Just left the Avenida Palace and our stay couldn't have been better. Service was top notch and the daily breakfast was excellent. Tiago was very courteous and helpful each morning. The location is central to everything so walking all over is ideal. Rooms are a bit small, but that is typical Europe. A definite thumbs up.

Beautiful classic old hotel in Lisbon. Great central location. Very attentive service from front desk, concierge, and bar. Rooms are a bit small but very nice. I was able to get a free boxed breakfast to go when I checked out at 3:30 am to catch an early morning flight. The Avenida Palace takes care of its guests like the good old days! Highly recommended!

Highly recommend, as long as you are expecting a traditional European sized hotel room, you will not be disappointed. Room is charming and comfortable, but the bathroom is very efficient with space. Extremely helpful and attentive staff, with a great location for walking downtown and quick access to lots of public transport for visiting other parts of Lisbon, including the airport. Many rooms have a nice view over the square and some look out over the street. Even being in a high activity area, we hardly noticed any noise from outside while we were sleeping

We had the pleasure of staying at this truly stunning hotel. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were in awe by its remarkable beauty, adorned with exquisite chandeliers and captivating artwork. Our room had ample natural light and high ceilings that added a touch of grandeur. However, what truly set this hotel apart was its impeccable service. Sara/Sarah at the reception went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. She made us feel incredibly welcome. Their thoughtful gestures included an instant camera picture, a cellphone in the room to use and free tickets to the art museum were nice. The breakfast was excellent. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I was with the level of care and attention we received throughout our stay. The hotel staff's genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel like cherished guests. Without a doubt, we will be returning to this hotel in the future. The combination of its remarkable beauty, excellent service, and the unforgettable memories created for my family make it a place I can wholeheartedly recommend.

I stayed at Avenida Palace November 10, 2021 to November 14, 2021. While I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Lisbon, I am disappointed to write a less-than-stellar review for Avenida Palace despite all of the positive reviews that led me to book my stay in the first place. Unfortunately, a single incident soured my stay enough that I feel compelled to share the awful customer experience that I received. On the early morning of November 12, 2021, I was returning back to Avenida Palace via cab to find that the front doors had been locked. I knocked on the glass and a security guard welcomed myself and two friends who were also staying at the hotel. We walked through the lobby towards the elevator when we heard the security guard say, “the cab driver would like to speak to you.” Clearly upset, the cab driver lunged towards my friends and I, using his foot to prevent the elevator that we were in to close. He claimed that we had left his cab dirty and scoffed that “this wasn’t America where we could do that.” As a group of New Yorkers, we are very familiar with cab etiquette and did not, in fact, leave his cab unclean. Ultimately, the cab driver grabbed me by the arm, dragging me back outside of the hotel, and threw cleaning wipes at me, demanding that I clean his car. Terrified of what would happen if I didn’t, I spent 10 minutes wiping down the entirety of his car. The hotel security guard did absolutely nothing to keep me safe, and even held the door open for the cab driver as he physically pulled me out of the hotel. Visibly shaken, I returned to my room that night. Later that morning, my friends and I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the General Manager but found out that he wasn’t there. Instead, we spoke to Pedro, the Front Desk Manager. When we explained what happened earlier that morning and asked if there was something he could do about it, he said he would look into it. We heard nothing more from him. On our last day on November 14, we asked to speak with the Executive Manager (Manuel) who was in that day. After re-explaining the situation, he said that he had heard from the Assistant Manager despite him not reaching out to us to follow up. Manuel was very accusatory, asking me if I had done something to the cab driver to cause him to be so upset and why I hadn’t recorded his license number. He also asked me why I explicitly didn’t ask for help. I explained that I was in a state of shock when I was physically dragged by a cab driver who should’ve never been allowed into the hotel lobby to begin with. Manuel said that there was nothing he could and – quite concerningly – let us know that security cameras outside the building were coincidentally out of service so he couldn’t view any footage. For a 5-star hotel with very positive reviews, I was shocked by the whole experience. Shocked that the cab driver was allowed into the lobby to berate me, shocked that the hotel security did not protect me when a cab driver was physically grabbing me, and shocked that the General Manager did nothing to set the situation right (I wasn’t even offered a free cocktail at the bar, let alone the comped night that I rightfully deserved). I would absolutely not recommend Hotel Avenida as I did not feel safe during my time there and felt let down from a customer service standpoint. I sure hope that Pedro and his team do better in the future.

