I
was
going
to
deduct
a
star
because
of
the
lack
of
air
conditioning
(more
on
that
in
a
moment),
but
I
just
can't
do
it.
The
fact
is,
the
hotel
is
too
nice,
the
staff
too
courteous,
the
location
too
perfect,
for
me
to
give
it
anything
less
than
5
stars.
But
yes,
the
air
conditioning...
simply
wasn't
working.
We
visited
in
February,
but
the
weather
was
warm
by
our
Boston
standards
and
the
hotel
seemed
to
retain
and
produce
its
own
warmth,
probably
from
adjacent
rooms,
so
when
we
first
arrived,
our
room
was
about
80
degrees
F
-
waaay
too
stuffy
for
us
to
get
a
good
night's
sleep.
We
tried
turning
it
down,
but
could
not
get
anything
other
than
warm
air
to
blow
out
of
the
vents.
We
called
the
front
desk
and
the
staff
were
very
apologetic
and
accommodating.
They
moved
us
to
a
different
room
(frankly,
it
was
a
nicer,
larger
room
on
the
quieter
side
of
the
building).
The
bad
news
was
that
the
vents
in
the
new
room
also
only
blew
out
warm
air,
but
at
least
in
that
room
we
could
open
the
balcony
windows
wide
and
let
in
the
cool
night
breeze.
Unfortunately,
this
meant
that
fellow
guests
from
adjacent
rooms
could
have
easily
entered
our
room
while
we
slept,
but
we
didn't
get
robbed
or
murdered,
so
it
all
worked
out,
LOL.
My
suspicion
is
that,
because
the
week
we
stayed
there
was
unusually
warm
for
February,
the
hotel
simply
hadn't
turned
on
the
compressors
yet,
so
it
was
impossible
to
get
conditioned
air.
If
it
were
any
other
hotel,
I
would
definitely
deduct
a
star
(at
least),
but
the
truth
is,
AC
aside,
everything
else
was
absolutely
perfect.
Hotel
do
Chiado
is
a
beautiful
hotel,
well
maintained,
and
staffed
by
super
kind
and
courteous
people.
Everyone
at
the
front
desk,
as
well
as
breakfast
and
room
service
were
all
super
pleasant
and
attentive.
Beds
were
large
and
comfortable
and
the
rooms
were
spacious.
Location
is
awesome,
with
primo
shopping,
museums,
and
lots
of
excellent
restaurants
within
short
walking
distance
(as
long
as
you
don't
mind
the
hills).
There
is
a
metro
station
pretty
much
in
the
basement
of
the
hotel.
All
in
all,
we
had
a
fabulous
time
in
Lisbon
and
will
definitely
return
some
day.
And
yes,
I
would
absolutely
stay
at
Hotel
do
Chiado
again,
although
I
might
ask
in
advance
if
the
AC
is
working!
