The check-in / check-out were very easy and quick to do thanks to the friendly staff. Overall, I had an excellent experience and, As expected, the hotel’s breakfast was delightful. The only down side: the plugs in my room were distante from the bed and in some weird locations. Would have been nice to have them closer to the bed in order not to get up every time I needed my phone ( which was charging )

Terrible hotel witha terrible night staff. No management in place and workers are rude to the customers. The rooms are worn out and hotel looks really tired and old. Super expensive prices for this level of hotel and service. Better avoid and in fact runaway.

Close to the river and a railway station with near by bus routes. Ideally situated for the sightseers, with Belem to the west with all it's attractions and Baixa to the east, both within walking distance but both reachable with public transport, as well being able to access the beaches further along the river from the nearby railway station. The staff are friendly, the food is good, there is a pool, sauna and steam room. Had a lovely stay.

Every complaint about airco not working + old rooms + not clean is true. Do not book anything here! This is not a 4 stars hotel at all! I even made pictures with stains in the bathroom when I arrived. I stayed there at the beginning of February so I actually needed a warm room. But nothing was even close. I was entering the room healthy to sleep and waking up more and more sick. Not to mention that it was so cold that in the first night I slept only 2 hours. I was in a business trip, leaving the hotel in the morning and coming back at night. So I had no time and energy to go to the reception to ask for the bare minimum that the hotel should have offered- agood working air-conditioning. I only asked for 2 blankets. Nonetheless, after 2 nights in the hotel, I woke up the last morning with my head, throat and ears hurting so much. I am still in pain from that cold and windy experience and would not recommend the hotel to no one.

This is not a 4* hotel. It’s 3* at best. The rooms are shabby and in need of renovation. There are no complimentary toiletries provided, aside from some cheap gel in the shower, and not even any coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms. The hotel is also right underneath the 25 April bridge, so rooms on that side of the building are extremely noisy. Service is also poor. I had a problem with the air conditioning unit in my room, which wasn’t working and dripping water on the floor. I asked to move rooms and was told twice by the receptionist it was impossible because no other rooms were available. I checked my hotel booking app and there were plenty! I was eventually moved when I pointed this out. A poor experience all round.

We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel and everything was fantastic. Very helpful staff and great facilities and outstanding Breakfast. Just across the road there are some amazing restaurants too if you don't want to eat in. We will definitely be back when we are next in Lisbon.

Was not sure about location of this hotel at first, it's a way from the town centre and by the 25th April bridge. But actually, it's easy to walk over a footbridge and enjoy a waterside walk and all the restaurants there. It's easy to get a bus or tram to the old town 8n one direction or to a lovely village like area the other way with parks, pavement cafes etc. It's also by a train station to go up to the coast so actually really convenient. Breakfast was good. Had dinner once and not so good. Nice indoor pool and gym and I love all the opera items dotted around

It's NOT a 4-star hotel! Rooms were due for an upgrade 10+ years ago (see pictures) - and I stayed in an "upgraded" junior suite. No toiletries aside from a very cheap gel (no lotion, shampoo, conditioner, or anything else). No coffee/tea. Breakast was just average, but coffee is the worst I ever had in Europe. The TV is the size of an average computer monitor. Only one electrical plug in the bedroom, 5 feet away from bed. Staff is hit or miss. When I asked about a shampoo and conditioner, I was directed to the store up the street in not the friendliest terms. For the price this hotel charges, it is NOT worth it!

Rooms are a little bit dated but still tidy. Shower over the bath. Beds are very firm. Sheets not too starchy. This is a great hotel if you are attending the Congress centre. Restaurants and bars 10 min walk away. Taxi needed to get to center.

Lovely hotel. Clean rooms. Well appointed for the nearby conference centre. Decent breakfast options plus convenient for access to other parts of Portugal with nearby tram, bus and train stations. Recommend. Took a star off for location because of the din of the bridge but nothing they can do about it. May be considered a part of the appeal in some respects. Recommended 👍

The staff was great, the rest of the property not so much. We stayed here while running the Lisbon Marathon. We thought a “spa” hotel was the perfect place, instead we should have left the moment we walked in. First impressions of a hotel can be made by going into the lobby bathroom. It was disgusting and hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. We used it again the next day and it still was in the same condition. The room was fine, but the bed needs to be replaced. Every time I rolled over it would squeak and make noise. The spa didn’t have any reservations available so we ended up at the Hyatt a few blocks away, I wish I would have stayed there as well. My recommendation would be to find some place else to stay.

