This small museum which is free with the Lisboa card or 2 Euro by itself tells the story of the Rupilican Guards and their place in the old Portuguese dictatorship. English information is of good quality which is always a plus.

Almost a hidden gem in Lisbon. Small museum, easy to wander around in about 30 minutes but very interesting. Set in a building with a huge significanse in Portugese history. I think as seniors, it cost just a Euro to get in. Worth a visit.

Nice museum. With great information to understand the history of Portugal. That said, the flow was not well organized making a bit hard to keep track of historical changes.

Very nice museum and the entrance is free. It presents a very short history of the military of Portugal from the 13th century to today (including the main events). Must see.

The place is so beautiful. There is an entry free of 3 or 4 euro. It has recorded all history moments of the National Guard.

Mandatory visit to learn about the history of the GNR. And remember our hero Salgueiro Maia.

We came here unexpectedly and it was free! So we decided to learn about this institution of Portugal. The museum logically divided into topics like veterinary of GNR, sports events, medicine etc. Visitors could also get to the part of the building where the important event of 25th of April took place, and where the final documents were signed.

Such a great place, so much history, it is really interesting for all ages, we went with children from 3 to 9 and they all loved it. The people in charge of the museum are extremly nice. They even gave us drawings for the children. Just go!

Surprisingly interesting museum about policing in Portugal, including their role during the authorization Nouvo Etat, and during the Carnation Revolution. Set in the old (and current) headquarters building. Can visit in leas than an hour before visiting the ruins of the Cathedral next door.

Although it is only a small museum it is interesting to learn the history of the Guarda Nacional Republicana and their involvement in WWI. Definitely recommend.

This museum could be so much better. The course of history itself is really interesting. Unfortunately they arranged it in an intrasparent confusing order. I like going through a historical museum with the option to follow the timeline. There was no arrrow on the ground or anything, but labels with year numbers. But after reaching the highest year, later their was a department for the very early history again. And then a room with history from in between. That was really demotivating for me, because I couldn't follow the story. There were lot's of nice exhibition pieces, too. But if the overall structure is not clear, I can't really enjoy it. It's a pity.

Very interesting. The traffic in and out is very formal with salutes and the impressive guard in front.

đź‘Ťđź‘Ť Beautiful place. It's such a pleasure to be here in any season in full sun or under the moon. The Belem tower is awesome ! This fortress in the middle of the Tagus has been the starting point for the navigators who set out to discover the trade routes. The expansive spirit is still present here. En...
