At Praca da Figueira, there is a bronze equestrian monument of King JoĆ£o I Statue, who ruled Portugal between 1385 and 1433. Sculpted by Leopoldo de Almeida in 1971, it is typical of earlier 19th-century grand equestrian statues of European royal and state leaders throughout history. What you see is of Dom JoĆ£o I dressed in armour of his day and age, with baton in one hand and a horse reign in the other. He appears to be leading a march. This is a nice monument, standing upon an oval shaped pedestal with the Portugal coat of arms upon the front and two effigy reliefs on the sides of the pedestal.

Many Central Lisbon plazas are littered with statues and columns. This is another one that you'll see when visiting the market at the Praca de Figueroa. Decent looking equestrian statue but nothing that will blow your mind.

In 1971, the city government honored JoĆ£o I of Portugal with a bronze statue designed by Leopoldo de Almeida. On the side of the statue there are two medallions that show both Nuno Ɓlvares Pereira and JoĆ£o das Regras, both of whom helped JoĆ£o I to power, who in turn is generally considered the "defender of the fatherland" because he was the pro- Castilian interim ruler Leonore Teles de Menezes fell. During the last renovation of the square in 1999/2000, the statue was moved from the center of the square to the southwest corner in order to make it visible from the PraƧa do ComĆ©rcio. -> wiki

This statue stands in King Joao I of Portugal. It's a standard equestrian statue and is made of bronze. The sculpture depicts the king on horseback. In his right hand, he holds a sceptre. and that's about it. The sculpture is set against the background of the Penha Franca and Alfama districts and does look good in that context. The monument is located in Praca da Figueira, which is a public square with the usual array of cafes and restaurants. It's in central Lisbon and hard to miss, but otherwise don't go out the way to see it.

Nice square with a very beautiful statue, which on some days is also used as a venue for artisans of all kinds. You can shop very well at the small stalls and buy handicrafts, especially jewelry, at good prices.

Equestrian statue of King JoĆ£o I EstĆ”tua Equestre de Dom JoĆ£o I PraƧa da Figueira, 1100-240 Lisboa, Portugal Lisbon is steeped in history, and one of the most visible evidences of it are its statues, which pay homage to what the city holds dear. Here we see the history of a statue that may seem inconspicuous in the city, but is nevertheless very important, that of King Joao I in PraƧa da Figueira Equestrian statue of D. JoĆ£o I). The equestrian statue of King JoĆ£o I, made of bronze, was erected on the penultimate day in 1971 in PraƧa da Figueira, where the Figueira Market was held. The piece was created by the sculptor Leopoldo de Almeida, who also donated two smaller pieces to the facade of the Cineteatro Ɖden, also in Lisbon. JĆ” pedestal, designed by architect Jorge Segurado. The pedestal is engraved with two medals representing Nuno Ɓlvares Pereira and JoĆ£o das Regras, making this the site of the dynastic crisis of 1385 Of memory, Portugal had no crown until 1385. Visually it is an imposing statue, 6.5 meters high, where you can see King Joao I holding a scepter, symbolizing the regent's authority, and his horse with its head lowered in submission. Captain Avis's orders. The statue is "dressed" for military defense and is decorated with the shield of the tenth King of Portugal, which also appears on the horse ring. With his head protected by a Roman Elmo, he clearly possesses a confident and heroic warrior. The illegitimate son of King Pedro I and his mistress Teresa LourenƧo, JoĆ£o I was appointed Lord of the Order of the Order of Avis and later crowned the tenth King of Portugal in 1385 and in 1443 Died in the year. He put an end to the dynastic crisis of 1383-1385 by executing Count Andero, the count of Galicia who had been appointed for national independence. The ComeƧou assim were the second dynasty of the Portuguese monarchy, designated by him as the House of Aves, which always displayed great dignity, whether on a social, political or economic level.

There is a public transportation station in the city center that I often use. Slightly aggressive play from the afternoon to late at night You may be surprised to see so many young people enjoying it. Loud noises or guns? I heard a loud popping sound. There are also many people riding skateboards.

So if you want to see all statues of men on horses you definitely need to check this one, though it does look suspiciously a lot like the other ones.
