I love local authentic places, but this is Overrated. We got there and the place wasn’t super full. We were excited to try real Portuguese food and ordered croquettes and grilled fish. The croquettes were served pretty quickly, but we spent almost 1 hour looking at new clients coming, being served and leaving while we were still waiting empty handed and wondering why. After 45 minutes we asked how long it would take, and the waitress rudely said “sorry it’s the grill”…whatever that means. The grill is visible and the guy had actually ben grilling only chicken, ignoring our order... 10 more minutes, we solicited again and she finally thought she would ask the man at the grill. 1 hour in, we were finally served a small, very oily and salty piece of fish. No apology either. I would have ignored the bad service if the food was amazing as the reviews said, but it was mediocre. While we were eating, another couple was seated right next to us, no distancing whatsoever. The tables are very small. Great job, in a pandemic 👌

Totally waste of time. Staff were super rude. Like I've never seen something like that. When complained about the order that took more than 30min and not received yet, the waiter just ignored and claimed that it's not his business. It was not even being prepared. When we decided to leave after that, he just waive with his hand with a very rude gesture as well. So bad as a service. On top of that the place is really small and we got our clothes smells bad after being inside.

Long line outside the restaurant. When you order for take-away, you can skip. We ordered a grilled chicken and it was delicious. Moist on the inside, nice char on the outside. Great flavor, a repeat! Thanks

Honestly per dollar and experience a good time. Shared seating, drinks flow easily and food selection is great. Also open late! Fresh buns provided with a choice of dips and spreads

This place is a gem and a hidden secret of Lisbon, serving authentic Portuguese food, it's a dated establishment standing the test of time ( and COVID ). Sit at the bar, talk to the waiters, food is great and cheap and definitely try the chicken with their home made peri peri 🤤

I really like this restaurant: it's located in the heart of the city and is very nice. If you are looking for some posh place, this is not the right one. Here you eat like a local! Prices are affordable and quality of food is good but it's not a romantic restaurant where to dine on your anniversary. Personally I had cod fish served with potatoes and vegetables and the plate was delicious. Even the wine was quite good and I am Italian.... I recommend this restaurant if you are in Lisbon and wanna eat like a local.

not as good as it looks. A grill stand at the window but grilling some not fresh seafood. 1. Seafood rice, used fake seafood stick. Prawn cut in half from middle to make it look more. And give a crab arm to fill in the number. 2. Octopus is actually squid tentacles as they are cheaper, even reheated it was served cold with some kebab salad. 3. Cod is a hell no. Smells attracts flies and very salty. In the end they gave some egg tart but even those were reheated and soggy. Nothing wrong with service but just none of the typical dish taste any good. Feels like lower end of street food quality but restaurant price.

This restaurant was recommended by my airbnb tenant. We tried it on our first day of arrival in Lisbon. We did not have high expectation, but we were really (positively) surprised. From the exterior, the restaurant looks like busy local not-fancy restaurant. The service was simple and a bit slow, but the grilled fishes we had were really really good (the grilled grouper is a must). Now, their steak not so good (rubbery and dry). Overall, if you want good grilled fish for an affordable place, Casa da India is for you

A hidden treasure in Lisbon, one of the best places to have proper homemade Portuguese food. Though the first impression of the restaurant is not the best or what one would expect, but the place is very welcoming, the food is mind blowing especially the sea food and is definitely worth trying it when in Lisbon. The prices are very much reasonable and the service is very friendly, they tried to accommodate all our questions and wishes and they’ve done it quick. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Lisbon. Waffled between 3 vs 4 stars to rate this restaurant but finally decided the chourico assado was so bad that even if the other two dishes we ordered were good, they had to take a hit on that. Then service was also bad, I had to dock them another star for that. I say still worth a try but expect to be frustrated with service and the food, depending on what you order of course, might not make up for it.

Very nice food. We had grilled octopus and I highly recommend it. Very nice potato’s. Place is loud and crowded so not a good spot for a romantic dinner. Food was great and sangria was delicious.

It's a true local corner, where waiters meets regulars with a smile and have longer chit chats. The crowd was very diverse- office people in suits, construction workers, retired people and a couple of tourists like me. I ordered 2 starters, which was very filling: muscles with wine and corriander +shrimps in garlic butter. Both tasted very nice, nothing to add .

One of the best place for typically local food. Best grilled chicken in town, juicy and full of taste - also for great take away. Also the Cadelhinas are awesome. And the people and the service at Casa da India very friendly!

This place has its own portuguese character, is not one of those tourist trap restaurants. Good food, fast service, reasonable prices. If you go around 5 or 6pm there is no wait, we went twice and got a table right away by the window. Small glass of beer is $1euro!

Great authentic seafood experience. I've tryed several other restaurants in that area. But here I loved the atmosphere. The service was always kind and helpful to chose the right out of the menue. I've had a kind if ceggie soup with oil and bread (good starter), raisor clams (very intense taste but I loved it) and octopus (very tender and delicious). All meals were very delicious and authentic. The deserts to be honest were very sweet (too suggary). Ehich was very pitty. I've had the milk rice pudding. The taste without or very less siggar would had been great. But to be fair, the service warned me for the sweet taste. So overall this is so far my favorit restaurant, and I will visit it definatly every time sgain, when I'm in Lisbon. It makes my life just mutch easier knowing to have a comfortable cosy place where I get great dinner for reasonable prices.

Foods are absolutely one of the best, impressed me by their fish and potatoes. Should definitely try it. However the service is a bit nonchalant, one of the lady even pry up my chair by her backside while she walk pass by.. But it’s innocuous.

Go! We’ve been in Lisboa 4 weeks now and have walked past this place several times. After reading some negative reviews we decided to pass. Well, today we were running out of places to eat and decided to give it a try. Not sure what others were complaining about. Food was wonderful, service was great, price was right. They charcoal grill the meat/fish in the front window. Mainly locals eating there, a good sign. The 1/2 order of chicken is half a chicken with seasoned rice and fries for €7,50. Wonderful. We’re going to try and go again before we leave this wonderful city.

Top quality Portuguese food. We have ordered octopus and squid(the second pic) grilled, they were perfect cooked with really taste side vegetables. They could be a bit more welcoming but the food experience is amazing

Simple but great. The food is outstanding, service is great — and this is a small place run by and visited by local people. Doesn’t get much better than this if you’re looking for a place that delivers the ultimate local experience in Lisbon. Super friendly staff, and turn around is quick too.

Looks good and tastes even better! The saltiness of this corvina fish was a pure perfection. Just thinking of it makes me want more... You should definitely taste it!

Typical portuguese food. Frango with arroz & chips 👌🏽 Place is tight.. barely room to navigate making it seem really busy although only a couple of people in the restaurant. Price is nice! 👏

Local restaurant with good prices and giant portions (I guess a person should order half, not one). We ordered sardinhas (sardines), conelho (rabbit), and bbq chicken (grilled, really). Delicious flavors.