If this is a 4-star hotel then I'm George Washington. The building is noticeably aging with cracks and a funky smell. The bar didn't have coke zero or any other diet soda options, the restaurant was buffet style and it was challenging to find something decent to eat. Also, they cooked meat in the dining room and so our clothes smelled like a grill for the rest of the day. The room only had one towel, no coffee maker, and while there was soap and shampoo, the soap was by the sink and you couldn't reach it from the shower. The bed was really firm, but since that comes down to preference, I'm not really including it in my rating and instead as an FYI to any readers. The staff were nice and helpful, but there wasn't anyone to help with the luggage as I would expect at a 4-star hotel. Lastly, and as other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is quite noisy with thin walls, near a train line and major bridge, and under the flight path of the nearby airport. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. If the hotel was listed as a 2 or 3 star and charged equivalent prices, then it would meet expectations, but it's pretending to be something that it is not.

Location is everything with Vila Gale in Lisbon , Close to the River and Belem as well as Docas and enough to get to Cais do Sodré.

Very Good hotel in terms of quality of room and cleanliness and size of rooms, with bathroom also, but there a couple of things that could be improved: - when we arrived we learned that the SPA and the swimming pool is closed (ok on the 25th Dec it is acceptable, but while on their website they said it was open. A minimum was to inform in advance on booking, website...) - the reception of the hotel is noisy because very open and closed to the bar, probably this could be improved - the room doesn't contain any boiling water for tea or cafe (strange for this level of hotel) - hopefully the breakfast will be good tomorrow, I'm confident it will be , as the comments are good on internet

Great conference hotel. Breakfast is excellent. Loads of options. Rooms clean and comfortable. Outside seating area with bar. If you like a morning or evening run, waterfront 5 minutes away, 10k running route with grest views. Conference venue 5 mins walk. Main city, 10 - 15 in cab, 10- 12 euros.

Very nice business Hotel. Two blocks away from the Congress Center. Looking for places to eat nearby is tricky however... 1 km walk to the docks and the LX Factory. Accessible to trams and buses midway between Belem and City Center. The room was fairly simple.. no coffee. There is this particular odor through out the hotel which I previously smelled when I leave a room closed for a long time. It may be due to the air fresheners they use or failure to vacuum the carpets. The staff are pleasant anyway.

+ Good hotel in this kind of hotels. Modern, a bit impersonal but clean and efficient. Good size for the rooms. Great view (after crossing the roads and railways) when on the bank of the river! - The noise of the bridge, of the roads and railways are just impossible to ignore. At least, ask for a bedroom on the street, not under the bridge!

Thanks to the kitchen and serving staff for the good food. You take good care of gluten-free/sem gluten food in the meeting room.

Warm rooms, clean hotel, good food and reasonable prices. My personal suggestion to the management: more waste paper baskets here and there would come in handy.

It was better than expected from the reviews. Very nice hotel. Great breakfast. Clean rooms. Live Opera on Saturday night. We like a firm yet comfortable bed. Rooms were quiet. We booked another night!

The Vila Gale Opera hotel is very close to the Congress center (<5min walk) which is why I chose to stay there. The hotel is clean and the breakfast buffet had many good options. I was disappointed that a clothes iron was not provided in the room nor was one available for use from the front desk. I had to pay the housekeeping staff to have clothes pressed prior to the start of the conference (extra fee for faster than 48 hr service). While a hair dryer was provided, there were no available outlets for use in the bathroom. Also the hotel provides soap and shampoo but not hair conditioner. The WiFi was slow and when tour buses showed up with a large number of guests (happened 3x in 1 week) it was difficult to login to WiFi or get decent internet speeds. The hotel staff was unable to provide recommendations for local restaurants when asked. The street noise is also substantial, light sleepers will definitely want ear plugs.

Vila Galé Ópera was not so bad at all. We only spent one night but the rooftop mini pools were a real treat in the middle of the city. It's a fantastic location with great parking and easy access to the coolest spot in Lisbon: LX Factory!

One of the best options of accomodation you can get in Lisbon. Relatively close to the city center, you can get to Salazar’s Bridge and Belém by walk. Breakfast is served well with variety of food, but once I noticed mold on cheese (and it wasn’t supposed to be there).

An overall old, unmaintend hotel. Given that it's located right next to the bridge and in the plane's trajectory, opening the window is not an option and you'll hear it while trying to sleep. Breakfast is a standard continental breakfast (although I'd highlight the fresh made omolettes and pancakes). Overall expected more from this hotel and its franchise...

