This is a great hostel to socialise. The outdoor area with an overview of Lisbon is beautiful, and the hostel is in the heart of everything. I met some very nice people whilst here. The room I was in had no view but was clean and spacious, the lockers were a little awkward as they were drawers under the beds which meant if someone is sleeping, you wake them, accessing your things. The bathrooms are gender separate with no locks on the showers or toilets, which felt slightly strange but I had no issues and felt safe. The kitchen is very small but equipped with everything you need and they have essentials to buy if you are out such as, milk, juice etc. staff are all super friendly and helpful, mega informative and understanding. The price is great for the location and would definitely recommend.

They really really need a/c, a room fan at the bare minimum. Bathrooms and other wise a kept nice and clean. But my God that room was melting hot and no way too cool it down without leaving our doors wide open all night to a basically public terrace.

Everything was great! Very happy with my choice - and what a fantastic scenic view from the terrace! Free coffee/tea was available throughout the day, and the hostel as a whole was clean, cosy and atmospheric.

This is an excellent hostel. The common areas are amazing, and the bathroom and kitchen are always clean and with everything you need. The location is good for exploring during the day, but it can be a trick if you want to enjoy the nightlife, so consider that.

Travelling solo to Lisbon was my new experience, so as sleeping with strangers in the room, but I have to admit nobody snores I had nice bond and laugh with some of my roommates, and staff. They were helpful, friendly and open, with Niko and Eve I had the most time to catch up. Super nice people, the hostel was vibrant and clean and ofcourse tarrace was the winner, unfortunately during winter sun doesn't get there as much but the views were amazing. Breakfast very tasty 😋, thoughtful things in the kitchen like spices, olive oil or ready made coffee was making the breakfast very easy. Atmosphere and people I have met in my 4 days were amazing. Thanku and definitely I be back again soon.!!!

Great location in Alfama, just a few steps from the main city center. Pretty quiet hostel, made new friends while staying here. Clean as well, and friendly staff. Only downside is that there's no privacy curtains but I would still stay here again in the future

Great service and overall good vibes. We stayed in the Saudade private room with our own bathroom, which was very spacious. I'd say the best selling point of the hostel is the terrace overlooking the city, absolutely gorgeous and a great place to have a meal or drink.

A good hostel to stay, i actually had a good nights sleep here. The men’s bathroom did stink but yeah it’s still a hostel so what do you expect. Shame the terrace closed at midnight since it’s has a really nice view. Overall i would recommend

lovely staff, really nice rooms and a beautiful patio area!! i felt very safe and looked after, the staff were excellent - always on hand to give advice and were so friendly. get the €3 breakfast, it’s a lovely way to start the day! the one downside was that our rooms had windows out to the street which got very loud because we were in Alfama on saints days, so if you’re looking for a peaceful sleep around June it may not be the best location. the showers were also cold which was a bit abrasive in the morning, but overall a lovely stay and i will definitely come back!

Pros: - in the older part of town, close to the Castle and lots of restaurants and bakeries - easy to keep bags there before checkin/after checking out - terrace is nice! - staff seems fine, didn’t try to make conversation with us or anything Cons: - EXTREMELY dirty and smelly bathroom!!!! So musty, no cleaning throughout the day / days, no ventilation. Bedrooms were ok (a lot better than bathroom) but no AC - Ubers will NOT pick you up from there (their map doesn’t let them) - no towels or ANY toiletries (you have to bring all your bathroom stuff shampoo/conditioner/soap)

I was so happy to be staying in a « real » hostel, a place that is authentic and friendly. Each person working there is so nice and helpful. Here is what I liked about it: - the wonderful view from the terrace and the terrace itself, so nice! - the atmosphere: laid back and almost family-like (only the good aspects of it) - the beds were really good - everything was clean - the all you can eat breakfast (the cheapest in town): 4 different types of cereal, fruit juices, bread, different jams, butter, coffee and tea… for only 3 €! - the recommendations on the board every morning about what to do during the day and at night Thank you for such a nice stay!

I will suggest this small and cosy hostel to everyone wants to come in Lisbon! I was in a 6 bed room, nice and warm, private locker under the bed, 2 large doorwindows with pass for the terrace and it was amazing, quiet people, polite from all over Europe. You'll make lots of friends too if u wish! I never felt cold in it (winter time), and if you will there are lots of blankets u can use for free. The hostel has a private big terrace, I loved it, amazing panorama as well. Good breakfast, they could cook eggs for you as well. Very friendly staff, the owner a very beautiful person. The hostel is located very close to the Castel in Alfama, so if you are example Martim Moniz, you need to get some stairs (almost 300) to get there, but you can trust me, it will worth it for sure ;) otherwise you could catch a tram or elettric scooter. The location is amazing, I'll come back here for sure! Muito Obrigado guys! Ciaooo

This has been my favorite hostel so far! The staff (Anastasia, Valeria, and a Colombian guy) were really kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. My favorite part was the view of the terrace, which is almost as good as the ones from the nearby miradouros. One of the highlights of my stay in Lisbon was drinking a glass of wine at this terrace and meeting other travelers. I truly recommend this hostel!

