Quite disappointing stay - def not a 4* hotel - reviews are misleading One hour prior arrival our booking was changed from the Living House to the Gallery House w/o any details or apologies. When we arrived staff (gray-haired female manager) asked us to wait 30mins as they were busy with admin tasks from the morning. Not normal for a 4* hotel. The manager was extremely rude, did not offer any apologies and highlighted the change of booking was due to covid (not clear though why we were only informed one hour prior arrival/after deadline of free cancellation). We were told by the manager either we’d take the room or “go somewhere else”. Furthermore, staff did not check vaccination certificates upon arrival. Rooms were not well cleaned and leftovers from previous visitors in the drawers. Rooms could benefit from a makeover. Carpets had stains and walls crumble off AC didn’t work in the night and the WiFi worked only sporadically.

Nice breakfast and courteous staff. However, despite letting them know a month in advance that I wouldn't need the last night due to flight changes, they still charged me for that night. Management, I would suggest that you change your refund policy especially if there is proof of that correspondence. I really wish they would have handled that more appropriately. I wouldn't suggest staying here if there is a chance your travel plans could change.

Very nice place 15 minutes by walk to the ocean and attractions. Rooms are very clean, staff is very friendly. I booked room with balcony (Attic Double or Twin Room with Terrace) on the top floor (3rd floor, no lift yet but they plan to have soon). Breakfast is OK they have egs, salad, croissants and some juices. Hotel was full but very quiet. If you go out you can find many nice places to dinner or have a drink. If you ask on the receptions for information they will kindly assist you where to go. They speak English which is great. Pics from the room are attached to this review.

The location is fantastic! Walking distance to bars, cafés and restaurants. The tram number 28 stops right in front of the door. The breakfast is great, the beds are comfortable and the shower is spacious and great, too. The service is very personalized and natural. And the decor and interior design feels really cool. I am recommending this 100%!

Gallery house is in an amazing location, short walk to amazing restaurants & bars! Upon arrival we were given wine & recommendations around Lisbon while we waited for our room, they stored our luggage and we went exploring! Everyone who is working there is so friendly & happy to help you. Keep in mind that they do not have a lift so you will have to walk up some flights of stairs especially if you’re on the top floor (we didn’t mind but I could see how some might). The carpets in our room could use a replacement or deep clean but still everything felt very clean, the shower pressure/temp were amazing! Just a tip we booked the terrace suit and there is no view but it was still a cute outdoor space. We would definitely come back for another stay with it being in our favorite area of Lisbon and with how amazing/friendly everyone working there was!!

Excellent location, large rooms, friendly staff. Walking distance to all the sites. Tram stop right in front. Breakfast included. A young hip vibe. Street side rooms get street noise so figure on AC with window closed. Two small can lights in the bathroom did not provide adequate lighting for shaving or makeup. Honor bar, safe.

Customer service is unmatched to anything I’ve experienced before. We had a late check in - 10pm. We were greeted with a warm welcome, offered drinks, and check in was seamless. We were shown to our room and everything was explained perfectly. Hotel itself is stunning and smells wonderful. No lift. Our room had its own AC. And the windows opened out to the courtyard. It had privacy curtains as well as wooden window door shutters so it was completely dark for night time. The hotel was pleasantly quiet. Breakfast had a nice variety and was delicious.

Very nice hotel in renovated old house. Reception is open until about 10pm although you can always get in using code. Rooms are spread over 3 floors while there is no elevator. Famous tram 28 stops right in front of hotel. Make sure to indicate if you want quiet room. Top floor rooms have lovely terrace. Breakfast is cosy and very nice, served between 8 and 10am. You can get a glass of wine and custard pie upon arrival. We used taxi service with pick-up at hotel, which was well organized using whatsapp.

