This is not a 5 star hotel. My partner and I just came from a 5 star hotel in Porto and expected the same level of service but it’s just not there. This is more like a mediocre 4 star hotel with 5 star prices. Everything about it feels cheap. We were told we had breakfast included then when we arrived we were told we had to pay 40 euros. The hotel desk told us we had it, so we’re very confused. Ended up paying 40 euros for a really bad buffet. I would recommend somewhere nicer, maybe Tivoli hotel.

we are a family that goes to a destination every month. This month it was Portugal. I stayed 3 days in Porto, rented a car and came to Lisbon for another 3 days, at your hotel where I had an extremely unpleasant experience the evening I arrived, that is 03.07; I had made a reservation for a superior room, I received a normal room on the corner; I entered the room and noticed that it was very cold and I went down to the reception and told them that the air conditioning in the room does not heat, but remains at 19 degrees; the lady at the reception (brunette and old) told us to go back to the room and wait for someone to come and look at the air conditioning; after 30 minutes (time during which I did not unpack the luggage) a gentleman came and said that it was broken and that he could not fix it. We went to the reception again and the lady sent us back to the room and said that another gentleman will come to look at the air conditioner, to wait, that he will fix it. After another 30 minutes someone came, said that he fixed it and to wait 15-20 minutes so that it will be warm in the room. After another 30 minutes, the hot air didn't work and I went to the same lady again, telling her to give us another room. He refused, saying that he didn't have any, that the hotel was full, as I always saw guests staying. I dropped off our luggage at the reception and told the lady that we want to go to another hotel and that she should send us the money back. Seeing that we were very upset, another lady from the reception intervened, who immediately found us a very good, warm room and we finally checked in at 9 in the evening, after 3 hours. I think that this lady has no business at the reception, it's a shame for your hotel. This lady knew that we came by car, we also paid for parking, but she didn't give us a card to enter and leave the parking lot, so every time we took it, there was a problem with the barrier. Tonight, a nice lady at the reception gave us a card for parking. Your hotel is beautiful, well located, but with such a reception you will lose many customers. We will post this review on booking and on the hotel website. We are the guests of room 521.

This a lovely hotel and staff provide an excellent, personal approach. The rooms are very comfortable and generous in size, with some 'at home' touches. I thought it was good value for money for the level of hospitality received. They do pay strict attention to hygiene safety in public places, but always did this as a reminder, rather than being harsh about it.

We stayed for 3 nights and would highly recommend for it's great location in the heart of the city. Staff really friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are very clean with a comfortable bed although due a refresh. The bathroom is luxurious and clean and especially terrific shower! We had breakfast and there was a full buffet with ample choice although the buffet hot food was not kept hot enough. I recommend ordering eggs etc off the menu to get them hot. All in all I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel and would come back again.

Absolutely beyond my expectations, the room very clean, the breakfast looking at the pool, champagne, spa, tennis court all very elegant.

Nice but overpriced 3 star hotel Definitively not 5 star ! I have never seen a 5 star hotel with dirty old carpet on the hallway , plus not working equipment like tv, internet, or as simple like scale in the bathroom.

A very pleasant stay at this hotel. One of the rooms had an issue and the management upgraded my son into a suite. The breakfast are is super rich with a large variety of salt and sweet food. Sophie was amazing as the hostess. The rooftop is quite relaxing with the jacuzzi. The underground swimming pool with the large windows makes you feel outside. It was a try Ely memorable experience as a family vacation spot.

I have stayed at PortoBay for several nights and have mixed feelings. Lets start with the pros: 1) Location is amazing, you can walk pretty much everywhere while still being on a relatively quiet street 2) The service, for the most part, is great; friendly and efficient staff, the bar & restaurant never disappointed. 3) The Breakfast is fantastic; with great variety of options to chose from On the negative side of things: 1) Room cleanliness was a bit questionable, on the surface -everything looked clean first but as you look closer (under the bed or bathroom) its becoming evident not a great job was done. I was honestly expecting more from a 5 star luxury hotel. 2) Street noise isolation is not great. I was on the lower floors with windows facing the street and was awaken every night by the cleaning crews and maintenance work on the street level. Again, was expecting more from a 5 star luxury hotel. Overall a positive experience but the 2 cons were pretty noticeable.

