Probably one of the greatest hotel experiences ever. The staff are simply amazing from the front desk, bell captain to all the restaurant and bar staff. A welcoming, authentic atmosphere, competence and dedication to the house and guests. The rooftop terrace offers spectacular views of the city and so does the restaurant and bar on the fifth floor, which is also where breakfast is served. The breakfast menu includes a variety of delicacies that are all freshly prepared to order, including freshly made juices. The state-of-the-art rooms are perfectly clean with very comfortable beds. Do take your time especially for long breakfasts on the terrace and their tasty bar snacks including fresh Tuna, local mussels etc. during sunset!

This really is a lovely, comfortable, charming boutique hotel. It is centrally located with many public transit options right outside the door. The rooms are of course not huge but they are very comfortable and include everything you need. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! There are wonderful views from the Terrace and Rooftop cafe/restaurants! They serve an excellent breakfast. And the in-house pastry shoppe is WONDERFUL. (of particular interest for fellow American coffee lovers, they know how to make a terrific iced coffee!) I won't say their pastries are better than what you'll find outside but they are at least as good! Mmmm There are sites to see in all directions by either a (often hilly) walk, or a tram ride or open air cab ride. Obviously, this is not a bargain choice but if you want and can splurge, this hotel is worth it! I hope I can return soon.

They definitely earn the 5 star rating. Very impressive hotel and location. They left us little gifts like a book mark or glasses wipes and bottles of wine and fruit. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are spacious and lovely, the service from every staff member is unparalleled, the location provides quick walking access to all of Lisbon, and the restaurant serves some of the most delicious meals in the city. There is a rooftop with incredible views of the Tagus river for happy hour drinks and light snacks. This hotel is must-stay if you’re traveling to Lisbon. There was a selection issue with late-night room service, and the João Silva came to apologize the next morning at breakfast. He offered to reserve food we selected from the dinner menu and prepare it for us after hours. This was INCREDIBLE hospitality!

The Bairro Alto belongs to the Leading Hotels of the World. And it truly deserves this. Friendly people serving you with passion. An interior Designer who knew what to do. A breathtaking view from the rooftop bar. We love this place.

Absolutely wonderful, stayed here fall 2022. Excellent location, lovely property, wonderful staff. My husband still talks about the omelette on their included breakfast! Cannot recommend highly enough.

What a great hotel. Can't say enough about the staff. They were super-friendly and helpful! Will definitely stay here again. Check out the roof decks with spectacular views and delicious snacks and drinks. I must mention Sarah in their Wellness/Massage area, she has magical hands and energy that rejuvenated me. All of the staff was wonderful.

This very low rating is only because of the arrogant attitude João F., one of the front desk workers had with a supplier today. He refused to collaborate claiming "hotel rules" due to his stubbornness. Only when João F. left the front desk, was our supplier able to get the same request attended by the other front desk workers who were lovely: Rute and Cláudia. I hope the management has a word with João F. to not mistreat suppliers just because they aren't guests at the hotel. His rude attitude didn't improve the guests' quality. He should learn with Rute and Cláudia how to be nice to everyone regardless of their roles.

It’s a great location in Lisbon. It’s a small, cozy hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the 5th floor terrace is superb, the views and ambience stunning. Although like any 5 star hotel in a European capital, it’s rather pricey. The greatest plus for this hotel is the outstanding staff, from reception through to the breakfast service. Their care truly adds to the experience.

Stop 3 of 4 on our Honeymoon, and it was a perfect transition into Portugal. Lisbon has a lot to offer and this hotel share's it all. My wife's a world traveler and said their restaurant upstairs was the best she's ever had. Rooftop bar was also spot on after a long day of walking around town...great vibes. Loved their breakfast too! Conveniently located downtown with top notch services.

Bairro Alto is potentially one of the best hotels in Lisbon. Amazing benefit of the hotel is their breakfast/dinner on the terrace with a spectacular view. The experience left us thoroughly impressed. The service was also top-notch, with the staff being friendly and attentive. They made sure we had everything we needed, adding a warm touch to the whole experience.

Spent 4 nights in this incredible hotel. Friendly and attentive staff, amazing service and great location are a few highlights. Really looked forward to the daily breakfast in the 5th floor dining room which was always served with great care and attention. Coming back to the room every day to find a selection of treats after exploring Lisbon was a real highlight and made us feel welcome and valued as guests. Looking forward to returning to this wonderful hotel in an amazing city.

