THE GIRAFFE An object of worship and fascination for visitors, the Giraffe (in the mirror) - on a natural scale, painted in a neutral, almost white color - is the mark of the identity of the Ulysses Gardens, where it is located, or even, its secret. The presence of the mirror materializes its global metaphorical meaning. Fernanda Fragateiro was born in Montijo in 1962. She studied at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa and began exhibiting her work in 1981, developing a diversified artistic practice. Since then, he has been concerned with intervening with his work in public places (a fact that can be seen in the short film “Lugares Perfeitos”), thus not limiting himself to the usual places of exhibition. His projects range from sculpture and installation, to interventions in public spaces, illustration and collaborations in architecture or landscaping projects.

Excellent work of art located in a very pleasant area, the Water Gardens. It was recently recovered (2017) but they removed the mirror that was placed in front of the giraffe and which was part of the work, other than that it looked very good as the statue was already somewhat vandalized.

Magnificent park near the aquarium, in the Oriente district. A beautiful white giraffe 🦒, noticeably narcissistic, hides under the palm trees 🌴

What a great and interactive statue that allows children and adults to remember to be goofy and curious. And it's great for taking pictures because of the gardens and fountain that surround it, besides the sculpture itself, of course. I highly recommend it!

Never understood the fuss about thus giraffe. My son loved playing in the area though. And the park itself is nice.

The presence of the mirror materializes its global metaphorical meaning. Portuguese Artist: Fernanda Fragateiro. The garden is publicly accessible, made up of many palm trees and flowering bushes, as well as a reflecting pool. It's worth visiting! That's awesome! Just 8 minutes walk from Oriente Station. The Giraffe is a sculpture in resin, a work made by the Portuguese artist Fernanda Fragateiro. Located in Ulisses Garden in Parque das Nações. The access to the garden is public. It is a very nice garden with palm trees. It's worth the visit!
