Not sure I would return. Needed to find a gluten free place for breakfast and had high expectations of this place because of the Google reviews. I ordered several items politely in Portuguese, said thank you about a dozen times every time the staff gave me something, and not once did they respond, with a smile or with some sort of acknowledgement. Food wise, we ordered 2 GF croissants and 2 waffles. My younger one was so disappointed with the look of the waffle that she couldn’t bring herself to eat it. It wasn’t fluffy or toasty enough. And unfortunately I agreed, and wasted €5.40. The croissants were okay, a bit too stodgy, big and flavourless for my liking. Fresh orange juice was nice but you can’t go wrong with squeezing oranges. Coffee wasn’t too bad. Had to get a token (or pay 50c) to use the toilets. Men’s toilet was so disgusting my kids refused to go in so we had to get another token for me to take them. Total bill came to €33. A bit steep for gluten free food that just aren’t as good as what we have at home.

Great place if you have diet restrictions. Everything is gluten free, virtually everything is vegan / lactose free, the only exception was the cheese cake. They do hamburgers and pizza as well. Different type of milks as well, so you can have your coffee as you like it!

Really enjoyed a quick stop at this place. This is place is celiac friendly, but also has traditional gluten dishes. Our celiac travelers didn’t have any issues. Order: Fresh OJ: super sweet. Oranges in this country and so sweet. At least what we’ve tried. Margarita Pizza (GF): oregano herb crusted GF pizza. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was nice. Needs a bit more tomato sauce to give it a bit of sweetness and acidity. Pastel de Nata: fabulous! We tried the HF version GF Brownie (chocolate cake). A bit dry but tasty

Was very excited about that place but honestly can’t recommend it at all. I am celiac and we went there first day, I ordered several salty and sweet things but it was totally disappointing and not worth for the money it costs. The young waiter was super demotivated and unfriendly. I can bake and cook, I know lots of places all over the world, to say, this was tasteless doughy and DRY food and the nightmare was that there was a worm at the ladies bathroom in the bakery! Hello, what about hygiene!? The waiter wasn’t really interested and told me that they clean daily … no more words needed!

Great if you’re in the area to pop in for lunch. All gluten free now, older reviews don’t reflect that but always double check. Pizza 🍕 was good, different from Italian or American, good in it’s own way and would get it again! The sandwiches 🥪 looked nice too. They have all the local sweets too - tried the pastel de nata yum!

It's no longer called Zarzuela but Bali do Cais, the food was good, with gluten-free options, the service was a disaster and we were very cold eating (we told the waiters but they didn't do much...). Never to return.

One of the very few places where they serve gluten free pastel among other things. They have a wide variety of gluten free and dairy free food.

2.4€ for a small vegan custard pie is expensive. And taste was not to my liking. A little bit too sweet for me. But I feel grateful that they have a vegan version of the famous custard pie.

No longer the Gluten free haven we knew and loved. New name new brand - Bread chewy and pastel de nata are now rubbish no longer worth the detour 😢😢

Excellent place for gluten-free sweets, waffles and pizza. The staff is very polite, the location is great and we will be back next time when in Lisbon. Gluten-free (and vegan) pasta del nata for 2.20 eur.

I visited this place for breakfast whilst in Portugal as my friend is celiac. I ordered what looked like a croissant - it turned out to be a bread-type thing with Nutella in the middle. The Nutella was the ingredient that helped make this semi decent, otherwise the "pastry" was pretty bland and cakey. The pastel de nata was fine, and my friend enjoyed the sugar donut :) overall not bad, I should have tried their cakes as they may have been better.

(Translated by Google) Really five stars, it is a place to return whenever you go to Costa da Caparica! Very calm atmosphere, very polite and friendly staff, very discreet decor but with exquisite pizza, the mango mousse is to eat and cry for more and at the end the coffee accompanied by an offer from the chef, a liquor, but the pampering didn't stop here! In the end we were offered two red carnations. I strongly recommend it. Recomendo vivamente.

Italian 5* dining experience in Portugal. Went twice in the week I was in town. The 1st night I had carbonara the 2nd time a Parma ham pizza. The food was exquisite the service perfect. The menu is not massive but has something for everyone with plenty of fish dishes. The décor and ambiance is one of the best in town. The house red wine was very good. Finally on payment of bill a 🌹 is given to the lady.

