We came mostly for the palace interior and decided to stay for food. The palace courtyard and also the dining room where you have the food is stunning! You almost feel like you have been transported to ancient times. The staff were great and the food came promptly but unfortunately the food was nothing to write home about. The duck magret was dry and lacking flavour, the plum sauce was bland and the potatoes tasted like those ready made ones you get in a pack. It was edible but a meal you’d rather forget. My daughter had the pork with the bread and for some reason we were expecting the bread to be dry and not soggy but I’m guessing this is a particular Portuguese dish that perhaps others would have known comes like that. The pork was flavourful although a little tough.

Very nice restaurant in Lisbon center, stunning environment and special architecture. Small taverna for Tapas and restaurant for full meal. Food is ok a bit turistic but the place is worth a visit. Staff is super helpful!

To start, the food advertised vs what was received did not match. A Tuna Tatar should be, for the most part, raw tuna. However, the tuna was pretty much cooked and marinated, served with some cheap bread like croutons. To boot, when it came time to pay, I was not asked which currency I wanted to use (Euro vs Dollar). Instead, the waiter pressed the dollar, which upsold the total amount more than it should have been picking local currency. With so many restaurants around, you are better off eating elsewhere.

My partner spoke very highly of this place, but then again he had also visited it over 5 years ago. We both found it very disappointing. Food - I gave it 4 stars because the food was good for what I was forced to order. I say that because what I did want they did not have. The same goes for the wine. Half the wines on their list were not in inventory. Service - Our server was more than a little presumptuous and rude. First he questions what we're ordering and then he looks at his watch and is talking to us about the time and if we're gonna be able to order. It was 9pm and the restaurant didn't close till 11pm. The food here is good and I would recommend it but don't expect great service and roll the dice that they have what you want to order.

not sure why they don't have better reviews. the interior design is very local/exotic (to a visitor) and the people spoke English very well. the food was very good. I tried a deep fried cod dish. I was worried it was gonna be too greasy but it was not!! the side mashed potato/chickpea was good too. however the side contained coriander and garlic. I'm not a huge fan of these spices, so I couldn't finish it, but still ate more than half of it. they have other interesting cuisine you can't easily find at other places (like a rabbit dish). highly recommend this place!

Old, beautiful and stunning building. An absolute must visit if you are here in Lisbon. We did not eat or drink here, we came simply just to look at the insides of the building. It seems to be from Morocco, maybe Marrakeck. It has the old patina and grandeur. Great exhibition of the ex-patrons from Alentejo. Definitely a place to see.

It is an incredible space. It looks like palaces I have seen in Morocco. The ballrooms are something breathtaking. The restaurant is nice, but not as the rest of the building. Pricing is midrange, and meun offer typical portugues food's. There is only one vegetarian option, so it is not ideal if you're looking for this kind of food. It is well connected to public transport, and there is an underground parking nearby. If you have not been there, go and have a look. You will not be sorry.

Great experience overall to have some typical alentejo snacks with wine in Lisbon. 1. As a Lisbon citizen who has been in alentejo, I can tell that the food is alentejo bona-fide. Very tasty and authentic! 2. The service was good (nothing to complain). 3. The environment was great, there was some people singing Canto Alentejano (alentejo music).

I give this place a 5 star review because the food was “homemade” style and very good and the fish was fresh and so was their house wine. The place is lovely with traditional tiles in a nice area. Recommend that you book in advance :)

From the outside, this place is unassuming. Do not pass it by! Step inside and up the dramatic staircase into the foyer. Continue upstairs to the breathtakingly beautiful dining rooms... each more beautiful than the last. The service and waitstsff work relatively fast (even if the story goes that things are slow in Alentejo). The prices are very affordable and the food is great.

Its a very nice place but the food is a bit overrated. It's divided into several room with alentejo inspiration. The price is fair for the service and the quality of the food . Unfortunately "ensopado de borrego" was not available on my visit.

I visited the restaurant after a few years and have mixed feelings. The interior is still breathtaking, and it is divided into a few smaller rooms with different decorations. However, the food was less tasty than I remembered. It was still edible, but without any "wow" effect. The portions were smaller and the prices rocketed up (we spent about 50 € for a lunch for two). I hope the food will improve, because it is a really stylish place, also conveniently located near the Rossio Square.

