I’ve seen the poor rating of this hospital and I’m a bit lost for words. I have been to Hospital da Luz for 2 days in a row, and all I can say is amazing, from the moment you walk in, until you leave. The reception is good, each and every staff member I interacted with was polite, informed and professional. The service was on time and I was very satisfied with the whole operation of this hospital. I highly recommend

I called asking for a test and they told me to come in. They didn't tell me it was an er visit and they charged me ER prices. A normal checkup ended up costing almost a thousand euro. Do not go here

I visited the gynecology department of this hospital while I was traveling abroad for 3 months. I came in for severe pelvic pain that I had been dealing with for two weeks. Everything was good here on the surface and seemed thorough and clean. They tested my urine, did a sexual health swab, and performed a pelvic ultrasound. The doctor said she didn’t find anything wrong and my ultrasound looked completely normal. I paid around €120 for my visit. After I left I was unable to see the results of my urine culture because the app would not show me my results without authenticating my identity through whatsapp and the customer service whatsapp just stopped answering me. Once I got home to the USA, I was still having severe pelvic pain (I left my trip early due to pain) so I went to my gynecologist at home. They did another pelvic ultrasound and called me the same day to tell me I have a huge cyst on my right ovary. The doctor said it was impossible to miss and explains all my symptoms. Not sure how the doctor at this hospital sent me away saying everything was normal, but I would not spend my money here again. Because of the negligence or mistakes of this hospital I was in pain for 3 extra weeks with no idea what was wrong with me.

The commercial attitude is very evident and inappropriate. Bad management! Poor internal communication between the administrative and medical staff. Next time, I'd rather go to another hospital where I feel like a Patient and not like a Customer!! A lot of my relatives and friends are also extremely unsatisfied with Hospital da Luz's services (childbirths, diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis and breast cancer). NOT RECOMMENDED.

I've been going to Hospital da Luz for over 2 years and I've never had a bad situation happen. My care has been excellent by every type of doctor I've seen. I even had a minor surgery where I had to go under and it went amazing (and only 250 with my insurance!). I live an hour away but still come here for all my appointments because I've been to CUF and other places and was not happy with the staff at all. Totally recommend.

Great space and quality of infrastructure. the only down side is that the appointments last 5 to 10 min. It's like a factory and the doctors are always rushing to finish the appointment not always taking proper look at the pacient. However overall it's a positive review as all private hospitals these days work like this

Like most other people, my grievance is with rude, incompetent and unrepentant reception staff. I was waiting for one hour for an appointment in a waiting room I was specifically directed to by reception staff. After one hour they came to say that was the wrong place and to go to another waiting area in which (another) receptionist said I would have to wait for at least another hour for my appointment. No apologies, no recognition that I might be a human being with job, children and everything else that gets bumped because of incompetence of administrative personnel. Not to mention that I have a health issue that remained untreated because I could not afford another hour of waiting. That was two hours of my life irrevocably wasted by Hospital da Luz with no apology.

They charge a high price for poor service. I will say their emergency service is quite good but upon returning I had major issues. I had to return to the hospital after leaving with my prescription because the doctor forgot to sign a certain piece of the paper, wasting a huge amount of my time. On my following visit, I tried to communicate regarding my condition and the treatment plan we had agreed upon but she refused to proceed because she did not have the knowledge necessary to be able to help me. She even attempted to prescribe me antipsychotic medicine designed for schizophrenics which I am not. Yet they charged me again, over $100. I advise anyone who values their time, money, and health to stay far away from here. I concede that perhaps this is an isolated incident, but it reflects poorly upon the institution as a whole. Addendum: Looks aren't everything. The hospital does look amazing and on the surface, I would say it is a 5-star place. Looking back on the previous reviews one of the keywords that showed up most was arrogance. This is the perfect word to describe the sort of institution you are dealing with here.

INSANE WAIT TIMES AND EXPENSIVE. Everything you do here takes 30min to an hour. Every single step. Horribly understaffed and badly managed. Chaotic. Beautiful building and interior but that's where it ends. Waiting rooms are FULL for people coughing everywhere. I am fine with expensive private hospital service. But if you pay €150 for a consult in Portugal you expect to be treated fast. But it's as slow or slower than public hospitals. The only place in the hospital to get coffee and food is one small cafetaria that is also understaffed with a 30 minute queue. Of course card was not accepted so you have to go to ATM which is also a 30 minute wait. Doctors couldn't detect what my girlfriend had and instead fought symptoms with medicine. After visiting CUF Cascais they found it within minutes and solved it! Again wait times are so bad here. We saw people come in for emergencies in insane pain that were not helped, and had to wait for hours. This is third world country stuff, not Europe! Don't be fooled by Luz great looks, it's rotting from inside! 2/10

(Translated by Google) The worst experience in the health field I have ever had in my life. I have lived in 4 countries and they have never treated me so badly. It is not free and they treat you as if they gave you the consultations. I do not recommend it in life. I highlight the lack of empathy, human quality, gift of people among other things of the reception and surveillance staff. The doctor who treated me was kind, as were a couple of patients (the one who received me for the ultrasound study and the one who took the samples for the analysis), but the rest was FATAL. (Original) La peor experiencia en el campo de la salud que he tenido en mi vida. He vivido en 4 países y jamás me habían atendido tan mal.