Absolutely repulsive this place has to be closed at it's best. Small amount of gluten free stuff that were basically heated up supermarket stuff. Pizza was microwave one. I ate 1/2 of the burger never had worst thing with soggy frozen buns and 2 sad pieces of salad. The chips was fried in god knows what but it made me gag. No gluten free francesinha or traditional custard pastry as advertised! We did not try the rest of the things that we were excited about because our lunch was so gross we hardy touched it. It was empty, weird and smelly. I recon whoever finished their portion got food poisoning, at least this is how it smelled, looked and tasted

Well, I have to admit that I had high expectations but at this point, I am giving it 3 stars only for the fact that they cater for different dietary requirements. That’s great! We had a pastel de nata, the other options all looked lovely and plentiful. It can’t be easy to make a gluten free and vegan pastel de nata and I respect these guys for doing it, but maybe it’s not quite there yet in regards to the pastry.

What an amazing bakery! We had the chocolate and apple croissants. These are amazing, given that it's almost impossible to recreate the texture of a croissant with gluten free flour. They had such a light, perfectly soft texture and the chocolate and apple fillings were flavorful and rich without being saccharine. Great bakery. A complete must for those with vegan/gluten free restrictions.

I'm very disappointed... 1. There is the menu about the breakfast in the window (attached photo). We decided to take the breakfast "completo", because pastel de nata is included. Inside we got no menu. When we got the breakfast, we were told that pastel de nata is not included. 2. Poor breakfast with ham+cheese (poor quality), butter, honey and jam. Cappuccino was awful (with instant whip cream instead of milk foam). 3. No nice atmosphere, very cold and uncomfortable room with a view to open toilet doors. 4. Staff was not very friendly and unmotivated. 5. We had a chocolate croissant, eclair and pastel de nata for takeaway. It was also not good, very dry and boring. I would not recommend neither for celiacs or not.

We were looking forward to visit this place after reading a lot of positive (we ignored the negative 🙄) reviews. To be honest, the place is a joke and a ripoff. The menu outside shows a "completo breakfast" with pastel de nata, hot drink, toasted bread, croissant, olive oil, almond butter... Inside, no menu or anything. The staff is unmotivated and annoyed waiting than 2 seconds for our order. We decided to try the "completo" and ordered some takeaway for later (eclair, chocolate croissant and a vegan pastel de nata). And this is what we got. A shockingly boring breakfast, no croissant, no toasted bread, no pastel de nata, nothing worth the price. Generic pressed ham, cheese tasted like plastic, and by far the worst coffee I tasted in the last few years. With sugary whip cream instead of milk and simply not drinkable. To be fair, the bread was ok. My girlfriend at least got a very generic, but very dry croissant. Not worth the calories 😱 We had some hope that the takeaway stuff taste better, but were disappointed again. The sweet offer looks good at first glance but it tastes horrible. I think this was the first time in my life, that I was throwing away pastries 🤣 Long story short, don't waste your time and money to visit this place. There are far better and cheaper options for celiacs all over Lisbon.

We had the gluten free pastel de nata, which were lovely. However, we were told that they only accept Portuguese card payments (which is really weird in a modern connected world), so if you’re not Portuguese make sure you have cash. They’re also not cheap, at around 14 Euros for 6…. So a bit of an indulgence. Enjoy!

During my short vacation in Lisbon, I first went to Zarzuela because I am celiac and rely on a gluten-free diet. The café/bakery is pretty to look at and there was also a selection of sweet baked goods. I tried some of them, but I have to say that they didn't convince me in terms of taste. The Pasteis de Nata were rather hard and had a slightly smoky taste. The two croissants/croissants were quite compact and I felt like it was getting bigger and bigger in my mouth. The fillings were only minimal and everything was therefore very dry overall. However, the service and the ambience of the café were very good. I still wouldn't come back because the zarzuela simply doesn't taste good. The “Rice Me Deli” is way better ☺️.

I had been waiting all our 2 weeks on vacation to go here after watching my husband eating many pastel de natas. I was on cloud nine to have mine and he had to try it as well to compare. Sadly, of course, as gluten free pastry is its not the same he said and not as good, but hey I wouldn't have known the difference 😉 😜 They also had great coffee and I also took away an almond creme crossiant! That was yum!

