This place has given themselves 5 stars... It's a 3 star hotel with a push. The decor and the rooms have seen better days, only 2 lifts (one of them was often broken), fire escape stairwell was plane dangerous (very little visibility and less than 1.7m headroom at places), pool was freezing cold and to get to it is a mission, breakfast fairly average. Oh and they close their gym on Sundays! Not going there again

For a hotel that advertises itself as a 5 star hotel, it is sure far from what is expected. If it was shown as a 3 star hotel I would rate it way higher but it doesn't live up to its expectations. The rooms are comfortable and spacious but the decor is quite old fashioned. It was very clean but there were some parts as for example inside the closet or outside the window that had been forgotten and full of dust. The swimming pool area and other amenities are quite nice and location is very lovely. The staff tho it was a mixed experience, sometimes they were nice and helpful but other times they were very cold and almost unwelcoming. Even though I enjoyed my stay here I would not repeat or recommend, although the price is unbeatable.

Me and my colleagues staying here were discussing how this can be a 5 star hotel. I would say it's a 3 star hotel. The service is good, but so many things in the room were slightly broken and crooked. The pool is only open during the summer. My room didn't have a lamp in the ceiling, so it was very dark. Bathroom door didn't really close, didn't have a lock, and the handle was loose. The bath tub didn't have a plug, so I couldn't take a bath. Only shower. This is only a few of the problems.

The location is perfect. The rooms are okay, but there are a few things 'broken' which a real 5-star hotel really should fix. examples: There is only 1 elevator for the entire hotel and no stairs, the second elevator was not working for our entire 1 week Stay and from the comments i Read it has been broken for weeks.. Our airconditioning stopped working on the second night, someone came and fixed it in minutes, 3 days later it was broken again. The repair guy was not working so we got moved into another room which also had broken AC.. In conclusion: hotel is fine but for a 5 star hotel they are really lazy with long overdue maintenance.

This is a wonderful hotel. It's roomy, and cozy at the same time. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was modern and had a nice hot, powerful shower. The pool is not for serious swimming, but perfect for cooling off on a hot day on the roof. The spa was great, if small. There is a sauna, high pressure showers, and ice. There might be a steam room as well... I can't recall. The gym is also very well equipped for a hotel. While the hotel isn't central, it's a quick metro to the centre.

If I could give a 0, I would. Clearly after reading all the comments this is not a hotel to trust, I came here because a friend’s personal item was stolen on her room. It wasn’t anything of economical valuable, yet still, it was stolen from her room when she left it for the day, and when she asked the staff, they justified there was nothing they could do because it wasn’t inside the safe. Maybe if it was an electronic object, or jewelry, but it being a stuff animal one would understand there is no need to keep it on the safe. But apparently, maybe you are going to have to put even your clothes in the safe, just to make sure you don’t leave your room naked.

The room was not luxurious, but beaten down. Pieces of the interior was chipped or broken off. The water temperature in the shower kept changing while showering and the drain was almost clogged. They advertise themselves as a 5-star hotel but there's nothing 5-star about it. The staff was nice and courteous and that's about the best thing I can say about this hotel.

Where do I start... this hotel is horrible! The staff were extremely rude, I went to the gym in the hotel (extremely small) and was yelled at for not having a booking...when I got in the gym was empty. The sauna, both pools and most facilities were closed...including the restaurant! The hotel room was the worst, the toilet seat was all cracked and uncomfortable and the curtains were dusty. The matress was okay. This is not a 5 star hotel, I would say 3 at most! Highly not recommended.

Not a 5 star hotel by any standard. When booking a 5 star hotel you expect certain type or service and attitude. The rooms are outdated with furniture that is damaged. Bath tubs that do not work a swimming pool that is closed and you only find out when you arrive for check in. The staff is not friendly at all and most of the time they ignore you, unless you have a tea like I did and they almost chase you for the payment. ( 2 euro ) In general, don't book this hotel because it is not worth it and really wish I would not have booked this hotel.

