What an unwelcoming overpriced place! :/ Walked in here mid afternoon for a beer with a friend. We were left to wait because we said we were in just for a drink, but it was only 1 table occupied anyway as it was not regular meal times. After checking with someone in the kitchen and getting back to us, the waitress "allowed" us to seat, but at this point it already felt like they were doing us a favor. Not cool. The menu is ridiculously overpriced. Ordered a craft beer that cost about double as it would anywhere else. While sipping the beer I could see staff in the kitchen not only not wearing masks, but at some point vigorously licking a serving spoon. I'm positive that spoon didn't make it back to the pot, but this is not something customers need to be seeing while sitting at the restaurant. But the worst came at the end, when the waitress added 5% service charge automatically to our bill - not only tip was not deserved after such a straight face and rude vibe, this is actually ILLEGAL here in Portugal. Maybe tourists fall for this thinking 5% is not that much, but locals know this is no good. This is exactly the kind of place that makes Lisbon's restaurant scene stink. A tourist trap that sells expensive food but labels it as "genuine street food" to sound cool.

Tourists trap. Its overpriced, charge a service fee of 5% (wich is illegal at least in Portugal), The owner is arrogant, it has everything to avoid going there. Any restaurant around is cheaper. The food is good.

Went there for lunch 2 times. The first time was ok, then second time the chef messed up our order — twice. We were sitting outside so I realized he was the one taking smoke breaks. When he came to talk to us, he was arrogant, and he wouldn’t react to my Arabic when I tested him. So I asked the waitress where the owners are from. That’s when I realized it’s an Israeli owned restaurant. Usually I wouldn’t have a huge problem with this except it’s advertised as vaguely Middle Eastern, and there is a sense that they are hiding Israeli-owned identity from customers. The food wasn’t terrible, but I would never go there again for the unapologetic incompetence I experienced there the second time

The place could have the potential to become a hotspot for Israeli cuisine - if food quality matched prices. For - 4 Falafel (fresh, good texture but too greasy), - a small bowl of hummus (didn’t taste as if it was made this morning, and too cold, should be lukewarm) - Zhug (which was the best part) - and pita bread (tasted shrink-wrapped, conserved bread, definitely not freshly baked) I paid €17 Euros or 70 Shekel. I’d be happy to pay that or more for proper Israeli food. However, this place as it is wouldn’t survive in Tel Aviv for more than 2 weeks. With improvements in the kitchen it has great potential because seating outside is nice and the interior looked stunning, almost felt like in Yerusalem or Yafo.

Really enjoyed sharing a mezze plate. Lovely sidewalk seating near the French embassy and Igreja de Santos-o-velho. Food was fresh and well prepared. Service was friendly and attentive. Our server also spoke English. Prices and portions were reasonable. Food was flavorful and fresh, but not spicy. I would recommend this cafe for a casual, Middle Eastern/Israeli option in Lisbon.

We passed this lovely spot many times before stopping to get a bite. And glad we finally did! Great Israeli fare with all your favorite dishes. The place is also immaculate - a two hundred year old gem. Friendly staff too! Will come back :)

I came here twice in one week. It is a gorgeous restaurant with a wonderful set of staff who are vibrant and convivial and the atmosphere is only made better by the food quality. I love Israeli cuisine and this is authentic, unique and worth making the time to enjoy. The owner makes time to speak to customers and his dry sense of humour makes for a fun meal. I'lIl be back every time l'm in Lisbon. Get the pita bread - it comes from Israel direct. Get the chocolate mousse - it's divine.

small nice atmosphere restaurant! I came for a dinner here with a friend and it was my first time having Israeli dish. we shared the meals and it was very nice but just a pity they don’t have Israeli drinks.

Middle Eastern cuisine, big menu all natural ingredients and taste (Sauces, spreads/ hearty dishes and dips, yummy drinks) . Indoor and outdoor seating, walking distance from a 300-500m bus stop. We give this experience a 4.5 out of 5.

I really loved the food that I ordered and it’s nice to have a middle eastern restaurant in the neighborhood. I didn’t like how the owner treated his employees. He was constantly yelling at them from the kitchen and it made me feel so uncomfortable I ate my food as fast as I could so I could leave. I wonder if he can give his employees feedback more quietly in the future so the guests can enjoy their meal without having to feel bad for the staff?

Lovely ambience, situated in a very beautiful street with outdoor seating! We were craving for fresh, creative middle east food and this was a perfect pick! A bit on a pricier side but taste absolutely compensated the whole experience. Welcoming staff and the owner who came over for a chat. Thanks for having us!

Excellent place for vegetarians. The aubergine were very good but it's the shakshuka that blew our minds. So delicious we wanted to order another one. There is a wide range of choice of drinks too with pastis for example. The service was slightly slow and a few mistakes happened because we were a large group. Overall it was quite expensive.

Exceptional. Wildly exceeded our expectations. Lovely interior and top notch service from Sweta, which I hope I’m spelling correctly. Highly recommend the falafel which compares to the best you’d find anywhere, including Israel. The chicken and hummus dish and the watermelon, tomato, mint, and feta salad rounded out our meal. The very talented kitchen staff has hit the nail on the head when it comes to these middle eastern flavors. They seriously know what they’re doing back there. We’ll likely visit again while on this trip to try some other things from their menu. Don’t skip it!

Walking while hungry is a marvelous way to discover hidden gems, and Yallah was a wonderful discovery. The atmosphere and service is lovely, but the food? Unreal. We got the Mediterranean vegetables, lamb pita and chicken pita and they were DELICIOUS. The way they cook and season their meats is delicious, and the salad was very heavily seasoned in the best way possible. Highly recommend a visit!

