An absolutely perfect restaurant. The service was so friendly and joyful. The food is fantastic and my only regret is that I only have one stomach. We will be back soon to try the other dishes. On this trip, we had the chicken and the risotto. Both were so incredibly perfect. Definitely try the house hot sauce, it has a good kick to it. My only negative feedback is that they don’t take credit cards. So bring MBway or cash. Our meal with wine was €98, which is a good bit of cash to be carrying around in Lisbon.

Wow, what an incredible experience! Perfect night from beginning to end. Small, intimate restaurant that was a joy after a day of crowds and sightseeing. Our apartment was right around the corner which is how we found it. Sofia's cod was delicious and beautifully presented with sweet potatoes. My husband had what I would call a fish and bean stew (don't remember the name) but he loved it! Portuguese food with new creativity. Service was excellent; fun people that love what they are doing. By the time we left, we were all hugging! Even the chef came out to hug us (he is Sofia's brother and a very talented chef). Best dining experience we have had in Portugal! Make the effort to find this gem; you'll be glad you did!

It was a great experience to visit Sofia's place. Nice music in the background, pretty, cozy local, and most of all: delicious, amazing food and non-obvious mixed of tastes. The codfish with coconut milk and sweet potatoes was really awesome! This is a place with soul and that Soul is Sofia! She took care of us like a good friend and I am so happy that we found this place. I am sure this evening will be one of my best memories from Lisbon. Sofia, if you will come to Poland, I want to meet you again and tell you about my next travel! :)

We were in town and couldn’t find much diversity. Suddenly we walked pass this little spot with a beautiful young lady in front who spoke to us. We made a u turn and came to find this amazing place. We were led inside and immediately fell in love. I mean, the menu alone had us. Then Sofia came out and greeted us, talked to us, gave us her story and the story of the Diaspora is Portugal. The food was sooo good, the drinks too! But what made this special was the people, Sofia and her staff were warm, welcoming, and genuine. We needed this experience to wrap up our visit to this rich and beautiful city. The restaurant felt like home. One of a kind and enough to make me want to come back to Lisbon as soon as I possibly can. Sofia is what this city needs, a true community icon. The lamb👌🏾 and Sofia’s hot sauce 👌🏾👌🏾! Please visit this restaurant if you’re ever in the area. You won’t regret it. We made a friend! Thank you Sofia for being who you are 🤎

Fantastic African food in a cosy restaurant!! We booked on the day via Instagram and were accommodated for dinner. The customer service was great from arrival and it is clear that Sofia is passionate about what she does. It was great to hear her story behind herself and the dishes on the menu. Would definitely return to try more food. Thank you!

There’s nothing like Sofia’s Place in Lisbon. It’s intimate, welcoming and most of all, has the best Jollof rice I’ve ever had. Sofia is the most authentic, welcoming and kindest person you’ll meet. I loved getting to learn about her food and culture before she served us. I cannot wait to visit again!

Beautiful atmosphere, female and family owned. We loved each dish, each sauce, have never had anything like it - the jollaf rice - unreal. The okra soup, cooked down, similar to gumbo but better. We also had plaintains, the lamb and the wings - all delicious. Couldn’t recommend the food enough and the owner, Sofia is just an absolute joy.

We received a very warm welcome from Sophia who greeted us with a hug and showed us to our seat. The menu is a melting pot of culture with dishes from various African countries. The food was amazing and the atmosphere and vibe was so welcoming and genuine. Thank you Sophia to yourself and your team for being so attentive, warm and for making our last evening in Lisbon so memorable. Lots of love and wishes from your first South African customers 🇿🇦🇨🇻

Very cozy and intimate, inviting, and exciting! I had probably the best mushroom risotto, of my life. My husband had the creole lamb chops. The sauces that came with the lamb were divine. Service and staff so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back, whenever we come to Lisbon.

Sofia’s place is very welcoming and filled with interesting Cape Verdean recipes. We were greeted by Sofia herself and were guided through the menu by her staff who were kind enough to give us starters and chocolates on the house. The food was delicious. I’d recommend people try this place.