My stay at VIP Grand Lisboa Hotel & Spa was nothing short of a nightmare. The room's engineering design was shockingly inadequate. Not a single outlet beside the bed for convenient charging, and the lone outlet across the bed was about as useful as a paperweight – it didn't work! Moving on to the bathroom, the stains on the tiles resembled a crime scene, and the water temperature seemed to have a mind of its own, fluctuating between scalding and freezing without warning. It was like taking a shower in a game of Russian roulette. And speaking of surprises, the discovery of what appeared to be blood stains on the sheets was utterly appalling. The room emitted a foul odor that could only be described as a mix of mold and neglect. The cleanliness of the floors was nonexistent; it was a challenge to even contemplate walking around barefoot, let alone getting into bed. And to add insult to injury, the complimentary shower gel they provided was so watered down it might as well have been tap water. Overall, my experience at VIP Grand Lisboa Hotel & Spa was a complete disaster. From the lack of functional amenities to the deplorable cleanliness standards, it's safe to say that I will not be returning – unless, of course, they undergo a complete renovation and overhaul of their operations. Furthermore, I anticipate the hotel's inevitable response to this review, likely urging me to bring these issues to their attention during my stay. However, a quick glance at the reviews reveals that my experience is far from isolated. It appears that numerous guests have encountered the same problems, indicating that the hotel is well aware of these issues but chooses to feign concern rather than take meaningful action. The issues at VIP Grand Lisboa Hotel & Spa run deep. Don't trust their promises. Until real changes are made, I recommend finding another place to stay. SIDE NOTE: Discovered bed bug bites on my leg upon waking up on day two.

Can't be 5/4 even 3 star hotel. Should be between 2 to 2.5. Room didn't have water kettle nor any coffee makers, phone wasn't working so had to go down to the lobby for requests, in room dining was a joke as the salad I ordered was just a sprinkle of dated faded mixed veggies with questionable salmon 4 pieces. Shower doesn't have screen nor curtain, water would sprinkle the entire bathroom floor, so I had to shower while sitting down the bath tub... Ok the positive side, matteress was comfortable.

Not a 5 star any more. Pool wasn't open, rooms are a little tired and walls thin. The reception, bar and restaurant are attractive. Staff friendly and helpful

After hearing what happened to my co-worker, I would not stay at this hotel. In addition to allowing theft, they have shown a lack of empathy and unprofessionalism. They should take responsibility for the actions of their employees and take action, it is a five-star hotel where one of their employees has stolen something from a room.

Amazing hotel, was only there for one night, but they were very hospitable and located close to the city centre and train station. rooms were large and had all amenities. they have early checkin and late checkout, but only if available and you need to request it.

Our flight got cancelled and we had to find a hotel in the middle of the night. VIP was close to the airport, affordable $100ish a night, and clean. The breakfast at 15 euros is well worth it. It's got tons of options, and types of food. They even made my vegan wife a salad do she can get veggies.

It's probably the worst hotel room I've ever stayed in. As soon as you walk into the room there is a stale odor. I turned the air conditioner on to try and clear the air, but of course, there is no cool air to be found. The air conditioner does not work. I walk into the bathroom, and both the sink and tub are clogged. The steel shower control falls off and lands on my foot. Luckily, nothing was broken, but I screamed in pain. No coffee or tea pot in the tiny room, nothing but a small refrigerator that doesn't cool. I stayed at this dump for 4 nights and reported all of this. The only thing resolved was the shower control attachment, but then I could only get scalding hot water in the shower. This hotel should be condemned. The furniture is old and outdated, there's no room to open a suitcase, no place for soap on the sink counter, this is a hostel, nothing more. I stayed here with a 25 person tour group, I will be filing a formal complaint and asking for a portion of my tour costs to be refunded. My foot is permanently bruised, and my entire vacation ruined.