A magnificent hotel, nestled in the heart of Lisbon right off the world-famous Avenida da Liberdade. Exquisite shopping, dining, scenery, and an overall high-end feel to the whole Liberdade area is a treasure in itself. Everything is easily walkable and a flat terrain. The hotel is luxurious and committed to a high standard of service. The rooms are cozy and adequately equipped with all the amenities a traveler would require. The rooms are very quiet and super comfortable, we had a great nights sleep. The restaurant is top-notch food, amazing ambiance, and perfect service. We had one of the best morning buffets, where we had a broad selection of everything breakfast and then some. The food was of the highest quality, and you could virtually make what ever breakfast your heart desires from the massive buffet assortments. The overall beauty of the hotel interior and exterior makes the stay a spectacular experience. Tasteful luxury at its finest. Underground parking was easy and very convenient, with direct access to the hotel via elevator. We left our car in the garage and walked to most destinations.

This Hotel didn’t reach our expectations at all. We thought, we would come to a five star hotel but it’s not more than 4 stars worth. The interior is old, not stylish at all and not cozy or comfortable. The rooms have high ceilings which I liked but that’s it. The biggest mistake was, to book the breakfast because this was made without any love. It was like in a cantina at my university but had nothing to do with a 5 STAR hotel. If you enjoy a special stylish 5 star hotel, don’t go there.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff (the front of house to the cleaning team), amazing spa, brilliant location. Superb stay and would come back again. 5* for a reason. Absolutely loved it. Thank you

What a great experience !! Was a shame that the roof terrace was closed due to the rain, and I did miss nata on the breakfast buffet.. but really loved my stay .. such a great team of warm friendly staff. Looking forward to next time already.

Seriously the best hotel experience I’ve had in my life. Staff was awesome, location you can’t beat. Everything was perfect. Not to mention the sauna, probably best hotel spa for guests we’ve experienced

Overall had a great stay! The rooms were clean, location was great and quiet. Room service very tasty. Outstanding service by Andrea and Carlotta at Guest Relations, as well as Rui. One very rude gentleman at reception, but will not let him ruin the overall experience we had.

Fabulous service. Great breakfast. Nice gym, with excellent and new equipment (tecnogym). Fab rooftop for sun, drinks and dining. Not a big hotel, which I love. Great location, central, but not in the middel of chaos. Live it! Spa is lovely 😍

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff was extremely attentive and welcoming. There was always someone available to help us. The breakfast was wonderful with a wide array of items. It's the largest selection that I have ever seen in a breakfast buffet. (I saw someone complain that there weren't pancakes-- really???) The rooms were large and the beds/pillows were extremely comfortable. I used the heated pool and spa several times as well as the hot tub on the roof-- really elegant and relaxing. I wish it hadn't been raining so that we could have sat out on the rooftop. It's a well-priced five star hotel with all the luxuries.

Located in central Lisbon just off Avenida Liberdade, a leafy Avenue leading towards large plazas and 25 minutes walk from the river Tagus. Close to an underground terminal and wider public transport network, easy to travel around the city and surrounding area. The hotel is well appointed with welcoming and attentive staff ready to look after you. Bar area near entrance serves food and drinks, with service also extended to outdoor seating to front of hotel. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a good choice of food and drinks. There are 'chef specials' daily and the staff are very attentive. The hotel has a pool, sauna and steam room for guests at no extra cost. There is also a roof terrace with sun loungers and jacuzzi. Stayed for a week with family and had an amazing time, would highly recommend this hotel if looking for something special.