Pretty good burger and nice not to have to worry about gluten. However, we went in near closing time wanting to order waffles and were told that they only had burgers and pizzas available, so we ordered burgers, but two other people came in and ordered waffles while we were waiting. Probably just a miscommunication / language barrier, but a little annoying. I was also annoyed to be charged 50c for the bathroom!

I went there for breakfast, and for vegan availability they only had the Pastel de Nata... in short, for a vegan pastry shop, a bit disappointing in terms of supply for a breakfast. For the rest the pastel wasn't even hot, so not formidable. But the value for money remains excellent.

Really cool restaurant, looks fancy but prices are OK. You can see the menu card on a tablet, which makes it easier to decide on what to get. Some of the staff were friendly, while others weren't that friendly. Food was great; I had the lasagna and homemade garlic bread. Tiramisu was excellent 😊

Lovely and cozy. I really enjoyed it here. I ate here twice and the food was amazing. I recommend the garlic bread it was just fab. I found the staff very friendly and spoke English very well. I even got a rose when I paid the bill. The prices are reasonable also but my god the servings are very very big. O only ate half my lasagne and I'm not a fan of waste but for some I'm sure this will be a bonus😄

We ordered the bacalhau risotto and the bife a pimenta. The food arrived fast and the service was distant but yet friendly. The price is ok for the place. It's clean and has a nice/fancy atmosphere. I would recommend the place for a date or romantic moment, the quiet music was enjoyable. The only thing that I think could improve is the washrooms, too small for the size of the restaurant but yet they were clean.

Quite unusual approach to Italian cuisine. Carbonara done with cream, lasagna instead of sugo had just minced meat and whole peace of lasagna was drowned in something resembling tomato sauce, pizza would be ok if it wasn't drowned in the same sauce. Place looks nice but needs a better chef.

(Translated by Google) We went on a Saturday for lunch. Everything we ate was wonderful, the decor super cozy, the temperature pleasant, but for the service, we never returned. We had been gone for a few years (my daughter and I) and we really enjoyed it. This weekend we decided to take my mother. There was a poster outside saying Executive Menu ... Of course we asked what it included, and when after seeing the normal menu, we realized that what we wanted was included in the menu, we decided to order the executive menu. From that moment on, we felt that the maid was doing us a favor to attend to us (although we asked for extras separately) ... I have an addiction to putting coarse salt in everything, and when I asked for coarse salt, the maid brought us a fine salt shaker (which was not salt, it was pepper) and said it was the only one they had available for the tables. .. the cumulus was when my mother suggested asking in the kitchen, she said that it was the only salt that there was and that they cooked with that one (I emphasize again that it was pepper) ... after much insistence on my part, there was grudgingly ask the kitchen and there came the coarse salt. We ate a garlic bread with cheese, a pizza with pineapple and ham, a bolognese pasta and a carbonara pasta. Everything was delicious. But a suggestion: If you don't want to have an executive menu, don't have it, nobody forces you !!! If they decide to have it, do not serve customers reluctantly. They realize ... and say that the dessert of the day is fruit salad, ok ... accepted, but we were waiting for a sweetie (but thanks for the fruit salad that we didn't eat, only my mother, because afterwards we went to the painted ice cream parlor to eat a glass of ice cream and knew it for life). Summary: it's not worth it and if you decide to go and be a Brazilian maid to assist you ... I wish you luck and a dose of patience, (Original) Fomos num sábado ao almoço.

Only tried the vegan pasteis de nata and it was good but not amazing. It’s probably as good as you’re going to get for a vegan version of the delicious tarts. My tart was also probably a little too burnt for my liking as well.

A certified gluten-free bakery is difficult to find. This is one of them. Unfortunately, the place did not look super inviting. We did not get the chance to tried the pastry but we drank an incredibly cheap soy latte for less than 2 euros. Coffee was good tho.

It's so hard to find gluten free food everywhere. This place was incredible. The coffee was incredible, the chocolate croissant was great (no, it's not that much like acroissant, but I loved pretending). The veggie burger had great taste, but was super mushy. The fries were great, not oily and the oil was fresh. And the spicy pineapple juice was awesome. Also, very reasonably priced. Would definitely come back if my waistline could afford it.

