An amazing palace in its beauty and magnificent gardens. Prepare the phone's battery because it will not stop taking pictures. Entrance to the palace is ten euros per person, there is a tour that leaves at 11:00 and 12:00 . Entrance to the gardens - five euros per person. The place is quite desolate from tourists and I think there are three reasons for this: 1. It is far from the city center and any other tourist destination. 2. The place is relatively small. We did not enter the palace but the gardens are beautiful but you can cover them with a slow half hour walk. 3. Those in charge of the place do not give added value. I mean we bought tickets for the garden, we did not get with it a brochure that explains the place or the gardens. We know the place belongs to a noble family, so there must be a story. Why not interest the tourists. By the way, getting there is also a bit problematic and uninviting. It's like nowhere.

Fascinating family history. I took the guided tour and Bernardo was exceptionally knowledgeable of the palace, artifacts and heritage. The family still lives in one section of the property. A gem sitting near the park (Monsanto)

The palace has some nice looking gardens. Nothing too fancy, just a green place where you can spend half an hour to an hour away from the crowd. I haven't entered the palace, so I can't really say anything about it. If you have the time and money (not that it's very expensive or something, but if you're on a budget, it is a cost you should consider) I recommend going here.

We did the guided tour with Miguel and it was fantastic. It is a really cute palace on the inside with many original features and a rich family history. The garden and the structures within are fascinatingly baroque and quirky. The garden can also be visited without a tour. No picture taking inside.

Unfortunately we were unable to visit the inside as it was closed for renovation or something. That being said we were able to visit the garden and it was quite spectacular. Unfortunately the statues and building are not suffering from many years of exposure to the elements. The greenery was kept neat and tidy which was good to see. Overall quite nice and not many tourists which is always nice.

The place looks beautiful but it could use plenty of renovation. It's pretty far from the city and we ubered there, can't say it was worth it. We didn't get to see the inside of the palace since they had a wedding that day, we only visited the gardens. Which were in a bad comdition imo.

Beautiful palace a bit out of the city center. You can choose to visit only the gardens or both gardens and palace. If I remember well, the prices were 5 euros for the gardens and 10 euros for both. The gardens could be better took care of but it's giving a certain style to the whole. You will see bunch of azulejos, statues, blue walls and greens. You can only visit the inside of the palace with a guide, probably because the place is private and still inhabited by a family. The guide is speaking Portuguese and English, and is willing to adapt to his audience. The explanations were interesting, we went through 6 or 7 rooms and the terasse. This is a nice palace to visit if you are visiting Lisbon during a few days.

A true hidden gem of Lisbon! What a special and memorable palace. We really enjoyed touring the gardens. So many small details to discover as you take your time through the grounds. From the pictures, it is overlooked by the masses of tourists and felt like we had the place to ourselves. Highly recommend taking the tour of the inside and learning the history of this prominent family. Worth the extra trip to this historical gem.

Beautiful and peaceful garden. Only a few visitors besides us. Garden entrance 6e, which I gladly pay for this place. One of my favorite places during my trip to Lisbon. I recommend looking at the palace tour schedules in advance. We didn't go on the tour, because the day's English-language tour had already gone. The palace is easily accessible by Bolt. 😊

Magical place. Beautiful estate. Definitely one of the most beautiful palace and gardens I have ever visited. Guided tour is the only way to visit the house. Tour guide knew her stuff and spoken very good English. Tour lasts an hour and afterwards you can walk around in the garden as long as you want. No photography allow inside the house. 14th generation Marquis and his family live there. A must visit when you are in Lisboa.

Went to a private wedding here so my experience is biased. That being said the grounds were gorgeous and the staff incredibly attentive. The palace itself has some unique and wonderful architecture worth seeing, particularly the alcove made up of seashells in the back. If you have the funds to book a private event here it is worth every penny.