It is a beautiful place, but that’s it. Everything else is utterly terrible and badly managed. Procedures are chronically delayed. I came in for a simple exam today and the machines didn’t even work — good luck with anything more complicated. Their check-out and payment system is also a mess, and randomly insist that you pay for services out of pocket because their system’s connection to the health insurance is mysteriously down. There are much better hospitals in Lisbon.

Waiting times are absurd and disrespectful. We never waited less than one hour while arriving always on time. If you decide to give birth to your child here, budget 3x time and money you'd normally expect, and then some. Once, at gynaecology, my 8-month pregnant partner had to wait 3 hours and asked time and again to come back, waiting in a room stacked with likewise pregnant women left to their own devices. For these prices, and from a private hospital, you'd expect much better services. On a bright note, checkup service was a bargain and very professional.

Worst emergency ever. We came because my wife had pain in her stomach and in the emergency room you had to take a ticket to wait in the line, this is normal ok. The thing is not normal is that in the same line they had the tickets for exit and you had to wait people to pay and then to call you. What kind of emergency is this, i am wondering how worse is in the public hospital.

My wife had suffered from severe case of pneumonia where we were getting ready to hospitalized for unknown number of days. We got there on the July 29Th 2023 at 1445 and got forcefully kicked out by midnight middle of the treatment (With IV attached) We were in middle of providing sample after we had spoken to doctors. Room was super cold for my wife it was set at 20.3 (68.5). Since my wife was suffering from fever(40.2) she was going through sweating and freezing phases. I turned up the AC to 25.5 but it was blowing at full blast of cold air still. We kindly asked several nurse even the doctor, if they could turn off the AC or bring a portable heater for her. We Even asked to relocate us. Nurses answered, we can’t do anything, beside get more blanket, we asked for several blankets. The biggest issue I had was the nurse starting ordering my wife things without results from the examination, nurse started screaming at her and yelling out the things in-front of other patients. So I raised a question to him, why are you treating us like this? What have we done wrong? Why are you wanting to take unnecessary sample that we weren’t aware of? what’s going on? What is the plan? What is the issue? Why do we need all these testing? I kindly requested and asked him , were you in the examination room with the doctor? Do you have the results? He answered No - doctor has it. Did you do the testing?- No Are you sure this is out result? - I dont have your result. Are you specialized in this field? - i am nurse. So, I kindly asked him, before you do all this testing, can we have a chat with a doctor please? we will be more comfortable doing the testing after knowing the results. He did so! Just not a pleasant visit for us!

Terrible service by the lady Dr , that refused to do a TC in Covid-19 positive patient with alterations in the pulmonary auscultation and shortness of breath, even when we asked and were disposed to pay whatever. We ended up having to go to another hospital 😤

Initially the hospital was convenient and necessary. But after service which is absolutely essential, is why the 1 star review (and the many terrible reviews you’ll read here). Our daughter had fever, we went to the hospital, doctor saw her, and prescribed additional meds for the fever and a lab test with two results, fast (immediate results) and further more accurate results in a few days. They said they will call us and verified all communication info was correct. The fast results came out negative. After a few days, fever was still persistent, so we want back as previous instructed. We meet with the doctor (another one) and they tell us, did you not get the results for the other test. We said no! No one called us or said anything. Doctor said it was positive and should start antibiotics. Now, these people waited days for fever to worsen without even calling us. We had to go back because it was necessary. And then they don’t even apologize for not communicating, they’re doctors are not about patient care. At least the doctors we met and nurses did not act the way you’d expect from a healthcare professional in any hospital, let alone a private one like this. Avoid if you can.

Hospital takes a big consultation fees but the service is not really great at all...so much of waiting even at the urgent care... What for this big consultation we give.....just for long waiting time and on top of that some rude staff at the reception.Sorry but the hospital is more focused on its infrastructure rather the patient services. And if their system dosent work...they tell you to come again n get the report or bills ..sorry but very disappointing hospital..