Good service but very old structure. I have 9 nights book and untill 7th day, I had to change 3 rooms.in the first room there were no good internet connectivity, second room there was a mosquite problem( couldnt sleep 2 nights in even the reseption help twice for pest control treatment). The floor of the rooms are carpet and it is individual airconditioners and some rooms has old ones.there is no still water in the room you have to buy from bar, there is no iron in the rooms . The Laundry service was not a good experience at all, damaged all my shirts and delivered in 2 days and Shirts were not ironed properly at all,I had to sent back to ironing twice but still wasnt satisfactory. there is no shoe cleaning materials, limited sanitary materials in the bathroom.

An expensive 4 Stars Hotel that doesn't provide drinking water or even body lotion in the room. Rooms are noisy, and specially the bathroom is really basic. Location is not the best, quite far away from the center

This hotel looks like a million of others but has a distinctive feature. The staff is kind, attentive and caring. I never feel home in a hotel but here the staff makes up for it. Thank you

Great meeting space. The staff went above and beyond to help us source some extra equipment locally. Would definitely recommend this for a dinner or meeting for 100 people.

Loved our stay here. Spent three nights and there is a parking garage! We parked our rental here and took an Uber to the old centro. This is a great location for visiting Jeronimos Monestary and other sites. Breakfast was included and it’s a huge buffet- very good! The bar is quaint and the chef made us a fabulous pizza! Comfortable and quiet. Two thumbs up.

We were sent to this hotel by TAP airlines for a missed connection. The hotel could not provide a room for the 3 of us, they put us in two rooms. One of them was reeking of smoking smell. Bathroom did not have anything other than a wall dispenser saying Gel - no shampoo or conditioner or hand soap or anything.

The rooftop has an amazing view both by day and night, the breakfast is fresh and offers plenty of options, the rooms live up to a 4-star hotel's standards

Loved the indoor pool with a glass ceiling. You can float in the water and watch the planes overhead as it is quite close to the airport. Friendliest, most helpful staff of all the Vila Galés so far. Good breakfast 😋

At the crossroads of 2 railway tracks, With extremely bad window insulation, Especially where needed on the east where the rooms are just underneath the trains... not mentioning the planes... Otherwise enjoyable facilities, nice pool.

When I arrived at 3pm the waiting queue at the counter was really long with only one employee working. After 20 minutes I was able to check in but was told that I have to wait 5 Minutes until my room is ready. I ended up being forgotten in the lobby- after 30 minutes I asked for my room and finally got in. I did not even get a "sorry ". I experienced the same bad service during check - out. About the hotel and the room: Everything is very old. The carpet smells bad, the furniture in the lobby and room is very old fashioned and the bathroom was not really clean or just needs renovation. There was no big light in my room and no power outlet(s) next to the bed. Also no shower gadgets in the bathroom that I would have needed on my business trip. The only good thing about this hotel is the amazing rooftop and pools with great few on the bridge. But you have to ask for it as you would never find the rooftop on your own. (No signs, it's just at the end of the staircase)

Decent hotel but the staff at the bar were not present. When I wanted to get a coffee I waited over ten minutes then walked into the restaurant and was greeted by a worker that quickly told me they were closed and rushed me out. I explained that is like a coffee and he directed me to the bar. I then explained that I had been waiting ten minutes and he blithely told me to keep waiting. The staff should be reminded that the guest paid to be here. We aren't their fellow laborers in arms just trying to get through the work day. Some customers service training for the entire staff may be needed.

Nice staff , no map of area , buffet hot food was barely warm , good choice of food.Noisey Bridge overhead , great transport options nearby if only there was a map to show guests. No tea/coffee facilities in room , no iron in room . A bit short on 4 star quality.

  • 1/5 Koray 1 year ago on Google
As this hotel is located just under the 25th of April bridge you can hear at least the train even if you have a room oriented towards the reverse side of the bridge and if you get a room which has a separation door with the next door room then you hear all the noise coming from that room and it gets even worse if the people from the that room start to smoke then your room also starts to smell tobacco... In my case even calling to reception didn’t help as after telling me that they’d call the next door room to tell them stop smoking (it’s not allowed to smoke in the room) and they’re out of rooms so no room change is possible. Very bad experience at all… I’ll definitely not come back to this hotel.

  • 1/5 Naureen G. 2 years ago on Google
No toiletries / basics were provided-- you must provide your own toothpaste, toothbrush, cream, lotion, etc. There is no tea kettle or microwave ... There is extremely thin soundproofing. For the price you pay, this hotel is 100% not worth it. It was raining for part of my trip and I decided to rest in the hotel room-- only to experience construction noise that began at 10AM and went on to 5PM. It is really unacceptable service and I encourage my fellow tourists to stay away from this scam of a hotel. How they are listed as a 4-star hotel and have 5/5 reviews is beyond me ... When conferences are going on, this hotel purposefully spikes the prices of their rooms by 3-4x. Do yourself a favor and stay away
