We are Americans visiting and really enjoyed the pastries and coffee here. As a warning to other travelers, most the staff doesn't speak English and there us a ticket system to order. When you walk in. #1 tickets are for sit down and #2 are for carryout. We didn't know this and waited in line and had to go back and get a ticket. They take credit cards and they move through the line pretty quick. It is more of a locals spot and a better option if you are willing to walk away from the touristy areas.

The espresso was the best I’ve had in a while in Portugal (we are from the Aveiro region). The sugar croissant is a gooey sugary buttery naughty delight. I preferred the thin crispy palmier. I don’t usually like palmiers, however the one here is noice! And everyone there is SO nice & friendly. We accidentally made a mess but they were so so kind. Apparently there is always a line but we were fortunate enough to catch them on a light day (was still full of people- but no line).

Busy café recommended by Lonely Planet. There are 2 queues for takeaway and eat-in but the former is very slow. I tried their renowned croissants and they are warm & soft inside but covered by a dangerous amount of sugar. Employees didn't seem to speak English so it was hard to ask questions. Personally I wouldn't do a detour to pay a visit.

Amazing croissant different than the classic European one but so good. Prices are cheap and the place is super simple, don't expect anything fancy. Enjoy a croissant and a cafe outside, nice experience.

Are you a sweet tooth looking for butter croissants with a generous hand of sugar? The sugar croissants here are the best seller and you will hate it or love it. If you love butter and sugar, they are really well stuffed with it. And since this place is always full, you’ll get them really fresh from the oven. Worth it if you’re a sugar lover. The best part: it’s cheap!

Nice little bakery/cafe. It’s in a relatively quiet area. The outdoor seating is very nice and relaxing. So far everything I’ve had here has been quite tasty. The lines can be out the door if you come here during the peak hours.

Great pastries and worth the wait. I came at 9:30 and they were out of their famous sweet croissants, so I tried the egg tarts. Yummy. I was confused at first on how to order since there were many people waiting outside. I realized I just needed to walk in and take a number. Once I made my order, a card was given to me to pay at the end.

Not bad. This is NOT a fancy district. Authentic place for locals without “fleur for tourists”. Cut off your expectations. Not bad. Definitely not the best. Far not

This gem is hidden away in the suburbs of Lisbon. We had a great time over here and even went for another pastry. The place is also loved by locals that come and stop by for a great cup of coffee. Big recommend!

There were chunks of sugar crystals on my croissant. It was actually crunchy because of how much sugar it had 🤯

Very cute place but terribly unfriendly service. Coffee is horrendous and so are the pastries. Such a shame.

Fast service, given that there's pros and cons with that, no real human to human attention, they function more as a croissant shooting machine, which makes sense given the constant crowd around said croissant, either way a great experience with awesome food

The Iced sugar croissants are wonderful. Very famous café in Restelo, near Lisboa with more than 50 years old.

Tasty traditional Portuguse Pastry & Bakery. Ask for a Palmier Simples or Croissant & you will have tasted some of the best products of the house.

A traditional pastel aria which is still a well kept secret by local customers even if it is only few minutes from the major tourist attractions in Belem. High quality food and prompt service im combination with the large variety asks for regular visits.

A classic place which never lost its quality nor increased its prices drastically. Very good pastry, especially their famous croissants and palmiers. It's a busy, tradicional looking café with a small esplanade. Totally recommend.

Careca is one of the hidden gems of portuguese pastry. Placed in a very quite nut beatiful neighborhood, it's where families come together for a coffee or the mid afternoon snack (lanche). Not that far from pastéis de Belém , it's a detour that any turist that likes to taste true local delicacies, should do. Ask for the croissants or the palmiers. They are both to die for . And whilst you are at it ask for a Café (an expresso). Some of the locals eat the croissants either with butter and/ or cheese and ham. Enjoy!

Amazing croissants (super sweet though)! Wish they had plant based milk for the coffee.

Beautiful sugary croissants and some tasty little biscuits (elephant ears maybe? ). A real gem of a place.

This place is definitely my morning a vibe. Different style of service, you take a ticket for either dine in or take out. Worth the wait , food was amazing and the service was prompt. I love it here.