AMAZING AMAZING!!! I LOVE Sofia’s Place! The vibe, the music, the food, and the beautiful Sofia herself made for the most incredible lunchtime Jamaican diaspora event. I met the most awesome people too. We can’t wait to go back. Would recommend 1000%

Lovely meal, great service. There’s only 14 seats in the place, so you get really well looked after, and you know the food is cooked to order. Recommend it highly. The port and orange cake was excellent to finish

I heard about this place before visiting Lisbon and knew I wanted to try it. We came for dinner and there were only a couple of other people there. Our waiters looked a bit young, but I am assuming it is a family establishment and they were family members. A couple of things I wanted off the menu were no longer available. I ended up getting the lamb chops. They were delicious, just way too fatty. The flavor was still there, though. I would not mind coming back here again.

I’ve been to Lisbon many times, and I’ve yet to discover a place as unique and flavorful as this. I met a lovely woman by the name of April on a flight from Seville Spain to Lisbon and we started talking. She told me she lives in Lisbon, she’s originally from Panama and lived in the United States. I asked her as she is a local, if you only had one night in Lisbon, where would you eat? She said Sophia‘s place! I saved Sophia‘s place until my last day in Lisbon and I was so happy I did! Sofia takes a mix of African cultures and rolls it into one very special menu. Most of the food in Europe has a distinct flavor, but Sofia‘s is on its own level! The food was divine, taking flavors from many countries and most, I’ve never tasted before! There was a certain spice that I’ve been craving that you just cannot find in Europe. What made this place very special was Sofia and her daughter, I would definitely come back and visit as they made me feel like family! Oh, yes, they had the best sangria as well! I had a tuna, empanada, and chicken with peanut sauce that was to die for!

Sofia is an excellent restauranteur. She beams with love as she greets each of her guests, moving within the restaurant and going back to the kitchen. It's an intimate space. Each dish is prepared fresh, cooked to order. We met many other travelers with whom we chatted throughout the evening. It was like a family reunion of the diaspora. From okra soup to jollof rice to passion fruit sangria, we had a wonderful night. It was our first restaurant, kicking off a week long family trip in Lisbon. Would definitely return.

Sofias Place has absolutely outstanding African cuisine from different cultures! Sofia’s Place exceeded my expectations! She was hands on with service, the vibe and explaining the food and the origins of it. Sofia I pray your journey continues and you spread African history through your amazing food 🫶🏾 I hope to visit Lisbon again from the states and bring my family 💜. A must try in Lisbon! Black owned with amazing service is a commodity in the states, I’m glad Lisbon provided this on my last night.

If you come to Lisboa, try Sofia's Place and her Cape Verdean food. We were greeted with extremely warm hugs by the owner Sofia when we walked into Sofia's Place. It was like coming home. Service, food and drinks were outstanding. All plates were clean at the end of the meal. The white sangria was so good with the suprise element of mint. If you like HOT sauce, Sofia's hot sauce is hot per the Jamaican in our group. We were celebrating a birthday with a party of 6. I called for a reservations earlier that day which was a good idea since there is limited capacity. It a good idea to make a reservation in advance. Menus in English are available and Sofia and her team speak English.

Charming and cozy restaurant serving delicious flavorful entrees--the codfish, risotto, lamb, steak were amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. We even got to meet the owner Sofia, who is absolutely delightful. Highly recommend!

This place has excellent food and amazing sangria. We tried four different dishes - all full of flavour and very delicious. It's a small place with a great atmosphere and service. Visiting this place is not just a great meal, it's an experience!

Me and 7 friends just had lunch here. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was not only delicious but beautifully presented. I had the Salmon Risotto and it was perfectly cooked. Would come back the next time I’m in Lisbon.

There are various reasons why you should visit Sofia's Place during your stay in Lisbon. One of them is a fine selection of high-quality cuisine which guarantees you a fully satisfying experience. But the most important virtue of this place is Sofia herself. Welcoming, hospitable, and companionable. Thank you for a wonderful evening, hope to see you again one day 💜
