey sweets, which were ok but not incredible. The price is fair to the quality presented. In sum, it is a great option if you want to try an authentic Chinese gastronomic experience, as it stands out comparing to the traditional Chinese restaurants that can be found in Portugal.

Wait staff was slow to acknowledge us after we were seated. After we asked for service (which is why we rated 4 instead of 5) service was a bit better. Enormous menu. Went with shrimp dumplings (well prepared, just okay - use the soysauce for some flovor), spicy pork dumplings (hot and delicious) and shrimp ball (shrimp with glass/clear noodles) for two. The shrimp ball dish was amazing. Light buttery olive oil & garlic sauce. Definitely big enough to share. Nice relaxing atmosphere sitting outside for people watching and river view.

The best Chinese I've tried in Europe. Authentic flavor. I lived in China for 3 years and this restaurant brought back good memories. The wontons are a must have, definitely my favorite dish. The Beijing duck is the best one I tried in Europe but cannot compare with the ones I tried in China, anyways its delicious. Definitely going back soon to try more dishes. We ate inside, the decoration is beautiful. The only real Chinese restaurant, honesty

Would’ve given it a 5 star rating, but - 1 due to the spice level We picked “spice level 1 out of 4” for one of the chicken mains we ordered. There were a thousand chillies in there - not something you’d expect with a spice level of 1. A warning may have been nice as not everyone can hack that kind of spice. Other than that the food was great. We booked one of the rooms upstairs so could enjoy a private dining experience. The swan shaped desserts look incredible and are served in a bird cage with smoke - 10/10 aesthetics. However, I don’t enjoy dates with chocolate so was a no for me.

This was our first trip to Lisbon and we stopped by The Old House after a visit to the aquarium. The menu was substantial. We wanted to try everything! The few things we ordered were authentic and delicious. The spicy beef noodle soup was hearty and perfectly spiced. My favorite dish was the shrimp dumplings with caviar. We’ll definitely return the next time we travel to Lisbon.

One of the most expensive Chinese meals I have ever had in Europe. My Asian stomach was craving for steamed white rice, so forget about the price. Fortunately the food was legit Chinese cooking and not the Chop Suey nonsense from across the Atlantic. And how good were they? The fried cabbage actually got some wok heat in it! The twin cooked pork (literal translation of a famous Sichuan dish) should have been fried longer to remove more grease from the belly meat but still they got the basics correct by adding leeks, preserved black beans and sliced green peppers. Portion was big but I must have finished 70% of each dish. Plus the rice. Ambience and service was very good.

Nice Chinese on the expensive side but the servings are large. Service was ok but the use of the back door to come in and out with dirty dishes is not a good atmosphere. Updated October 2023 Visited again expecting a good meal. Sadly the meal was very mediocre, most plates were off and we returned the tofu simply not eatable for us. Sadly will not be back

This was the best Chinese food we've had in Portugal. We sat at a round table with nine people. It is served traditionally, the dishes are served family style and for the table. We began with dim sum, very good except for the xao long boa, a clueless attempt. We had steamed sea bass (robalo) which was absolutely outstanding. We also loved the Peking Duck with the wrappers. The eggplant was also excellent. We also had a nice fruity white wine which paired nicely and reasonably priced. The also have a great chilli oil if you like it spicy. The service was a bit slow at the beginning and at the end but it was manageable.

Requested a nice table for a special occasion and got seated basically in the bathroom. They actually realized that something was wrong when we asked for a bill after 5 minutes so an extra star for at least asking if something was wrong. I understand how busy it can get but when you see more free tables than you can count it's a bit weird.

Ambience, location and staff were wonderful. The food left alot to be desired and frankily we was very disappointed by the taste and quality of the food we ordered. We love chinese food and ordered what we consider our fav dishes. The sweet and sour soup was extremely vinegar based. The rice balls were not great and lacked salt. For our main course the peanut chicken was too salty and the soy rice was borderline bland and no salt again. Note we waited 10mins for the soy rice to arrive after flagging down a waiter to ask why it had not arrived... We were so disappointed we left ended up grabbing a takeaway on the way back!

This restaurant was unique in Portugal before covid. I use to go there since the inauguration of the restaurant. Staff very clean and professional. Food that you could not find on any other Chinese restaurant. Amazing quality and taste. Original food. After a long time without going there. I found the staff very poorly prepared. Clothes of all staff ridiculously dirty like months without cleaning and no ironing at all. The food was not as good as before not even close but the posted photos look nice. This restaurant use to be full of Chinese people that really know what to eat. Today I didn’t find even one Chinese eating there. What a mess. It is a pearl that was transformed in cheap plastic. I hope that they can revert the process and return to the time of inauguration. Wish you luck guys

A wonderful experience with lots of different meals, the waitress was really helpful with the choices offered and the suggestions. The ambience is amazing, I loved the red lamps and the porcelain and the paintings. It wasn't just a dinner, it was a complete lovely experience 🥰

So we had dinner in the old house at 7 pm, the food was pretty good person is where are vegetarian, didn’t prepare for us properly. I was still definitely recommend all of the desert. But police to consider carefully before you order any of the veggie dish. The location of the restaurant is definitely very convenient for any traveller as well has to enjoy the river view after dining. I would recommend for you if you like spicy food and eat in the fancy restaurant

This place is unbelievable! Not what you’d expect in Lisbon, Portugal. The Szechwan chefs are amazing! They come here to work and their recipes are all kept in their heads no books or notes. There food and seasonings are all authentic! The food and drinks were amazing! My husband has visited three times and when I traveled with him he took me there and I am so glad he did. I highly recommend it. It’s right off the water. And has a beautiful property. The waiter was fantastic and friendly. He even gave us a special tour!

We were disappointed with the xiao long bao. It didn't arrive warm, and it seemed like it might have been frozen rather than freshly prepared by the chef. Additionally, for a dish described as a 'steamed soup dumpling,' the inside was dry and had a strange paste. It didn’t taste like xiao long bao. The staff was friendly and the environment was pleasant. We also had Peking Duck which was okay-ish. Given the prices at this restaurant, I was hoping for a more authentic Chinese culinary experience…

Excellent and fast service, amazing food (typical). Better for groups due to large doses.

The food and service here is impeccable. The decor is nice as well. It’s perfect for both small and large groups. We ordered shrimp, sweet duck, pork in black bean sauce, wontons, kung pao soup and fried rice. All of the dishes were delicious!

Hands down the best Sichuan restaurant in Lisbon. All dishes are delicious and had great presentation. Upscale decoration and friendly services. A bit pricy but a perfect way to finish my visit to Lisbon. Will definitely come back for more!

I've been coming to this restaurant for a few years and the food is always delicious! Very authentic chinese food and the waiters are always very pleasant. The ambience is also very traditional and they sometimes have live performances at dinner time. It's a bit on the expensive side but I would say it's totally worth it if you want a more refined experience ig.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Lisbon. Gluten free options are available.

A good Chinese restaurant in a beautiful and convenient location. It’s more upscale than most of the other Chinese restaurants in the city. We liked the food, the prices are a bit on a higher side but the food and the atmosphere completely worth it. Portions for many positions are huge.

I had a wonderful dining experience at the Old house restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I particularly enjoyed their amazing grilled spicy fish, beef in chili oil, and many other dishes. The fish was perfectly seasoned and tasted fabulous. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Lisbon.