Loved our stay here. From top to bottom truly a 5 star experience. Brunch looking out over Lisboa was next level. The service and friendliness of everyone was second to none. Bonus is le labo bath products. We can’t wait to come back to stay here again.

Our last day in Lisbon, and I decided to have breakfast at the hotel. On all my trips, i always choose one hotel to have breakfast at. We were not staying at this hotel but I had read about the restaurant on the 5th floor with the outdoor terrace. The view from the terrace is lovely and the staff are attentive and friendly. My husband ordered the overnight oats which he said were good. Although, he did say he was 66disappointed in the portion size, in comparison to other breakfast places we had eaten in Lisbon. I ordered the Turkish eggs and when taking my order the staff member did ask how I would like my eggs. I replied medium. The eggs were perfect, my only criticism is that the eggs are served with 2 tiny pieces of delicious bread. I would have liked to have seen at least 4 pieces to balance out the dish. I then ordered the granola yogurt with red berries. Overall, good quality yogurt and granola but the presentation of this dish needs improving and maybe slightly more granola and berries. The granola itself was a good texture and not so sweet or artifical tasting. A nice way to end our trip in Lisbon chilling and having breakfast with a view. Whether it's value for money is subjective. The cost was 42 euros.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Barrio Alto. The hotel staff was very professsional and extremely helpful (especially Ruth at the front desk) in recommending some great resturants and also securing reservations for us during our stay. Our rooms were very comfortable and well appointed and it was fun to see what what surprise would be left in your room during turndown service. The hotel itself was in the perfect spot to get around the city and the view from the rooftop resturant was fantastic. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and the waitstaff extremely attentive to your needs. My family and I had a wonderful experience at your beautiful hotel. Hope to be back and will for sure recommend the Barrio as the perfect place to stay in Lisbon.

We love going to the rooftop bar of this hotel. The city view is one of the most beautiful, and the service and drinks are wonderful

Location is good but room is small for its price, small gym and weird constructions on each floor. Tried to visit rooftop but couldn’t open the door… 🥲

I went there just for breakfast. It’s a la carte system and you can order whatever you want. Staff was super attentive and helped with suggestions. Food was delicious. It has a great view from the city although the weather conditions were terrible when I was there so I couldn’t see much. My breakfast was 20 euro which can be considered pricey for Lisbon standards, but it’s worth it for the experience if you want a quiet and welcoming place to go to start your day in the right mood.

This hotel is located at the heart of Lisbon. There are lots of things to see within walking distance. There are performers playing music on the weekend right across from the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel rooftop restaurant (Barha) is fantastic. The veiw is beautiful, the food is great. It makes your day so much better after having their detox juice and cappuccino.

When is Lisbon I do not think of a better place to stay than here- this boutique charming Five star properties has the best location and best team. I tried to book many rooms and it was a bit difficult to start, but the tortilla was flipped and they left me with the WOW factor by their service. Big shout out to Miguel at the Front desk who helped us with a seamless check in and check out- that is because Carla from the Reservations team had LOTS of patience dealing with many changes and many request- she also was so sweet and welcomed me - that made me feel special ! Katherine also at front desk was just super friendly and helpful- Paulo helped us with the many transportation services at Concierge desk and Guillherme at the restaurant was super friendly and just understand service to the MAX- lastly Gonçalo- your BIG smile everywhere, willing to help any second YOU ROCK! thank you all for making our stay special! HIGHLY recommended.

Our flights to Lisbon were cancelled day of due to a Lufthansa airline strike. We immediately called the hotel to cancel our reservation and missed the cancellation deadline by less than ONE hour. Given the circumstances, we hoped for some flexibility or understanding from the hotel, especially considering the situation was out of our control. It was disheartening to find that they were unwilling to work with us or cancel the second day. This experience has left us incredibly disappointed with the overall service provided, and now will no longer recommend this hotel to others.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 night with my family and felt really sad leaving it. I must thank every single person who we interacted with.. very sweet and professional and helpful. Hotel was recently being refurbished and they really did an amazing job. The rooms were clean and taken care of small little details that shows how much each person means to them. They left us some bookmarks because we had our books in the room.. they left me a small piece of glass cloth because I had my reading glasses on the table near my bed. Such a great team .. very happy I experienced it and I will definitely go back one day for this beautiful hotel and city.

An amazing 5 star in Lisbon. It is fully renovated, with very nice and comfortable rooms. A nice sauna to rest in the afternoon. Amazing room service and a great restaurant where you can enjoy one of the best rooftop views in Lisbon. The food is excellent and at the right level for a 5 star, the quality / price ratio is definitely great! A special thank to all the staff, from the concierge service, the breakfast to the restaurant team. They play a great role in improving your holidays.

