Typical
Lagos
food.
Totally
and
utterly
average
in
every
way,
except
price.
I'm
starting
to
doubt
there
are
more
than
a
handful
of
impressive
restaurants
in
Lagos.
We
had
delivery
from
The
Seasonal
a
while
back
but
I'm
not
really
into
reviewing
an
actual
dine-in
spot
by
their
delivery
one
time.
We
ended
up
here
as
we
had
a
vegetarian
in
our
group
and
the
vegetarian
place
we
wanted
to
go
to
was
closed
for
holidays.
It
was
fine.
I
guess.
Nothing
was
overly
good.
Although
the
vegetarian
dish
was
super
weird.
It
was
this
odd
mishmash
of
random
things.
Overall
inauthentic
and
strange.
I
ordered
chicken
rendang.
I
mean...
there
was
chicken
in
it,
but
I
don't
know
what
definition
of
rendang
they're
going
by.
Mine
was
a
bowl
of
grey
slop.
Totally
unappetizing
to
look
at.
It
tasted
fine,
but
not
like
rendang
at
all.
Just
some
basic
European-style
"curry".
It
had
none
of
the
spices
I'm
familiar
with
in
rendang
from
Malay
or
Indonesian
restaurants.
Also,
it
was
absolutely
swimming
in
sauce.
Like
a
soup.
In
retrospect,
it
was
honestly
far
closer
to
a
bad
Thai
green
or
massaman
curry.
I
suspect
perhaps
that
is
what
I
got.
I
can't
think
of
any
other
explanation
for
how
you
can
screw
up
rendang
so
that
it
is
completely
unrecognizable.
I
also
am
convinced
they
have
no
idea
what
nasi
lemak
rice
is.
They
served
me
some
bland
white
rice
with
a
bit
of
toasted
coconut
on
top.
At
the
very
least,
it
should
have
pandan,
coconut,
sambal,
egg
and
anchovies.
Nasi
lemak
is
a
dish
on
its
own.
Please
Google
a
basic
recipe
for
it
before
saying
on
your
menu
you
serve
it.
It's
borderline
false
advertising.
The
rendang
dish
(+
rice)
dish
is
so
inauthentic
and
wrong,
it
was
amazing
actually.
Not
in
a
good
way.
It
wouldn't
be
the
first
thing
they
got
wrong.
When
ordering
drinks,
I
asked
for
a
Manhattan.
(It
is
on
their
menu.)
I
got
a
lacklustre
Old-fashioned
instead,
but
I
could
not
be
bothered
to
correct
it
and
wait
forever
again.
I
honestly
don't
know
if
it
was
the
server,
the
bar,
or
the
kitchen
that
is
responsible
for
all
the
mix-ups.
The
coco
prawns
were
fine.
At
least
it
was
the
same
as
what
the
menu
suggests.
No
serious
complaints
there.
The
place
did
fill
up
by
the
time
we
were
finished,
but
I
can't
see
myself
ever
going
back
again.
There
are
marginally
better
"Asian
fushion"
spots
in
Lagos.
This
is
not
authentic
South-east
Asian
at
all.
Maybe
their
Indian
dishes
are
better,
but
there
are
loads
of
places
to
go
for
Indian
in
Lagos.