Dear Lisbon, such a perfect place for a perfect stay. The hotel is really well located, it's not far from the main areas in the city, you can easily reach bars, restaurants and two main stations (Rossio and Cais do Sodre). The tram 28 stop in right in front of the front door which was so practical. The place is well decorated, posh and I felt at home there ! The room was spacious enough for the stay, the bathroom was clean and the products were amazing and smelled really nice. The view from the private terrace was lovely, we had a view of the sea, the roofs and the tram below. The staff were very friendly and professional but also very helpful with recommandations. They always tried the best to please us and spoke good English and French. The breakfast was divine, served at the table with enough distance between tables. There was a large choice of eggs, fresh fruit, croissants, bread with butter and jam, cheese and ham. And tea or coffee with juice. People in previous comments mentioned how the bedrooms with a window on the street were noisy with the tram but I didn't find it noisy, you can hear the tram but it's background noise and never woke us up.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Slightly out of the hussle and bustle, really close to green street with some lovely restaurants. 15/20 mins walk from the metro. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent! Coffee not so good. The hotel is beautiful inside, the entrance way and the big lounge area. We stayed in one of the mansard rooms with a balcony. The balcony was nice, and had a modern metal blind that blocked out light. Our main issue was the room was a little under par considering the rest of the hotel is so beautiful, and for the price. Really should have some kind of coffee making facilities in the room. We went in February, which was still 22 degrees in the day. The air con was on 'winter mode' so was only set to warm we were told. Our room was pretty hot in the evenings, so we ended up sleeping with the balcony blind half open. Which ended up with us being covered with mosquito bites! But it was just too warm to sleep without it open. The shower was also not great. The shower door wouldn't stay shut. And the water with either boiling hot or freezing cold. So certain parts of the hotel and room were nice, but just a few changes would make it great.

Very nice hotel with clean rooms and good The hotel is part of a chain and the owner buys historic places and turns them into hotels. complimentary breakfast We stayed here before leaving Lisbon and it was perfect for us Location is great but a bit far from a lot of the attractions- yet walkable Note: no elevator- the front desk helped us with the luggage going 3 floors up. I think they are working on building one.

Our stay here was really nice! We arrived late, but there was a late check in option, which had a nice surprise in it as well (how they store the keys) 😉 Enjoyed the breakfast, beds are comfortable, rooms clean, interesting interior in the hotel itselfs, more of an artistic kind which was really nice. Be avare that they have only stairs which is also great 🥰 We got some nice gifts when arriving and when leaving as well. Thank you! Only thing I didn't like that our room window was looking to the street where the tram line is (the famous Tram 28) so it was a bit loud, but I could sleep well. All in all worth staying here! Recommend!!! ❤️

We stayed 2 nights and had a very pleasant experience. Friendly and very professional service, clean and comfortable rooms Great selection for breakfast. The hotel itself is in an old building, and some of the original features have been left by decorators, which makes it look very unique. Decor is very tasful for my taste. We have also had a complimentary bottle of port wine in our room.

Really wonderful stay! The hotel is extremely well situated and connected in a very trendy neighborhood of Lisbon. The breakfast which was included in our stay was fantastic, the beds were very comfy, good A/C, nice bathrooms, and gorgeous common areas. On top of that staff was so accommodating and friendly!! Definitely recommend it! The major drawback I’d say is that balcony rooms were much smaller than non balcony rooms, so I’d recommend a non balcony room!

Wonderful stay for 3 nights with my husband. We were greeted with welcome drinks while we checked in. Staff was super friendly and always checking in to ask how our stay was. Lobby was so lovely to wait during check in or have a cold glass of water which was free Rooms were clean and bed was extremely comfortable. We had a room overlooking the street with a little terrace. Carpets had stains and could use more pillows but everything else was great. Location is superb. 28 tram stops directly infront which is main tram around the city. Lovely local shops and coffee around and just slightly away for the hustle and bustle but just close enough. Breakfast was delicious and nice space to dine. Highly recommend! Just a not no elevators and will need to carry bags up stairs.

The hotel is beautiful and the room was comfortable. Our check-in experience was great, we sat in the lobby and were offered glasses of wine while they prepared everything. The breakfast cafe was also very nicely decorated, only the breakfast itself could have been better. Overall we had a great stay there!