The rooms are decent size, but only has 1 elevator for the whole 11 floors... The wifi is trash and they need a 40 euro hold to use the iron. The location is close to the train

Where do I even start, as soon as we came into our room, terrible, the bed looked like someone had rested on it, there were stains on the curtains and floor, the furniture pretty old, the room was so cold when we arrived, tried warming it up, no success. Called the desk 2/3 times to have someone come fix the AC. The bathroom looked like there were things missing, the toilet seat too high. The Wi-Fi was barely working, I had to use my phone data 90% of the time when I was in. Breakfast was okay, could have been better, there are 2 lifts, but only one was working, most of the facilities were closed, I booked the hotel just because of the swimming so that my daughter could have some fun, instead they sent us to another hotel’s swimming pool, didn’t like it, looked very dirty to me. To be honest, for a 5 star hotel and for the PRICE I expected so much better than this. Didn’t enjoy my stay, very uncomfortable and everything very pricey for the service done. It’s not recommended to anyone.

Great hotel, conveniently located a couple of mns walk from the metro, simple access to either the airport or the city centre. Our room was very clean, everything in great condition and working fine (air con, TV, sockets etc). Beds extremely comfortable, and it was nice and quiet at night. On the day of our arrival we were too early to check in but they nicely stored our bags until later. The porter (Bruno) was so nice and helpful and gave up maps of Lisbon and lots of recommandations - awesome hospitality. Ladies at the spa on the other hand quite cold when we simply asked for directions. Overall we had a lovely stay and have recommended the hotel to family already.

We stayed for 2 weeks. pretty basic Hotel, unfortunately we had to ask for towels a lot and other stuff too, that was a bit annoying. also we read before our stay in a google review that stuff got stollen, so we decide to always lock our luggage, unfortunately we had to realize that they started or tried to open the lock. the location of the hotel is nice, lot of restaurants really good restaurants near by.

I loved this hotel. Simply loved it. It's in a nice neighborhood, and it's got all comforts expected of modern luxury. The rooms are more Spartan, but you won't be disappointed by the furnishings. The walls are well insulated so you maintain your privacy and quiet relaxation time. Do be aware that the design is dark, black stone with gold accents, and the halls, particularly the downstairs bathrooms may appear dim and intimidating.

I was lodged here by TAP in the middle of the night, because of flight delays. Close to the airport. Very friendly service, they took care of everything extremely smoothly. The rooms are very nice and quiet. Inviting breakfast selection.

Over priced . Paid 950 Euro for 2 nights for 2 rooms. Location is not close to the main city's attractions. Parking is available in the hotel for 12 Euro a day. The spa costs extra money to get into. Breakfast was disappointing for this price. Paid third the price in Porto for a better hotel. The front desk did not answer when we called several times from the room. Did not find hard soap in our room. The soap and shampoo tubes we got, were difficult to open for some reason. The gym is poor with some of the machines out of order. Was suprised not to have a kettle in the room

Decent hotel. It is surprising to be a 5star, you would think it's 4, but they don't charge that much. Not close to the centre, you'll need to take a taxi anytime you want to go and do something. Pretty happy overall, would stay again.

Really nice place, helpful staff .. I have no complaints whatsoever. Only one thing and this not the hotels fault… it’s really loud if you open your windows because of planes landing and the metro, it’s ok if you close the windows but stuffy.

The stay was amazing! Pedro Fonseca and his colleagues were such nice staff members and took care of me, as I arrived a little bit too early. The beds are comfortable, the shower is beautiful and the whole hotel is just so luxurious! I felt like a princess. There is a really nice pool area and the roof in the first floor and a spa right next to it. Also there is a gym. I slept like a baby there and nearly missed check out which was also no problem. 10/10 can recommend 🥰🥰

Although far from downtown and historic Lisbon this hotel is a great option to stay in Lisbon, specially if you are in town for business as it was my case. Cost/benefit ratio very good. Good rooms, good breakfast, fair service.