I loved everything about this hotel! This was our first trip to Lisbon and the location of this hotel was amazing. The service was impeccable from the doorman, reception, bar staff, breakfast and housekeeping the staff went out of their way to ensure that the guests were happy. The rooms clean and comfortable we even received a special treat on the first night. Breakfast was delicious with so many options. The bartender whose name I totally forget was fabulous! Thank you for making our first trip so special, we will definitely return.

We had spent nearly two months in Portugal when we arrived at the Avenida Palace and had lodged at some amazing properties but the Avenida Palace set the bar even higher. The rooms are well appointed but it’s the staff that set the Avenida Palace apart from other hotels. The concierge staff know the city and surrounding areas and are connected to everything. The bar area is spectacular and the staff are very attentive to your needs. Located in the heart of the city near a metro station this hotel is walking distance to some incredible restaurants and bars. Amazing location, incredible staff and beautiful rooms make Avenida Palace the perfect place to stay when you’re in Lisbon.

From the moment we pulled into the driveway, the service we received from this hotel was nothing short of excellent. Our trip to Lisbon was amazing, but staying at this hotel made it even more enjoyable and memorable. The staff truly treat you like royalty. It was clean, breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, and we were surprised with little gifts/treats every night upon returning to the room. Would stay there again and recommend this hotel to anyone going to Lisbon!

An absolutely awesome hotel. Very grand, clean and an incredible staff. The housekeepers were fantastic and the bar staff was very congenial. The restaurant recommendations were spot on. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I ever had. The breakfast buffet was awesome. Did I mention how good the breakfast was? I would return to Lisbon just to have the opportunity to stay at this hotel again. The best!

I stayed here 4 nights in mid-November and really enjoyed it. My room was very comfortable and quiet despite facing the street. The views from the room (on the 6th floor) were very good. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and actually a highlight of my stay. When I return to Lisbon, I will stay here again.

This hotel was the best one during my holiday. Elegant and stunning. Room was pretty like Rococo feeling. Bathroom is clean, but will be nice to be updated. The location is super. If you plan to go Sintra on your own, the train departures from Rossio station, right next to the hotel. Building is so pretty and staff are very welcoming with professionalism. I want to highlight the breakfast especially. The selection was widely prepared and I loved the choices of fresh juice. The staff at the breakfast room made our morning very happy and pleasant throughout our 4 days stay. They have warm welcoming smile, sofisticate manner, and wear nice uniform. Thank you very much!

This hotel is awesome. My husband and I had a great experience. The rooms are clean and very nice, the original touches and history of the hotel seems to be preserved. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is very diverse and very good. Highly recommend.

It was a good hotel. Everything that I expect from such place. Quite during night, nice, not too small rooms. Very good location and good breakfast. What else is needed? Yes, elegant and esthetic interior design, which is the case in Avenida Palace.

Just amazing the architecture of this hotel is just amazing. 5 stars. Definitely pricey but it felt like it was worth it. The location is great for a base for sightseeing. Could not fault the service or standard in the hotel and we would definitely come back. If your romantic at heart this is the hotel for you

This hotel was beautiful! The location was amazing! We walked all over Lisbon from here. Great restaurants and interesting places to see all around. An easy taxi or scooter ride to the water front and the Alfama. The staff were all very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was amazing!! My only regret was not having more time to spend here!

This is one of the nicest hotels that I know. The hotel itself is beautiful, very well located, the rooms are lovely, and the breakfast is really excellent. But what makes this an exceptional hotel is the staff - all the staff are unfailingly courteous, thoughtful, considerate. I certainly couldnt recommend this hotel highly enough.

Beautiful, luxury hotel in the heart of Lisbon! My wife and I thoroughly loved our five night stay. Very ornate architecture and furnishings. The staff is wonderful, made us feel like royalty! Breakfasts were delicious, buffet-style with lots of options, in a huge, high-ceiling dining room with chandeliers and staff wearing tuxedos. Not an everyday kind of place, but if you want to splurge once or twice in your lifetime, this is the place to do it!!! (Photos below show night view of hotel on right with train station on left. And very fancy lobby!)

