Wow! The empanadas here were amazing! I originally ordered at the nearby Thai take-away but it was gonna be 30min for my food (they’re busy which is a good thing. I’ll rate them later) So I went for a little walk and ran into Union right across from Quattro Teste/Resturante São Cristónão. Its reminiscent of a Parisian alley sprinkled w/ so many hidden gems 🤩 All the surrounding restaurants have great ratings but this spot allows you to people watch while looking cool. 😎 Apparently the actual restaurant just reopened on 1/22/22. It seems to be like a café style now. I ordered the mushroom and tomato empanadas 🤤 it was soooo good! Totally worth the steep hill u walk down and narrow roads. Lol! I’ll certainly be back.

What's not to like: sitting on stools at tables mounted on those posts that try to discourage cars from mounting the footpath? The delicious empanadas? The friendly staff? The prices? Well, the answer of course is "none of the above". I've already been back, and I expect to be back again.

If you’re not afraid of cars passing by very closely, you can really enjoy this place with some nice beer and empanadas. Still, the spicy veal could be spicier.

The empanadas are SO good. We ate here on our first day, and then went back again a couple days later for more! I recommend the spicy pork and the chicken empanadas. Their iced coffee is amazing, and they have milk alternatives(!!). We got their iced lattes both times, and they were fantastic. The staff is so nice and welcoming as well. 10/10 recommend.

Certainly a must go! Great food for a great price with an atmosphere to die for. The service was impeccable and it was made sure that our every desire was met despite the low price. It fits right into the beautiful neighborhood and creates a welcoming atmosphere! Wheelchair accessibility should be no problem and guests are offered a clean , fully functional restroom! I recommend the spicy veal!

Cute little restaurant in a very nice and quiet street. They even have a large open « window » so you can sit and watch the street directly. The food (empanadas) is very tasty, and the waiter was so friendly. They have a large choice for vegeterian and vegans, and for fair prices. I highly recommend to visit here!

Loved their empanadas - a highlight of our time in Lisbon. The whole street is very cute, full of nice bars and smaller restaurants, and sitting in their window eating empanadas was a great way to spend some time in the late afternoon. We ordered the spicy veal, the sweet potato, and the corn and cheese empanadas - they were all great. My fave was the corn. We also had a mint tea and fresh ginger juice, both were delicious and refreshing. Definitely recommend!!

I discovered this place just walking around the area and I’m really glad for it. INCREDIBLE homemade empanadas and fresh smoothies and juices. Really nice decoration with typical Lisbon tiles! High recommended. Stop for a drink and a snack if you are around there!

I wish I could be back there. Amazing empanadas, service, drinks! They are freshly made so expect to wait 15 minutes after ordering for them to arrive. They are perfectly crisp with delicious dough and the inside is perfectly warm and gooey. The drink options are fantastic as well with juices, smoothies, teas, and cocktails. It was the freshest mojito I’ve ever tasted with them ensuring the mint was dispersed across all the cocktail and not just in leaf chunks. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are so friendly and helpful as well!

Portugal was my last stop on my Eurotrip where I did not have much luck finding cold brewed coffee, so when I saw it advertised on the window I rushed inside. I live in Chicago, where I can get pretty excellent cold brew and yet this was one of the best cold brews I have ever had, and my first ever shaken cold brew, which really added a lot to it. I liked it so much that as soon as I finished it, I went back and ordered another one. Everything on the menu looked good, the place is really cute with its Wes Anderson vibe and the service was amazing. Highly recommend!

Empanadas! In the area of Castelo de S. Jorge, great place to stop. I really liked the bifana too and as desert the famous Alfajor with dulce de leche. Delicious

Super friendly José and his colleague served up a huge dose of warmth and friendliness along with a side of handmade spicy veal and spicy pulled pork empanadas in a cheerful, stylishly rustic bar that also has a choice of refreshing sangrias, cocktails and cold drinks. Accents of pale aqua on the window sills and stools round off this chilled spot on R. São Cristóvão. Great spot for people watching.

