The garden was on the way to the impressive structure I saw from across the road. This continued my journey from Belem Tower. The commute here assuming that you were moving site to site in a logical fashion just meant crossing the road. It was very nice designed garden with a small maze and a fountain which is always a good feature to attract birds! It's not impressive on its own such that it warrants a special visit, it's just a nice addition in combination of the other landmarks nearby. It contains numerous benches to rest on after a fair bit of walking! It's worth checking out as it's very near to the other popular landmarks!

Finally open after being several years on renovations! Beautiful garden near the most iconic monuments of Lisbon, you can take great photos here, seat, relax, your kids can run around, play and enjoy the ducks. It gives life to the city!

Nice, I would prefer more grass here, there are too much cementing. Fountain didn't work.

Stunning gardens in Belem. Best place to sit and admire the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, as well as the Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Very well kept and clean with a large central fountain.

An underwhelming looking formal park located between the Jeronimos Monastery and the Descobrimentos statue. the park does offer great views of the Jeronimos monastery and church. There is a somewhat dilapidated looking fountain in the center and a number of symmetrical cobblestone pathways. You'll probably walk through it on the way to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos monument.

Yeah this jardin is finally open after several years of restoration. Great place to visit! The new planters feature several of the Monastery’s elements.

A really nice park with huge fountain in the center, and smaller ones around with ducks. There is some lack of maintenance, especially towards the monastery where there should be examples of plant species, but half is missing. Also, it's a shame that it's cut off the river by roads and tracks, they should have built a tunnel.

One of my favorite gardens in Lisbon. The garden itself is well taken care of but also because the views around are amazing! From here you can take the best photos of Monsteiro Jeronimos.

Great park next to Belem tower and many other attractions. Reminder: it's not possible to sit there on a grass and chill. If you wanna do that, do it in a park next to the Belem tower.

A nice and well-kept park with a varied appearance, a lovely pond, a fountain, attractive cobblestone promenades, stone benches and sculptures. It is just a few steps from St. Jerome’s Monastery, with a great view on that. A great place to relax while sightseeing.

Beautiful garden with a big water fountain in the middle, a shame that it wasn’t on. Very well keep and great shapes on the bushes and trees.

Really a nice park just to stroll through. I saw a lot of people here with kids, some people enjoying a picnic, and even a few people taking a nap in the park. It’s relaxing, clean, and a nice stop-over spot from visiting nearby spots.

Praça do Império is a square-shaped public spaces situated directly in front of Jeronimos monastery. Here you will find a large centre fountain, symmetric and straightforward walkways and two long rectangular shapped fish pools with horse sculptures on the south side of the park. You will also see attractive calçada portuguesa (mosaic cobblestone) patterns around the square. These are the most interesting things to see at Praça do Império. There are park benches and places to sit and rest but few trees with overreaching branches and virtually no shade. This is something to keep in mind if you are looking for a break from the sun. Seek shaded areas at Jardim Vasco de Gama instead. It is just next to Praça do Império. Overall, I most enjoyed the two south side of the square best. This is where you find the pools and the most of the decorative cobblestone patterns around Praça do Império. I'd visit again just to see the calçada portuguesa here. Note: For nice photographs, position yourself at the south side of the square and take pictures of Jeronimos Monastery. From here you can capture the fountain and an attractive section of calçada portuguesa in your lens.

I've been there recently and it's even more beautiful after the changes made in the past year. Great place to go in a sunny day in Lisbon!

Beautiful gardens and well cared for. Be sure to walk through on your way between the monastery and the sites on the other side of the highway. Note that the pedestrian underpass is right next to the southwest corner of the gardens. Avoid the duck pools. That there water ain't fresh ... and you'll know it if you get near it.

Boats galore and they are gorgeous. Most of the cavernous and frigid rooms have exquisite replicas of ships from 16th and 17th centuries. The history is not always glorious tho as they were used to colonize, terrorise, kill and enslave as well as discover and do trade.

The Jardim da Praça do Império is a garden located in Lisbon. It has an area of 3.3 ha. It is located between Avenida da Índia and Rua de Belém, close to the Jerónimos Monastery. It was built in 1940 on the occasion of the Great Exhibition of the Portuguese World. Previously, the area was a beach, known as "Praia do Restelo". Its central lake has on the outside the Coats of Mercê Antiga or Nova belonging to or attributed to Navigators during the period of the Discoveries. Its gardens feature 30 floral coats of arms representing the 18 Portuguese districts, the archipelagos and the former colonies, to which are added the crosses of Christ and Avis. There is also a national shield also made with boxwood and flowers.

The Jardim da Praca do Imperio or Gardens of the Empire Square is a public square and park just opposite the Jerónimos Monastery. Aside from all the tourist attractions around the square and area, the gardens are very classical and regular like an Italian gardens. Although the gardens are peaceful and pleasant, it feels like there's a dearth of flower and other plants to make it really pretty. Inside the gardens is an impressive fountain that illuminated at night, and two beautiful Hippocamp statues.

👍👍 Beautiful place. It's such a pleasure to be here in any season in full sun or under the moon. The Belem tower is awesome !