We stayed here for one night after having issues with our Airbnb. The service was remarkable. The receptionist greeted us warmly upon our arrival, offering us beverages (and even a second round). The room could have been a bit refurbished, the paint was peeling and the carpet had a few stains, but we were very comfortable and relaxed. The included breakfast was also delicious. Definitely recommend!

Wow. I have traveled to many wonderful places over the years and this one takes the cake. This is the best hotel I have stayed in, period. We stayed 6 evenings in the best bed we have had the pleasure to lay down, ever. Toiletries were great and replaced regularly. The minibar was also reasonable! The room we stayed in (top floor, terrace) was just right for 2 people - a little small compared to other rooms I stayed in elsewhere but worked for us. The service was exceptional. Staying as many nights as we did, the hotel picked us up from the airport and gave us a chance to sit with a drink in the lobby before checking in. The small touches didn't end there. They held our luggage, gave us recommendations and provided breakfast that was so good, I plan on asking them what brand of coffee they use! We don't know when we will be back in Lisbon but we do know that we will be looking to book this hotel when we do!

Supposed to be a 4-star hotel, but it definitely is not. We stayed for 3 nights and kept the 'do not disturb' sign out for all 3 nights so that they wouldn't spray the room with the repulsive room perfume that we smelled upon entering both the lobby and room. As the perfumy smell wore off in our suite, the smell of smoke and stale cigarettes came through strongly. The carpet looked as if there had been multiple murders and/or food fights -- absolutely filthy in the room and in all the hallways. The walls were crumbling near the doors and in the bathroom. They also have a ridiculous rule about not drinking wine/liquor (or they'll charge a corkage fee) or eating in the rooms. Seems like the overly friendly staff are told to greet each guest like they recognize you and you're their old friend. Some ignored us completely. Off-putting and strange. No air-conditioning in the halls/stairway, so climbing 3 flights of stairs in the October heatwave was a little tough, but we knew there was no elevator. Positives: welcome glasses of wine and pasteis de nata, decent breakfast, very good air-con in the suite, proximity to cafes and/or markets. Negatives: awful smell, appallingly dirty carpet, distance to metro (15-20 minute walk). Would not return or really recommend. Seriously, re-carpet the place with something that hides the stains better!

Hotel is staffed by an AMAZING group of people. They offered us drinks while they checked us in, we’re so kind in helping take our luggage up the stairs of this historic building, and have been so kind answering our many questions throughout our stay. The breakfast is amazing, and the hotel is located within walking distance of some amazing sightseeing locations, restaurants, and delicious coffee shops. HIGHLY recommend!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel - really beautifully curated art. Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast and just a few feet away from the number 28 tram. Couldn't fault it and it smelled delicious too.

Great hotel in the perfect location. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was among the best I ever had. Room was comfortable and clean. Would stay here again!

Great hotel in a beautiful old building. Generous room size with good bathrooms. Proactive and kind staff. Interesting neighborhood with tasty nearby restaurants and cafes. The historic 28 tram stops right out front, so it’s easy (and super fun!) to get across town. Strongly recommend.

I joined my wife here for a company trip and our stay was fantastic, from the staff to the location... all perfect! Bed was super comfortable and the sheets are a super high thread-count. You feel like royalty while in these beds. Breakfast was also good, as well as the large and cozy co-working space that is adjoined to the property. Fresh pastries and coffee while you get your work done. Internet surfing/streaming/downloading is also very fast @ 142mbps Upload and only 10mbps download.

This place is a complete mess In terms of service. Will never book again an i strongly advise not to chose this place. Don’t hesitate to write me for more information. I hope nobody lives the nightmare I am living with this place. I had an urgency and nobody replies to the emails. They answer the phone, promise a feedback both on phone and email and nothing. Since my last call they promise to call back, didn’t. I am calling back and they do not answer. Have called 20 times and left messages in the voicemail. They loss a delivery I was meant to receive there and can’t explain how. More over when I was trying to organise it (I could have handled it differently without any issue, was just asking for a simple service) they did not give any feedback. The attitude is really extremely unprofessional. I have travelled the world in any kind of hotel and I am actually shocked.