This was our first dining in Lisbon as we wanted to experience a classic and old school of Lisbon. The atmosphere is very nice. It is set on an old palace with Moorish feature and palm trees. The dining room is big and elegant with a stunning tile walls .Service is good . Staffs are attentive. Wine choices is very good. Food is average compared with all the food we had from the rest of our trip.

Very nice Hause, with an oriental garden after you come in. The restaurant is very interesting, and last but not least: I've never eaten a better lamb -rice in my life... This so simple dish was so unbelievably tasty, a big compliment to the chef. Service was excellent too!!

Avoid avoid avoid!!! Served up soup that looked like pond scum with snot consistency poached egg, that (somewhat miraculously) managed to lack any flavour, and pink pork. Strangely I didn't stay for dessert. Service was inattentive. They did have the decency to offer me a different dish (I didn't want to see what was next!) but then took the charge off for the pork (that could've given me food poisoning). Hands down the worst meal of my 43 years of life. Do yourself a favour and eat at Terroir. Amazing food, amazing service.

I went there for dinner and with high expectations, as my wife had been there a couple of years ago and she liked it very much. The good bits: the interior is very nice and typical Portuguese with historic wall paintings and azulejos. The gentleman at the entrance who welcomes the guests is very kind and friendly. The bad bits: the food was below par, the service was below par and the price paid for both was definitely below par. I approached the restaurant with a positive attitude, but left it with the intention of certainly not returning there. What a pity, but I am massively disappointed!

Amazing food at a reasonable price. We ordered shrimp patties, cod fish cakes, clams, sauteed mushrooms, chicken gizzard, and fried pork in red pepper sauce. Food came quickly and was in decent portions. We didn't go to the restaurant (second floor) but instead went to the tavern on the first floor which offers a tapas style dining experience. The decor upon entry was beautiful.

It’s a hidden beautiful place in which you historical immersion The tiles come from the Arab influence and you are able to see it all over, plus the Portuguese food served in the restaurant that seems to be hidden but it’s just right there. The food has small portions, the menu is not super varied but they will give you good recommendations It’s the beauty of portuguese food

Amazing restaurant surrounded by the historical building. The personnel working at the restaurant will make you feel part of royalty. The food was simply amazing, the flavors were like an explosion of deliciousness, you need to reserve a table or try a walk in. Miguel, our waitress was amazing, bravo Miguel!!!!!!

The place is nice to visit for its architecture. The food, overall, was ‘okay’. Nothing special. we ordered the fried cod fish which was an acceptable dish in case of size and quality, and also the mushroom and prosciutto dish as a starter.

This is a really great place with authentic Portuguese food. We enjoyed it a lot! Also, what makes it even more special is the Moroccan design.

Fantastic food! Sooo out of the way. It's easy to miss, so keep your eyes open. It's a unique dining space. It is one of the top 10 places to eat. The price with the Euro conversion is great, superior value for money. Highly recommended restaurant with authentic Portuguese food.

It is one of the most emblematic places in Lisbon. The restaurant has one of the best traditional Portuguese cuisine. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever eaten and the food was amazing! I was recommended this place for the beautiful surroundings but the food was even better! We were a big group of 12, looked after by Jorge I think. It was really well priced and we had the best time! I cannot wait to come back!!! 10/10!!

Hidden gem in Lisbon, this place is so worth a visit inside as it is beautiful and still quite unknown from many tourists.

Beautiful place for a quick visit while walking around historical Lisbon. It's a nice place to stop and grab a coffee or beer aswell

The architecture of the building this restaurant is located in is absolutely stunning, worth a visit by itself! On top of that, the food was amazing, excellent price, super polite service. Highly recommended! PS: careful to avoid the tourist trap restaurants around, their staff will try to lure you to their own and will even tell you that the restaurant you're looking for is closed (it is not!)

You step out of Lisbon straight into a Marrakech like building. It has the old patina and grandeur and loved the little exhibition of the ex-patrons from Alentejo. Definitely a place to see.

If you're coming for lunch, I recommend going inside to look at the beautiful interior of the restaurant, and then sitting out in the courtyard area of the bistro. It's lovely and quiet, shaded and great for a solo meal. I enjoyed the Açorda, it was very flavoursome - the only issue was the poached egg was overcooked. Service was very quick.