We had an American waiter who moved here to play football. He was helpful and shared travel advice. The food was just as good looking as the pictures and if I were to come back I would get a salad as that was truly special and then add some hummus and pita bread. Everything was good though even desert. Great place.

It was a wonderful experience. The food was solid, hummus was to die for, though I wish they would provide pita with the hummus as you have to pay per order of pita. It is a bit pricey but the atmosphere and quality of the food makes up for it.

My 1 year old and I arrived in Lisboa around 18:30, hungry for something healthy and nearby, we found this spot just by walking by, the shop is inviting even for someone on their own. The food was lovely and fresh and the service was efficient.

Two vegetarians, one vegan, one meat-eater, all happily satisfied and satiated at Yallah...just roll us down the hill to our hotels after that absolutely delicious and filling meal! Lovely staff, helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is wonderful, an eclectic mix of music, comfortable chairs and bench, beautiful brick ceiling and tile typical to Portuguese style. Would recommend warmly and heartily.

The most Beautiful (and Lovely) Host! The food was incredible (especially the Selek Dip!), the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming! All of the foods were packed full of flavour and there were many Vegan options to choose from. I would also recommend the Calamari style dish. We would definitely come back!!

Delicious food but quite pricy for what it is. Also there's a sneaky 5% service charge added to all bills but highlighted as "optional". I assume the majority of people, like me, still pay to avoid looking cheap - that said it's great practised in a country where tips are not custom.

Yalla is a great middle eatern restaurant. In Europe, it is definitely one of the best I ate in (and since I adore midlle eastern food I sit in them a lot). The Shakuska is great, Falafel and Pitas are amazing, and highly recommend the Baba Ganush dish and the Arabic salad. All and all, great colinar experience. Highly recommended.

Friendly service, excellent English spoken by staff which was helpful. Had a table by the open window which was lovely. Small, stylish interior. We had help choosing dishes and as non- meat eaters managed to have enough food that we couldn't actually finish! Chose the mixed mezze dips with falafel and shakshuka with feta, which were all fresh and delicious. Finishes with fresh mint tea. Highly recommend.

In a hot afternoon, this restaurant felt like an oasis in a Lisbon full of civil works. Fresh, joyful, good meat, salads and hummus. Interesting décor of plants inside a wall looking like unfinished. Small tables. A little of waiting time for a pleasant conversation with my partner.

  • 4/5 Di C. 1 year ago on Google
Would have given it a 5 star had we not arrived last minute and they had ran out of some drinks. Our fault, I admit but if kitchen is open and food was allowed, it's sad no drinks. Having said that, the food was as authentic as it gets, fresh ingredients and maximum yum, wish they served pita with their mezze platter instead of having to order them separately. Staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back at a decent time.

We were in Lisbon for 4 days and we made time to visit this restaurant twice (we are just grateful we discovered it early on!). The food and cocktails are delicious, the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated (sitting outside in the sun while eating zingy, minty tabbouleh was a definite highlight) and the cocktails were extremely refreshing. We had pittas on our second trip and hummus with sausage on our first. It was all fabulous. We are just sad we couldn’t take this place back to England with us. We hope to be back, someday!

Tried regular shakshuka and yallah in pita – just fine, not very special, but the portions were really small and I would say overpriced.

We had a great lunch at Yallah and would 100% recommend for great middle eastern food in Lisbon - we had two salads, hummus, pita and kebab and it was all really great. Super good quality food and friendly service and although the prices are perhaps a bit higher than usually in Portugal, it’s definitely worth it.

If you find yourself strolling down the street and wonder if you should stop, the answer is yes. Delicious food, wonderful service and if you speak English, very English language friendly. Great atmosphere too.

  • 3/5 Simul S. 2 years ago on Google
The food is good, but too much expensive. The lemonade juice ridiculously 4 cubes of ice in little glass and it cost 4 Euros, nothing especial. Another very important issues is, I found them by searching Arabian restaurants, so I was expecting the meat should be Halal meat as they are using Islamic name called "Yallah" but its not Halal, they were not even mention. Hippocrates! Thumbs Down. Positive I have to say the Interior environment is really good, its great place for being friend or date. The waiter service was also good.

  • 2/5 Sämir E. T. 4 years ago on Google
It’s a cozy place, BUT it’s too pricey, especially in Portuguese standards. I was charged almost 11€ for a vegetarian salad and a single glass of sparkling water, and the service wasn’t the best. So I can’t really recommend it.

We were a little skeptical to visit Yallah after having eaten a lot of mediocre Middle Eastern food in Lisbon. Yallah didn’t disappoint - in fact it was amazing. The mezze platter was enough for four, with exceptional hummus and baba ganoush. We loved that the pita was whole wheat.

This neighbourhood stretching from santos to lapa has an increasing number of excellent restaurants. Yallah is a fantastic addition. Yallah has just reopened in a new location but now it's back and it's better than ever! The new restaurant is in a beautiful old building, stripped back to expose its ancient charm, with more space, a bigger kitchen, and far more comfortable seating. But the food remains outstanding, as ever.

Top notch mezze in Lisbon. We were in a mood for some falafel and stumbled upon this place (thanks Google!). WOW! What a find!! It’s a small place but literally everything we picked on the menu was absolutely delicious. They also have plenty of vegetarian options which worked well for us. Plus they have nice beverage options e.g. Orange Juice with coriander and chili, fresh lemonade with mint, etc. I have eaten plenty of mezze before, and Yallah ranks among the top 5 for me. If you go, don’t miss the falafel, beet root dip and pumpkin dip. Yummy!