I have to travel a lot due to work purposes and this 5stars hotel was by far my worst experience. It was literally unbelievable how basic the rooms are. Most importantly, the staff weren’t hospitable, polite, or even helpful. For example I wanted to cancel my accommodation once I saw the room and leave (due to poor quality). However, the guy in reception promised us to give us a better room in the morning (with the same price). When I went back in the morning another staff member was in charge and she didn’t know about the agreement of their colleagues (it shows how staff are not well-informed how to take notes and change shifts). They wasted my time and kept me waiting for nothing as they said it was a mistake of the colleague and I should pay an extra 100€ per night for a better room. When I asked to talk to their manager they didn’t let me (they said he will be in a long meeting and can’t meet). Staff are not well trained and for a 5star hotel you could tell most of them are not in the polite side. Absolutely didn’t worth the price. Don’t waste your money or time for this hotel.

Good location, nice spa and swimming pool (though it is unheated). Room smelt a bit bad and it was difficult to open the window but we managed to in the end, which helped. Key cards often stopped working and there was often a queue and reception, therefore only 4/5 for service. Overall a good stay.

The hotel is not a five star hotel but a maximum of three stars. The hotel is a spa hotel, but the pools are closed during the winter season. There are pictures of the indoor pool, but when we asked about the pool, it does not exist. Rooms clean but worn and old fashioned. The hotel spa staff was friendly but the reception was not. I thought they could speak several languages, but they couldn't say good morning, good evening, or forgive in any language. The door opening card stopped working several times and was never regretted. And when I got to the hotel, I couldn't get in because my male friend had booked a room. He should have emailed permission to get in. I couldn't contact him because he was flying here at the time. So I had to be outside for 5 hours. I do not recommend this hotel.

poor hotel facilities. SPA and Pool is closed. Manager is not available and per hotel policy receptionists are not allowed to contact manager by phone. Air conditioning not working in the room and shower was leaking throughout the night.

Not what you expect from a 5-star hotel. Paid €150 for one night excluding breakfast. Hotel has a lot of deferred maintenance; bathroom had a broken drain cover (hole in the floor), and the side of the tub was pulled loose. Window handle was completely broken off, lamp switch had been wrapped in duct tape to repair, furniture fairly beat up, tiles from exterior sitting outside window Other cons: pool unheated and super cold, rooms very small, room had an odor upon arrival Pros: location is close to rail station, air conditioning worked pretty well, blackout curtains let the room get very dark for sleeping

This Hotel is trash !!! , had to change my check-in date "not the whole reservation" and they refused to do so, or cancel with refund. Had to unexpectedly rebook my flight for a couple days after the initial planned date, and asked them to alter my check-in date in the same week long that I had paid for!!!! The hotel was actually gaining on me, because I wouldn't be using the room for 2 days/nights, and still refused to alter my check-in!!!

Lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay there. Unfortunately there was a mix up at check in and we are still waiting for a refund of €75 since July 2023. The hotel agreed to refund it but given that I had checked out, they can’t seem to figure out how to get it to me. I’ve offered to accept it via Revolut or PayPal or bank transfer but still nothing. I keep getting fobbed off that someone in finance will contact me but they never do. I paid using my phone and as a result I don’t have a credit card number for them to refund to. Beyond frustrating at this stage. I’m sure if I owed them €75 they would have figured out straight away how to get the money from me

Belated review I ought to share. I had a good nights sleep in this hotel which is located in a convenient location with a wide variety of good restaurants. The hotel parking lot is pretty spacious. Check-in staff were attentive and courteous. Rooms clean with excellent sound proofing. Can't fault anything.

