this was an experience.... the staff is really nice and friendly and the breakfast was good. but the rooms are kinda terrible, they're way too warm and not very clean or inviting. the bathroom of the dormitory was also very dirty all of the time, to the point where I decided I'd go to the bathroom on the public one over going to the one assigned to my room. if you're desperate (or it's free, or u don't mind navigating old dirt) do it, but otherwise don't. also it's really, and I can't stress this enough, not central.

Being completely honest, my first impressions of Hi Lisboa were terrible. The staff isn’t allowing anyone to go out, they do not allow you to have alcohol beverages inside the premises, you can’t leave you room between 10 to 12am, and cherry on the cake… the staff comes hammering your door every morning at 9am to serve you a very poor breakfast. All together it did reminded me of a prison. However, call it Stockholm syndrome or not, but after a few days you start to appreciate the good parts of it. Meals aren’t exactly « gastronomic » but at least they are hot, the staff takes cleaning very seriously (they even went to the extent of using non reusable plastic bins), you get 4 hours of sun every day, and finally towards the end of our stay we even got to talk with someone of the staff. Will I ever come back? No. Would I recommend it to someone? Never. But at least I can say that we haven’t suffered any physical violence. Ps: I think the staff should give up the « breaking bad » costume theme, as it did make me feel alienated over time.

6 days before arrival at the hostel, I paid and reserved a place with a "special need". I asked to reserve the bottom bunk bed I'm 61 years old and got confirmation of my request. Upon arrival, they gave me the top shelf and said that it was impossible to satisfy my request now. In addition, in the 6-bed room there are 2 sockets for charging mobile devices, the women's toilet is located on the 1st and 5th floors, all the other 4 floors have men's toilets, why is that? and the question is - how to be at night on the 3rd floor when the elevator is not working at this time? The room has wardrobes, but no locks, although it is declared in the services. One good thing about this place is a convenient location in the city center, not far from the metro station on the yellow line. But, be prepared for surprises in this hostel!

This was easily the worst place where I have ever stayed. I knew I wasn't booking a 5-star hotel, but there is a minimum that one should be able to expect even when the accommodation is cheap. Unfortunately, this hostel was my worst nightmare come true: everything was very old and, worst of all, filthy! The rooms were not properly cleaned, an entire floor even had to get shut down because there was an infestation and people were being bitten by bed bugs. And the bathroom was a complete disaster: dirty water on the floor on the entire surface, urine everywhere... This place represents a risk for public health! For your own sake, look for an alternative place to stay! I wish I was aware of this before booking this place.

Not amazing but good place. If it's dirty it's clearly not because of the cleaning staff but because of disrespectful people ! Breakfast is good for the price. Bed is OK BUT we really need more electric plugs ... and sometimes lights are broken

First off, the staff were amazing. From check in to cleaners, they were always friendly and helpful. The room/ beds were fine. It was quiet. Plenty of breakfast. The later than usual checkout time was appreciated. But the bathrooms seemed to have been built for children, I accidentally made eye contact with the person showering 2 stalls down from me (and I'm not tall). It was awkward. The bathrooms also weren't visibly cleaned in the 3 days I used them. The floor was constantly wet and muddy from shower flooding/ shoes.

I stayed for 4 nights. It's wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. If you keep in mind that this is a youth hostel with cheap rooms and take it for what it is, it's alright. My room was generally clean but had some spots of mold around the heater and in the shower. It's nice that the breakfast is included, which was, again, alright. Not the greatest but also not bad. This hostel is good for staying a few nights on a tight budget, but I wouldn't recommend for longer stays.

I loved this place. 15 min walking to the city center and historical monument, less than 200 meters from metro Station, bakery and mini market by the corne, Super clean, great breakfast. Superb.

Well connected to public transport (metro and buses). Supermarkets, restaurants and cafés nearby. Rooms are small, but convenient. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The bathroom was sometimes a little dirty, but I think that was also due to a school class residing there for the time I stayed there. Definitely coming back and/or highly recommended for solo travellers!