Wonderful location, right beside a tram 28 stop. Lovely and helpful staff. Good breakfast and really nice courtyard. LOVE the interior design especially on the main floor. Our room (on the cheaper side, did not include a balcony) was very easy to sleep in with black out curtains and no noise. Only note, no elevator and our room was top floor so some rooms might not be accessible to everyone.

Stayed here for my birthday weekend with my twin brother and family. The rooms are very grand and beautiful and I had a comfortable sleep each night. The breakfast buffet was sufficient in the morning and had a varied selection and this set me up for my day. The staff were very accommodating and super friendly. On our actual birthday they brought myself and my brother birthday cakes, this gesture left us speechless and it’ll be memorable. Caterina was amazing and always had a smile on her face as well as the other staff members. The staff at the hotel are faultless and would always be happy to assist whenever we required help, for example my partner’s dietary requirements were taken care of and we didn’t need to remind them each morning at break, they were so attentive. When we visit again I’ll certainly be staying here again. Thank you Dear Lisbon.

adorable aesthetic, spacious rooms, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, tad difficult to pick out walking by as it blends in with the surrounding businesses, comfortable 15 min walk to the centre of lisbon, but be wary of hills

Lovely hotel! I celebrated my birthday here in 2019 and were very nicely courted by the staff. Good location and clean room. Breakfast was enough but not very wide range of choices.

Nice hotel in ideal location of old town for walking. Staff 5 stars. Carpet in our room could need steam clean or replaced. No elevator so be prepared for stairs. Excellent breakfast included with our stay and welcome drinks provided.

An absolute gem in Lisbon! From check-in to check out, the service we received was incredible. Great service and staff! We stayed in the Superior Room and it's a great size. The bathroom was clean but the only downside is the lack of counter space but it's not the end of the world. We really enjoyed the hotel breakfast. There was quite a variety of items too. Gallery House is located at such a convenient spot. It's close by to many tourist attractions which helped us maximise time. There are also no elevators so be prepared for some stairs especially if you have large luggage. The staff will be more than happy to help you as well but just so you know!

Wonderful hotel. Amazing staff, beautiful bedroom and a nice location. The lounge is also very cozy with fireplace and soft background music. Highly recommended!

You could find a lot better places for that price in Lisabon! Looks well designed, but it's poor executed! The pictures attached speak for them selfs - huge dirty spots on the carpets, disgusting items in the bathroom resting since quite a long time... On top of that we didn't get any additional toilet paper, after we have asked for it, which is even not a 1 star service, but a zero... We have tried to get in touch with the menager , but we didn't get any respond so far - it's been a week since we have checked-out, which is rather disrespectful... The only positive experience we had, were the super nice and friendly ladies that were helping serving the breakfast! So we were in room 204, better avoid it, or better avoid the hotel - there are amazing once in Lisabon, and that's the worst so far.

The hotel’s best feature is its location. Staff is also very friendly and the rooms clean. Beware if you stay in one of the rooms that have direct view access to the trams outside - they are VERY loud and start running early in the morning so you’ll hear them from your bedroom. The breakfast could also be improved, specially the scrambled eggs which were quite bland.

  • 1/5 Renato C. 2 years ago on Google
Photos are completely overrated, place is not nice. Service is bad and there's no chance you can have a quiet night with all the noise. Not recommended!

  • 1/5 Pierre L. 2 years ago on Google
Be careful when you book a non refundable night and your flight has been canceled. It unfortunately happens sometimes and as you're not responsable of it, you normaly can get the cancelation accepted by the hôtel. With them you can't, and they have à dishonest behaviour telling you that you did the cancelation the day after the night which is totaly untrue, they received the information straight away. I therefore only rate what I got, a terrible commercial service.