Amazing hostel and super helpfull staff :) You can get breakfast for 3 euros and free coffee/tea. Ladies bathroom is very clean. In the room you have enough space to storage your luggage, bed is very comfy + every bad has it's own outlet. Breathtaking view from terrance and you're 7min walk from city centre. You can leave your luggage in storage after check out. My biggest recommendation and I wish all hostels are like this ❤️

Really friendly staff and guests. Great spaces to hang out, especially on the terrace with a seriously great view (plus less covid concern being outside!). Very quiet at night - they enforce the nighttime quiet hours, which I really appreciate. People just took the party out into downtown!

Nice hostel, super friendly hosts they have some private rooms for a good price, all bathrooms are shared, they’re clean, just pretty tight. Beautiful view of the city. Some taxis and busses refuse to drive up this road so you may have to go up and down the cobblestone with your bags!

It’s a amazing place, you can meet people, know activities to do in Lisbon, the receptionists are funny, friendly and open to give you advice about places or activities, there’s a terrace that can be consider as one of the more beautiful panoramic point of the city; it’s closed to the castle but really closed to the center too. Also the breakfast was very good! Everything was perfect! I fall in love going to this hostel!

Dirty, noisy, smelly, uncomfortable and unfriendly staff. Just a nice view. · I planned to stay 4 nights, at the end, I left after the first night and even lost all the money because : - The room and toilets were dirty and no places to put your stuff (very narrow room) - The bunkbed was really uncomfortable (if one person moves, it shakes the whole bed) - It was mega noisy, the walls are thin like paper - The room smelled very strongly geranium essential oil or something - Only 2 shared toilets for at least 15 girls and nowhere to put your stuff - The bathroom and shower were dirty - I got bitten at night by maybe bedbugs!! - After one night, I told the staff I wanted to leave. He didn’t even ask me the reason!

Wonderful, great value hostel in Lisbon. The twin rooms that open up to the terrace are exceptional! Common spaces are clean and the guests are very respectful. Staff do a great job of explaining norms and helping you feel at home. Note that there is some uphill walking, even if you catch the Castelo elevator next to the Pingo Doce. But if you're fit (a MUST in Lisbon), the reward is a wonderful stay in a scenic and quiet neighborhood, close to the main sights.

Wonderful staff, excellent view, great location! Last minute changes in plans had me landing in Lisbon on a 12 hour layover just before midnight with no place to stay. I called in, and the woman operating the desk reserved their last bed for me until I could get there, even talking me through how best to get there. I found myself wishing I could actually have stayed there longer to make full use of the breakfast, bar communal atmosphere, and convenient location. As it stands, I enjoyed a new peaceful moments with the excellent view of the city from the sizable terrace, and I caught the sunrise at the Miradouro das Portas do Sol, a top-recommended sunrise location only about a 10-minute walk from the hostel. Just what I needed and more. Will definitely be looking to return.

The location is amazing near the Castelo Sao Jorge, we could do a lot by foot. The staff is caring and makes you feel welcome! The shared bathroom and dorm were very clean. And last but not least, the terrace with the view over Lisbon can be enjoyed even on a sunny morning in December. We felt at home!

One of the best hostel I've ever been to. If you plan to have solo trip to Lisbon. This is the best place where you can meet new people and enjoy your times together. PS: The place is also nice for seeing the sunset.

The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. It is generally pretty clean, but beware the men’s bathroom stalls don’t have locks on them. The patio has a very great view and the location is a 5 minute walk from all the main squares in Lisboa, but still very quiet away from all the chaos of the city. Definitely not a party hostel.

I chose this hostel because of its fantastic location in one of my favorite historic neighborhoods of Lisbon plus its 24-hr reception. On those counts, it did not disappoint. An already late arrival was made even later by a 1 hour flight delay, and I finally arrived at 1am. Their instructions for finding the place after hours were very helpful, and the staff on duty buzzed me in immediately & showed me to my room -- much appreciated. (Many thanks to my dorm mates as well, who took my late arrival in stride.) Just be aware that this is a very basic, old-school hostel with dorm and bathroom facilities on the lower end of basic. Don't come here expecting a sturdy bunk with privacy curtains, individual power point for charging your devices or a personal reading light, as is becoming increasingly common around the world, because you won't find it here. One of the toilet stalls in the women's bathroom was missing a latch, and the whole bathroom floor was wet in the morning (though I can't say whether that was due to a design flaw or inconsiderate guests). For these reasons, I can’t rate it any higher than three stars, though it does indeed have a spectacular terrace as advertised.

I had booked for just two nights but the people were so great that I decided to stay for three more nights. It felt like being home. Amazing staff. This hostel is a kind of gathering point for really cool people. The dorms are nice and the terrace is great with a wonderful view. Super recommended!

