The
Príncipe
Real
cedar
is
the
oldest
tree
classified
in
the
Portuguese
capital
due
to
recognition
of
its
public
interest.
Its
150
years
of
age
prove
the
resilience
of
this
tree,
admired
by
Lisbon
residents
and
tourists.
Seven
meters
high
and
with
an
unusual
configuration,
the
monumental
and
centuries-old
Buçaco
cedar
in
Jardim
do
Príncipe
Real
is,
in
reality,
a
cypress
(Cupressus).
If
its
name
can
deceive
the
most
distracted,
the
same
happens
with
its
scientific
name
Cupressus
lusitanica.
The
fact
is
that,
despite
its
name
suggesting
that
it
is
a
Portuguese
species,
the
Buçaco
cedar
is
a
tree
native
to
the
mountains
of
Mexico
and
Guatemala.
