Don’t go here!!!! Terrible service. Random people in beds we paid for. Everything is dirty but especially the bathrooms. Besides that the showers were dirty and only one of the three was working. There is only one toilet per floor (so one per 40 people), and most of the time it didn’t had any toiletpaper. Also when you ring the doorbell downstairs, no one answers so you’re waiting very long outside.

Nightmare at "Disaster Hostel": The Worst Stay Ever I recently had the WORST of staying at Disaster Hostel, and I can confidently say it was one of the most appalling experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, it became abundantly clear that this establishment was a breeding ground for disappointment and frustration. Allow me to detail the numerous ways in which this hostel failed to meet even the most basic expectations. Before anything I would love first to appreciate the receptionist she was really helpful and respectful. First and foremost, Disaster Hostel proved to be exceptionally adept at parting guests from their hard-earned money. The exorbitant fees charged for the minimal amenities provided were nothing short of robbery. It's unfathomable how they can justify their prices when the bare essentials are missing. For instance, there was no sink in the room, forcing guests to trudge down to the shower room just to wash their hands or brush their teeth. The absence of such a fundamental feature is beyond comprehension. Adding insult to injury, the unfunctionality of air conditioning in the hostel was nothing short of cruel and unusual punishment, creating an unbearable and suffocating atmosphere. And when I reported back the owner of the hostel he rudly replied that he can't do anything about it for now and that the weather at night would be pleasent! Now, let's address the most disturbing aspect of my stay: the abhorrent violation of my privacy. Despite specifically booking a female room for my Friend, she was subjected to the appalling sounds of two individuals engaging in intimate activities in the bed above her. The noise echoed throughout the entire room, leaving me mortified and violated. It is inconceivable that Disaster Hostel would permit such blatant disregard for guest privacy, rendering their claims of a secure and comfortable stay entirely baseless. In conclusion, Disaster Hostel is a woefully inadequate establishment that fails to deliver on even the most basic promises of comfort, hygiene, and privacy. The lack of a sink, absence of air conditioning, pervasive stench, and the traumatic experience of sharing a room with amorous individuals are just a few examples of the myriad ways in which this hostel proves to be a nightmarish choice for any traveler. I implore anyone considering a stay at Disaster Hostel to reconsider and find alternative accommodations that prioritize their guests' well-being.

The room was EXTREMELY dirty from the mold in the toilet to the bed sheets, the shower head was broken, the shower door was broken and would not close, and air conditioning was leaking in our room and from the level above and not working properly too and the smell coming from the drains is disgusting. There was one guy working there and he was good and polite, the other lady did not really have professional and polite behavior. When my mother was having a shower in the morning a big leak happened in the level below and she had to stop showering, that was the only thing that made the place change us of room and they offered a "better" room when I told them I would leave the place and wanted my money back. Payment by cash only, I had to go downstairs to withdraw cash after waiting so long to talk to the receptionist, this should be informed previously. So to keep it short, the worst stay I have ever had in my life.

This hostel was really terrible. This hostel is older. There was no a hair dryer, towels are not ready. My room, a toilet and shower room were leaking and wash basins were blocked water. really stinky and dirty. The shower room was My bed wasn’t prepared. And staffs can’t speak English so it was difficult to understand. And a owner wasn’t kindly. Wifi almost dose not work. Place is good to go out, but If you want to sleep normal time, I definitely don’t recommend this hostel because outside is really noisy. This hostel is the worst in my life.

you burn in to flames in the bedroom because there is no A/C. The showers are closed at night. Its so small that makes you feel claustrophobic and with the hot it makes it even worse. I had three nights booked, today is my first night but I am going to another place because I cant stand another night.

Arrived and it took at least 45 minutes before someone checked us in. "Breakfast" is sitting out in the heat all day. Rooms were very warm with no air conditioning. Every corridor smells of urine. Showers were mostly out of order. Seems like no one cares about this place. Definitely avoid.

I just use one star because there is not cero start to qualify this horrible place, is an old, nasty and messy place, ones you come into the lobby you feel like you are in a jail, dirty wall, broken floor, people around look like homeless. The staff person(Saul) never show up at the check in. Please help others to avoid this place, you will lost your money and don’t gonna have another choice than booking in another hotel (if available) and pay an expensive last minute booking.

The location is good, but the hostel is filthy and the staff is rude. There is no soap in the bathrooms, not even at the kitchen sink. Mold all over the shower room. The toilette smells horrible. I requested a lower bunk when I booked, they put me in an upper bunk where the outlet doesn’t work, and wouldn’t let me change to a lower bed even though there were several empty beds in the room.

Please dont stay here! Has a nice location but its disgustin and doesnt look AT ALL like the photos. The only bathroom for women in the floor didnt had toilette paper, soap or nothing. The showers were really dirty. They dont change the sheets when u arrive, i found several hairs in my pillow. Its ugly, slow atention (wait more than an hour to the check in) and dirty. And it was impossible trying to communicate with the staff.

Never again! I'm not sure what is worst: the fact the the elevator is not working or the attitude towards that fact! No interest at all in even apologising for it. The room was reasonably clean but the whole building is very old and worn out. No ventilation and strong smell of sewage in the room. Nowhere near worth the very high price.

Kitchen is currently defect, and the kitchen floor is unstable. At the point that it might collapse, they only allow 1 person to go into the kitchen at this time. The beds are clean but the showers can use some improvements. If you want to stay at a cheap hostel that is like in the center of the city this might be something for you. Check-in after 3 PM, they do have a luggage storage and they are open 24/7!