Make sure you look up the times of the visit BEFORE! I had just missed the tour of inside the Palais and was so bummed. The gardens were beautiful but the terrace was ONLY for the tour. I thought I would be able to visit the terrace since it was outside but unfortunately it wasn’t and that was a big disappointment. Such a beautiful place with so much charm. Really feel so grateful I was able to visit. Honestly the best hidden charm of Lisbon!

It is such a beautiful place with a very resonable price to get in which is 5 euros. Although I realised it was not very well taken care of and I assume this is due to limited budget. I would love to see this place have more attention!

Absolutely gorgeous and easily one of my favorite places that I visited on my trip to Lisbon! I just visited the gardens (5e) and it was so stunning. If you would like to visit the palace itself, you must join a tour (13e with admission to the gardens included), but I thought that the gardens were plenty. It is incredibly well kept and the tiling in the garden and on the palace is absolutely stunning. I spent an hour to 90 minutes just exploring the gardens themselves (while taking many Instagram photos as well of course).

The Palace on the outskirts of the city in the Sao Dominigos district is a must-see attraction while visiting the magnificent city of Lisbon! To reach it, you can take a bus or the metro, but personally, I chose to take a very long walk through the city. I enjoy experiencing popular places from the perspective of everyday life, although at times you may pass through less interesting residential neighborhoods. I would recommend using public transportation for convenience. The palace itself is open for visitation only during limited hours on weekdays due to the aristocratic family still residing there. The beauty of the palace and its gardens is truly breathtaking. If you appreciate such places, this is an essential stop on your trip to the splendid city of Lisbon!

A magnificent palace, if you have time, never miss it! It has a wonderful garden and hundreds of different angles to take photos. If you are going to take fashion photos or go for Instagram, I recommend you to dress in harmony with green and blue.

The Fronteira palace is a terrific place for a short visit - there are one-hour guided tours in English and Spanish, or you could just walk around the gardens for free.

Incredible place! You can either buy a ticket just for the garden, which is amazing, or a combo with a guided tour (in English or Portuguese) for the palace. Tours are not scheduled on every hour so try to find out when they are, we had two hours to spare, but we explored the garden at that time, even set there for half an hour and rest. Garden is definitely a must see, palace is much more modest compared to it, but out tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of information and details.

(Translated by Google) Probably one of the most beautiful gardens in Lisbon. The tank of the knights and the gallery of the kings, is undoubtedly the ex-libris of the garden. Throughout the garden are tiles, most of them on the facades of the palace. Some of them depict mythological and everyday scenes. Strong colors abound, lapislazzuli blue and ocher red. There is also a small fountain, with children, and a chapel lined with shells on the west side of the garden. In the east area of the garden and at a lower level there is a new garden opened in 2010, they are without any care and remove beauty from the set. Alguns deles retratam cenas mitológicas e do cotidiano. As cores fortes abundam, o azul lapislazzuli e o vermelho ocre.

Such a hidden jewel! Really worth the detour for a couple of hours wandering through these beautiful gardens, which are really well taken care of. Definitely a nice place to relax. You can also take a guided tour to check the interior of the Palace. On the down side, it is really a shame the tiles and statues aren't so well preserved. They could really use some cleaning so the bright colours could pop up even more.

It's Difficult to describe in words how beautiful this place is. I waited a long time to visit this garden with the man I love, and it was a day that I will never forget. We visited it on January 6 and practically had the entire property to ourselves. Truly magical. 🌳🌳

A fabulous visit to a palace made all the more interesting by the fact that it is still owned and lived in by family members. Unspoiled by updating, the original features including frescoes, murals and Azulejos are still intact throughout the house. The floors creak which I love, the books in the library must be hundreds of years old, and everything is as it should be. Well worth a visit! We had a guided tour of the inside and gardens giving the full history of the hunting lodge which it was originally built as, and the family too.

The palace was very beautiful and the opulent rooms inside it were marvelous. The grounds, while clearly brimming with history, were, however, less impressive. Most of the garden seemed to be in serious state of disrepair and that is a crying shame when one thinks of what could have been. It is early spring so maybe this was bit of an off-time for the gardens, but the beautiful statues and fountains were all so dirty you could hardly tell what they were supposed to represent. The guided tour was interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable and their English was excellent.

