If
you're
looking
for
somewhere
to
stay
in
Lisbon
that
is
slightly
off
the
beaten
track,
then
give
Casa
Amora
some
consideration.
Located
in
a
quieter
area
than
the
downtown
districts,
we
found
it
an
ideal
place
to
be
based
for
our
five
day
visit
to
this
fantastic
city.
After
taking
the
metro
from
the
airport
to
the
accomodation
we
were
greeted
by
Paulo,
who
is
extremely
enthusiastic
about
this
area
of
Lisbon
and
who
gave
us
several
pointers
about
places
to
visit
during
our
stay.
Our
apartment
wasn't
quite
ready
upon
our
arrival
,
so
we
crossed
directly
over
the
road
to
the
local
park's
kiosk
where
we
sat
outside
with
small
beers
and
cakes
until
everything
was
in
place
at
Casa
Amora.
The
kiosk
is
a
fantastic
place
to
just
sit
outside
and
watch
the
world
go
by.
I
should
have
mentioned
earlier
that
the
journey
from
the
airport
to
Casa
Amora
took
approx.
twenty
five
minutes
from
the
airport
to
the
front
door,
involving
one
line
change
on
the
easily
understandable
Lisbon
metro
system.
There
is
a
lift
on
the
station
which
will
take
you
to
street
level-
upon
exit
look
for
the
Lebanese
cafe
to
your
right-hand
side,
and
walk
up
the
not
very
steep
hill
for
a
couple
of
minutes
to
reach
Casa
Amora.
Everything
you
could
ask
for
is
provided
in
your
self-contained
apartment
(microwave,
small
portable
cooker,
fridge/freezer
etc),
with
breakfast
provided
between
8.30am
and
11.00am
if
required.
The
selection
is
wide,
but
relatively
basic
as
the
Portuguese
don't
necessarily
'do'
breakfast
as
we
English
do.
The
aforementioned
kiosk
would
be
an
alternative,
or
the
pricier
Copenhagen
Coffee
Lab
cafes
located
throughout
Lisbon.
The
walk
to
downtown
took
us
around
thirty
minutes,
taking
in
a
stop
at
a
miradouro
to
take
in
a
view
of
the
castle.
Would
really
recommend
walking
around
the
city
if
you
can,
although
certain
parts
are
hilly.
The
city
is
very
well
served
by
its
public
transportation,
the
metro
to
Rato
journey
to
Baixa-Chiado
takes
around
fifteen
to
twenty
minutes
involving
two
line
changes.
We
used
Uber
on
numerous
occasions,
which
was
cheap
and
very
useful
when
going
to/from
the
Christ
statue
on
the
other
side
of
the
river;
also
handy
for
reaching
the
Belem
district.
Back
to
Casa
Amora
-
there
are
several
eateries
in
close
vicinity,
as
well
as
a
convenient
local
supermarket.
Throughout
our
stay
Paulo
was
readily
available
via
WhatsApp
to
answer
any
queries.
Checkout
was
simple
-
just
leave
your
keys
on
the
table
and
go