Luxury, location and comfort. There was no comfort this hotel did not think of. It is perfectly located in the center of Lisbon and allowed me to see all the sights, but return to the hotel during the day to drop off purchases, wash my face, take a nap without sacrificing any travel time. It was so central I returned my rental car.I walked almost everywhere. After traveling through Portugal, Lisbon was a big city. When I walked in the lobby, the warmth and calm let me leave all the noise of the city behind me. The bed was delicious. The sheets exquisite and crisp. Turn down service every night with small chocolates. The bathroom had everything I could possibly need. Heated towel racks. A remote control heater above the door with a timer to let me warm the marble tiles. A step stool to put up my foot to dry them properly and apply lotion. A smart phone available for my use while in the city..and umbrella in case it rained... A small gift every day….a tote to carry my purchases…a pastry to enjoy…the delicious breakfast buffet with the beautiful linens overlooking the city center before you started your day…the china…the service. And at the end of the day, a delicious, warm bar with deep chairs to sink into. The game on a TV in the corner if I wanted. The piano player around the corner if I wanted. A good scotch with chocolate cake if I wanted..which I did. The staff everywhere were warm and friendly, from the doormen to the concierge and reception to the servers and room cleaners. This hotel was everything I wanted and everything I didn’t know I wanted. I cannot express how much I enjoyed my stay there. Especially after Covid when so many in the hospitality industry are struggling to keep their standards up while recover, this hotel did not miss in anyway. No trip to Lisbon would be complete without staying here.

My mom and I stayed in this hotel end of July. We were blown away by how beautiful, exquisite, unique the hotel is and how much charm it had. The detail of this hotel is amazing, including the luxury of the foyer. In addition location was perfect it was walking distance and around the center of town, so in the evening we would walk around so many stores and beautiful monuments. I sincerely want to thank the staff at Avenida Palace. Everyone from the concierge to the staff helping with our luggage, housekeeping and staff in dining were so wonderful, warm and welcoming. My mom loved this hotel. In addition, I want to mention they gave us small gifts in the evening/surprises in our room that were so thoughtful. From little pastel del natas, to small tote bags (that became so useful). Housekeeping was the best housekeeping my mom and I had at any hotel . Our rooms were cleaned and whenever we had questions or needed items for our room they provided it with a smile. The Breakfast was so amazing, everything you could ask for. They were so thoughtful to leave clean workout towels, and apples and bottles of water by the front desk in the morning to anyone who did a morning run in the early hours or were about to go on an early tour. Few words that comes to mind with Avenida Palace: Luxury/thoughtfulness and feeling at home. They care about the experience of each guest. I am so thankful I booked this hotel for our vacation. My mom keeps talking about how wonderful the staff was here. I sincerely want to thank them. I know she enjoyed Portugal because of this hotel. Please do not hesitate to book a hotel room with Avenida Palace.

Hotel is full of old world charm. Beautiful decor. Location, location, location and close to many walking sights. Staff were great and attentive. The only suggestion I make is possibly to have an omelet for breakfast even thought the breakfast buffet was good.Really enjoyed the time there.

Amazing location and top service at Avenida palace. Great spot to walk around the city. Beautiful touches from the house keeping (fresh strawberries, a tote bag) were received and very appreciated! We were able to check in hours in advance to shower and relax, which we so appreciated. Some of the decor (and things like the shower) was definitely meant to reflect an old palace. Maybe not the best choice if you’re looking for a more modern stay. Overall, highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location, it's right smack in the city center, accessible to the metro, plenty of shops, and restaurants near Avenida Liberdade. The hotel itself gives you a glimpse of the history. The service team are great! When we came back in the room, there was champagne, strawberries and chocolate prepared which was a suprise as one of the nights we stayed was my birthday. In the morning the staff greeted me and sent me a pancake with a candle! That was really sweet. Such great values and amazing hospitality! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon, for first timers and return visitors too! Thank you so much!

Perfectly located in the heart of Lisbon. With rooms looking over the square - the breakfast room was once a royal dining room with service still the same. The free valet parking makes moving in and out a breeze with superb service from all. We also grabbed a drink at the bar & some bites before heading out to dinner. Only place to stay in Lisbon :)

The staff is simply amazing. My husband and I stayed here for the last leg of our European vacation. The room was spotless and available for us upon on our arrival. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel cared for. This is true old-school hospitality. Little touches that make all the difference! We also had high-tea, which was delicious, as was their breakfast. We absolutely will return! Many thanks for a wonderful stay! - The Webers

Fabulous hotel! Loved the interior decor, chandeliers, breakfast room, bar area. Staff was very helpful. Had forgotten housekeeping service in USA where even for higher price you have to ask for everything. Add the location and the convenience of Rossio station - its unbeatable value.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location! Pure old style luxury with ornate painted walls and rooms with exceptional service. You will be pampered and want to stay forever. Great breakfast spread in a multi crystal chandelier room. Once outside you are within walking distance to many of Lisbon attractions and shopping streets. Definitely 5 stars!

