Criminal:
wilful
gross
professional
misconduct,
negligence
and
deceit,
by
Dr
Ana
Teresa
Ferreira
Pereira
Dos
at
Maternidade
Alfredo
da
Costa
(MAC).
Situation
was
in
January
2023,
my
wife
was
7
months
pregnant,
our
unborn
daughter
became
seriously
ill
and
my
wife's
haemoglobin
became
life
threatening.
Barreiro
Maternity
Hospital
transferred
her
to
Maternidade
Alfredo
da
Costa
(MAC)
who
then
refused
all
treatment.
They
twice
tried
to
deceive
her,
the
first
time
asking
her
to
consent
to
a
blood
transfusion
that
my
wife
had
a
fundamental
religious
objection
to
by
saying
the
consent
form
said
the
opposite.
They
did
not
bother
looking
at
her
previous
hospital
notes
and
refused
to
speak
to
me
at
all,
until
my
wife
put
me
on
speaker
phone
and
I
pointed
out
that
they
would
be
in
gross
professional
misconduct
at
criminal
level
if
they
did
not
read
those
notes.
They
then
said
she
could
bring
in
the
medication
she
was
prescribed
by
a
top
hospital
in
Scotland,
then
when
it
came,
they
took
it
off
her
and
offered
no
alternative,
even
when
that
medication
was
life
essential.
Dr
Ana
Teresa
was
arrogant
and
had
zero
compassion,
delaying
treatment
by
so
long
that
my
baby
daughter
could
no
longer
survive
when
it
was
delivered
by
another
hospital
(Santa
Maria,
Lisbon).
MAC
prevented
my
wife
from
exiting
the
hospital,
prevented
her
accessing
her
clothes
and
threatened
arrest
if
she
left
(there
was
no
mental
illness
involved,
no
alcohol
and
no
drugs,
so
no
valid
reason
to
deny
the
right
to
leave).
They
denied
her
human
rights
to
have
access
to
a
chaplain
when
her
life
was
in
imminent
danger,
a
legal
right
in
Portugal.
Eventually
my
wife
managed
an
uncontrolled
discharge
and
the
registered
chaplain
who
was
waiting
outside
the
ward
for
22
hours
nonstop
-
MAC
would
not
let
him
in
-
took
her
straight
to
Hospital
Universitari
Santa
Maria
2km
away
where
the
obstetrics
team
operated
and
did
absolutely
all
they
could,
were
honest,
caring
and
professional.
Unfortunately
our
baby
died
shortly
after
delivery,
as
her
condition
was
not
survivable
due
to
the
delay
from
MAC
-
the
Santa
Maria
team
really
tried,
with
ten
different
doctors
working
on
her
at
once
in
a
perfectly
sychronised
team.
My
wife
was
also
in
a
critical
condition,
and
it
is
through
the
care
from
the
obstetrics
and
haemotology
team,
that
she
is
alive
today
-
if
she
had
stayed
at
MAC
it
is
certain
that
she
would
have
died.
I
would
recommend
Hospital
Universitari
Santa
Maria
to
anyone
needing
treatment
in
the
Lisbon
area
and
that
nobody
in
their
right
mind
should
go
to
MAC.
MAC's
actions
may
have
killed
my
daughter
and
their
actions
had
a
good
go
at
killing
my
wife.
I
understand
from
the
chaplain
who
is
also
a
registered
medical
nurse,
that
he
has
had
many
previous
negative
experiences
with
MAC
and
when
he
heard
my
wife
was
there,
his
heart
groaned.
Events
there
proved
him
right.
My
wife
and
I
are
truly
thankful
for
Hospital
Universitari
Santa
Maria:
the
contrast
with
MAC
could
not
be
more
extreme.