Front desk personnel did an exceptionally poor job by accommodating our needs. We’ve requested to speak to the staff manager & we were told he wasn’t available to come to speak to us. We were also told that the front clerks were not allowed to contact the manager by phone as a policy rule..... Terrible! About the condition of the room: the AC wasn’t working in the room & kept blowing hot air, the shower kept on leaking throughout the entire night Overall experience - not worth a 10 bucks. Much stress and incompetent personnel with bad attitude. Won’t be coming back and won’t recommend to any of my international friends to stay at this hotel.

Very nice hotel, though I can't comment on all thy facilities as didn't get to use them all. Our room was small, but clean and had all the necessary things you would need. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet, a little on the pricey side but if you were hungry, it was worth it. Staff at the front desk were very helpful, polite, and tried to help when they could. Small walk to metro and over ground trains, but only about 10min from the airport.

80's disco style hotel with long dark, mirrored halls with tiny lights on the ceiling. Room layout is terrible. Access to the pool required a person to take 3 elevators. Maid service didn't replace the water, or leave clean towels and removed the card which was required to make the electricity work, so my cell phone didn't get charged.

Rooms are ok. Great service and breakfast. It is right smack in the middle of some hotel Quarter with much tourism going on so to see something nice you have to expect walking for 20 to 40 minutes

It is what you would expect from a modern, city hotel. Nothing spectacular about the room, very clean. Staff was the difference particularly Bruno and bartender. We did not partake in spa or pool offerings. Good location for train and metro access.

  • 5/5 Paul S. 10 months ago on Google
The hotel is well situated next to the metro/train station & a nice walk to the nearest parks. The rooms were clean (we did an upgrade, which was well worth it!) and spacious, with tasteful decor. The view from our room was nothing special, but we weren’t there to sit by the window. The curtains blocked out the morning light perfectly. The bed & pillows were comfortable, & good shower, once we worked out how to use it. The staff were amazingly welcoming & helpful. I used the gym, which is small but well equipped. The pool was difficult to find at first, but worth it, with a good supply of fluffy towels. It’s on the 1st floor roof, so no views, but the beach is a train ride away. It was nice to relax in the early evening while the sun was still out & have a refreshing dip. People took there own supplies of chilled champagne to celebrate their holiday, as we also did, as there is no bar/cafe by the pool. I would most definitely stay there again!

The area is far from the center and not nice. The hotel has small rooms with bad uncomfortable fernitures and broken drowers. The bathroom has small and inconvinient Tab and dengerous slipery bath tab. There is not enoupgh light in the hotel lobby and corridors . Many 4 star hotels are much better. Really disappointing.

The hotel is wonderful. Check in easy and people friendly. BUT do not try to eat in the bar. Extremely RUDE server. Would not answer questions such as “Where is my side salad??” Finally : Reply: “That is what is on your burger!!” Really?? We could not get an answer on flavors of gelato. So, No dessert! We spoke to management but not much help. 5 of us experienced this server. We were offered a free drink. Really?? No thank you!!

Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any resort. This website will compare countless booking websites and typically will have prices a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of the highest rated in the area. I've been coming here for years. If you stay for a few nights you will love it I'm sure! We felt really comfortable in this hotel. The staff was really really nice. The series excellent. Also the pool was great. And the breakfast. OMG so goooood. Unfortunately, my boyfriend got sick so that we had to leave earlier. Not centrally located but close to a metro station, only 4 stops from downtown. Very nice interior, contemporary styling with lots of marble and glass. Everything is super clean. Nice bedroom with beautiful bathroom, electric shades and super large Samsung TV. Excellent sound-proofing (essential because a large part of Lisbon is under a flight path, including this neighborhood). Luscious breakfast for 10 EUR. The reason I am giving 5 stars is that I got a very good deal (not typical in high season). For the kind of money I paid this hotel is an absolute steal!

The reception offers great service, same with the cleaning staff and breakfast staff. The bar, however, is very limited, its items are overpriced and of poor quality. The bar staff cannot make off-the-menu orders like a milkshake (even though it sells ice cream and juices). Overall a three star experience.