This hotel came highly recommended to me and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Lisbon. This hotel is beautiful inside and out. The location was perfect! It’s central to everything and there were multiple bus stops right across the street. Tons of restaurants are within a few mins walk. The hotel staff was amazing! Super friendly and they helped arrange a private driver to drive us around cities outside of Lisbon. My favorite part was the breakfast buffet included with our stay. Champagne, poached eggs, smoked salmon… the list goes on. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast ever!! I will stay here again next time I’m in Lisboa.

Beautiful hotel with interesting history. We stopped by to initially just look inside but ended up having a few drinks in the beautiful bar where spies were known to spend time during WWII. Definitely an underappreciated stop!

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Avenida Palace. We stayed there for 3 days, then went to Porto where the hotel was terrible, and missed this one so much, then we stayed there again on the back end of the trip. Rooms are large and clean. The breakfast is incredible. Service is second to none. I’ve stayed at great hotels all over the world and this one I’ll come back to. Best hotel and service I’ve received anywhere in Europe. Don’t think twice, stay here, you will be pleased.

진짜 별로 가지 마세요 너무 오래됐고 옆방 소음 안됨 This was the worst hotel for my Portuguese trip. As soon as I got to the room there was a hair on the toilet cover was disgusting. It said clean and sanitized but it was not. New slipper also dirty as well. I wanted to cancel this hotel and move to another hotel as soon as possible. I hear from next room what people are doing shower, flushing. It is kinda annoying for that. Also, they brought the strawberry for complimentary but I couldn’t eat that. It is very hard to eat it. I m not sure if they are checking the food quality as well. I really don’t like this room at all😭 3 성급 호텔 수준이네요 I changed the review to 3 stars because they took care of my staying well.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. The Reception staff were outstanding and provided excellent service. I asked them to arrange a treat for my Wife's birthday at short notice. They provided an exceptional surprise which we appreciated. We stayed in one of the family suites and this was immaculately clean and of a good standard. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and all you need on a short break. From the cleaning staff to the breakfast staff, I have no complaints. They were all friendly and attentative to our needs and those of other residents. The location of the hotel is perfect to walk to all attractions or shopping areas. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I can’t believe the positive reviews here. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and this place does not compare. At all. The only positives I found were the staff was friendly and the suite was large. The location is also very central. But… The bed was literally as hard as a rock and the pillows were a low quality foam which made it virtually impossible to sleep. On top of that the carpets in the room were old worn and stained. There was so much dander or dust mites that my wife had to use an inhaler which she only has to use when she gets near cats. I could go on but suffice it to I recommend NOT booking here. We were supposed to stay for two nights but I found another hotel (a real 5 star) for the 2nd night. As an addendum, the hotel did not charge us for a 2nd night (thought we also checked out after one night) even though they could have due to their cancel policies, so I appreciate that. Nonetheless I cannot recommend this place.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights - it was fantastic in every way and compelled me to leave a review. The things that stood out was that this is a genuine 5 star hotel. Every member of staff was incredibly friendly, polite, professional and courteous; there was not a shred of bad attitude in the hotel from the reception, to the bar, to the cleaners and to the waiting staff it was all lovely. Secondly, the different treat surprises in the room every day were a lovely surprise and something we began to look forward to each day, and the evening turn down service was again a real 5 star hallmark. The breakfast had a cooked and continental option as well as sweet treat and was all to a high standard. The location was brilliant for exploring the neighborhoods around in each direction and great for easily getting to and from the airport. Would definitely stay here again and recommend others to give it a try - not to mention the grand period style hotel which was a beautiful.

What a fabulous hotel! This hotel is a real gem; it is our first visit to Lisbon and weren't quite sure what to expect but this hotel surpassed all expectations. Once inside you realise why it is called the Avenida Palace, its spacious and opulent reception areas and rooms ooze charm and the luxury of a bygone age. All the staff are friendly and engaging and willingly offer whatever assistance is required. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a perfect place to stay!

We had an excellent stay.. room was beautiful, location is perfect. The breakfast is the best we have had and we are travelers. The concierge and staff were so friendly and recommended great tours and restaurants. We would like to go back to Lisbon just to experience this hospitality again!!! Alexandra went out of his way to bring us to a good restaurant around the corner. It is a stunningly beautiful plush hotel and they make sure you are treated like royalty. They even sent up a bottle of cold Prosecco with chocolate dipped strawberries to mark my husbands birthday!