Went there for a checkup after covid. Calling: easy, fast, to the point, professional, they spoke English. Urgent visit: clean, modern, looks professional, they spoke English very well. Waiting to get to reception ca 7 min, waiting for doctor ca 1,5 hours, waiting for tests ca 30 min, waiting for results ca 1 h. Waiting to pay ca 5 min. I was lead to everything and were informed of everything and felt very well taken care of. No problem getting blood tests, lab tests, X-ray, all on the same day, right there. Again, perfect English. The waiting after waiting took a lot of energy. Since I had the app, in a perfect world, I should have been able to leave and come back when it was my time but I guess it is too difficult to make that happen in an emergency department where they have to puzzle lots of different people together. I brought sandwich, water and something to do/read so I was ok if a bit exhausted. Feel very confident going back.

It was overall a very pleasant experience! People were very helpful and unlike the other reviews they were all very kind and caring. Most importantly; they all spoke English which was perfect. It is reasonably priced- the doctors were wonderful. However, the reason why I gave 4 stars is the wait time. Our appointment was at 5, however, we were in the doctor's office at 6. I guess, the appointment system could be worked on. Other than that I recommend it :) P.S. We went for a covid check up (for a recovery paper for a flight)

Sadly not a good report here, facilitate and checkin was good. English was well spoken and ticketing system was clear. Unfortunately that was it, went to “urgent” care for my child and during the 4 hour wait we had no communication, when asking about it we got a scripted response on it depends on the gravity of your child. And people walking around very confused why things are taking so long for again “urgent” care. After lots of parents yelling at nurses and overall not a friendly feeling while you try to calm your sick and tired toddler. Personally don’t recommend it here. Doctors was polite but curt and looked overworked

I had an X-ray prescribed by one of their doctors for a possible wrist fracture and they made made me wait for 10 days for the results because "It's the usual delay to write a report". They run this like any other business. You're a client, not a patient. The doctors are good, though.

Hospitalized and unnecessary expensive test that the doctors insisted were necessary and l am still left without a diagnosis, and a hospital bill over 4000€ to be paid in full. Misdiagnosis were also made that required removing organs. The treatment was extremely poor and unprofessional by nursing staff. IV were left in past time causing blood loss and infection. Nurses had terrible attitudes and could not have cared less about my condition. Follow up appointments were made- as I had several test- one of them a life threatening cancer that has a survival rate of only 5 years. I went to two appointments- again paid- only for the doctor to not have the results. She said she would call with the results on January 4th, I’ve called her several times with no call back and it’s been 3 weeks. My experience in public hospitals far exceeds basic human rights vs. this pathetic excuse for a facility. I do not recommend and personally hope that if you ever find yourself in a life threatening situation- cross this facility off your list if you want to get better.

do not recommend, 6 hours to do a blood test and an X-ray and to leave without a proper diagnosis. The doctor clearly had lack of knowledge as she was providing very confusing and not confident feedback. Again 100 euros with insurance, 6 hours for a blood test and an X-ray.

Poor communication of information within the organization of the staff. I had a bill that was just about 190 euros for a treatment. I could not pay this in full so i called a total of 6 times trying to pay it in smaller portions and they would always tell me that they would create a request so that the financial department could deal with it. It was only when I went for my follow up 2 months later, after receiving letter after letter saying that I have 10 days to pay or else they would take it up to their lawyers, that the lady at the front desk told me, after calling her colleague and asking about it, that payments like that could only be done over 200 euros. I had already called 6 times and nobody could have told me this and spared me time and stress? And after knowing this i told her i couldn't pay in full, so she was able to arrange a way for me to pay in parts??? So I couldn't before, but now i can??? Make it make sense! The only reason I didn't give a one star review is because of doctor Bruno Duarte, who was amazing that recommended me a PUBLIC HOSPITAL where I could continue my care for free

This is such a busy hospital, but it really works well. Once you get the notion of the space and learn to navigate in spite of the obvious lack of signage, it is an excellent experience. The staff makes the real difference with a very professional and smiley attitude, but also the general planning is great and the modern architecture with lots of natural light makes a pleasant environment with pleasant acoustics. After several visits over the years, the only place I experience queues is in the cafe.

The doctors are great however today we were given incorrect directions twice from people who work there. The attitudes of the receptionists were dismissive and unhelpful. We arrived for our appointment went and then told it had been cancelled and when they checked the system the message they supposedly sent to us had NOT been sent. The receptionist was extremely unhelpful and unwilling to find a replacement dentist or find a next appointment until the end of the next month. We have taken time off work and lost money to take my son to the hospital. Absolutely outrageous!

This is my second time in this hospital. Both of the times I came without an appointment, as it was urgent, and the service was very nice and friendly, and they found spots for me. (But I think it’s better to have an appointment in advance anyway). Friendly doctors, and front desk staff, all was nice and smooth. It’s very good if you have an insurance, but also fine if not (a bit expensive tho, but I find it worth it). Some of the workers speak English too. Thanks to the staff of Hospital da Luz! All the best, and good health to you!