Rather disappointed with this place. The location was great because we were able to see trams crossing over and there was the life in the streets. The vegan apple pastry was nice and so was the mozzarella, tomato, nut and honey salad we had. The let down was due to the fish as the entire back of it was completely raw, it was as if they cooked just the top and served it too us. Upon telling the waiter all he did was shrug his shoulders which I found rather rude seeing as we paid for a cooked fish. I wouldn't return knowing that there are so many other brilliant food places all over Lisbon.

If you’re celiac or have any other allergens this is the place to come and have Portuguese pastries. The owners are celiac and lactose intolerant so really know about the menu and what you can and can’t have. If not for anything you need to have the nata. I don’t know anywhere else where there is gluten free nata and this place also has vegan nata. It might be a little expensive but where else in the world could you have traditional nata. I will be back most days of this trip.

(Translated by Google) Not all that glitters is gold. It is certainly appreciated that they have gluten-free products for coeliacs, but honestly, they leave a lot to be desired. The place is not as clean as I would like it to be, and for the record, I like traditional places. The coffee is not good, which is almost a sin in Portugal! Neither does chocolate. The gluten-free mixed sandwich, however, is very good and the prices like everything gluten-free are not cheap ... The attention, however, is quite good. The person who attended us (I suppose the owner), was attentive and served us all kinds of explanations. No complaints in that regard. Anyway, the feeling that remains is a bit bittersweet ...

This is a nice cafe with a local vibe but we came to try their gluten free nata and it was disappointing. Pastry wasn’t crispy and the custard and butter gelatinous. Anyway I am sure their other products were delicious and they were really friendly. Their fresh OJ was great. I resigned myself to the fact that pastel de nata is for the non celiac’s of the world!!

A lot to say about that place. So first of all the pastries are really overrated. We tried the plane croissant, the apple croissant, the strawberry croissant and the chocolate croissant. And it might be the first time that I through vegan food to the bin. It was just really not good and really disappointing. The only one that was eatable was the chocolate one because the feeling was covering the taste of the croissant dough. Second is more a warning. Be careful to the price asked at the till. As they try to overcharge us more than 25%. I really advise any people to look for an other place to get some treats. There is so many amazing vegan places in Lisbon, no need to fall into this trap!

They offer plenty of gluten-free pastry and pizza. I tried famous Pastel de nata, pastel de bacalhau and shrimp’s smile. The last two were good, but I was really disappointed over pastel de nata - the dough was not crispy, the custard was not tasteful at all (however, we were there 2 hours before closing - fresh ones might be better). They have also gluten-free Super Bock beer - I didn’t try it but my partner said it’s the first gluten-free beer which tastes like a regular one.

The taste of everything we bought there was amazing! My wife wanted to try the real portuguese bakery and the we found everything we wanted. I also try the regular food (only my wife is celiac) and i can say that there is no difference at all. Btw, really good price!

If you not have to eat gluten free, don’t eat here. The coffee and the staff were okay. The vegan breakfast and the vegan pasteis de nata were disappointing to say the least. I believe the whole display of variety and accommodation of different diets (paleo, vegan) is mostly flair to attract more clients.

My husband is GF so we found this place. He got a pizza and said it was best gluten free pizza he has ever had. Coffee was decent too. We’re about to try the gf pasteis de nata. Plenty of options if you need gf, vegan, etc.

If your searching for some of the delicious cakes they have all over Lisbon and particularly the Pastel De Nata, but cannot eat gluten then this is the place for you! Situated just off the sea front this hidden gem offer GF pizza and Pasta as well as dozens of cake options, it’s a dream for coeliacs and a welcome site just as we finished up our trip to Lisbon and trust me I wanted to eat it all, a magnificent selection, good service and a good price! Will be back next time I’m In Lisbon!

Everything can be made gluten free, which is awesome for celiacs. I ate the toast (was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary) and a chocolate croissant (very good!). I also took a pastel de nata, which unfortunately wasn't as good as I expected, but in general it was so nice to have a place to eat breakfast out in Lisbon! Btw: I advise you to get there early as it gets full pretty quickly!

Everything is gluten free which is great. We ordered an assortment of pastries. The prices were good. The egg tart was really good. It tasted exactly like the gluten full tart. The rest of the pastries were just ok. The dough was on the ticker side. I would suggest going and buying a box of the egg tarts.
