We went for the fado concert Saturday at 3:30, and is really worth it! Small concert, not crowded, you can also order a coffee, wine, anything while you are watching the performance. It is in the patio of the house so it's really nice, If you have fever you can buy the tickets there but I'm sure you can also buy them in the place. But do it in advance because there isn't a lot of people and it's full! If you don't know Portuguese don't worry about it, they will make you fill part and will do small intersections with the audience saying "now in English" but I don't want to spoiled anything more. Just go!

My friend and I passed by on the bus, and I got curious, so we decided to learn more about Amália and visit her house. For €7/each, we got a guided tour of the house, and sat in the lovely garden. It was informative and we could even ask where to see a good Fado concert in the evening. I'd recommend going. It's not allowed to take pictures in the house.

They preserved all the furniture and the decorations as it was before ad this was amazing to feel that I go through the same way as Amalia did and see the same things. I was quiet interested about the details of her personal life as she grew and the guide had absolute knowledge in details about her life. It was a pity that I could not take picture of inside the house as they did not allow it but only the reception and the yard was allowed. I highly recommend this museum especially for Fado lovers. The entrance is 6.5 euros and the discount is only for students under 25 years old.

A must see when walking on the fado path I Lisbon! I got a very personal guiding there explaining so many fascinating details out of Amalia's life. Everything is preserved exactly in the way she left it passing away in 1998 - including her parrot 🦜 who's still alive...

You'd better pre-book as you are only allowed to visit when you are scheduled im as they only allow entrance on guided tours. If you are not Portuguese only sign up for English group is possible. Staff is not service focused at all. Guys, I am telling you other crisis will come up and you will beg us tourists to visit.

The house of Amália Rodrigues has been beautifully preserved, very worth seeing, no question. Keep in mind that it can only be visited as part of a guided tour and that taking pictures is not allowed. The guide was not the most charming person, maybe she had a rough day. If I may voice one request: Please stop showing a chained parrot as part of the tour. It doesn’t matter if it was the way people treated parrots in the past - it’s just painful to watch and unneccessary.

(Translated by Google) Located on Rua de São Bento in Lisbon, the current House-Museum was the residence of the best known and renowned Portuguese fado singer internationally, for about 40 years until his death in 1999 at the age of 79 years. Many of her dresses, props, paintings, decorations and other objects that he gathered at the throughout your life. In this House, during the 20th century, Amália lived with poets, musicians, composers and other cultural names. Out of curiosity, I point out that it was in this same House that Amália in 1968, he recorded a memorable album with Vinícius de Morais, known Brazilian poet.

A very disappointing experience. I had bought tickets to visit the museum and to have the fado experience. I bought through the app of "fever" a very famous app in Portugal which sells tickets for events, I had already used the app and never had had a problem. When I went with my tickets (3 tickets of 25 euros each) to Fundaçao Amalia Rodrigues, they said to me that the tour and fado were not available and they had nothing to do with the fever app (even if the name of the museum is clearly advertised in there) it’s hard for me to believe they don’t know where their services are advertised and sold. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing after having spent 75 euros and scheduling my sight seeing for the day in Lisbon in order to get at the museum on time. They simply said that I should contact the app that sold the tickets, that they had nothing to do whatsoever, not wanting to take any responsibility on it. The young lady at the reception was nice, empathetic and tried to help me and my family since we were clearly disappointed with the situation. However, and older lady that came from an office (she seemed to be like the one in charge) was extremely rude to me, she came to tell me that they had nothing to do with the tickets, and she even raised her voice at me when I was trying to ask for some responsibility on their side, I just couldn't believe that treatment. What a disgrace of behaviour towards customers that just feel scammed and disappointed with the whole situation. This is not an image you want to keep from Portuguese people, but to be fair, I think this is not the normal behaviour, it was just this woman incredibly impolite. In the end, we just left the place feeling very sad and disappointed with that kind of treatment. I wouldn't recommend the place unfortunately.

Excellent place! The house that she was living. There still have her perroquet in her kitchen. Chico (the perroquet name)appel her name with man's voice. So emotional when he call her.. The guide is nice. Take care of my questions. There is the garden, they are going to do the Fado live some time.

We listened to a very nice Fado concert in the heart of Lisbon. This took place in a garden. The ambient noise reinforces the feeling that Fado is part of the whole.

It was ok. The tour was rushed in english. I wasn't really an Amalia fan before going in, and I wouldn't say I learned much more than that she was a very successful fadista and toured the world. It felt like a very 'sanitised' glamorous history of her life, I'm sure there were some times of conflict in her life coming from a working class background to fame and I would have loved to know a bit about the adversity she overcame. No real mention about her relationships or what she was actually like, other than basically just a very good singer and a very religious woman. Would only recommend if you're already interested in Amalia.