Great location near the main high end shops, fabulous facilities (pool, spa, roof bar, great restaurant), but can be a bit noisy at night, so might be a problem if you are a light sleeper

Everything about this hotel is wonderful. Rooms are modern comfortable and clean, service is great with great amenities such as a fitness center, jacuzzi and a spa. Restaurant food quality and service were excellent. Love the roif top bar. Good location with lots of high end shopping and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

5 days stay in this lovely small local hotel last week in November. My search is having a good size of heated pool, sauna, spa treatment and gym. This is the perfect location in quiet, good neighborhood not far from tourist sight. We booked a junior suite with big bathroom, very comfortable bed and nice sofa to rest after long day walk. Very discreet, polite service. Didnt get a chance to use roof top bar due to weather but hotel provides all we need in winter time and easy walking distance. Took uber ride to modern art museum and Belem tower. Breakfast is super healthy, great variety selection plus friendly service - almost like a brunch. Highly recommended. Thank you Portobay Liberdade and its staff.

I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Lisbon. The location is perfect in a nice quiet road but close enough to walk to all of the attractions. The area felt very safe compared to some other parts of Lisbon. The service we received at Porto bay was exceptional from all of the staff especially from Josè who made our hotel experience even better with his friendliness, good humour and professionalism. The food and drinks at Porto bay was very tasty and we always received quick friendly service from all of the staff. Our room was perfect , we did not need to upgrade as we thought the standard room was more than enough, a good size and had everything we needed. Our bed was very comfortable (one of the comfiest hotel beds I have stayed in) The waterfall shower was amazing and very relaxing with good pressure. I loved how you can change the lights to different modes (welcome, soft, night etc…) The room also had good amenities such as nespresso machine, tea, milk, fridge, safe, hairdryer, spa robes and slippers. The hotel has a spa which we used one evening which we thought was really beautiful and very calming/relaxing that’s if you have a chance to go there when there are no children dive bombing in the pool and running in and out of the sauna and steam rooms- I don’t think the spa is a place for children as it is a place to relax and enjoy. The decor of the hotel is perfect, simplistic and attractive with a calm atmosphere. I would like to thank all of the staff at Porto bay for such a wonderful stay. If we come back to Lisbon this hotel would be the first hotel we would go to.

A special thanks to Betty who saw it was my son's birthday and left a free bottle of wine & birthday cake! The staff clearly have a great attention to detail. Rui was very helpful and gave great insight into where to go. The hotel is in a great location, centrally located and near everything you need. Facilities were good and and the spa is a lovely addition to your stay.

We loved our stay at the hotel. PortoBay Liberdade is a beautiful five-star hotel in Lisbon with a stellar location right next to Avenida da Liberdade, the most elegant and classy avenue right in the city centre. The hotel has all the features of an upscale property including an indoor swimming pool and gymnasiu, SP, Turkish steam bath, esplanade, patio and a great restaurant with outdoor seating. We had a truly amazing stay and it was the perfect base to explore the city of Lisbon during our trip

One of our favorite hotels in Lisboa. Great breakfast but the service was not five star hotel. The bartender on rooftop was o phone call away, so OK, but when you only deliver two out of three drinks it gets annoying to wait 10 min extra. Also they forgot my coffee for breakfast one day. I hope this was just a one timer of 4 star service in this else great hotel.

Very nice personnel, good location and clean hotel. I don't think it's 5-star quality but definitely a solid 4-srar one

Excellent location. Lovely hotel and facilities. Food lovely too. Rooftop terrace and jacuzzi lovely with the sun shining. Rooms were really nice and very well looked after by house staff. Hotel throughout was immaculate. Bar lacked atmosphere, no music, no buzz, staff lacked personal touch...local knowledge (except for two bell boys who were very helpful) was lacking when queries were asked. Gym basic.