Just wow. Beautiful tiles and overall stunning atmosphere. Try to book the guided tour to get inside the palace. (I think it starts once daily at 12 noon and costs around 15€ per Person) Otherwise you are just allowed to visit the garden.

Beautiful garden and home. You’ll need a tour guide to see the inside of the house, but they hold regular tours in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish. Only €14pp. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet one of the residents (pictured 🐈). Honestly a must see!

A magnificent place. You have two options: 1. Visit either part of the building with the garden 2. Visit only the garden The building can only be accessed with a guide belonging to the foundation who gives guided tours every day upon request. There would be a lot of information to say but essentially I recommend visiting this special place. History, culture and elegance mix together to create a unique place that seems isolated among the greenery but is just a few minutes from the center of Lisbon.

Unfortunately the day we visited the garden was closed for a private event. The tour guide was very nice and welcoming and the place is absolutely beautiful, I wish I could stay longer and take more pictures from different angles with the changing light. I know you can rent for weddings and private events, I hope to be involved in some nice project here in the future.

We arrived early for our morning tour at 930am and bought tickets and walked around the palace. When i say palace, it is actually the gardens that you can visit. The rest of the palace is only on the guided tour and you can only see 3 rooms. The guide also acted and behaved like it was a waste of his time to be there with no eye contact with any guests and was very routine about it all. I enjoyed the gardens very much - if you come, dont pay for the guided tour.

Gardens are lovely, but at €6 per adult it's a little bit expensive compared to other things to see in the city, you will get better value for money in other places if you are tight for time. However, its close to a huge park so you could make a day of that and include the Palace as part of it, just depends on the time you have and your interests. We didn't go inside so cannot comment on that side of it but from the outside it did not seem very big so for another €6... Not sure. I will admit that the gardens are lovely and we were there when it was sunny in February so it was lovely but they are a bit grotty in places and should really be doing more to improve them.

This private palace is open to the public through guided tours only. Today (2/23/19) they only offered tours at 11am and 12pm. I got there at 10:55am, on time for the first group. Tours today were given in Portuguese, French and English. I did the tour in Portuguese; the fact that we were only 4 people in the Portuguese group made it feel very private, which is great in a house still inhabited by its owners. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. The outdoors are very nice too. If you come all the way here, do the tour inside the house.

(Translated by Google) The palace must have a very beautiful interior, but only a few spaces are exposed to the public, besides the beautiful (and iconic) garden. In addition, the guide did not have much knowledge about the history of the place, or Portuguese history. Perhaps, if they placed national guides or those with greater knowledge of our history, they would give more value to the palace and better justify the cost of the ticket.

Nice to see a restoration in progress, the garden is open all day but to see inside you need to go on one of the two morning tours. We booked a special tour for 10 of us at 0900 which was very effective. There's no cafe so take a flask!

The gardens are very beautiful, the "azulejos" drawings share many stories and situations of the Portuguese history ( for example they have one depicting people as animals doing mundane things, the types of animals represent the greediness/stupidity of people). The house/palace itself is a museum house meaning part of it is a museum but it also serves as a house, as the descendants of the Marquis live there. Inside the museum we learn more about the history of the family and how the house came to be. All in all, an interesting cultural site of Portuguese history.

A gem on the outskirts of Park Monsanto. Surprising beautiful. Recommend to go on the guided tour at 11.00 to see the inside of the palace

A big part of the garden was verry wild (I could be verry beautiful), but maybe because they had now time??? Water what's not clean. It was not possible to visit inside and that's the resean it was expensive. We pay the regular price and kan not visit the villa.

Another must see place-the que for the initiation well was scary but went quite quick. The whole gardens, lake, palaces all amazing-you need at least 2 days to see all. Whenever we’re back there’s something new to discover
