Such a great walk with views spoiled by so many cyclists circulating on a narrow path. Worst part is walkers must pay 2 euros but cyclists don't. No restrooms either.

You can spend a nice hour here I think. The entry fee ticket is 4€ (2€ for students) and you get to do a nice walk back and forth along the aqueduct and enjoy the views of Lisbon

If you are a fan of engineering or history then you should definitely consider a visit to the Aquaduct. Keep your expectations in check. There's not a lot to do here and there's not much of a museum in the traditional sense but it is a very impressive landmark. It was built in the first half of the 1700s and survived the great earthquake of Lisbon unscathed. Best of all, you get to walk on it almost all the way across the freeway. You also get to walk inside of it briefly which is pretty amazing.

Beautiful Portuguese engineering. I saw this giant bridge structure during the flight into Lisbon airport from the air and I became intrigued and amazed at this structure. I googled it and managed to find it here! Entrance point is the location on the map. Ticket is €4 and €2 for students. You cannot go over to the other side and have to turn back to the starting point. Truly mesmerising view to look over the houses, highways, trains, and planes that are about to land. Focus on the sound you hear.. it’s a good place to relax and think about things. It could feel a little scary as it is quite high from the ground. Maybe don’t go if you are afraid of heights. Overall very good experience and I will definitely return here one day…

I went on Sunday, visited for free and spent an hour approximately. A beautiful place to visit with nice views all around. I recommend to check the opening times and go.

This is my #1 to do in Lisbon when friends and family come to visit. How often can you walk on an aqueduct? You can walk over 35 arches 1km. Spectacular views!

A brief but wonderful visit back in time. To walk on the aqueduct so high above the valley gave us a perspective we’d never otherwise have. Knowing that the structure we were on was built prior to the earthquake of 1755 and survived, made us imagine what the valley would have looked like then.

Amazing views of all of Lisbon. ..everything but the Aquaducts. Beware that the structure is almost 1.6km long, and has one point of entry only. So you're going to want to bring an umbrella and make a trip to the washroom prior. €4 entry, €2 for students and seniors.

Amazing structure and a spectacular example of masonry and engineering. This viaduct has been standing for centuries and even survived the Great Lisbon earthquake. Entrance to the aqueduct via the Museu da Agua for just 4 euros. The views of the Alcantara valley and surrounding Lisbon are simply breathtaking.

An amazing place in which you can visit for free, although not everyday. I went with a guide and the explanation was fantastic, a lot of history the aqueduct has. In 2024 ot will be possible to visit and walk inside of it.

Just the part of the water system that is most visible and in the middle of the city, but there are tens of kilometers of tunnels as part of this historical water system. I recommend taking the walk on top and inside the aqueduct. The entrance is from the Agua Livre Museum. Only 4€. And at least take the stairs along the aqueduct from the outside. The immense structure is also visible from the 711 bus line.

Must see in Lisbon for me. Fascinating roman engineering work. When I was visiting it, it was raining and I was all alone there. Totally recommended this place during rain with no tourists.

What is announced as 'Museum and aqueduct' turns out to be just a walk of around 1km on each of the aqueduct's outer sides with a short glimpse of what is inside (nothing, but that's expected). You can get better views of the city at other places and you can watch and take photos of the aqueduct free from the outside. Not really recommended to spend the 4 euros per person unless you absolutely want to walk on an aqueduct.

A lovely bit of history that seems to be mainly missed off the tourist list. Not only that but it is the start of a great walk back to the centre of Lisbon (downhill most of the way) following the water system and seeing several other great, interesting, little visited sites.

The museum is open 10:00 to 17:30 from Tuesday to Sunday. Some good views from on the aqueduct and from a bit away. A 1km walk and incredibly free of too many tourists as it’s a bit out of the way. Use your Lisboa Card to get here by bus.

One of the most interesting monuments in Lisbon. It was used to carry water from Nascente das Aguas Livres in Belas, Sintra to Lisbon so that the people living in the city could have acess to good quality water. Across it's almost 50 km it was built so that the inclination would allow the water to flow without pumps all the way to the city! It can be visited with a tour guide.

I really enjoyed visiting the aqueduct here and also at the Mae d’agua das Amoreiras Reservoir 1 km away near Rato metro station. The aqueduct is an impressive and beautiful structure. You can walk 1 km on top of it, walk inside and then back on the other side. You get panoramic views of the city along with information about the aqueduct. There are numerous interesting sites run by the Museum of Water giving a unique view of Lisbon.

While unassuming, this turned out to be one of the most interesting things I saw in Lisbon and a highlight of my trip. The museum explanations in the garden are very good and review the aqueducts in terms of Portugal’s history, aspects of urban planning, and engineering. It is a little hard to find, but it’s right on the 702 bus line.

A phenomenal construction which you truly appreciate from walking along it. The history of the aqueduct is provided at the beginning of the route, and you then walk along one side of the aqueduct, through it (where you can see the inner construction) and back along the other side. Some great views from being up that high of the surrounding area, but due to your position when on the structure it’s hard to get a full look at what’s beneath you and the scale of the entire thing. €4 per adult..

One of the most overlooked sightseeing places in Lisbon. The aqueduct is a great combo for learning some history of water supply to Lisbon, as well as breathtaking views over the city (reaching as far as the Sanctuary of Christ the King)

Great sightseeing place and majestic to think it endured the great earthquake of 1755. There are a couple of explanations in the beginning and then a long walk on both sides of the aqueduct where in half way you can see the tunnel and how water was transported. The great benefit is to see for yourself. The view and the aqueduct structure. Otherwise simple pictures from the review will suffice. Price wise is not expensive with 4€ for adults and free for kids.

I had the chance to visit the Aqueduct in mid-November on a Saturday, and I must say, it's a must-see for anyone who appreciates stunning cityscapes from above or enjoys the thrill of exploring towering structures. The Aqueducts are, without a doubt, marvels of architectural and engineering brilliance. For a mere 4 euros, you can soak in the breathtaking views of Lisbon and enjoy a delightful experience from every angle of this landmark.

Wonderful place in Lisbon. This museum has a lot to offer. With guided tour (in Portuguesas), and information all over the place (in English too). Great history piece about water Aqueduct in Lisbon, and an architectural wonder. Place gives also great views to the city from both sides. The area itself os full of colorful houses and nice streets. Must see in Lisbon.

The explanatory panels are awesome, worth every word on them. You have to walk three quarter way to the u-turn point to see the water canal in the aqueduct. It’s a nice walk, or you can take a slow jog to get some exercise in.

While it is sn amazing feeling to walk on an actual aqueduct, I do feel that there could be a lot more on display here.

Amazing! You can visit very old aquaduct. There is museum of water there. I have visited it in " corona time", and therefore it is not possible to have a guide. But all the history is showed on the posters and it is very good arranged. The wiew from aquaduct to the valley and part of Lisbon is amazing.

It's great to visit the aquaeductus and enjoy the view. Though it's a bit of a bummer that you can't really get off the other end and continue your stroll onto the Monsanto hill. Unfortunately, you have to walk the entire way back. :/

Only 4€ to go in and they offer a student discount. It’s a long walk to get it all done. They had a turnaround half way through though

👍👍 Beautiful place. It's such a pleasure to be here in any season in full sun or under the moon. The Belem tower is awesome !