Rating it 5 stars because we had an excellent stay. Location was great, far from the craziness of the touristy areas yet close enough for walking. Everything in the hotel was well though out: switches where you need them, nice sturdy furniture. Concierge was amazing. Did a research of a restaurant we were wanting to go and even messaged us with relevant info after we had left. Staff was super amazing, always ready to help and wanting to please. There were umbrellas we could use right at the lobby. Robes were good quality. It was perfect in every way except for one thing: the breakfast was plenty but was the same for all 4 days that we were there. Even if they could have just 2 spreads of breakfast that they could alternate, it would have made a difference.

Great hotel with good rooms and excellent amenities. Great location, not far from central Lisbon (around a 20 minute walk). Breakfast had lots of options and staff were very attentive. Overall a great experience.

Great hotel, good facilities, attentive staff but not imposing. We are fortunate to have stayed in many good class hotels but there are things which let them down such as repairs that are needed etc. Not this hotel. This hotel is top quality and we loved our stay here.

A superb hotel, friendly, courteous staff with service second to none. The room we had was clean ,well equipped with a very large, very comfortable bed. Only had 1 issue with Aircon which was rectified immediately, can't get better than that. Lovely little rooftop bar and sunbathing area was a nice surprise in a city hotel.Great choice of items at breakfast(we were on bed and breakfast deal so can't comment on any other meals) Positioned just off the Avenida Liberdade it is in a great location. 20 minute stroll down to city centre and within minutes of numerous shops and restaurants. Reasonably priced and very easy to recommend

  • 1/5 J M. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel was noisy and the spare bed not comfortable for a five star. At breakfast the choice is not that big, there are no pancakes for example and no service at table except for drinks, but above all the attitude of the staff here is horrible. They ask you to leave the breakfast room several minutes before the exact ending hour and keep on clearing things on your table every minute to make you feel uncomfortable. Then if anything disappears in your room, they will tell you that you invented the whole thing and that anyway in Portugal there is no law against theft in hotels.

First of all I can highly recommend the PortoBay Liberdade for a nice stay in the heart of Lisbon! Long or short stay! Go for it! The hotel overall as everything you need and is providing a great guest service! You will find a nice breakfast buffet with all you need in the morning. For lunch and dinner you can go to the amazing restaurant, the bar or the rooftop bar! It’s very clean and tidy in whole hotel! An amazing must is to get one of the nice spa Treatments at the mandalay spa! Amazing treatment to enjoy and relax! As well you will find there the nice pool as well as the saunas! I just wanted to highlight some of the staff who where taking care during my stay! Thanks a lot to Carlota and Cecilia from Guest Relations as well as Sofia from the restaurant crew! They all are very kind and nice as well as highly service oriented! Thanks a lot for your support and always your time for a little chat! As well they are open for ideas and suggestions to increase there service level! Thanks to the whole team! Your GM should be very proud of you all!

Great hotel in a great location of Lisbon. The room is aged but very well cared for. Housekeeping team is great! Hotel staff is more than friendly. They were super nice and tentative! My husband has mysterious dizziness during our visit, the staff helped us with calling the doctor and recommending which hospital to go to. I want to especially thank the guest relation lady whose name is Cecilia! It was such a great stay despite my husband’s little health hiccup. We will return for sure! Also, my husband was doing well soon after. Thank you!

We stayed at Porto Bay Liberdade for 3 nights and we couldn't be happier! Location is amazing right in the heart of Lisbon!. Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a huge variety of options. We got our meals at the restaurant and I must say food was delicious and very well prepared, with chief suggestion always available. Staff was very kind since the very beginning and the swimming pool area is great, very spacious and modern. Roof top bar is very cozy with a jacuzzi accessible to all guests Highly recommend this hotel if you're planning to visit Lisbon.

A great pastriery around the corner which locals use. A lot cheaper than having breakfast in the hotel. About a 20 mins walk down to the centre. We started to use the tube towards the end of the trip to save our legs 😉
