A cool little museum showing the history of health and pharmaceuticals in Portugal. I noticed they had a recent addition showcasing the Sputnik vaccine from Russia. Nicely presented with write ups in both English and Portuguese. May be a little boring for kids as it is not interactive. We did not buy tickets in advance and simply paid on the door. Free for kids under 12. 4 Euro for students and regular price 6 Euro.

Sensationell!!

A very cool little museum with some neat artifacts from historical pharmacies. Definitely worth a visit, even if you read all of the signs, it's about 2 hours tops. Definitely not kid friendly, geared wholly to adults despite the entry price options. There is also a cafe, which I didn't eat at, but looked very photogenic and not crowded. Overall, definitely spend an hour or two here, if nothing else it's out of the sun and you might learn a little!

A 5000 year journey through the history of pharma from the amulets of Egypt,to the Romans, middle Ages, famous expeditions to the North Pole and all the way to the modern age. On the ground floor you will see various pharmacies from the conventual to a Chinese one, labs and pill making machinery. Found very interesting the part on Odette Ferreira a famous scientist who worked on AIDS and on promoting single use syringes for drug users and how she fought against the societal norms. Greatly enjoyed the visit and the guide was great, she brought all of the items to life! And if you are tired after all the visiting you can go down to the restaurant/terrace for a drink and bite and a great view over the river.

Worst museum ever. Ticket officer is busy with her own stuff on the phone ignore people in front of her for few minutes. Security guard is also rude as well at noon on Wednesday. No wonder there's no tourists at all. Why bother open the door if you don't want us to come?

Such an interesting place! It tells you the evolution of the trade in different parts of the world. It is very eye-opening and it makes you thankful for living in such a modern era with access to modern medication. I have been to Lisbon so many times but had never visited this museum. I highly recommend it. You can finish the tour in the terrace with a nice drink and great view.

It is a very nice museum. It could have been more in detailed but still it is educative and amusing. there are 2 floors, which the first is correspondent to the Portuguese history of pharmacy mainly and the oriental influence. In the second floor there is a historical journey of pharmacy from its very beginning of cave men to discovery of Penicillin.

Pharmacy Museum was a nice thing to see in Lisboa. It is interesting to see how everything changed. Small one, but you have screens with videos about exponents in museum, so it is very educational.

Small, but well-curated museum at a very reasonable price. Good to stop by on an afternoon. I really liked the life size pharmacy interiors from different areas around the world and inclusion of artifacts from other cultures. Clean bathrooms as well!

The best Pharmacy Museum I've seen so far!!! The Pharmacy Museum in Lisabon is huge and you can see artifacts from the Paleozoric era to the equipment that is used by astronauts in space. The space exhibition was one of my favorites, however I'm sure everyone visiting the place would find the different pharmacy displays throughout time fascinating! If you're passionate about pharmacy or you are a fellow pharmacist this museum is for you!

Interesting museum. It took us around an hour to go through it reading most of the information. Although there is plenty of information for English speakers, there are a few parts that are not translated (neither on youtube or in the pdf). However, you learn some nice facts about the evolution of medicine and pharmacy.

  • 5/5 Dani W. 6 years ago on Google
A great collection of pharmacy, health and medicine related items from all over the world and especially European countries. Enough to see to easily spend one or several hours. Several very nicely reconstructed whole pharmacy rooms from different eras. I can't remember the admission price unfortunately, but this museum is included in the Lisboa Card. One drawback is that only some of the text panels about the history of pharmaceutics and medicine are translated into English. Sometimes you can get the gist by pointing the camera at the text panels in the Google Translate app. Most of the displayed items' labels are in both Portuguese and English, thankfully.

Well we didn't go to the museum but we had a couple of drinks in the garden. Very nice place to have a few drinks a good gin & tonic selection on the menu card. The only negative part there are no sun shades, so bring enough sun creme when enyoing your drinks. Funny detail all the drinks are based on medicine names and you get your bill in a pill bottle.

The visit to this museum was a very positive surprise, very informative and objects so carefully displayed, up to tiny details. If interested in medical history and pharmacy, it is a must-see in Lisbon. The location is also wonderful, close to the Mirodouro de Santa Caterina.

We visited the restaurant attached to this place. The food is absolutely beautiful and very well presented. The staff are just wonderful and pleasant and efficient. They are an asset to your business. For families with young infants they have high chairs here, which is a rarity in Lisbon for some reason. Would highly recommend this place.

As a pharmacy muzeum very nice, but I was looking more medical history, unfortunetly there was few things… Plus most of the exhibiton was in portuguese, and that is a poor fact for people speaking english. Very interesting was facts about cosmonaut medical equipment. Average visit time is 45 min.

The ticketing employee lady charges 6€ for adult ticket in cash and doesn't give any printed ticket or a receipt!! How would you know that she is not just taking the money in her pocket? When I asked her about a receipt or ticket, she said NO Ticket Thank you! What's this?!

We went for a field trip with 10 - 12 year old international students. Our tour guide happened to also be the Director, and he was captivating. The students enjoyed the artifacts and the stories behind the advancements in medicine. I would definitely go back.

It's not very big, but the exhibition has quite a few interesting pieces. The antique pharmacy interiors are beautifully preserved, complete with shelves full of ornate ceramic containers. It's also very close to one of Lisbon's viewpoints and it has a nice outdoor terrace with food and drinks next to it; win-win!

This museum (established in 1996 in a residence dating from the 1870s) has an extraordinary collection of over 14 000 objects from around the globe: Egyptian sarcophagi, Roman ceramics, Tuscan pottery and Congolese statuettes. It also displays reconstructions of 15C-19C pharmacies, the most striking of which is a 19C Chinese example, which was still operating in Macao until 1996

(Translated by Google) I enjoyed visiting the Museum, and it was worth visiting. It is to have a notion in the domain of knowing-knowing and knowing-reading how the old medicinal & therapeutic methods are used to cure diseases and relieve pain. And when using old pharmaceutical supplements, in the case of plants, tobacco, and certain liquids to promote side effects. Continuation of good work, Have a good. (Original) Gostei de visitar o Museu, e valeu a pena de visitar. É para termos noção no domínio de saber-saber e saber-ler como se utiliza os antigos métodos medicinais & terapêuticos para curar as doenças e aliviar a dor.