Start your morning, or anytime for a quick bite at this incredible adorable pastry shop featuring among other things — you guessed it — empanadas. They have several different kinds, spinach, cheese, beef, along with other delectable cookies and bites. And she makes a killer cappuccino. This is one of the shops in this small neighborhood that make the area a joy to hang out, talk to new friends, and just soak up the zeitgeist of Lisbon. Definitely worth your stop. I highly recommend this two block neighborhood. I started my morning coffee here, explored Lisbon, had lunch somewhere else, but returned here every night for drinks, dinner, and fado. This was the sweetest place to land in Lisbon. Check out my Google reviews of these neighborhood joints: Cantinho do Aziz, O Trigueirinho, Union Empanadas, Tasqinha Canto do Fado, O Velho Eurico, and Leitaria Moderna. There are other places including an Italian restaurant and a gelato shop. You cannot go wrong staying in this area. The people were friendly, inviting, with big smiles and bigger laughs. I will come back.

Fantastic empanadas! And what a great spot to just hang out for a bit. Honestly I think the bifana (pulled pork sandwich) was my favorite, but the empanadas were all fresh and delicious as well. Plus, unbeatable view of the Historic Giant Plant -- the gem of Lisbon.

The food is absolutely amazing, really really tasty, not expensive at all and really qualitative. The personal is super friendly and professional and the overall atmosphere is so pleasant and authentic. Definitely check it out while in Lisbon. Try their sangria, it is the tastiest I had in Lisbon!

Great start to our trip to Lisbon! We had the pork sandwich (bifana) and empanadas (we chose mushroom and cheese) and they were delicious! We then took an iced mint tea and pastry home with us on the recommendation of others eating there.

Deliciously tasty empanadas made with loving care by owners Joao & Elysia. This small casual establishment is tastefully decorated and quite welcoming. Varied choices of empanadas, veg, meat, chicken, cheese, therefore something for everyone. The ginger infused cocktails are excellent. If you’re a foodie (or not) UNION PORTUGAL is an absolute must during your visit to Lisboa.

We had a stop here whilst on a street art tour with Igor from Street Buddha. What a find - best empanadas ever and quite a few different fillings. You must try the chimchurri sauce with them. The ginger juice was great and very refreshing. We even finished with a glass of ginjah. Highly recommend.

A very beautiful and sweet place with best empanadas and great ginger drink. It's really difficult to resist from taking a picture of the place and have a small chat with charismatic owner. Totally recommend. (don't forget to ask for a spicy sauce. It's very simple but amazingly tasty)

The food in this place was great. We recommend doing the menu from the website. The owner/chef handmade and invented all the tapas and drinks. He was telling us passionately about all the food, ingredients and backstories how he came up with the recipes. The drinks were great as well and plenty. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Highly recommend! Awesome people, great food, good price ;-) my wife ordered 2 different baked dumplings, I - bifana. Both dishes was perfectly seasoned and I was full after that. We also ordered sangrias which was freshly prepared. The staff was very helpful with making order. So far, the best place to eat in Lisbon we were. We will definitely come back at the first opportunity! :-)

Union Portugal was among my favorite discoveries in Lisbon! Situated on a charming little street up on a hill it is more than worth the trek! The empanadas are hot and tasty and the ginger, lime, rum concoction was divine. Everything is made with care and an attention to detail! The decor is beautiful and inviting and makes you feel like you want to stay, hang out and watch the world go by. The real secret weapon of Union though, are the owners. They and charming, friendly and knowledgeable. If you are lucky enough to strike up a conversation with them you understand why this little spot up on the hill has such a great vibe. After your empanadas have a coffee and one of their delicious buttery, melt in your mouth cookies. Union Portugal is a must when you are in Lisbon! Enjoy!!!

(Translated by Google) Very friendly and efficient waitress, on the other hand, the prices are poorly displayed and expensive on the bill, the cocktails seem alcohol-free or very little, and the empanadas are ordinary and I doubt they are home even if they are cooked on square. If they are, they are missed, we only feel the dough. Let’s not talk about Port, ordinary, transferred to a bottle without a label so that we do not see its provenance, at 6 euros for a shot glass. Tourist trap.

(Translated by Google) A very amazing place! Small store, dim candle lights, very bluish atmosphere, walls with metal plates with distorting effect ... a very relaxed atmosphere. The empanadas are really good, you have about 6 choices if I'm not mistaken. They are a bit expensive (3 euros each) but the experience is worth it. The manager is also really super friendly and will not hesitate to chat with you.