They have a so called scheduled appointments for doctors and exams. Except the “scheduled” part is not respected and not working. You arrive at the hospital at your scheduled time and go to the right waiting room (don’t pick some other one by mistake - you’ll know after waiting in a line). You take your ticket and wait. Then you’ll know you’re in the right waiting room and will pay for your exam/consultation. And then you will wait for your name, and the waiting time is undefined and does not correspond to your scheduled time. It looks like it’s a live line (first come, first taken), rather than respect for the schedule. And as you’ve already paid - you’ll most likely will wait…

The service at Hospital da Luz is nothing short of abysmal. Putting aside the hours of delays I experience every time I go there, it is completely impossible to even book an appointment with my consultant. I have been trying to book an appointment with my consultant since February 9. I have been seeing the same consultant since October 2021. At my last visit she told me to book an appointment for later this year. - I called to book the appointment and was told appointments with the consultant cannot be booked over the phone and they have to go through the consultants secretary - I opened a support ticket on February 9 requesting to book the appointment with the consultant as advised by the person I spoke to on the phone - On February 16, having had no response, I called the hospital to follow up and was told the secretary of the consultant is not contactable and I will just have to wait until I get a response - I tried to contact the hospital through the contact form on the website but the form does not work and just gives an error message - Today I have received 2 emails from Hospital da Luz, one stating they haven’t been able to respond to my support ticket and if I still want the appointment to contact them again to request it again. The second email states the support ticket has been solved and is now closed. It’s without a doubt the worst service I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitals and healthcare. The service at CUF is infinitely better and I am now trying to see if I can get a referral for a consultant there. Do not waste you time and money at this hospital. UPDATE: I´ve just called the hospital requesting a referral letter for a consultant in CUF, and an appointment magically appeared in my email. However, I had requested an appointment for November, and they have booked an appointment for me in April. It´s comical at this point.

Imagine paying a ton of money in order to wait 3 hours in emergency room without any information and being told to come back the next day and then coming back the next day and being told that the doctor called us but we were gone. The worst private hospital I have ever seen in my whole life.

I don't want to go to this hospital again. The reason is that the hospital is very expensive but they do not take care of the patient. I had to pay 800€ euros for my son in 2 days. But the hospital did nothing for my son. Instead, the government hospital provided better care.

1 out of 3 doctors there that I have consulted treated me like a normal person that goes to them for help. Please be careful if you are foreign. In my case I speak Spanish and English and I try to communicate the best I can in português and I think that is one of the factors that the don't like. I had awful experiences there. One of them told me they don't work for free that that is a private hospital. She misunderstood what I asked ofc I complained with the customer department because that doctor treat ppl very bad. Please be careful I go because I can pay and because I have insurance. But I think I will change the medical center. I hope you have a different experience.

The worst organization. Made for people to waste time in endless receptions. This is a continuing experience over 15 years. I only come back for a checkup every 2 years due to a contract with my employer. I never make any appointment here for personal medical issues. Staff and doctors are friendly and reduce the awfull experience of a poorly managed facility. The lack of a clear map makes a person walk around a huge hospital with no direction among counters and receptions. The cafeteria is a pro-cardiac and pro-diabetes diseases pastry store where two lines are designated in the cashier (one for employees and the other for patients). There is only a pathetic indication in small letters about the lines and most patients waste time taking the wrong line.

To avoid at all costs I’ve had two experiences at this site - one with an appointment in ophthalmology (where the doctor was over 1h30 late), and the other one with the pediatric emergency service. On the website it’s clearly marked that they offer pediatric emergency services on all days, except they don’t. They turned me away with a sick 10 month old with high fever - no general doctor was available to see the baby. The doctors might be ok, but the administrative experience is an expensive nightmare.

She was efficient professional, knowledgeable and spoke good English. She organised a number of blood tests which were taken within 5 minutes. I was told I could ho to cafe as results would take 60-90 minutes. After 1 hour the doctor saw me again, explained results and outlined next steps. Whole experience lasted 3 hours. Expensive but worth it

Their staff are very friendly and most of them speaks English. The doctors that I have been with speaks English and they are more than nice and they always try their best to explain even the small details of the issue. Also, the App My Luz is in English and easy to use. It will let you access many options in your hospital file via any smart devices. Obrigado ☺️ Hospital da Luz

Someone just forgot to send the document in time. I came to the hospital earlier and asked to find my tests results , but unfortunately I finally got the results too late. I found problems in the results, and I even wasn't able to discuss these problems with doctor! Is it so difficult to make things in time?? I suppose it must be really easy

For a back injury I had to wait a month for an MRI and then another month for the results, then my doctor M. C. last minute postponed my appointment for ANOTHER MONTH because he was too negligent to complete my MRI report in time for my appointment that I waited a month for resulting in me spending needless hours waiting around and going up and down the hospital trying to figure out how serious my injury is! The receptionist blamed this on a system error which is alarming knowing that they don’t care enough to see there’s been an error with a patients results! The service is appalling in this hospital.