Lovely brunch on the terrace, impeccable service The brunch menu lasts most of the day and has breakfast options (egg, oatsnetc) but some main courses like fish and steak are still available. We had a lovely time. It's expensive, but worth it as a treat

Wonderful luxury hotel in the centre of Lisbon. Cozy and quaint atmosphere. Spacious guestrooms. Dont miss the restaurant and Bar with the rooftop terrace. Amazing view and a wonderful place to relax. Food and drinks are fantastic. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get.

A well-situated and comfortable hotel. Exceptionally good service, with friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. A roof terrace restaurant with wonderful views over the city and the river. Only downside was excessively complicated systems for turning on lights in room and for summoning the elevator, which seemed to defeat most guests.

I had an absolutely amazing time staying here. I stayed in the single room and the room was beautifully designed and spotless. The breakfast which is included was fantastic, for they have so many options. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to Lisbon!

It is in an old building, but the interior decor is so well done you would not notice any age at all. Their balcony restaurant serves the most wonderful breakfast with four kinds of sourdough bread and restaurant made butter. The balcony view is so wonderful but do reserve your table otherwise you will have to sit inside. Lunch and dinner meals are also very good.

Beautiful hotel in probably the most central location in Lisbon. A 10-15 minute walk from anything you could want to see. We stayed in the standard queen room (classic chiado) and it was beautiful, luxurious, and spotless. The rooftop bar alone is a reason to book this hotel, it has one of the best views in the city and we ended up getting drinks there every night to watch the sunset. Dinner was just ok and a bit pricey, but breakfast was delicious, again with beautiful views on a terrace below the rooftop bar.

Best service I’ve ever experienced, from the minute i walked in the front doors. If you want to feel like royalty, this is the place to stay. Restaurants, night life, cafes and stores were all at the front door. Best management ever.

Hotel Bairro Alto is 5 stars all the way from the moment you are greeted at the door to until you leave. The entire staff was wonderful. Best massage ever from Renaldo. Beautifully appointed rooms and stunning views from the rooftop restaurants, where the food was amazing. Breakfast included, order exactly what you'd like from the menu. Perfectly located in downtown Lisbon, step out the door into the heat of the city, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again. Well done!

Stayed here pre-Covid and it was amazing well let's face it all of Lisbon is amazing! My room was on one of the top floors with a gabled window and it was beautiful. Highly recommend the bar in the hotel with the view out over the city and the river. Great hotel and location.

A very nice & modern hotel with a great location for the area but rather pricey.... biggest grumble was a compulsory £120/head for Christmas Eve dinner meal. This was poor value as no refund available even if you didn't consume the full amount. On a plus note, a thoughtful gift for younger guest.

  • 5/5 Alexis C. 1 year ago on Google
This is definitely one of the best locations in Lisbon and definitely is a standard setter when it comes to service and quality. After a horrible experience at Terraço Editorial we made our way to this location that is a true gem in the crown of Portugal. All members of staff of the hotel and rooftop terrace are extremely kind and attentive. The cocktails served well and made with fine ingredients and balance. The view is breathtaking and the whole experience worth the visit.

The Bairro Alto Hotel is certainly well located within way walking distance of most of the major sites in Lisbon. Hotel staff were attentive, prompt and professional. The site was well designed with excellent materials and decor. The restaurant offered a simple but pleasant breakfast menu and a very high-end dinner service. We didn't order room service but it was available. Only minor points to note - the lighting and motorized drapery were not intuitive, and there could have been better placement of outlets/ports for charging devices. It should be noted that some rooms were located in parts of the building that required stairs to access for this with mobility issues.

I just got back from an amazing girls trip in Lisbon where we stayed 5 days at the Barrio Alto. The staff is absolutely wonderful, they are accommodating, professional and just some of the nicest people I have ever met. The rooms were beautiful and have everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. They were very clean, the beds were super comfortable and the space was great for two people. The breakfast every morning on the terrace was delicious, the pumpkin jam with toast and porridge were my favorite. The fresh juices and delicious coffee were a great way to start your day. The location of the hotel is perfect. You are pretty much in the center of town and can walk to many places easily. The concierge as well as the front desk staff are great about giving out suggestions of places to eat, every place they suggested was a hit. We absolutely loved our stay in Lisbon and I know the staff at the Barrio Alto hotel were a big part of that. I cannot wait to come back.