Passports are haven hard-copy's taken and left out unattented with the information facing upwards. (Break on human rights in form of GDPR??) Check in took around 3 hours. Bathroom and toilet is like a third world country with 50/50% chance of getting fungus. The shower from third floor is leaking through the celing into the second floors shower. No soap on bathrooms or showers. They didnt have any towels. I had a bloodstain on my bedsheet. No curtains on the beds, so you can lie an have eye-contact through out the night with your neighbours. -5/5 experience if you want to test yourself to see how much you can suffer before bulging

We stayed 4 nights in this hostel in December, and the only good thing about it was the location. Reception wasn't open, as promised, at 8:30 there were still noone to help us. Toilet paper was not available for two days, and wasn't reloaded after we asked them to do so. The showering cabins are all in terrible condition, dangerous to use, and we didn't have warm water, had to wait for 15 minutes to get a lukewarm temperature. In one of the cabins even the showerhead was missing. I asked them for a hairdryer, and they didn't have. It is a 5-storey-building, in the middle of the city. A ridiculous quality. Not recommended at all !!!

Außer die Lage hat das Hostel nicht wirklich viel zu bieten. Es ist sehr abgeranzt und ungygenisch: - lustloses und unfreundliches Personal - Alle Duschen lassen sich nicht schließen - sie fallen wirklich auseinander und man muss Angst haben sich was einzufangen - 1 WC für Frauen + 1 für Männer auf einer Etage! - Kein Licht im Frauenklo - Klima im Zimmer geht nicht - ins Hochbett steigen ist sehr steil , hoch und gefährlich. - Überall Flecken an den Wänden (Schimmel?) - eben sind mir auch kalalaken in der Dusche über den Weg gelaufen Ein absolutes no go. Alles im allem dem Preis nicht wert !!!

don't stay here. It's a scam. On Booking looks soo much better. It's a lie. Nothing really works here: kitchen was out of order, reception was terrible, not clean, not safe enough. go to other places.

The worst hostel i have ever been.. staff is not friendly they just look for money and thats it afterpaying there attitude is totally changed… its 25 degree and they didnt switch on ac… dont stay here thanks

Worst hostel I've ever been, the bathroom is shared and only one shower works (1 of 5) you can't wash your hands at the toilet because the sink is broken as well... the AC doesn't work in my room, it made me feel inside a sauna sometimes. I did my reservation for 15 days but when it came at the 13th day, day checked me out in their system. And everytime I tried to solve my problem, the workers asked for 15 minutes to attend me. The wifi isn't good as well... so my recommendation is, don't go to that hostel.

It is a very centric hostel, very easy to walk from metro, bus and also from the center. Very close to old ascensor of Lisbon. My room was seeing it. The hostel is clean but they do not give towels, be prepared! The bed was clean and had an electric socket so you can charge your phone next to you at night. The rooms are large enough and have lockers but you have to bring your own lock and keys. You can only use the showers in limited times, the times are written on the doors of showers. I stayed in the 2nd floor and the showers were out of use so i used the oned in 3rd floor. And only 1 female and 1 male toilette per floor so if it s occupied you should try the other floors. And some people were nice in hostel but some employees were not that much. It s okay for short stays.

Check-in took ages, the bedroom does not look at all like the one on the website, and the bathrooms were absolutely horrendous. The first one I tried to use had water leaking in it from the bathroom above, and when I tried another bathroom, the smell was disgusting. There were balls of hair everywhere on the floor, the shower mats were disgusting.

Honestly after reading a lot of 1 star reviews I was wondering about this youth hostel, but it was quite fine. It's not a luxury place, so don't expect something like it. There was a water damage on the 3rd floor bathroom (what most photos saying it's dirty show) but it wasn't dirty. It's not sparklingly clean either, it's ... A dorm, with many people using a bathroom, so yeah, it's "used" but not dirty. The bed was confy, simple, lockers in the room, the central area was fine, with decent music playing and guest chatting away like a youth hostel should feel like. The location is very central, alfama on the east, Bairo alto right there, def expect the nights to be lively, you'll hear some noise outside, esp on WE. The "only" thing, is I think it's worth 15 euro/night, but because it's so central the price is bumped to 25 euro. For that price, a dorm is a bit expensive.

The hostel has its greatest glory behind it. The maintenance is so poor.(walls with molds, lights in the room broken, a few bathrooms didn't work at the floors etc.). Even access card to my room didn't work as well as card payment ( no information about it on the bookings). Only plus could be the location however you need to be ready for some noise from the street (during the day the traffic and construction works, in the night mainly drunks).

Let’s start with a positive thing: the location of Golden Tram hostel is very good, in the center, near the seaside and shopping street. All in all, this hostel does not respect human dignity, for the simple reason that it is extremely DIRTY. I asked for soap in the toilets, the receptionist said the hostel’s boss does not want to provide soap anymore. Sounded like a bad joke. I’ve never seen such dirty bathrooms. Man WC smell like pee. Showers offer no privacy. Floors are super dirty, full of hair, stains, whatever…. The sinks were full of sketchy stains, obviously had not been cleaned since ages. Stuffy, moldy smell everywhere. Thus very precarious. Last but not least, impossible to lock my locker in my room, either the handle was broken, either there already were random locked pads preventing me from using mine. Again, receptionist couldn’t do anything. Conclusion: only go there if you have NO OTHER CHOICE.

Firstly receptionist is great, honest service was 5/5. Location is 10/10, close to everything, close to pink street and all the trams. Couldn’t of pick a better location. Toilets were as bad as the reviews were left, could definitely use a lot of work on them but you can have a shower and bring your own toiletries. Your paying for what you get so if your young and wanna only be there for sleeping It’s worth it.

This hostel should be closed! The bathrooms are moldy and unusable! There are stains and bed bugs on the sheets. The owner is extremely unfriendly and in his opinion the circumstances are perfectly okay. There is no discount or anything else, who sleeps here can forget his holiday right away.