Dr Rodolfo Albuquerque from this clinic is extremely unprofessional and impatient. Does not listen to you and his attention is very divided. The consultation lasted 16 minutes in total (I do not complain he was 40 minutes late) but after these 16 minutes of short questions, he was willing to make some pretty dangerous assumptions which for his profession, if it isn't already, should be illegal. He also seems to lack understanding skills of English (for example the difference between present and past tense) which is fine but then maybe don't take on English speaking patients. I don't recommend.

My experiences at Hospital Daluz has been marred by consistently frustrating visits to the Orthopedic Department, with Dr. Luis Correia. Despite scheduling exact appointments, I’ve repeatedly faced unacceptable waiting times, repeatedly waiting for hours on end to see him for a mere two minutes. It’s disheartening to witness a complete disregard for patients’ time. Dr. Correia expects punctuality from patients but fails to uphold the same standards himself. Having undergone surgeries on both feet, the most painful aspect of my recovery has been the continuous and never-ending waiting during each check-up. These prolonged waits make appointments feel meaningless and have instilled a sense of dread every time I consider returning. While I’ve had positive experiences in other departments at Hospital da Luz, Dr. Luis Correia’s department has been a shame, leading me to reconsider ever returning to a hospital I now associate with a painful, disrespectful, and frustrating ordeal. While acknowledging Dr. Correia’s cordial approach, the persistent lack of consideration for patients’ time remains a significant concern that needs urgent attention.

Overpriced. I was charged €270 to make a consultation The hospital is beautiful and has all the equipment we need, but the speed of care is ridiculous, I had to wait for 5 professionals doing an exam called CT scan for 1h30 on another patient and no one could do my x-ray which would only take 1min. Google informed that this exam only needed 1 professional, which leads me to believe that the other employees were chatting in the room. After much complaining to health professionals, professional Beatriz was proactive, attended to me and resolved my situation in 1 minute. However, the delay was so long that the doctor who attended to me left. I'm still in the hospital and I've been waiting for more than 3 hours for them to resolve a simple case and there will probably be an increase in the cost, as they insisted on carrying out unnecessary tests and medications as well. If you have the patience, come and bring a tablet to marathon a long series. Oh, also bring lots of euros because they will squeeze every last coin.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT. Hospital da Luz is a hospital garden, where you are well looked after and where you breathe joy, affection and attention. My husband was operated on by Neurosurgeon Dr. Miguel Casimiro, TOP. Attentive, very calm, knows what he is doing, conveys security and competence. It is the second surgery that Dr. MIGUEL has performed on my husband in the space of 4 years. They were a success. He represents well what a competent professional he is. Thank you Mr. Dr.Miguel. In addition to being charming, you are a very competent and, above all, attentive and humane doctor. After the surgery, and visiting the patient in the room, he left us completely calm and positive with his dialogue as a competent doctor who was concerned about the patient. Hospital da Luz is "lucky" to have him among the group of doctors at that Hospital. I would also like to thank all the nursing staff, equally competent and friendly, who always attended to room no. 342 with great attention and presence. The lady who made me the bed/sofa for me to sleep in the room with my husband, as support, was impeccable. Very friendly and always laughing, efficient. His presence was a light. Thank you very much to nurse Tânia. HUMAN, attentive, competent, and effective. Gratitude for everything and everyone. How good it was to have decided to have my husband undergo spinal surgery, at Hospital da Luz, for the second time and by Neurosurgeon Dr. MIGUEL CASIMIRO. It was a privilege. Thank you very much. The pediatric service is increasingly slower and without any monitoring. Emergency rooms are extremely slow and when additional tests such as X-rays are requested, they take 2 or 3 hours It is not at all acceptable, in a private place, to spend 4 hours without an estimate. The Administration of this unit should make every effort to improve care and promote quality service. These types of problems and situations are a shame.

Very good hospital! I have always received very good care at Hospital da Luz, but this time I want to highlight my satisfaction. I had to go to the emergency room due to very severe pain and I was surprised because I didn't think the treatment took very long. Of course, the waiting time is long, especially if we need to wait for test results, but it is understandable. I really liked that Dr. Rafael, who attended to me, was concerned about giving me exams instead of jumping to conclusions and was also very helpful. I needed to be admitted and have emergency surgery and I was very well looked after from start to finish. The nurses and orderlies are very attentive, concerned and helpful. Doctor Natacha, who performed my surgical procedure, reassured me and made everything very clear to me about what would be done. From the moment I arrived until I left the hospital, I had no complaints. Very good!