Absolutely beautiful. I booked here to have a view of Lisbon and a place to be able to work remote. It was incredible, the view and the stay. You have quite a climb up to get here, but hey like they say the view is phenomenal. Wifi is excellent, staff very helpful and chill. Great precaution on covid, there was no problem at all. I miss this place already

Definitely THE coolest hostel I've been to so far! The staff is super welcoming :) The Pros: - 24/7 reception (so it always feels safe); - Decoration, - Terrace, - The view from the terrace, - The location - The common rooms.... The cons: Can't think of any ^^

  • 5/5 Adam P. 2 years ago on Google
Stunning view from the roof terrace, where you'll spend most of your time. Clean and relatively spacious rooms. But mainly - authentic atmosphere of a lovely old building and wonderful staff (including owner), whom you'll meet and talk to regularly. Street noise gets loud in the rooms, though didn't bother me much. Thank you for a really great stay. It's on a hill, that's how you're getting the view. Plan accordingly and use the street elevators (Lisbon has those) or just be ready to hike it up if coming back later at night - it's worth it!

I spent almost a week in this lovely hostel. Staff was helpful, rooms and kitchen where clean and fully equipped, location was perfect with the best view of the city. What else can you ask for? And on top of everything- the price is very good! this is a 10/10 hostel!

It's an average hostel. Rooms and beds are very basic, halls are really tight. The balcony with a view is a plus though. Why I would never come back: One day we came back from the city at around 5 pm and the receptionist informed us he had to relocate one person of our group to another bed (?), so without asking they had taken out the luggage of the locker and left it out in the open in the room. Not customer-friendly at all.

As Leonardo said if you like so much this place you forget to make review of this place. And partial he had right. It took me 2 months to write how super cool is this place with kind and helpful stuff with passion. And this breakfasts, made by Leonardo! For me stay was 10 of 5 stars! Definitely I'll be back.

I had a great stay at the hostel for three nights where I met lots of different people working there who were all very friendly and helpsome. I stayed in the twin room with exit to the terrific terrace. The price for the room was also great and the place was clean. I think the place has seen its better days, but all in all a recommended place to stay.

What can I say?! Stuff ist zu 95% super zuvorkommend, empathisch und on point. Aussicht ist brilliant. Lage ist friedlich. No Venice 2.0 tourist bashing. Frühstück 3€- are u joking? It's great. Mixed rooms could get a problem, not here. It's working in a respectable way.I like. There are cupboards for safety things plus extra in the rooms but to small for big luggage. This was a problem (stayed 8 nights). Independent of this, a good place to be😉. The terrace is also a big plus, a place to meet international people with good humour and manners. I'll be back, baby.

Visited mid March. Beautiful, classic Lisbon building decorated simply but charming and cosy. Extremely clean throughout. Cute little kitchen with everything needed for self catering and also lots of shared bits for cooking and drinking. My favourite but was the rooftop terrace with views over the city. Sadly it was quite rainy when we visited so the rooftop yoga wasn't on but staff were helpful and friendly and there was a daily list of what was going on. Would definitely go back!

Amazing hostel- really cozy, extremely nice staff. Paola and Leonardo welcomed me in and were super friendly. Answered all my questions and inquiries. Leonardo and Suzzana even helped me out with some idea where to find internship in Lisbon. It felt like home. It was extremely silent stay (not a fan of party hostels), amazing terrace and cold beers <3. Also, add the breakfast- it's totally worth it! Will stay again!

Disgraceful customer service. Rude and unhelpful! Edited after response - Yes I have never stayed with you guys because when I tried I had the rudest and most unhelpful customer service I have seen in a hostel for a long time. I will sure not stay with you guys.... ever. You need to review your concept of friendly And edited once again: It was not full, you guys are so bad that you are trying to make an excuse without even caring about what happened. As I said, there was room and I chose not to stay due to an awful customer service. Just accept it and try to make it better instead of creating theories

I had a quick one night stay at This is Lisbon Hostel, but I would stay here again next time I visit Lisbon! It has a central location in such a beautiful part of town and walking distance to main attractions, and restaurants. The view from the huge patio is absolutely breathtaking and may be the best part! I travelled solo, and this hostel had a very welcoming and easy going atmosphere.

It was one of the best hostels I've ever been to - because of the warm hearted staff! They've been amazing! The hostel has one of the best views, breakfast for 3 Euros (including an egg which will be prepared extra for you), and you'll always have someone talking to. I loved my stay here!

Perfect for one night. Solo traveler. Room overlooked all the rooftops in Lisbon and I was not disappointed! You can walk everywhere from here. Immediate distance from food, shopping, and sites. The only thing is the beds don't have curtains so there is minimal privacy. Rooms and bathrooms were super clean. I would stay again. Sebastian was amazing upon checkin! Very helpful, very kind.