Hi! I booked this hostel using Hostelworld, the bad thing is they cancelled my reservation saying just "technical issues". Thena, not anserwing the phone and not the email. Not helping me to get my deposit refund, not helping me getting a new place to stay, no nothing. I can not rate them in Hostelword because they cancelled me, funny thing...

I worried about the reviews but i had a nice stay. Double room was clean, breakfast is ok and staff is kind. in 4 days stays, they cleaned room twice. Area is near to all metro lines. They need to paid the room with more vibrant colours and change check in time. 6 is far too late for someone travelling with a morning flight.

Very beautiful place to get a coffee in the morning on the river of Tejo near the 25 April's bridge. Shared rooms but service in general is ok Only thing the location is accessible only by bus and cars not very strategic the rest is interesting for those who are looking for a beautiful site and relax

Only 1-2 plug inside the room, so have to sit in common room to use, even common room has a few plug, inconvenient, also shower has no door, only curtains, and no place to put bag, breakfast is okay though

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war zwar gut, jedoch stellte sich ein Problem mit dem fehlenden Fenstergriff heraus, was zu erheblicher nächtlicher Lärmbelästigung führte. Im Zimmer sind zwar drei Steckdosen vorhanden, aber es besteht noch Raum für Verbesserungen

The place is fair in terms of price-quality, I won’t stay more that 2 nights. It is good for sleep when you have a early flight and you don’t want to pay a lot in accommodation just for few hours. It is relatively well located. Doesn’t common areas and the cleaning of the bathroom can be improved. The receptionist Tialo ( or something like that) was helpless, slow always in his phone, he only gave me my breakfast to go when I said I will put a bad review In general recommended if not any other option. I won’t comeback for sure!

The place is very strategic, located in the centre area of Lisbon. Breakfast is complimentary. Room will be cleaned after 12. There are also towels, blankets and soap. However, it is quite noisy at night. Thank you

They are THIEVES! They cancelled my reservation on very short notice and did never refund me! I have contacted them numerous times. First they said that I have to be patient and then they ignored me! Worst hostel experience ever.

Although in slightly old building, the conditions are good, the rooms are clean and have all the necessary amenities. The staff is very polite and attentive. It is located really close to the Picoas underground station.

I found and killed 2 bed bugs immediately when laying in the bed. That night I couldn't sleep because of fearing the bed bugs. The hostel though know about it hasn't taken any step to correct or improve the situation. The room only has 1 charger.

After excruciating experience at Joao XXI hostel we found this haven and for 13 euros or so (breakfast included) it was a good spot for one night sleep. 4 bed dorm was quite simple equipped but clean, with fine bathroom and sufficient for our needs (just sleep). Breakfast was good and stuff helpful. So if you are not demanding or too picky and you're looking for a place just to lay your head, it's a solid choice.

Bad organization. Rooms way too small. Breakfast is good. There's no room to enjoy with your friends. No electricity in some facilities.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this hostel, it’s very noisy at night, teenagers make noise. There is mold in the shower and the bathroom is not clean. I found hair in the beds... The breakfast wasn’t good either. Overall, unfortunately, not clean and it was not a pleasant stay for me.

Super ! Very polite people. Everything prepared for guests. Towels for free. Bedding clean and fresh. Toilets clean, number of showers. Room access with card - professional! Free luggage store for whole day. Breakfast included in night stay. Service helpfull and with smile on their face. Hostel just few steps from metro station. 5 minutes to city center, 10 to old town.

If you need a basic bed and a good breakfast at a good price, you can't go wrong. But don't expect anything fancy

This place is okay. I know a hostel can’t chose the people who stay here, but a big group came in at 3am, making loud noise, and moving all over. Also snoring. Another complaint is this place is dirty, and the beds are not assigned, just hope it’s empty I guess 🙄. Wi-Fi also does not work half the time

To be very honest, the place is dirty, staff is rude and unprofessional. Showers are not working or broken. The lift was broken as well. The walls to the ceiling is dirty and full of marks. I do not recommend this place at all.