Whomever organises this hospital should reacess their profession and be replaced. The hospital is woefully mismanaged, waited 2 hours for my appointment and then the doctor had to fill in my medical history during the consultation (any functional clinic does this with nursing staff or during the booking of appointment). Avoid until Management wakes up to the 21st century and competition (I've now moved to using CUF).

My doctor who delivered my son is incredible, but everything else about this hospital was a JOKE. THey had one working OR, we showed up at 10am for a scheduled csection (fasting the night before), and i didnt deliver for 9 hours...because of yhe delay, my husband had to leave WHILENI WAS OPEN ON THE TABLE, so he could collect my older son from school ...nearly missing the entire birth....the nurses barely observe you directly after a section, and were quite gruff and rude. On my way to finally have my section, a grumpy nurse stormed in, and without smiling said, "let's go". DURINg the surgery, i was told my husband could be brought in direcrly after the spinal was given...but the lazy / distracted nurses didn't bother to get him until the surgery was well under way. I asked for the baby to be put on my chest directly after section, the nurses said they would, but instead just whisked him away.... during recovery, night one , a nurse acted so inconveinanced to give me paracetemol for pain.... i would have to ring the bell for BASIC meds, and be waiting for over an hp3ur FOR PARACETEMOL...the nurses are overworked, inattentive... besides having a great Dr deliever my child, the rest of the experience was terrible overall....no one really even watches your newborn while bn u r there, they barely attended to the child... i will say this, i have lived/ taught / received medical care in VARIOUS third world hospitals...Hospital de luz was the worst i have ever been in.... and i literally NEVER write bad reviews, ever.

Really poor service, staff is rude most of the times and waiting time for your booked appointment goes regularly over an hour with no excuses or any explanations. You won't wait this much in a public hospital. I constantly struggled to book my appointments with more than 2 months in advance. It was suggested, as it was perfectly normal, to do my 12weeks scan with 25 weeks and my 20 weeks scan with 34 weeks due to doctors being unavailable. Absolutely ridiculous...I do not recommend ginecology or obstetrician services of this hospital at all. It's not about the doctors it's the service that is too bad to be true.

Terrible customer service received from DEBORAH SILVA, I contacted the hospital on the 29th of December to find the results of my exam that I have done on the 28th of November. It has been 1 MONTH and haven't had any feedback from the hospital in regards to the results. I asked DEBORAH SILVA to leave a message for my doctor to contact me. DEBORAH SILVA informed me that my doctor would only return on the 2nd of January and that I SHOULD CALL back on the day that she returns. I have mentioned several times to Deborah that I prefer to leave a message , but I received attitude from her! When I requested her name, she told me that she had given her name to me in the beginning of the call.

I arrive at 5:20 pm, I am called to say that 'I have arrived' at 5:52 pm, Dr. is meeting with a patient, and I still have a person ahead to be consulted. What time will I be answered? After all, why do they schedule appointments? It will no longer be worth making a first-come-first-hand system so that we can organize ourselves with our personal lives (home, family, children mainly). As it is a private hospital, they should look after the well-being of every patient who enters here. Or at least warn, 'we are sorry, but your appointment is X delayed'. Dear all, I would like to start with overall impression of the hospital, in my opinion it was average and standard considering this is a private hospital in EU. When it comes to the actual medical treatment and follow up services, I was extremely disappointed. I happened to have sore throat and high fever so I chose to call this hospital. After talking to nurse, I decided to go to emergency room. I had high fever during Covid-19 situation and I did not want to take any chances. I was quickly accepted and the doctor made only very basic medical check-up. The doctor prescribed me basic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine. In order to avoid further risks, I decided to take the Covid-19 test which was negative. This all was relatively ok. However, what I found completely unacceptable is the below. After 5 days, I decided to call the hospital again because my recovery was not going as smoothly as I expected. Notwithstanding the fact that it took several people to talk to and 30 minutes on the phone, I was told the doctor already left today and I was assured that the doctor will call me the day after. No one called next day so I gave them the call myself. After another 30 minutes, I was told that the doctor works in the hospital only EVERY 15 DAYS and there is no other doctor who can advise me because they do not have my medical history (how is this even possible in digital era???). In addition, the only solution the hospital proposed was to come again to the hospital and PAY AGAIN for another consult... (i was looking for short follow up, why???) I was completely outraged, how is it possible that there is no doctor in the hospital who can give me a short follow up phone call on my medical condition? Especially in case of ONLY THROAT INFLAMMATION. Again, for me this is very unprofessional and completely unacceptable. I hope the above will help you to make a decision whether or not to use the services of this hospital.

They have a rule that they only give exams to people, when they pick them up (to save money), they have to put themselves in a long line and wait for the exams to be passed to CDs or other media. Furthermore, they do not inform the clinicians who work in the institution of the procedures (law) that was made to justify the absence from work (or certain face-to-face tasks), hence people with pulmonary emphysema (as is my case), have medical statements that they are not legal and employers can do nothing. I think the Hospital da Luz should charge more of their doctors and require them to be at least friendly, especially when it comes to babies and children. When we pay for a service it is normal that we want to be treated well. We talk about public health as much, and sometimes are treated more humanely than in Own Luz Hospital. Additionally, i have a chronic cystitis, so i was literally almost dying there. Additionally, their corporate email doesn't work properly, so my insurance sent the thousands letters with a request and they didn't receive anything.

I was at this hospital for specialist laporoscopy excision surgery on endometriosis under the most excellent surgeon in this field: Dr. Antonio Setúbal. This hospital provides adequate surgery care for anyone suffering from endometriosis that unfornately has no cure, but does have the excision surgery as major pain relief and part of long term treatment plan. I am half Dutch and half portuguese and let me say, all my life in the netherlands (being born there), i was NEVER treated, as well as, in the health care system here in Portugal. It goes for the public hospital, but also now for this extremely difficult specialist surgery it was a very good experience. Very proud that such a doctor that is known worldwide (he is cited in icarebetter platform) and also in the North of in portugal, all my contacts in health care asked around and every surgeon had only good words for Dr. Setúbal and his team. Not anywhere within half year I would have been treated in the netherlands and in my 20s i was bedridden for already 3 months and years of pain before that. Post-surgery I was housed in pedriatic care for 3 days after and all the nurses were exceptional in supporting my recovery,i saw psychologist and every step of the way i was informed very well by any profesional on what was going on. One night i was doing very badly and Monica the nurse i will never forget your kindness and expert care. This goes for all the pre-surgery consults as well, always swift and adequate information. All this in covid time, of course there were delays and at times you had to wait longer.. but this hospital was clean, respectful and mindful of you as well as pandemic all the way. Thank you for being part of my journey towards a better life, if ever i need to come back i know where I will come. This is my personal experience of this hospital and surgery, I hope and wish every endometriosis warrior will find its way here!

Good service at the reception. I've been greatly received. The hospital is brand new, it's beautiful. But, this is maybe what also is a curse for this hospital because in the end, it seems that they have put the whole budget in the fancy technologies and decorations and not into the doctor's, I'm kinda of joking over here, it's only speculation because obviously it doesn't maybe reach all departments (I hope) but at least it was true for the person I had, the answer was unjustified, incomplete, dangerous in the end because my problem isn't fixed. TBH I'm shouting that kind of sentence because I'm really unhappy with the conclusion of the consultation which was : "There is nothing more I can do for you". Right now I'm suffering as hell with my ears, I may have a growing cancer that I wouldn't know about it. I think I will try the public hospital.

I desperately contacted the hospital inumerous times, but the answer is always the same one.... Pathology department can't be reached, one enquiry has been opened..all I can do is wait. Absolutely disgraceful service.

I am going to talk about a SIX MONTHS experience of going back an forward to the Hospital da Luz and why it is a scam. For the past months I have been there with my wife for an isse where the ping ponged her through several tests, doctors different ER consultations. The last time we went the doctor available did not even look at her, asked what she had, ignore the tests she already did in the past, told her to shut up and be on an IV. I am still doing a formal complain through medis for that. But anyway after more than 20 tests. The last doctor we had, wanted to do another bunch of tests, when we said it was a pre-existing condition and thus the hospital would charge us for the operation, suddenly as by miracle he said, "oh, wait I actually have a spot for a operation this monday." This is what Luz is about, they will flip you through thousands of tests, to make money, and will treat you went you actually have to pay. That is the reality of private.

Sadly Hospital Da Luz is not a competent or professional institution of health. There is complete and total confusion upon entering the hospital for new patients with no clear department markings or how to check in for your appointment. The Hospital Da Luz app does not validate if your health insurance is accepted and their website listed my insurance as accepted but they refused me treatment at the reception. Hospital Da Luz looks good on the surface and I guess that’s where they spent all their money but it lacks sanity and accountability on the inside. It’s a shame as it seems to have potential to be a great hospital but many years away from achieving that.

Great experience with an urgent care visit. Wait was quick- 15mins for initial triage and consultation with doctor. And then they called a specialist which was another 40mins. Hope I don’t have to go back again 🤞🏽 but if I needed to, I’d go here. Only criticism was the check-in/out, that process could’ve been more efficient.

I had a good experience at this hospital. The doctors and staff are very nice, great foodcourt too! To avoid much stress though, I'd recommend coming a bit in advance to your appointments - the process may be a bit confusing, as you may need to get your personal queue number on the specific reception, and after that you may wait a bit more until you get invited to the doctor's room.

Ok, i have nothing to complain about this hospital: 1. Gynaecologist and Maternity ward top notch! I had my baby here, and we felt like staying in a hotel during the three nights 4 days. 2. I also was hospitalised due pneumonia and i was in the intern medicine ward and i was treated nicely for the nurses too, i was lactating and they even got me a breast pump. 3. Pediatrics also no complaints, either from the emergency department 4. Adults emergency, it could be a bit faster. This is the only thing i could complain about the hospital as they let people in really bad state outside sitting instead to let them lay down (my case while 40 degree temperature)

I’ve paid 105 Euros for a 2 minutes Gynae appointment on the 1st of September just for the Doctor to send me for an MRI, no physical examination on the consultation not even asked me if I was able to have an MRI scan or not due to past medical history. The nurse who invaded my consultation to ask the Doctor how to print a paper on the computer even had more time than me that I was paying for the appointment. The disrespect for patients who are paying is tremendous, is like they don’t even care. I wonder if this awful treatment is given for Africans only. It’s ridiculous that I told the Doctor on my consultation that I had severe bleeding due to fibroids and the only thing he did was to send me for an MRI so I could spend more money with them. What about checking my bloods to see if my Hemoglobin was low? What bout a biopsy just a simple collection of sample to examined for any cell abnormalities or cancer. My 105 Euros was only for the Doctor to teach the nurse how to print a paper on the computer during my appointment. The disrespect the arrogance for patient is absolutely ridiculous. At the end of my appointment the receptionist at the desk couldn’t even explain me the options of their payment plans since I was told on the registration that there was packets prices with the consultation and scans it was a total scam. The receptionist didn’t know about any plans and just wanted me to insert the card on the card machine and pay. No kindness no respect, no sympathy for the patient who is paying, just arrogance… I didn’t waste my time and my money to book for further MRI. It was a really bad awful experience with this hospital.

Liars and thieves. Called in and requested an appointment, gave all insurance information, confirmed price and that insurance would cover. Saw doctor, who wanted another appointment to do the same tests that could have done in the first session. Then, get a bill that is 5 times the amount agreed upon prior. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this one.

By far the worst hospital to go to the emergency. We waited 3,5 hours for an X-ray. No doctors available because it was a Saturday. And even if you have an appointment you wait for at least 30 minutes. Worst organization system by far. Only visit it for a scheduled procedure, for which you will still have to wait.

Do not go as a tourist!! I was treated with suspicion as an english speaking tourist, I called four times to pre-triage myself and was just hung up on each time I asked for english. I then went to the hospital regardless where I was confronted that I should have called, to which I told them I did and showed my phone. i was then told that it was ‘strange’ but I would have to join the back of the line anyway. I took my seat and after 2 hours of waiting i asked why I was not triaged and I was told it’s because the receptionist ‘forgot’ to check me in. Then I was told I would need to pay 260$ to see a doctor and also re-joining triage. I thought lisbon was open to foreigners but this hospital was certainly not, sad to see in this day and age.

Can not access my account since one month. No one can help - neither customer support on front desk who promised to resolve the problem in 2 weeks, nor the phone support , nor emergency reception , nor the second floor where the invoices can be printed , but they said that the access will be granted within 24 h …. 2 weeks ago . Incredible! The worst customer support ever . I was even sceamed at on the phone and told that I did not understand what I was told - no, I understood perfectly- you suggest I take a taxi and come again to the hospital to fix the problem , but guess what - no desire to spend more money with no guarantee that it will be fixed. My last ever visit to this place. Frustrating , given the money spent.

The emergency service waiting time is unacceptable for a private hospital. I've been waiting for 3h30 to be seen and we still have at least an hour or two left. It is a paid health service with very low quality. When I was admitted, they said the waiting time would be 1h30, and the website indicated 40 minutes.

I had surgery on March 15, 2024. As I had done another one in 2017 where I was hospitalized for 7 days and nothing had happened, I confirmed it. However, on March 15th, 35 euros that I had in notes were taken away from me, they were kind enough to leave the 4 one-euro coins that were nearby. I informed the hospital when I found out that how it is calculated after lumbar spine stabilization is not immediate. The complaint was filed. I didn't expect anything either, but at least they would regret what happened.
